These are all fairly short but they generally work well.
1.Room 286: Salim Segal is a former legionaire turned actor/model. He's in London for a film premier so when he sees a photographer pointing a camera at him he thinks paparazzi. Natalja Jordon is a former war correspondent turned fashion photographer, still struggling with the idea she doesn't want to follow in her famous father's footsteps. This brings an actual air of probability to the connection these two make which goes beyond insta-lust. And yes Lust is the right word. This is pretty warm.
2. Room 309: This is a really sweet story with plenty of humour and a lower level of heat. Ben and Joely have been together for eighteen months and Ben really wants to go the next step. Only problem is that Joely is marriage-phobic to the nth degree. What happens that night in 309 will either make or break their relationship...*psst spoiler...it works out okay*
3. Dream Suite: Justin and Vera are both casualties of WWI in their different ways. Thrown together by a mutual friend, they find something together that may even be salvation for both. This is another warmish tale with a lot of emotion.
4. Royal Suite: This is a classic Cinderella tale with Libby wearing her cousin/employers clothes and venturing into the world of the ultra-rich at the Chatsfield. She runs into Lucaj who turns into her very own Prince Charming in the sweetest way. This was more sweet than steamy with fairy tale ending.
5. Doctor Chelsea is not enjoying her blind date when ear-piece guy demands her assistance. Thrown into a life and death situation, she finds ear-piece guy surprisingly helpful and they build a connection through the evening. This is all about the sweet and not much on the steamy but it's a cute story with a h-h-hot hero. Who does have name...read it and find out.

This set of short stories revolving around a posh London hotel has something for every reader. There are stories of one night stands turning to true love, couples finally realizing they are meant for the long haul, a prince and a regular girl and even a historical segment. A fun read that whets your taste for more about the Chatsfield.
There are several full length book in the series that I will have to find and read now that i have read the novellas.

The Chatsfield Novellas Box Set Volume 1 includes five novellas: one each by Abby Green, Joss Wood, Marguerite Kaye, Susan Stephens, and Tina Beckett. As always with this sort of thing, it’s a great way to discover authors that work for you and learn which ones probably won’t. There are a bunch of categories here too: a sweet contemporary romance with barely a kiss, a historical romance set in 1919, and a hot contemp that’s mostly sex, plus a couple variations on the first and last themes. So, something for everyone. Which is an interesting concept. It virtually guarantees that you’ll like some of the stories and not appreciate others. Hmm, not sure about that strategy.
In that case, I’m not really going to weigh in on the ones that I’m not meant to appreciate. One I did appreciate was “The Soldier in Room 286,” by Abby Green, because apparently that’s the way I’m built. It’s hot hot hot, but also carefully written. The aforementioned soldier, Salim, is much more than a soldier, and I thought it a bit unlikely that Nat wouldn’t realize that, but once the sparks started to fly I really didn’t give a damn. Nat’s character is lovely and drawn pretty well in few pages.
The historical romance is “The Couple in the Dream Suite,” by Marguerite Kaye. The author asks you to suspend disbelief a tad, and I found I had to stretch that and also fill in a lot of blanks, but I thought it managed to capture the post-war and class tension that would certainly apply to the situation.
“The Prince in the Royal Suite,” by Susan Stephens, is a sweet story about a wallflower coming into her own, even though it is rather unbelievable. The other stories suffered from awkward writing or lack of chemistry or both, but I still love this concept.

All good short stories/romance. 3.5 stars average.

Quite enjoyable collection of novellas despite the atrocious editing. I particularly liked the Wood and Beckett pieces, though I enjoyed all of them.
