Sexy indulgence is in the air this holiday season in these two stories!

SEX, LIES AND MISTLETOE

Undercover DEA agent Caleb Black is home for the holidays—possibly to bust his own father. But maybe Caleb's con-man dad isn't the one running drugs. Maybe it's green-eyed goddess Pandora Easton and her irresistible aphrodisiacs. Whatever the cause, his investigation keeps bringing him right back to Pandora…and her bed!

UNDER WRAPS

When Marnie Wainwright discovers she's being watched by a deliciously hot private investigator, her wildest fantasies come true. Especially once she and her PI, Jake Brennan, spend the holidays at a quaint inn that caters to sensually adventurous couples. Despite the sexy play, she can't shake the idea that she's still his number one suspect!

Undercover Festivities is a compilation of two stories, Sex, Lies and Mistletoe by Tawny Weber, and Under Wraps by Joanne Rock. I won this book in a give-a-way package by one of the authors.

Sex, Lies and Mistletoe by Tawny Weber
Caleb Black is a burnt out DEA agent and has handed in his resignation. He’s been so deep undercover for so long, he doesn’t even remember who he is anymore. But his friend and partner wants one more job out of him. He wants him to go back to his home town of Black Oak, CA to investigate a new drug that has hit the streets. Caleb’s dad, a man with quite the past of his own, is at the top of the suspects list. Instead, Caleb finds a beautiful, quirky woman running a new café that sells foods that she claims contain aphrodisiacs that will get the lowest of libidos off and running. Pandora Easton is nothing like the usual woman Caleb is attracted to. But he finds himself drawn to her in a way that has never happened before. Pandora whips up a meal full of all her aphrodisiac laden treats sure to make sure she and Caleb have a night to remember. But one night is never going to be enough. Caleb still has to find out who is the ring leader of the drug ring and Pandora’s shop is somehow right in the middle of it all.

kissing against the wall:

This was my very first Tawny Weber book and I loved it. Pandora and Caleb were amazing. I loved them both.

Under Wraps by Joanne Rock
Marnie Wainwright got dumped by her boyfriend and fired from her job at a prestigious travel agency. So she decided to pursue a dream of hers and start her own company, Lose Yourself. Jake Brennan has been hired by the company that fired Marnie to investigate 2.5 million dollars that is missing. All leads point to Marnie so he installs a secret camera to watch her business dealings. After two months he is convinced that Marnie is innocent but now he is interested in her for completely different reasons. Before he can pursue those, she discovers the camera. After Jake explains himself, he and Marnie put their heads together to find out who is embezzling the money from her ex-boss and why are they framing her. Their leads take them to an exclusive club called Marquis that deals with the sexually adventurous types. Marnie and Jake pose as a couple and decide to spend a few days at Marquis to see if they can find out anything. With all the sexual innuendo in addition to the already electric attraction between them, Marnie and Jake find it impossible to keep their hands off of each other. But with a blinding snow storm and danger lurking around every corner, Marnie and Jake are in for a wild ride.

Life is Beautiful http://all-things-bright-and-beyootiful.tumblr.com/

This was a fast paced, sizzling sexy story. Neither Jake nor Marnie expected their hearts to become involved and Jake will do whatever it takes to keep Marnie safe. But what happens once they go back to Miami? Could Marnie ever fit in to Jake’s dangerous lifestyle? Or will he have to do what’s best for Marnie and let her go?

Both of these were sexy, fast paced, suspenseful holiday stories. I loved them both.

Overall Verdict: 8 sprigs of mistletoe (or Christmas trees, what have you) out of 10

Sex, Lies, and Mistletoe by Tawny Weber

6 aphrodisiacs out of 10.

Caleb Black, a white knight in a black leather jacket if ever there was one, left me wishing I could've spent more time with him throughout the story. Pandora Easton, on the other hand, never really resonated with me as a heroine. Maybe my standards for romance heroines are too high, but she was just this bland good girl who kept whining about growing up in her mother's shadow and how her ex-lover left her unable to trust her own intuition.

As for the mystery, I figured out rather early on that was involved in the drug ring, but that's fine; while Pandora's aphrodisiacs would've fit right in in a culinary mystery novel, I was fine with the investigation taking a backseat to the romance.

Under Wraps by Joanne Rock

8 masquerade masks out of 10.

Joanne Rock certainly brought the heat with this story (and not just because I wish a place like the Marquis actually did exist!). Jake Brennan was this sexy, protective P.I. while Marnie Wainwright was a smart, determined heroine with a zest for life. Together, their chemistry was on fire! Meanwhile, the side characters, Lianna and Rico, were cute together, but I could've done with a little less of them and a little more of Jake and Marnie.

As for the mystery, I felt it was well-crafted, the author even having me second-guess the culprit's identity at one point. Although, I will say that there was enough drama going on with the mystery plotline that the stuff with Jake keeping Marnie at arm's length just felt unnecessary. Like, other than to pad out the story, what purpose did it serve and why can't the two of them just ride off into the sunset together as soon as the case is wrapped up?
