The bar is packed, the air buzzing with laughter and mindless chatter, but I only have eyes for my obsession. She commands my attention without trying, every move hypnotic, every glance a new addiction. There's no stopping myself tonight from intervening—I’d burn the whole place down before letting another man monopolize her time. In fact, I’ve been trying to accomplish just that. She has no clue I’ve memorized, and cataloged each curve of her body.
One bribe, and her date disappears. One mask, and my identity becomes merely a mystery. I need a date for my brother’s wedding, and after one night with her, I’ll stop at nothing to make sure she’s mine forever.
Until I realize—she’s been watching me, too, and little do I know she's harboring secrets of her own.
This game was never one-sided. The obsession was never just mine. Love was never meant to be a fair fight.
Can we survive each other, or will we succumb to the secrets we're desperate to hide?
• Mafia • Stalking from both • Good girl • 🌶️🌶️🌶️½
It's one thing to read a book about the MMC doing the stalking. Another when it's the FMC too!! They're both obsessed with one another and don't even know it. On a masquerade night, it finally brings them together. But a mafia affiliated scene cause them to reveal there identity...but not their secrets..Will the mafia be the reason Colt holds back or will Maddox finally reveal her secret..
I want to thank BookSirens and Des Sweet for the ARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Chasing an Obsession promises a dark, dangerously obsessive romance with a twisty power dynamic—and it absolutely delivers on the tension.
At first glance, it seems like a typical “he’s watching her” stalker romance, but the final lines flip the narrative with a delicious shock: she’s been watching him too. That dual-obsession element instantly adds complexity and intrigue. We’re not dealing with just one unstable mind—we’re diving into two people tangled in secrets, delusions, and deep psychological fixation. That alone makes this story stand out in the dark romance genre.
The writing is intense and vivid, especially with lines like “I’d burn the whole place down” and “memorized and cataloged each curve of her body,” which speak to the unhinged desperation of the male character. It’s possessive and primal, clearly targeting readers who love alpha energy with a sinister edge. But the fact that the woman isn’t just a passive object of desire—she’s playing her own game—adds a layer of empowerment and danger. It’s a toxic dance of obsession where neither side may come out unscathed.
If you’re into twisted, high-stakes romance where control shifts constantly, secrets pile up, and love feels more like war than peace, this sounds like it will hit all the right notes. That said, it’s likely not for the faint of heart. Expect morally gray characters, intense sexual tension, and emotional chaos.
Verdict: Obsessive, dangerous, and powerfully addictive. If you crave dark romance where both lovers are beautifully broken and equally dangerous, this might be your next favorite descent into madness.

This erotic romance dives into mild kink fantasies and Dom/Submissive behavior. There is clear chemistry between the two main characters, even before they have truly talked to each other. He has been lusting after her for months, but he doesn't realize she has only been going to his bar to "stalk" him as well. One night, one masked speed dating adventure, and our characters finally collide.
The book is thrilling and interesting and will keep you invested in the story even if it is mostly erotica. If you want a short read with a lot of spice, and have a curiosity of how these two meet, then this book is for you.
I enjoyed diving into the world of Des Sweet for the first time and I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Des Sweet's 'Chasing An Obsession' delves into a world of lust that smudges moral boundaries. The passion between characters is electric, fueling a story with suspenseful twists and turns that pin you to the page. The author weaves together a tale wherein the obsession it revolves around is unnerving but irrepressible. The ride is filled with suspense, secrets, and shocking surprises, and it's a thrilling read for fans of romance with a darker twist. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions as you make your way through this tangled web of desire and deception.
How far would you go for an obsession? This obsession is a full figured female at a bar, and things escalate from looking to stalking. It's not the creepy kind. It's the sexy hot type of stalking. The stalking goes both ways!!!!!
Did I mention, they wore masks! What now??? Silence for two months, then a face to face confrontation with truths shared, but not all the truths. Maddox has choices to make. Where will they take her? Into danger or….. The kindle is still smoking from all the smexy scenes. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.
Ten stars. Freaking amazing read. Interesting well written book with exciting twists throughout. Grabbed my attention from the first page and never lost it. Storyline was fast paced and I enjoyed reading this book.
Colt has been stalking Maddox. Every Thursday, she plays trivia at the bar he owns, and he watches her; he's obsessed with her. What he doesn't know is that she is just as crazy about him and has been stalking him in secret. When the bar has a masked match-making event, he ends up participating but he has a mask on, so she doesn't know it's him until they're already hooked up with. They have a very steamy night together!
The spicy scenes... 🥵! Their banter was amazing. It was fun seeing how into reach other they were, both trying to hide the fact that they've been watching each other from afar.
There's a bit of push and pull and tension as they both have something they're hiding from each other. Colt is in the Mafia and is worried of Maddox taking off when she finds out. And Maddox is worried about what he'll think once he hears her confession!

I always enjoy when we have a stalker FMC as much as we have a stalker MMC. The FMC's stalking abilities put the MMC's to shame.
Maddox was a badass in many ways. She was smart, sassy and challenged Colt at his own game. She was keeping more secrets than him, and I loved that! You get to read how her obsession grew, her ability to stalk him, and her grand plan of getting him to fall in love with her, but he already was.
Colt has been watching Maddox every Thursday at trivia night in his bar. He would follow her home every Thursday night 'to make sure she got home safe.' He had no idea he was just as much caught in her web as she was caught in his.
Parts I wasn't a fan of was plot in the background. It so quickly changed, that I really didn't get the point of it. I mean it ended all within a page, and I am not even sure what it was about. I either wish the backstory was more fleshed out, or not there and just have the MMC be overly obsessive.
Spice was delicious...and the beer bottle I did not expect!

Des Sweet delivers a raw, riveting exploration of desire, delusion, and the razor-thin line between passion and peril in "Chasing an Obsession". From the very first page, the book seizes your attention and refuses to let go, drawing me into a mind-bending emotional labyrinth that is as intoxicating as it is unsettling.
Sweet’s prose is sharp and cinematic, weaving psychological intensity with an undercurrent of suspense that hums like a live wire. The characters are hauntingly real—complex, flawed, and achingly human. Every page pulses with questions: What drives obsession? What are we really chasing? And at what cost?
What makes this novel exceptional is its ability to balance tension with empathy. It doesn't just chart the unraveling of a mind or a relationship—it asks you to see yourself in the unraveling. Sweet masterfully blurs the boundaries between love and fixation, truth and illusion, right and almost-right.
This is not just a psychological thriller—it’s an emotional reckoning. A fever dream you wake from only to realize you’re still inside it.
Unpredictable, elegant, and deeply affecting, "Chasing an Obsession" is a must-read for fans of psychological fiction that dares to cut close to the bone. Des Sweet has crafted a novel that lingers long after the last word.

Des Sweet does it again with this amazing book, Chasing An Obsession. This book is a 5-star read full of spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶 deliciousness. The way this book had me gasping, laughing out loud, and swooning for Colt was perfection. Colt, our MMC has a dark past that he is not proud of and there are many twists and turns in it. Family drama is thick with Colt, and he does so much to keep his family out of his personal life. He is shy, careful, passionate, and full of so much emotional turmoil that he doesn't know how to be the kind of man he knows a certain woman needs. Who knew he would find exactly what he needed in the woman he wasn't brave enough to speak to? What did he need? You will just have to read to find out. Maddox, the FMC is an amazing, strong, and beautiful curvy woman who is a handful and spicy. She has her secrets and she has her gal pals who give her the confidence boosts that make her feisty and confident. Will family drama get in the way of a happily ever after for these two? These two come together in different ways and don't even realize it until... Nope, not gonna say. This book is too much fun to bring out any spoilers. Go read this book, NOW. What are you waiting for? You won't regret it.
If you’re looking for a quick read with lots of spicy scenes get this book!!!! I devoured this in a day. Spice : 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Plot 🌀🌀
ARC review:
I really enjoyed this book—especially the romance and the chemistry between the main characters. That said, it felt more like a short story than a full-length novel. I found myself wanting more plot development and time with the characters, as the story seemed to capture just a single moment in time rather than unfolding over several months.
While I did enjoy getting to know both characters, the focus leaned heavily toward the bedroom scenes rather than deeper character arcs or a fully fleshed-out storyline. That being said, the sex scenes were incredibly well-written—intense, passionate, and absolutely hot. I loved how both characters really came into their own through those moments, and the mutual obsession was deliciously satisfying.
The FMC’s friendships were a standout for me—her girls were hilarious and offered a perfect glimpse into what true friendship looks like: a little delusional, fiercely loyal, and always ready with a reality check when needed.
Overall, I liked the book and had fun reading it, but I was left wishing for more—more depth, more story, and more time with these characters.
Chasing An Obsession is exactly what it promises: a steamy, intense descent into mutual madness. On the surface, it’s a stalker romance—but don’t get too comfortable. Just when you think you know who’s pulling the strings, Des Sweet flips the narrative and reveals that obsession isn’t a one-way street.
The chemistry between the leads crackles from page one. He’s the broody, possessive Dom type who’s been low-key stalking her for months. But surprise—she’s been doing the exact same thing. Their connection explodes during a masked speed-dating scene (yes, really), and from there, things spiral deliciously out of control. Think Dom/sub dynamics, emotional chaos, and plenty of morally gray decisions.
The writing is vivid, intense, and not for the faint of heart. If you like your romance with edge, heat, and just a touch of psychological warfare, this one delivers. It loses a star only because the plot leans heavily into the erotic over the emotional at times—but if spice is what you're after, you won’t be disappointed.
Final verdict: A thrilling, kinky power play between two obsessive minds who just might destroy each other—or fall wildly in love trying.
This was def a spicy, and more spicy fun read. I ate this up in a few hours. I liked the idea that two people are literally stalking one another and don't realize that they are stalking one another;) The chemistry between Colt and Maddox is palpable, you can feel it off the page. Both were confident, just still had a little bit of insecurity that the other won't want them. But when they get together it is like a powder keg going off... or a beer bottle.... I liked how Colt was kind of shy, a gentlemen in the beginning. Like he didn't want to try and over compensate for his attraction for Maddox. But at the same time he was rabid for her and did some highly sexual and gawd damn things to her also.
The banter was fun and the attraction was real even when they didn't know who the other one was and how far their stalking took them.
I have been a fan of Des Sweet since I read Underneath the Mask. She def has a way with masked men and what they do to get their women. Love a good stalker and wait to read more from her. I rcvd this as an adv reader copy and I am giving my honest opinion.
Chasing an obsession is a dak and dangerous romance, that does not have your typical alpha male power dynamic. There are many twists and turns, that will have you on the edge of your seat from the start. This book follows Maddox and Colt, two people who seem very different but honestly are very similar in their love language. Maddox the FMC is video game designer and loves to game with a man who does not know she exists. However, what’s a girl to do but to do some innocent lite stalking and find out where this man works and start to show up at his job every Thursday for trivia night, so she can watch the man she has become obsessed with. Then you have Colt who has become enamored by the women who started coming to his bar for trivia nights, who he just happens to follow home and tries to work up the nerve to talk to her. This book is very well written and will have you guessing if they can figure out that they are more alike than they even know. If you like a spicy dark, and obsessed MMC and a equally open minded FMC with a lot of kink and no apologies then I can not recommend this book enough.
Chasing An Obsession is the third book in the Masked Men I Love series. This is a dark stalker romance. There may be content that is sensitive for some readers so please check the trigger warnings before reading. Colt has had his sights set on the mysterious woman of his dreams for a long time, so much so that he has been stalking her to make sure she is safe. Unfortunately for Colt, he is scared to make his move because of his life and family. Maddox is completely obsessed with her mysterious online gaming buddy, that when he refused to meet with her, she decided to stalk and research him until she discovered who he was. Much like Colt, Maddox is scared to make a move because there is no way a man like him could ever possibly like a bigger girl like her. After a night of magic and chaos, Maddox gets ghosted and heartbroken. Will Colt be able to explain his absence and make things up to Maddox? Will Maddox be able to forgive Colt? This book sucked me in from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. Fantastic addition to the series and I can’t wait to see what comes next!!
Chasing an Obsession is the third series in the Masked Men series. After reading this book, Im going to have to read the first two books in the series. Chasing an Obsession follows the story of Maddox and Colt. Colt is a bartender at a bar Maddox plays trivia at. Soon Colt becomes obsessed with Maddox, and takes an opportunity with her during a masked speed dating event at the bar. Sparks fly, but he doesn’t know that she’s just as obsessed, and has been watching him longer. What can I say about this book! I knew from the dedication that this book was going to be good read. I love the unique spin that in the beginning the obsession/stalking wasn’t just one sided, I haven’t read that before. This made the chemistry between the characters extra spicy. I also enjoyed the banter between Maddox and her friends, especially in the feral squirrel group text chat. I received an advanced review copy for free from Book Sirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'll start with how much I loved the book. The plot, the interactions and the thought behind it was so immaculate. I felt this book had potential. While reading I found some inconsistencies in the book. Like for once Maddox was angry that why did he stalk her but she forgot she literally did everything to meet him. Even her friends group were annoying, they didn't what to say other than trap the man. I've loved Des's books a lot but this was not it. I found both of them to be unreasonable like he was supposed to be tough (I love me a golden retriever) but wasn't and how his story added nothing to the plot. I've loved books with daddy kink but here it gave me ick and I skimmed through the smut WHICH IS SOMETHING BECAUSE I LOVE TRASHY SMUT. The book's plot and potential was wasted with inconsistencies, unrelated plot twists and errors. Overall, the book was all over the place and needed much more editing and proofreading.
⭐:- ⭐⭐⭐/5 🌶️:-🌶️🌶️/5

This was my first book my Des Sweet. This book was a short romance. Slightly dark but more grey. Maddox the FMC is a gamer and meets Level-up-dom. She finds out who he is and stalks colt. Turns out the night after trivia at his bar, colt then stalks her. They don’t know each other of them are their stalkers yet. A masquerade speed dating was all It took for them to shoot their shot and the untangled web of stalking came about.
Overall a cute story. 3/5 rating. I wanted more. I did feel parts of It felt rushed and there was opportunity to provide more story line. I wish It went more Into the mafia side as It was just a little touch here and there. I don’t know if It was needed but gave the book a small suspense aspect.
Colt and the bar top yesss please. 🌶️🌶️
Hangs clap for the amazing best friends also!!!

Chasing an Obsession had all the elements I typically enjoy; mafia, dark romance, and stalker vibes, but unfortunately, the execution just didn’t deliver. The plot felt underdeveloped and lacked the tension or drama I expected from a story in this genre. While both the FMC and MMC were likable enough, their character arcs were flat, with little growth or emotional depth.
I was hoping for a darker, more gripping storyline, but instead, the book felt surprisingly light and low-stakes. Even the spicy scenes, which there were plenty of, fell a bit flat and didn’t add much to the connection between the characters.
Overall, this book didn’t captivate me the way I hoped it would. If you're looking for something intense or angsty, this might not be the one—but if you're new to dark romance and want something lighter, it could be worth a try.

This story has a really cool concept. Two people obsessed with each other, but neither of them realize it? I love it. The spicy scenes definitely gave what they were meant to, I definitely loved them. I found Colt and Maddox’s relationship very sweet.
Now, with that being said, I do have a few issues with the story. First is the format for text messages. The words were cut off at times and it made it hard to read. There was a chapter where they say “unalive” instead of “kill” like 3 times, which definitely took me out of the moment. And I think my main issue was the story just felt incomplete to me. It ends on a positive note, which is great, but I just felt like there needed to be more to the story. I’m not sure if there will be another book for these characters, but these are just my thoughts for this book.
This is the third and final book in the Masked Men I Love series. I loved this series and I am sad that it has come to an end. But this book ended this series on such a high note. I love the concept of this story!! He’s stalking her and she’s stalking him. And yet they have no idea they are being stalked. She’s cyber-stalking him and he’s physically stalking her. Can you imagine trying to describe their “meet-cute” to people?! I mean her friends wouldn’t bat an eye and even encourage and help with the stalking. I need friends like this in my life!! Maybe not the stalking part but doing anything to help a friend out!! Thank you, Des Sweet, for another crazy but hot stalker book boyfriend! I just keep collecting them and I can’t stop. It was an awesome story and I can’t wait to see what you release next!!
Colt and Maddox are a unique couple once they get together. Both have been stalking each other in different ways, whether online or in person, without both of them being fully aware. They both end up in a masked speed dating event at his bar, which becomes their first spicy scene following the vibe once both are seated across from each other. That first scene was hot 🔥 until interrupted. Colt is very respectful to Maddox as she didn't know it was him at first, so they stayed masked during it. This book was probably more spice than plot at about 65/35.
Who doesn't want a masked man fantasy with the masked man that will treat you with care?
Thank you, author, for the ARC! Release Date: April 16, 2025
3.5 stars⭐️ Well… I finished this in one sitting at work lol it was addictive in a way I wasn’t expecting. Honestly it was exactly what I was looking for in a mafia dark romance. I wanted more of them and to add 100 more pages.
I loved both Colt and Maddox. I love how nervous Colt was even though he’s part of a mafia family. I love how Maddox was really down for ANYTHING… girl 👀🥵
They were so hot together and the spice 😳😳😳 I was blushing.
The plot felt like it was left on the back burner and it kind of resolved rather quickly. But, honestly forgivable since I loved the couple so much and I wouldn’t have minded just reading about them/their escapades lol

Meeting online during games, Maddox becomes obsessed with Colt. Even more so when Colt refuses to tell her his name. So being the little stalker she is Maddox digs with the help of her 2 close girlfriends and find him, where he works. Starting to go to his bar every week so she can drool over him. Only she catches his eye, he becomes obsessed with her, makes her drinks because he knows how she likes them, followers her home to make sure she gets home safe. Only things start to slightly crash when Colt decides to finally meet HexXdoll (aka Maddox). Maddox believes that once he turns up and sees that it’s her, he will be angry. The sex between them, wow. It was like their bodies were made for each other. From the very first time they touched they instantly knew how to work each other.
This was a quick and very spicy read! I devoured it in just one sitting.
When both main characters secretly stalk one another without the other knowing! PERFECTION! Maddox is a gamer girl and has fallen for a guy, so she cyber stalks him when he won’t meet up with her. They track him down and start attending trivia nights at the bar he works. Colt then stalks her back, but in person. He has no idea that she is the same gamer girl he is falling for.
When they meet at the masked event sparks fly quickly! They can’t keep their hands off one another and it heats up fast. I loved the witty banter between the characters also. Maddox has a sassy mouth on her and Colt is just the one to punish her for it.
DesSweet writes some of my favente masked Stalkers ever. And my dear Colt is no exception. Matia main man steps aside to make sure his brother is safe from it all. Opens a Bar and one Day Maddox come walking in. Let's say Maddox is a stalker herself and definitely has done her fair amount of stalking on Colt. There Stalking each other and it's the best unhinged obsessed Stalking ever.
The intensity, sexual, raw and unhinged is felt all the these pages. Then the girl code Maddox has with her friends is the best ever. There texts back and forth is hilarisus and even there interactions with one another is the funniest shit ever. Perfect HEA obsessed stalker romance. So fucken unhinged I love it.
"Chasing an Obsession" was a short, not too dark, and surprisingly charming read, despite stalker behavior from both main characters and some light mafia involvement. Sidekick Sam described it best: "It's pretty cute. You're both a couple of stalkers." I didn't care for all the kinky parts, but it was a high level of spice in general.
What bothered me was that everything seemed superficial except for the obsessive thinking of both main characters, from the gaming interest to the mafia connections and the characters' personalities. I got no real connection to the characters and didn't feel very invested in the plot.

This is a double stalker book. It is actually the third book of the Masked Men I Love series. We start the story with bartender Colt. Every Thursday a group of girls comes in to drink and play the trivia game. He watches “her” and obsesses over “her”. He even followed her home the first time. The girl, Maddox, is actually a stalker as well. She is stalking a boy she plays on-line games with. It turns out, they are stalking each other without knowing it. I’ve never read a double stalker book with each one unknowingly stalking the other. I love the interplay between the two of them. They are both intent on what they want and it’s spicy. I loved it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Colt is just yummy morally-gray stalker perfection. "She doesn’t realize that I’m watching her, that she belongs to me. Or that I’ve been stalking her for months."
Maddox's inner monologue had me laughing. She is hilarious in the best morally-gray way.
He's obsessed, she's obsessed, what is not to love about this plot? Between the flirty banter, the secrets, and the spice I had the best time reading this book.
To say I was entertained was putting it mildly. If you too are in your 'stalker book era' this is a must-read.
I'd like to ask how this truly converts to a masked man book when it's barely a mentioned thing and that is only through the speed dating at a club, which lasts for a few hours. (And briefly again when they reconnect.) It's my understanding that a masked man book is meant to be the type where there's true stalking involved, or attacks, or something that literally means hiding who the person behind it is, not just for mysterious qualities during a club thing.
However, the plot was cute (and way too corny at times) and it made for fun times to be had, even if it wasn't all that plausible. The spice, when it happened, was spicy and fairly explicitly detailed so just a heads up there for those that like the closed-door romances. This is not one of them.
