And Justice for All

Rate this book
For more than 2500 years mankind has been on an insatiable quest, one that has only temporarily been realized in a few locations and for fleeting moments. That quest is for concord; that idyllic state of affairs in which neither tyranny reigns, nor chaos rules. Why should peace and harmony among the citizens of the earth be so elusive? And more importantly, how can the lessons from the answers to these questions be used to, once and for all, establish society on a firm foundation of freedom and justice for all? The answers to these questions are tantalizingly presented in the pages of this book. Orrin Woodward combines staggering scholarship and boundless creativity to distill the lessons of two and a half millennia into a concise picture. This book will present the reader with a clear comprehension of the root of the trouble, and then lead to the historical underpinnings that, once understood, provide the final resolution of the quest.

Thank you Orrin for this book. The problem defined goes in depth on The Five Laws of Decline and also The Six Duties of Society. These laws I would have never known or identified if not for this book. From understanding both we can get a more accurate picture of the state of our country and what we can do to play a bigger role in the reversal of our decline. There's a lot of great economic books out there, most with a lot of confusing jargon. Orrin's new boon puts it in easy reading so we can better understand. Anyone who wants to stand and make a difference in their country I would highly recommend reading this.

The insight one gleans from such a book is akin to the butterfly effect, or that of a ripple into a still pond from a rock skipped across ( like my days nearby Cleveland in the Metroparks )

Powerful & filled to the brim with deep seated principles which sadly have not been utilized by current politicians, let alone others in the public eye/sphere, to truly dissect what ails Western Civilization, inc. America.

Having already read the previous two books where the FLD were laid out and discussed in other contexts, the SDS was new, and so was the presentation of them being in an epic struggle against one another.

Clearly a must-read. Information like this needs to start up the 'food chain' of governmental institutions - a la, a "Lockean" model. That's a recommendation to anyone reading is to get this book into the hands of the mayor, city manager, trustees, commissioners, central committees, & county offices.

Oh my goodness;I can't wait for his next book! This book explains why our society is such a mess. He describes six duties of society and five laws of decline and if a society can promote the six duties of society and diminish the five laws of decline our nation will prosper.

The government has ruled too long. The government influences society through media, etc., to the point of complacency and pushes the five laws of decline into society to the point that any great nation will eventually fall. But the important thing to remember is that we do need government to protect our inalienable rights only.

Everyone needs to read this book. When you know and understand what is happening you will want to be responsible and promote the six duties of society.

I feel like I've read a fair amount in regards to freedom, economics, history and politics and I have to say, Orrin is like a modern day Bastiat. He is able to boil the complex down into simple to understand, yet very powerful principles. In "And Justice for All" Orrin does a fantastic job of clearly identifying the root cause(s) of the crumbling foundation of freedom. He also expertly describes six duties that the citizens of a state must take up if they're to remain free. Overall, I recommend this book to any serious student of liberty and anyone that cares about the future of their country.

I finally finished this book. Only a year after we broke the Guiness Book of World Records for a book signing. I CANNOT tell you how impactful this book is. To understand principles of freedom, human nature, the Six Duties of Society, and the Five Laws of Decline and how they interplay throughout history simply brings everything into a clearer view. I can't come much closer to begging you to buying this book from me if you love freedom. $19.95 What a great way to make these ideas understandable to your kids, homeschooled or otherwise. What's the effect of a people who don't understand these things? What would be the effect if they did once more?

This is an excellent book or, more specifically, a needed wake up call. Woodward outlines Six Duties of Society—throughout the book he refers to them as the SDS—and Five Laws of Decline (FDL). If we are to live in a free society we—the people in general and the people we choose as leaders—must ensure justice for all by maintaining the SDS. If we don't, the FDL slowly creep in and dominate the society leading to loss of individual freedom and eventual destruction of society. As he described these characteristics I could see how, during my lifetime, my society has abandoned the SDS and instituted the FDL. This has accelerated in the last twenty or thirty years. It is a sad and depressing scenario. I want to be optimistic and think that we still have time to turn this around, but it is going to take one monumental effort.

One of the best looks at freedom and our current decline from an economic perspective. Let's be honest, right now we're struggling with the same issues that Scotland did with the British empire. Ireland did not have power over it's taxation and thus its own economy and tyranny prevailed. Scotland fought and bled to represent itself, to control its own purse strings and thus economy and freedom flourished. The American Revolution was for the same thing as the Scottish, and this book lays out how to do so again today. Loved it!

Excellent read for anyone who is concerned about the direction of Western Civilization. Orrin Woodward does a masterful job of outlining the problems that are faced by a declining society and provides an insightful analysis of of how those problems can lead to the assent or decline of that society.

As one not too educated in these matters, I found this material fairly tough at first. Then as I continued to read, and sometimes reread parts, I came to understand Orrin's points- so much so I couldn't put the book down. I'm far more informed, educated, and aware now of the needed ingredients for a free society than possibly could have been without this book!

Amazing book outlining how our society can fall into concord and what we must do to get and keep it in that position. Also, describing what the Five Laws of Decline are and how the government already is working within these was a small mind explosion! This book is a must read for anyone that is concerned about America's future!

If you're American or simply a freedom loving citizen in your own country and you're concerned about the path it's on, pick up this book ASAP. This book is equivalent to some of the freedom classics like the Law, Common Sense and the works of John Locke. Incredible.

Wow! This book compliments the Financial Matrix extremely well, expanding upon the role of Government, injustice, manipulation and influence, and how each individual member of society can impact things for true change towards concord.
