Only By Moonlight is the third book in the paranormal series featuring psychic LaShaun Rousselle and Deputy Chase Broussard. Lovely Vermilion Parish, Louisiana is teeming with bloody secrets. LaShaun is once more called on to use her paranormal ability to solve a mystery. In Only By Moonlight what starts out as a simple case of wild teenagers dabbling in the occult turns out to be just one layer to a far darker and deeper plot. A formidable cult is determined to unleash a malevolent force on the world. To her horror, Chase seems possessed by the threat LaShaun is fighting to defeat. Will she have to kill Chase to save him? LaShaun wages a war she can't afford to lose.
I won this book through GoodReads first read program.
This is book three in the LaShaun Rousselle series. I think it is important to read the first two in the series before getting to this one since there is a lot of carry over in the series.
In this book LaShaun faces demon possession and satanic worship. There is a demon out there who may have possessed her fiancé Chase Broussard. Chase is acting odd at times. He is also running for Sheriff and those two things don't go together well. There are also kids who appear to be worshiping Satan. When a high powered attorney comes to town to attempt to get Manny, the Blood River Killer from the last book, free with the help of LaShaun's former lover and bad boy Quentin the previous books become important background for this book.
Although the 3rd book in a series it can be read as a standalone. The references to previous happenings don't detract from the current story, or more accurately, didn't for me. What it did do is make me consider buying the others. Yes, of course that means I enjoyed this one.
New threats and a deeper love. There is so much beauty and danger in this story. Lynn Emery takes you to a new level of horror and deception that will chill your bones and make you want to cheer that much harder for Lashaun and Chase. A fantastic continuation of a wonderful series.
