“But this man, Kandi. He’s that too-fine-to-be-fine. God and he smells like good d*ck, great credit, and fire ass head.” M’kay Taavon. 😏😉😏😉
After wasting her time on two unworthy f*ck boys, Sundae has taken herself out of the dating pool because it clearly has pee in it. Her job as a financial accountant doesn’t leave much room for dating anyway but, she did make a New Year’s resolution to be more open to trying new things. Sundae’s grandmother is worried about her non-existent dating life so, she gives her a special love recipe that’s guaranteed to bring all the boys to the yard. While shopping for the ingredients for her love cake, Sundae bumps into who she thinks is a stock boy but, that doesn’t stop her immediate attraction to the six-foot chocolate God with the shallow dimple. Taavon is the newly appointed CEO of The Marketplace so, dating is not a top priority for him right now. Runnin’ his family business and gettin’ through the day without his recently retired mama stressin’ him out is all he can focus on right now. But, when a customer accidentally bumps into him, Taavon is willing to find the time to get to know this pretty lady. I absolutely loved me some Sundae and Taavon. These characters were two hardworking professionals who understood their careers didn’t leave a lot of room for dating but, weirdly enough, that’s what attracted them to each other. Sundae and Taavon was sexy, easy going, and drama free. Definitely add this one to your Valentine's Day TBR.
Sundae has been unlucky with love over the past two years and now finds herself too close to 30 without a prospect in sight. Work is her only companion and she wants more. Her MeeMee senses that she is feeling a way and gives her a cake recipe that takes time and patience which she believes are also a recipe for love. As she is getting all the things for her cake she stumbles across Taavon, the sexiest finest chocolate 🍫 man she has ever seen. They have an immediate connection, but are unable to act on it. I loved the way this story unfolded. It gave us the insta love, the compatibility, the sexxx, and the beautiful Valentine's Day gestures all while not skimping on being a Black romance. I love when a story feels like us and this one does just that.
What an adorable read. Who knew that a cake recipe could turn into love? Kudos to MeeMee for being the woman with a plan. 🤣 Sundae and Taavon were super cute. Having similar careers and both driven, they understood each other in a way no one else could. Their connection was so easy and simple, it just worked. Good job! 👍🏾👍🏾
I like how the "elders" get all up in Sundae's and Taavon's business. Taavon's mother is retired, bored and begging for grandchildren. Sundae's grandmother has a "magic" cake that she just knows will bring the perfect man into Sundae's life. But will it?
If a story is set in Crescent Falls, you know it's gonna be good. I fell in love with the Crescent Falls universe after discovering it last year and with the fictional town came all the authors. If you ever see a novella collection featuring Charity Shane, ML Bash, KC Mills, or T'Lyn run, don't walk to download them all. There are more authors but so far, I'm slowly working my way through the catalog of those four amazing authors.
Okay enough of the intro, let's talk about Sundae and Taavon because they did NOT disappoint.
First and foremost, both of our mains are educated workaholics with strong family ties. I loved that. Usually when a character is a workaholic the author makes them slow down and enjoy the time spent with their new love.
Nope, Charity was like I'm making these two a power couple that sits in bed naked on their prospective laptops after a love making session. Not saying if that really happened... ya'll got to read it.
Anyways this entire novella series has a recipe and Valentine's theme. In this story our girl is tasked with baking a cake that is supposed to make a man fall in love with her. The cake is a super elaborate 10-day process given to her by her grandma.
Our boy Taavon is a fine as hell CEO who meets our girl by chance. His mom and sister were a hoot.
When Taavon and Sundae connect it's insta everything! Insta spice, insta attraction, insta feelings, I was here for it. This is a fast-paced love story and the ending was everything.
I look forward to reading the rest of the series because as I said above every author in the Crescent Falls world puts their foot in it.
Since all the stories are about love O know I'll enjoy everyone. But this relationship is so sweet. It has generational roots of believing in a path to true love. I like it!
I enjoy reading this book. I love how Taavon and Sundae met. Their relationship was so nice and unproblematic, attracted to each other from the beginning. It was just smooth sailing, and for it to end like it did was just the icing on the cake.
I had been in such a book slump and this helped bring me out of it! I love the banter and MeeMee reminded me so much of my grandmother. I loved this book!
I have not been feeling anything lately and leave it to my girl to gather me right on up!
This was a quick and easy read but super cute! It’s instalove, which if you’ve read my reviews you know I’m not a fan, but this felt very whimsical so I didn’t mind it at all. It got a little spicy quick but still felt very old school, with the granny inspired urban legend, Sunday dinners, family legacies. Then the little plot twist with the final product at the end made it that much cuter. It was purely just kismet energy connecting Sundae and Taavon and I loved it! I’m excited to see how the rest of the series goes. You definitely get the “hit with cupids arrow” vibes!
This is definitely a cute one. Falling in love over a process of meeting a cake is definitely different and I really like the interaction between the FMC and MMC...I think them being so open to the possibility of something special was what made this fun. SUNDAE being skeptical a out her meemee cake buy deciding to follow through lead to her connecting with the man she meet earlier and from there there journey was smooth, So I day Taavon is right MeeMee cake did what it was pose to do 😁🥰
This standalone is so lit. Grandma knew what she was talking bout that love cake. They worked well together, and they both worked a lot. His sister is very nosey. I'm glad they found the love of their lives. U did good on yet another book and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read
Sundae and Taavon were both workaholics in a sense and were not necessarily looking for love but when they first crossed paths there was definitely an instant attraction albeit a brief encounter. When Taavon saw Sundae a second time he knew he could not let het get away without getting her numbers and after their first date it was on from there.
I liked how they were so comfortable with each other and just fell into a relationship if you will as if they had been knowing each other for a long time. The recipe was kind of the catalyst that brought them together but their feelings could not be denied. Things happened fast between the two of them but they just fit and it was like if you know you know. I wouldn't mind seeing more from these two in another book.
All love and no drama!!! I love it here! This was such a sweet, open minded, communicative, love story and i loved every bit of it!! Charity….write me a man in real life!!!
This was the sweetest, quick little read. I was literally smiling the entire time I was reading. Taavon and Sundae are just too cute for words. I really liked Sundae's personality. She was very confident in herself. I hope we get to see more of them in the future.
This was sooo cute. I honestly can’t decide what I enjoyed more, the ease between them or the way the cake played out. This is my second holiday themed read from this author and I really love the way she builds the instalove through a wholesome obsession between the mains. It’s a plot device that I thoroughly enjoy. Let me find out Charity is rearranging my love languages and pushing physical touch and quality time hire up the list. The pacing was good, and the story was satisfying. The only issue I had was a personal pet peeve, it was how annoying their family members were, something about how pushy they were rubbed my the wrong way. But overall it was so enjoyable and I definitely think you should read this one before any of the others, but after that I don’t think the order matters much.
I absolutely love this story. It's my dream so I truly enjoyed reading this book.
Sundae and Taavon were instantly attracted to each other. And I love the urban legends from her Louisiana grandmother. We believe in our traditions and Sunday dinners.
Sundae and Taavon just fit! Thank you Charity Shane for a beautifully crafted romance.
If only love was as simple as a slice of cake. Sundae and Taavon were the cutest couple. I love how their relationship grew at a pace that worked for the both of them even with the lore of the cake hanging in the balance. I can’t wait to see what else Ms. Shane has for us in this series as we enter into the month of hugs and kisses.
This story was everything I’m sad that it’s not long enough… Taavon where do they make’em like him cause baby he was everything. I love a man that is more than attentive and intentional and I loved that for Sundae. Now this is a Valentine’s novella done right. Charity never disappoints and I can’t wait for what’s next
Now I want cake! Chocolate and strawberry to be exact! This was a cute and steamy short story! Meemee’s cake recipe worked just fine. He didn’t have to eat it for it to work. The bond was created at the same time the cake was created. Well thought out Charity! No matter the number of pages, the stories are always 🔥
Taavon & Sundae!!! Two hardworking professionals, a chance meeting and a ten day cake is where this story begins. Its instant intrigue & attraction. I smiled while reading this love story. Enjoy it!
This was so good! I loved the instant connection they made and how the recipe brought them together. I loved the little twist in it and how it all played out. So good!
