The book was okay, but not one of my favorite Rebels books. It focused on Kanan Jarrus and his thoughts and actions in episodes 1,2, and 5 of the tv show. It was overall a nice book, but it skipped around a lot and didn't have much detail. I did like the extra content though, like memories from his past and talk of his former master. I did think those scenes were enjoyable. My favorite part of this book was the holocron that came with it. You get to open it and see little pictures of the Ghost crew. I love how it folds and it is made really well. I love it! There is also a code inside that unlocks a cool website. I recommend buying the book simply to have the cute little holocron! :D
- The "Holocron Toy" is just 2 pieces of cardboard glued together that you can fold open and see inside. So I don't really consider it a toy. And it doesn't fold into a cube, it just has a picture of a cube on each side. Each flap has a tiny picture, some feature the crew's lower body only.
- The website for the extras is gone, at the moment there's a website in Chinese where you can download mobile apps. If they weren't planning to keep the website for more than a couple of years it would've been better to make a section in the editorial's website. The book is still being sold as new, so I consider this to be pretty near to false advertising.
- The content is a retelling of Rebels season 1, written for kids. With a few screenshots directly from the show. Nothing new. If you already watched the show with your kid, this might be a boring experience.
If you are a die hard fan of Star Wars: Rebels and want to know more about the origin and motivations of Kanan Jarrus, you must read this comic, it's fun, endearing and well written.
