As the ego of a brain analyzes why things have not been going as expected in life, the Soul shows up and explains things in a way that the brain has yet to realize; leading the brain through an experience of surprising revelations that alter the course of its journey forever. A powerful and masterful dialogue between a curious mind and the Soul, with valuable insights into humanity's spiritual boundaries.
Ever since discovering the spiritual path more than 20 years ago, I've been drawn to read books related to the journey of self-discovery. Having read numerous titles in the category, I can sincerely say that these days it takes a special book to inspire me to read more than a few pages at a time. This was definitely that type of book, as I found various elements of the "conversation" between the soul and the brain to be both fascinating and thought-provoking. In addition, to me personally the information JB Lewis shares was both provocative and captivating, because it effectively compelled me to seriously question just about everything I've ever read about the nature of reality. While some aspects of the work are intensely metaphysical, anyone who has been on the path of spiritual growth for some time will certainly be able to handle it. I really liked this book.
As with so many books...great premise, poor execution. This book is all over the place, and by Chapter 10, I just gave up.
Warning this book is not for those who are Christians. It challenges traditional beliefs in many ways. But it also isn't for wishy-washy people either. According to the book... Jesus exists but doesn't really. There is more than one God, kind of. There are other universes. I felt like the author was making stuff up as he went. And midway through the book, I decided to not continue to waste away my time or brain cells.

Recently I reconnected with some long-lost family. I found out I have a cousin who writes. He's an author, I'm a reader, so I was excited about this book. Now I just feel awkward. There's not much here I could subscribe to. I don't know how anyone could.
Notes:
(1) Personal note: I wish I knew more about Lewis's worldview going in. The first chapter starts an actual dialog between the mind and the brain. Does Lewis think these are distinctive souls?
(2) Answer? the brain is the "physical counterpart" to the brain.
(3) The soul can heal the body
(4) The soul is neither male nor female
(5) The brain has autonomy
(6) The reason the soul does not heal the brain is because the brain doesn't believe it can.
(7) the body will not die from anything unless the soul allows it.
(8) Interesting thought on the Trinity 😕
(9) Lewis's beliefs about Jesus. There was a such a man, but his name was Nemeth. Story-tellers changed his name.
(10) Nemeth was married. Died of old age. Never crucified.
(11) We don't need a savior
(12) If you can conceive of it, then it's real somewhere ("fairies, mermaids, bigfoot")
(13) "A person with a doctoral degree in religion knows an awful lot about fairy tales"
(13) Personal note: this reads like Donald Walsh
(14) “Anything is true if you wish for it to be. At one point, the words of the bible said one thing, and people believed it and worshipped it as the truth above all truth. Then, one day, the words changed a bit; but this was of no consequence to believers, for they kept right on believing the new ideas as the truth above all truth without skipping a beat. And anyone that did not find truth in the new words went out and started their own truth by creating new ways; or as you like to call them, religions. Brain: So You are saying that no matter what we believe, none of it matters, as long as we want to believe it. Soul: None of it matters. Holding on to ideas because they are supposed to be holy or sacred means nothing. They are merely ideas, and ideas can change with the wind; and they should. Keeping life fresh is always good.”
(15) Returning to my initial observation, Lewis treats the soul as some sort of cosmic deity. Doesn't use the term in the traditional sense.
(16) The soul is both God and the devil
(17) "The Bible's dating efforts are incorrect"
(18) “And all of it is okay since there is no right or wrong way to live life.”
(19) “The bible, even with all of the good advice it does have, is still a ledger of fear that was created by those intent on controlling the flock.“
(20) if it’s god you seek, you will not find it in the Bible.
