The characters were OK didn't annoy me or anything. Plot was good felt a bit like a Brazen title. Thing is I don't think the book has made a lasting impression and I'm sure I will forget this in a few months.

I kinda sorta liked this one but I didn't quite think it had the 4 star feel. If you like the sweet romance with a bit of sexy and low angst I would give this a go.

4 - "Trust me, I'm a doctor." Stars!

The second book in Melanie Scott’s New York Saints series was an absolute treat. I will admit I went into this one with a little (alright a lot) of trepidation. Reason being, I had a big issue with Maggie from book one (The Devil in Denim), putting it politely we had a slight clash of personalities!

Sara Charles luckily, is a little more rounded as a character, and more importantly Angel in Armani isn’t a book essentially based around a poor little rich girl not getting her own way, which for the most part Maggie’s book was.

”That’s the problem with dreams, sometimes you have to make sacrifices.”

Dr. Lucas Angelo, with his partners Alex Winters (Maggie’s now partner, book one) and Malachi Coulter, took the risk to buy their favorite, but also extremely rubbish baseball team, The New York Saints. Alex deals with the business, Mal the security and Lucas being a Doctor/Surgeon covers everything in relation to the actual team. Bearing in mind he is based in New York, and the team is in Florida for Spring training, you can understand why Sara, her helicopter and Charles Air enter into the equation.

Lucas hates flying; Sara has reasons to dislike people who have or come from money. They do however agree on one thing...

That as a couple they work, but old hurts, insecurities and familial issues/differences as expected, do start to chip away at the bubble they have built around themselves.

“I really don’t want to do that…”

The author gave this couple, and the series a story that was really enjoyable, the sexy times were original (best sex in a power cut ever!) and the tropes although usual, were written in a way that gave them a better than average impact. Bit disappointed with the last 10% as Sara’s behavior let down the character she was for the rest of the book, but bearing in mind book one only got a 2.5 from me, 4 for Angel in Armani shows what a massive improvement these characters, and their story was. Mal is up next, let’s see what the author can give the elusive security expert in Lawless in Leather!

Second book in this series features Lucas Angelo, brilliant orthopedic surgeon and part-owner of the baseball team the New York Saints, and Sara Charles, helicopter pilot who Lucas hires to fly him around NY and in Florida. After a heated one night stand, Lucas and Sara realize that their attraction could be so much more.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

I like sports romances: I like romances that are based in and around sports such as baseball, football and hockey. Athletes have a built-in believability as these muscular, graceful sexy-hot heroes, and I like to see the inner workings of these popular typically masculine, testosterone-driven sports as backdrops to romance novels.

Standalone HEA: I wasn’t aware that there was an earlier book before I started this book, but this was a pretty self-contained story and I don’t think my reading suffered.

Likeable leads: Lucas is all that (pitcher injured while saving others), and a bag of chips, or in this case, an orthopedic surgeon who’s chosen to buy a failing MLB team with his two best friends. Sara is doing everything she can to keep her family’s charter helicopter business alive after her father was injured in an accident while flying one of the family’s helos. Ms. Scott certainly established these two characters separately. Unfortunately, I believed them more as friends than lovers.

Lack of chemistry: Unfortunately, Lucas and Sara were missing that certain special something that makes me buy into an attraction that can lead to love. Sara’s perspective sets up their first encounter which happens very early in the story. Honestly, all I came away with it was her fascination with his scent. That was it before they (literally) get into bed together. I didn’t feel any connection, there was no anticipation, and as a result, I didn’t quite buy into their desperate need to do it again.

Most of their encounters are more about alluding to the action instead of showing it. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I need there to be some sexual attraction, some anticipation, even if I don’t get to see what goes on after it fades to black. But I believed they did like each other.

Abrupt ending: Much like the setup to the first sexual encounter, the final obstacle before the HEA happens abruptly and was a bit unsatisfying.


The Bottom Line
I wanted to like it and the book was pleasant, but it missing that little extra something that makes a couple, and a romance, really click for me.

When I read the first book in this series, Devil in Denim, I was pleasantly surprised at how completely wonderful it was and as much as I loved that book, I have to say that the couple in Angel in Armani really stole my heart. An upper crust high society doctor and the unassuming helo pilot who turns him upside down make for one sexy and entertaining story.

I really love books where opposites attract and Sara Charles and Dr. Lucas Angelo seem worlds apart but a storm, a night neither one of them can forget, and an unfortunate incident leaves them both reeling for different reasons. It was fun watching cool as a cucumber Lucas trying to understand his obsession with a woman he barely knows and trying to figure out how he can reconnect with her.
All Sara can think about is saving her father’s business while he recovers from an accident and after her helo is damaged. When Lucas and his partners make her an offer she knows she should refuse given her association with Lucas, she simply must do what is right for her family and take the job working as a helo pilot for the New York Saints baseball team.

These two have quite a few obstacles to overcome as they pursue a relationship including the fact that Sara knows nothing about the game that means everything to Lucas. As things progress and their secret relationship comes to light life gets a little messy especially when Sara feels Lucas puts baseball above her.

In addition to the sizzling sexy relationship, the friendships new and old, and the excitement as this fictional baseball team begins rebuilding, Angel In Armani is an impressive addition to an already fantastic series.

*Reviewers note: While each book can be read as a stand-alone I believe you’ll enjoy this one more if you’ve read Devil in Denim and I’ll add the same note as I did in the review for that book. Melanie Scott is Australian so there are a few instances in this book where she uses words or sayings that are not typical in America. It didn’t take away from the story and because I read a lot of Aussie authors it didn’t bother me but for someone isn’t aware they might find this a bit strange.

Following The Devil In Denim by Melanie Scott is Angel in Armani. It’s not as good the the first installment but it was overall an enjoyable read.

Sara Charles is a the helicopter pilot for her dad’s charter business and she is flying one of the co-owners for New York Saints baseball team, Lucas Angelo. It was a unavoidable relationship as their attraction for each other was strong. After plans of a one-night-stand, lucas and Sara could not stay away. In fact, their relationship had minor conflicts that it easy to get their HEA. Possibly too easy.

This installment was a fun and sweet read. Both Sara and Lucas were great characters and I loved getting in to their heads. It was nice to see the medical POV in the sports world and definitely the world of helos. The rest of the team of course were there too, which was one of my favorite highlights.

Like I mentioned, this book was not as strong as the previous installment. The story line fell a little flat compare to the first book. The ending was a bit rough as well. I kept thinking I was missing pages to my copy. It’s a possibly it was the publishers doing. Nevertheless, It won’t hold me back from reading the next book. I’m hoping it will be just as good as the first book.

OK, so now it's official. I'm in like with all things 'New York Saints'! lol
I say like and not love, because the stories are just so darn CUTE! I don't know how to explain it ... there's no angst or gasping or screaming "OMG did I just read that?" but they are REALLY entertaining and quite the page turner.

I've been looking forward to Luca's story since I read The Devil in Denim. Truth be told, I can't wait for Mal's story as well. LOL

Lucas is a very successful orthopedic surgeon who is trying to juggle his surgery schedule in NYC with spring training in Florida. So he's back and forth CONSTANTLY! PS ... he has a fear of flying .. Bwaahahahahahah! So that's where Sara comes in. She is doing everything she can to keep her family’s charter helicopter business alive after her father was injured. Cue very rich man needing very desperate woman AND vise versa. BUT ... we have a problem Lucas has money, like A LOT of money and Sara doesn't. Lucas doesn't care but Sara does. Can Sara get over her hang-ups about money and trust Lucas?

READ AND YOU SHALL SEE :)

I can't say enough how reading this series really takes me to a happy place in my mind. It's not angsty or dramatic like I said before, it's just life. Pure and simple. And I REALLY liked the HEA ending :) ~~ one of my favorites!

Angel in Armani is the second book featuring the new bosses of the New York Saints baseball team. This time, Lucas Angelo, the surgeon and self-appointed sort of team doctor as well is paired with ex-army helicopter pilot Sara Charles. Lucas needs Sara’s helo services, because he is a frequent flier, going in an out from New York to Florida to watch the team’s spring training. And after a night of passion after they are both stranded due to a horrible storm, Lucas decides that he wants to pursue a relationship with Sara. Except that this no-nonsense pilot is not exactly trusting someone so far out of her league.

In terms of characters, my scale of preference tips a little bit to Sara this time (I liked Alex more than Maggie in the first book). I seriously thought that a female helicopter pilot rocked my socks off! Sara is quite gutsy, and I loved how she doesn’t know anything about baseball, which provides some fun scenes of Lucas and the rest of the Saints team trying to ‘teach’ her about the ins and outs of the game.

Sara’s main issue comes from the lack of confidence when it comes to her social class. She has quite a distrust over the rich people, which stems from one tragedy that happened to her older brother. At times, I thought this provided an interesting base of the push-and-pull between herself and Lucas. However, I must admit that near the end, it became very aggravating to the point where I was quite upset with her. I thought Sara’s reaction (in about the last two chapters) to Lucas’s priority was so very immature. But since I liked her up until that point, I guess I could forgive her (a bit).

Lucas, on the other hand, felt rather less developed for me. Yes, Lucas comes from the rich family and rebels from his family by becoming surgeon rather than dabbling in financial business. He has a fear of flying that roots from that horrible day that robs his chance as a baseball athlete. But Lucas is also so very much in control over himself so that most of the time he feels too mechanical and less nuanced compared to Sara. I’d like to see him rattled once in awhile, but heck, even Sara’s protective dog just falls head over heels in love with this guy.

Overall, I liked this book better than the previous one (The Devil in Denim). Lucas’s pursuit to ensure Sara that they can have a worthy and fun relationship, even if he is practically her ‘boss’ and that he comes from a more privileged family, was quite enjoyable to read. The story moved fast, and I loved their interactions.

Please note that the sport element is again kept out of the field since the first three books are mainly about the ‘big bosses’. So don’t expect a lot of baseball games here. Maybe later on in this series, if Ms. Scott is contracted for more books, because I see that she plans to have stories about the Saints players as well. Anyway, I look forward to reading book 3 next year about Malachi!

Ms. Scott brings us another enjoyable story involving the new owners of the New York Saints in Angel in Armani. This time up at bat is Lucas Angelo, Dr. Lucas Angelo that is. Not only is Lucas one of the new owners of the Saints, but he’s also an orthopedic surgeon. Despite his busy surgery schedule, he’s on point for overseeing the Saint’s spring training camp as the team has to recruit new talent to replace the players that left after the change in management or whose contracts weren’t renewed. As Lucas’s practice is in New York and the baseball camp is in Florida, this requires a lot of air travel and Lucas does NOT like to fly. Fortunately a previous scheduling issue with his normal helicopter pilot led him to Sara Charles and he’s utilized her services ever since then because she makes him feel safer in the air than any pilot ever has before. But when they get stranded while returning from the Hamptons, adrenaline and hormones take over and they spend one heck of a night … yowser! But a freak accident causes Sara to strand Lucas and serves to nip any romantic relationship in the bud … or does it?

Much like his friend Alex, Lucas is unexpectedly down-to-earth – unexpectedly because he comes from money and his career as a surgeon guarantees that he won’t be hurting for money either (not that it sounds like he really needs to work). Not once in the course of the book did Lucas come off as rich or entitled. The few scenes in which he seemed detached or cold were due to fear (when flying) or anger (with his mother) and were never directed toward Sara. In fact, the chemistry between him and Sara is so far from cold that they were lucky they weren’t setting things on fire around them. As for Sara, I loved her and the fact that she knew not a lick about baseball was a constant source of amusement. As a former Army helo pilot, she has an amazing strength of character and determination that encompasses most parts of her life. The exception being her relationship with Lucas; not because she doesn’t want him but because she’s afraid it won’t last and she’s not sure that’s a breakup she can handle. Fortunately for Sara (and the reader), Lucas has his own source of determination and he is set on making Sara his, willing to do what it takes to make it happen. Angel in Armani is a wonderful addition to the New York Saints series and Ms. Scott has definitely hit another home run with it. I’m looking forward to Mal’s story in Lawless in Leather and can only hope that the author will take advantage of the slew of players for future books to continue the series.

My Review:

The New York Saints series...yes, I am a fan. I spotted this series over the summer just because of the gorgeous covers...and I was intrigued. I'm easy that way, but then I read the blurbs. These books are about a down-and-almost-out professional baseball team from Staten Island that has been bought by three friends. These three rich, successful guys are tied together by their love of baseball and the fact that they are really amazing guys. So amazing that they were together during a heroic incident in college that ruined all of their baseball careers. (You need to read the books to find out the details about that.)

This particular book is about Lucas, a very successful orthopedic surgeon who's juggling his surgery schedule alongside spring training. The surgeries are in NYC; Spring Training is in Florida so he's back and forth constantly. Not a great thing for a guy with a flying phobia. That's where Sara comes in. She's piloted a helicopter for him a few times. He likes her calm competency and is attracted to her so he stays somewhat distracted by her presence while they fly. He wants her to come work as a pilot for the team.

Sara has had one awful year. Her father crashed his helicopter during a freak lightning storm and is still dealing with his injuries so she got out of the Army to come home and help with the family helicopter charter company...something that's not going so great. Luck is definitely not on her side. But Lucas is and if she will just trust him enough, she could have a really great thing here. See, Lucas is really, super rich and Sara is not. He doesn't have an issue with that, but she really does. It's a big hang-up for her dating back to her brother's untimely death.

This book sizzles. That initial scene between Lucas and Sara with the power out was scorching hot. I loved how Melanie Scott wrote that scene and explored Lucas's body with all the other senses...yes, it was absolutely just as hot as that sounds. I love stories that fall within the sports trope. This one bounces between the glitz and glamour of NYC and the summer-like atmosphere of the ball fields in spring in Florida. That kind of ambience just nailed this one for me. I loved both extremes and just thoroughly enjoyed the entire book.

And now I'm ready for Mal's book...and I just spotted his cover for the first time today. I think it's even hotter than these first two. This is definitely a series I've bought in print so it can grace the shelves of my keeper bookcase. I love the New York Saints series and highly recommend it if you like books that fall within the sports trope like me.

The story felt a bit like a modern take on the Cinderella tale -- in a fashion. It was sweet in its own way but sadly the story was a tedious read for me. Nothing much stood out in it and the characters who could have been multidimensional fell flat for me. Lucas was very controlled and at times it made him feel robotic. Sara was made to be feisty but it did not feel natural. Together they just felt...off...is the best word I have to describe it. The sort-of-proposal was cute and all because it included Sara's dog Dougal. But it felt bland. It didn't scream romance and love and I think that was one of my major issues with the story. Sara and Lucas did not feel as if they loved each other. Tolerated, liked even, with bouts of sex, but not loved. I like to feel passion between my MCs and I just didn't feel it between them. Don't get me wrong, the story was not terrible, but it is definitely not a story that I will re-read or rave about. That being said, this is purely my opinion and other readers may enjoy it more than I did -- especially if they enjoy sports-related romances.

I went into Angel in Armani genuinely excited. I remembered liking book one and was curious to learn more about Lucas, who caught my attention as a side character. Sadly, this sequel just didn’t deliver—and by the end, I wasn’t just disappointed. I was mad.

Let’s start with the writing. This book is inner dialogue HELL. Sarah thinks the same things over and over again, which drags the pacing down and makes the already long chapters feel like slow-mo purgatory. Her constant insecurity about not being “his type” becomes grating fast, and her tendency to spiral over every interaction killed any romantic tension before it had a chance to build.

Lucas, despite being the supposed love interest, barely gets any POV time. And when we do get his thoughts, they’re mostly about weather conditions or his job—not the woman he's supposedly falling for. For someone who’s deathly afraid of flying, it made zero sense that he’d be pushing to fly in the middle of a storm. You can’t call that a plot twist—it’s just lazy inconsistency.

And don’t get me started on the setup: stuck in a storm, a conveniently placed motel, one bed, no other rooms... it’s not that the tropes don’t work, it’s that they were laid on thick with no finesse. It read like a checklist of “romance-y” moments with none of the actual tension, chemistry, or buildup to make them feel earned.

Yes, the sex scenes were hot—but that’s not enough to salvage a story where the characters barely connect outside the bedroom. And the final straw? Sarah straight-up steals his car after they sleep together, leaving him stranded without a word. How am I supposed to root for her after that?

This book was all setup and no soul. I’m sad to say it, but this was a hard DNF.

Sara and Lucas story was very romantic. Sara is a helpilot and her father was in an helicoptor accident so they are left with one helicoptor instead of two and she is the only one left to fly the helicopter, this is a family owned business. Sara needs more clients and business. Sara was transporting Lucas when her helicopter was damaged. She runs into insurance red tape, father medical bills, and need a doctor to see her dad injury, if he would complice. So much is on Sara shoulder to deal with on her own. Sara was driving with Lucas during a storm when they decide to stay at a hotel for the night due to heavy lighting and trees in the road.
Sara and Lucas have strong chemistry for each other. Lucas likes Sara and wants to tell everybody about their relationship, Alex, Mal, and Maggie. Sara says give her more time before telling anyone about them. Sara has a contract with the Saint baseball team to fly Lucas back and forth whenever he needs helicopter service. Sara and Lucas are starting to seeing each more. He even helps with her dad's injury by examinting and attempted to do surgery. Sara had some issues with rich people due to how her brother was treated bad by rich people. Lucas tries to ease her concerns, and Sara leaves angrily and they part ways.
I like the fact that Lucas was not a push over and called Sara on her issues. Sara was strong, independant, loyal, determined, and family. It was endearing, family issues, pets, good supportive characters, sexy, and wonderful.

I love baseball. Hello!!! I'm from KC. I totally got Sara though, with her "I had better things to focus on than sports". I like sports, just they don't mean much to me unless it's actually interesting. Baseball has slowly become interesting to me, so I loved her journey. And I loved Lucas, and getting glimpses of the rest of the terrible trio.

This author can certainly write a great story. The banter is brilliant. The characters are well rounded, but have room to grow. Both books in this series that I have read so far have gripped me from the get-go. So looking forwards to the next book due out later this year.

She needs a miracle to save the family business.

Sara resigned from the military to help her father after her father's helo crash leaves him severely injured. With no other pilots on the roster, Charles Air is in jeopardy of closing their business. She still suffers some battle stress effects and has been left opinionated of the rich and elite because of a tragic loss too close to home that never truly met justice.

He needs someone he can trust to guide him through the hell of flying.

Lucas still, after nearly twenty years, suffers blank spots of lost time from the explosion that forever altered his life in college. He remembers running into the stadium to help trapped victims - then nothing - until he was being lifted into a medavac helicopter, strapped to a gurney. Since then, he's had a hellava time flying. He's pretty much the black sheep in his socialite family and often is made to suffer the fallout for his freedoms.

The characters are well-written with good dimension. Their interaction and dialogue is believable and their conflicts are real and not over-the-top. I feel we get a better and more rounded back story on Sara than we do Lucas, but given what we are shown of Lucas's past, there may not be too much that is desirable to share. The secondary characters add a vibrant fullness to the cast; I love Dougal. The plot is very good, if you can overlook Sara's reversed snobbery. The story flows very well, however I did seem to notice several words used that conflict with American terminology (ie: lift for elevator, flock for dress / gown, car park for parking lot). The conflicts are finally all sorted out, leaving a satisfactory and solid conclusion.

I truly liked the New York Saints Series and have to go back to read the first book in this series, even though this book could be read as a standalone. The one thing that I loved about this book as its cover and once I saw it I knew I needed to read it. The friendship that these three guys have a nice and how they combined their monies to buy a baseball team that needed work but it was going to take this doctor life in a spin. He was a brilliant surgeon but his life was going to be put to a test of flying between New York and Florida when he is not to keen about flying. But then he would meet a wonderful woman that excelled in her profession but her soft skin, her soft lips was what got him.

Lucas Angelo is a brilliant orthopedic surgeon that would take care of the players. He would be help pick out the players but would also get to know them, he after all would be treating them if they got hurt. He was a skilled surgeon that had clients that ranged from golf players to skaters. Now he would be stretched thin because he would have to fit his new business between surgeries.

Sara Charles was ex-Army and she had gotten out to help out her father’s business. She has a sad story because not only did her brother pass but her father was in helo accident during a storm. She had been hired to take a man that never spoke to Florida and something happened in their last flight. When it was time for them to leave a storm came in or should I say a hurricane.

Sara was not going to be taking Lucas back to home because there was no way that she would risk her life or his so his brilliant plan was to drive. Only they didn’t get to far because the storm was bad and a tree blocked their way. So the only thing that they could to was go check into the nearest hotel. He was a sexy man and her body was going over drive with lust. Before you knew what was happening she was one him and they both had a memorable night.

Lucas couldn’t believe that Sara had taken his car and the worst part was that she was not taking his phone calls. But he had no idea why until he needed a pilot that he trusted, the last pilot had a death wish. He had no idea that her helo had been damaged during the storm but he had the perfect job for her. She needed to find a job because the insurance company was taking to long and the longer they took the hope of keeping her father’s business open. But then Lucas shows up with the perfect job but can she work for him without jumping his bones. Something is different in Lucas he can’t stop thinking about her soft skin it’s like she has gotten under his skin he is not the type to have a relationship. The last one that he was in she talked about marriage and he doesn’t do commitments.

Angel in Armani was a great read. I know that Sara needed to understand that just because she didn’t come from money didn’t mean anything that she couldn’t trust Lucas. Class doesn’t have anything to do with anything when love is the only thing that should matter. Sara loved to fly but it was interesting how she ends up falling in love with a guy that is terrifying of flying because of what happened that horrible day. Sara was a brilliant woman but I knew that I got annoyed with her then there is Lucas. Lucas was a man that seemed too much in control. The pace of this story was perfect. Ms. Scott’s writing style is creative and enthralling. Now as for the chemistry between Sara and Lucas was sizzling hot and oh my even the first time they were together and deprived of sight their other senses were not lacking.

I can’t wait for Malachi story and would love to see if Ms. Scott has a spin off series in the works with the New York Saints.

When I first received Lawless in Leather for review, I couldn’t believe I’ve never read Melanie Scott before! How did I miss her or The New York Saints series?! I immediately went and picked up Devil in Denim and Angel in Armani . Once I’d read them both I knew this series had to be a Recommended Read but I couldn’t pick just one. How did I chose between Alex, Lucas or Malachi? So they all had to be recommended! Readers won’t be disappointed if they only read one title but you sure will be missing a treat if you don’t read all three of these books. Super sexy, filled with romance and laughter this is one series that is not to be missed!!

This book pulled me in right away. Sara is a helicopter pilot, running her dad’s charter business while he recovers from an accident. Lucas is a surgeon who also happens to co-own a baseball team with his two best friends. This requires him to do a lot of schmoozing in different places, but he doesn’t want his surgical career to suffer for it, so he’s taken to chartering helicopters to get him places.

Sara, being ex-military, is tough and professional, although she does let herself fantasize just a tiny bit about the super hot guy in the back seat. Lucas is rich, rich, rich, and also afraid of flying. Sara becomes his favorite pilot because she doesn’t require idle chitchat, and her voice is always calm.

The action picks up with a common occurrence in romance novels: Sara and Lucas are stranded by a storm and forced to share the last available hotel room, which only has one bed. I liked that Lucas kept his distance — he barely flirted with Sara. He was all prepared to try to sleep when Sara suggested otherwise, and that led to no sleep at all.

After that night, real life kicks in something fierce. Sara’s family business is barely staying afloat and her dad’s health isn’t improving. Sara might have to take another job with her ex-boyfriend, which would be even worse than it sounds. But then, guess who walk through her door with a business proposition?

I had a love/hate relationship with Sara. I loved her strength. She was a female helicopter pilot in a war zone, so she has seen and done a lot. She does not put up with crap. But that made her worrying and insecurities about Lucas seem superficial. She has a hard time understanding the world of money that Lucas comes from, and she assumes that their differences will doom them to failure. I wanted to tell her that she’s freaking Sara Charles, she can do anything she wants!

Meanwhile, Lucas was very direct about what he wanted from Sara. First, he wanted her to be his pilot. But second, he wanted to flirt with her, and take her back to bed, and enjoy her. He pursued Sara when lesser men would have given up, but he didn’t try to win her over with money. Instead, he offered her time and conversation.

There was a baseball aspect to this novel that was probably pretty cool for people who like baseball. Like Sara, I lean towards the uninterested camp. Having said that, I wasn’t bothered by the spring training scenes. A few hopeful players were highlighted to raise the stakes, and Sara’s slow integration into the team management showed how her world could expand.

Angel in Armani had a little bit of everything: travel, secret relationships, new friends, a fancy ball, even a dog! With all that going on, though, the emotional (and sexy) relationship between Sara and Lucas still carried throughout and made for a sweet, romantic story.

This book combines two of my favorites, romance and sports! I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one! Its a cute story about a doctor turned baseball team owner and a helicopter pilot who has had a spot of bad luck recently. I didn't actually know that this book was the second in the series but you don't need to read the first one to understand and love this one. Of course I recommend going back and reading the first book in the series, The Devil in Denim, or actually reading that one first but this book is a standalone book and you don't have to.


Melanie Scott has given me my new book boyfriend for the moment in Dr. Lucas Angelo! I am in love with this man. When Sara slipped away after a night of being stranded together in a hotel room and even stole his rental car, he wasn't mad at her but actually tried to contact her over and over again. He is so understanding and an all around great guy, I know I would be more than mad if someone left me stranded and I had to be at a surgery in the morning. Even the dog likes him and as Sara says, her dog doesn't like any man.


Sara is another strong character and while at times I can relate to her character there are times when I just want her to suck it up. I can understand wanting to keep things hush hush about her relationship with Lucas being that he is basically her boss along with the other two and she can get fired. I can understand it but I don't like it though trying to keep it quite is somewhat hilarious when they have such chemistry together. Scott does know how to create a great love story and dynamic between characters.


I find it unfair the way Sara treats Lucas when we get to the conflict. It is completely her fault and I fully support what Lucas had to do, yes Sara can be upset but she shouldn't end the relationship because of it and she just needed to calm down and think about it. That made me kind of hate her because Lucas is about the best that there can be and she ruins it because of something that, while personal to her, can wait a tid bit.


I would recommend this book really to anyone. If you love sport romances then this is one for you, but if you just love romance book and you don't necessarily like the sport part of them then this is also for you. Its not about an actual player, though he did play but ended up getting hurt due to doing something very heroic, but about an owner of a sports team. Yes you still get the sports part of it, which I love being that I love sport romances, but it isn't all about the sports in this one.

Earlier this year I read Devil and Denim, so when Angel in Armani became available of course I was going to read it.

And I liked it - a lot. I liked it better than Devil In Denim.

I love the tension between our Angel, Lucas Angelo and his helicopter pilot Sara Charles. Right from the start the sparks fly between them and you just know when these two get together it is going to be hot.

And it is. Though the outcome was not what you expect!

I love how Lucas chases her - he knows what he wants and is going all out to get it. I love that there isn't the insta-love relationship between them. Sure, all for the instant lust, but I loved how they had to fight for their relationship. Nothing worth having comes easy and this pair fight tooth and nail for what's good.

I can understand Sara's hesitance, but then I think, really? This is why you are holding back? Gah, I wanted to send her to have her head read lol.

Of course we got more of our characters from the first book, Alex and Maggie, and the elusive Mal. I adore the "terrible trio".

Now I can't wait to see what Ms Scott has in store for us with Mal's story - because I think it is going to be fun being taken along for the ride when he meets the woman that is going to bring him to his knees.

My feelings after reading this are pretty much the same as the ones when I finished The Devil in Denim . Kind of underwhelmed even if I liked it enough as I read it. Enjoyed the parts, but as a whole just didn't work for me. (Or maybe it's the other way?) I thought it was more readable, though. Little sense of disruptive narrative I got from the previous book, although both ended in much the same abrupt way.

I have to admit, the underlying conflict has never been my favourite. I have trouble getting on board with thoughts of "too good for anyone" because, I dunno, it's nonsense? But I tolerate it, as I do the "too different from each other". It's just that in this book, the two manifested at the end in such a ridiculous, outrageous way that left me fuming. At that point I wanted Sara to be a real person, with agency, so I could hammer some sense into her. Insecurities, I could deal with. Inappropriate immaturity (yeah, redundant)…eehhhh, not so much.

Thank gods this has Lucas, a hot man in hot suit and hot pursuit. His line, “It's just money, Sara. It's not me . . . it doesn't have to change who you are,” saved my e-reader from a good shaking. Although apparently, it takes only one night of memorable sex for him to work that charm. I didn't get the feeling he was remotely interested in Sara before, and I didn't think he and Sara have a wild, burning connection. In fact, their story largely lacks on the romance front. There's some sexual tension, but it's very tame. They read more as friends with benefits. That should have been good, I know. The problem? It's obvious they like each other, but not that they're actually in love. Bummer for classic traditional romance readers, but just OK for me.

Darn, I hope Ollie has at least a novella in his future. Poor guy. Also, I seriously dig the "no cheerleaders in baseball" running gag. Hilarious.

So…despite the rant-inducing elements, a good read. Perfectly acceptable year-ender, anyway. And I very much like Scott's writing, so it isn't all a loss.

Sometimes titles make a big difference. They can be catchy enough to draw attention, yet the stories can be disappointing. But with Melanie Scott, it’s just the opposite. Her first book in her NY Saints Series of three friends, “Devil In Denim” is what caught my attention, and I totally fell in love with Alex Winters and Maggie Jamieson and Melanie Scott!

“Angel In Armani” brings together Sara Charles and Lucas Angelo in the skies of New York, on the wings of a halo, in the depths of a passionate storm. Sara Charles is trying to salvage her father’s charter business Charles Air, and needs a miracle to help her. Lucas Angelo is a renowned orthopedic surgeon, as well as the co-owner of the NY Saints Baseball team along with his friends Alex and Malachi.

Repeated encounters in the air, and a lasting one night fiery passion, gives Lucas the perfect opportunity to hire Sara as the team’s private pilot and it gives Sara a chance to recoup her finances and salvage her father’s business. And it gives a perfect opening for Lucas and Sara to explore those sparks between them leading to an inferno of passion and love.

Sara and Lucas are two endearing independent individuals, fighting personal demons, yet trying to make a life together. Lucas is ultra protective of Sara and wants to give her the world of comfort and love, and Sara with her own insecurities tries very hard to fit into Lucas’s world of fame and paparazzi.

Melanie Scott does a fine job with Lucas and Sara, both strong and stubborn, yet smart enough to figure out the love that has been bestowed on them, with a wonderful loop of support from friends and some family. Angel In Armani is witty, lovable, graceful and just perfect for the belief in warm feelings and happy endings.

But it is a day to day struggle trying to pay the bills, deal with the insurance company, and get enough charters to keep Charles Air above water. There is no time in her life of anything else.

Dr. Lucas Angelo has chartered Sara’s helo several times. But every time she works for him, they only exchange the briefest of greetings, and then he works the rest of the flight. That doesn’t prevent her from noticing that he’s sexy as sin despite being all business. But during his current charter to the Hamptons, the weather fates intervene, and Sara finds herself grounded and sharing a room with Dr. Gorgeous. And what woman could resist a man in a tux?

After a very steamy night, Sara’s world crashes in around her when she hears the only working helo that Charles Air possesses has been badly damages. No helo, no work and no way to pay the bills. Sara does her best to put the one night stand, and Lucas, behind her. She simply doesn’t have time to do anything but try to salvage her Dad’s company. I read the first book in this series be Melanie Scott, Devil in Denim and I was blown away. It looked like a debut novel and it was absolute perfection. While sometimes that happens with a first novel, the question is can the author do it a second time and she does with Angel in Armani and Lucas and Sara.

I seriously loved this book and I LOVED Lucas and Sara and Maggie and Alex are back from the first book, along with the rest of the cast.

If you are not into baseball, don't worry, Sara isn't too.She is esssentially a flyboy and never knew a thing about baseball but the Saints are educating her. Thsi book was just as much fun as the first one and and Lucas was as romantic and wonderful as Alex was. Lucas and Sara together have a great time and fall hard and fast for each other.

Now about the plot of the story...the story opens a little different in that Sara is mostly ignored by our hero aka the Angel, a play on Lucas Angelo's last name.Lucas is a rich, orthopedic dr who also helps out his newly purchased team with fundraising and coaching.. The night the story opens up he hates to fly but he is flying with Sara to a big fundraiser in the Hamptons.

That night is pivotal to the story in that by the time the party ends there is a big storm and Sara won't fly her helicopter back and so Lucas decides to have her join him driving back. He is a big rush for a surgery he next day and that's where this story takes off....Neither Sara or Lucas are ever the same again after that night but I am not going to spoil anything.

But kudos to the author, this book was amazing and wonderful and I could not put it down. She only seems to get better and I am waiting anxiously for Mal's story.

Following The Devil In Denim by Melanie Scott is Angel in Armani. It's not as good the the first installment but it was overall an enjoyable read.

Sara Charles is a the helicopter pilot for her dad's charter business and she is flying one of the co-owners for New York Saints baseball team, Lucas Angelo. It was a unavoidable relationship as their attraction for each other was strong. After plans of a one-night-stand, lucas and Sara could not stay away. In fact, their relationship had minor conflicts that it easy to get their HEA. Possibly too easy.

This installment was a fun and sweet read. Both Sara and Lucas were great characters and I loved getting in to their heads. It was nice to see the medical POV in the sports world and definitely the world of helos. The rest of the team of course were there too, which was one of my favorite highlights.

Like I mentioned, this book was not as strong as the previous installment. The story line fell a little flat compare to the first book. The ending was a bit rough as well. I kept thinking I was missing pages to my copy. It's a possibly it was the publishers doing. Nevertheless, It won't hold me back from reading the next book. I'm hoping it will be just as good as the first book.

I like this series. The first book pulled me in, made me wonder about the characters and these 3 friends who decide they're going to buy a baseball team together. They're strong men, caring men - all around good guys! My only hang up was the word choice. The author lives in Australia, she's writing about American guys buying an American baseball team and trying to build that team up to achieve the American baseball dream - to win the WORLD SERIES! The women they love are just as American, independent, born and bred in New York. Yet, the author forgets where she's at and the UK words find their way into the narrative. I've lived abroad, my sister-in-law is British & one of my very good friends is high school was from the UK as well. I know the lingo. But I can't believe an American character would get frustrated enough to yell "WANKERS!" in any situation other than one in which they grew up in an area where that word was commonly used. And this character had not. It would be much more likely for her to yell, "ASSHOLES!" "S.O.Bs!" or something similar. One of the cardinal rules of writing is to not throw your reader out of the story. And when your story is as American as Apple Pie, hearing words that belong in another country did exactly that. In the US, we don't have lifts, we have elevators; we don't ring someone, we call them; we don't queue, we line up. The first book only had a couple slip-ups but this book had so many that could have been easily caught. Makes me wonder if there was a rush to do a US and a UK version, so much so that the editing suffered. I liked the characters and their romance made me smile - but I hate getting knocked out of the world like that.
