Patches and Buttons by Jennifer Link

Rate this book
Younger children might be afraid of noises and this book might be able to help them. Patches, a dog, and Buttons a bunny live in the same house. Buttons seems to be afraid of almost all the noises in the house from Patches barking to the vacuum cleaner running and even the water in the bathtub. Buttons feels safest in his cage and wants nothing more to do but go into it and hide. Patches the dog, wants to play and even brings him a toy to play with.

The pictures are large and colorful and the wording is easy for a young child to understand, think this will be a help for some children to read who get scared easily.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Patches & Buttons is a cute children's story that is written and illustrated by Jennifer Link. Buttons is an adorable bunny that seems afraid of everything, especially loud noises and the dog named Patches.

It is 36 pages, with an illustration every other page. Buttons the bunny likes to hide when he is scared. The story culminates with Patches wanting to play with Buttons and bringing him a toy, and Buttons finally manages to get over his fear and be friends with Patches.

This book is quite simplistic but cute, fun, and easy to read. My son loves it, and we have already read it more than 5 times since it came in the mail. It has the toddler stamp of approval. The illustrations are vivid and go along with the story very well.

I give the book 4 out of 5 stars. Very cute and fun to share with little ones. An enjoyable read from the realm of children's books.

REVIEW

This is a children's book about Patches, a dog and Buttons, the bunny rabbit. Buttons is scared of Patches. Buttons is a timid little bunny and the big, barking dog scares Buttons. Buttons is afraid of a lot of things. The book has bright colors in the illustrations and they are realistic and cartoon like. The book was written in such a manner that it is short enough to keep young ones attention. We all know that little ones attention span is very short. The story shows little ones, you don't have to be afraid just because of being different. You can find friendship with others that are different than you. A cute little book that can be read over and over again with lovely illustrations. Little ones and even young hearters will love it.

I was given a complimentary copy of PATCHES & BUTTONS from the author, Jennifer Link and OutSkirtsPress for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.

About the Author:

Jennifer Link was born and raised in Michigan where she obtained her background in Multimedia, Fine Art, and Crafts. She obtained her B.S. Degree in Animation in 2009 while studying at Westwood College. During this time she discovered how to combine traditional drawing with digital art. Her love for children, and obsession with all things art led her down the path of children's book publishing.

My Review:

It usually isn't a good combination of pets when you have a dog and a bunny in the same house, but I chose to believe upon receiving this book entitled, Patches&Buttons that it would all work out for the best. Poor little Buttons is a small, white bunny that is terrified of the other pet in the house, patches. Patches appears to be a full grown Collie, and even though Buttons is very afraid of just about every noise in the house even Patches, Patches doesn't seem one bit phased by this or say you may think.

Buttons likes to stay in his cage because that is where he feels safest But Patches soon realizes the fear that this small animal feels and decides to bring a peace offering in the form of a small stuffed elephant. And its not long before their friendship grows by leaps and bounds. This is a sweet children's book based on friendship and the fears it sometimes brings. Perfect for beginning readers but great as a read aloud as well.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.

This book is adorable! It kept Rosalie’s attention and that’s hard to do! I think this book teaches a lesson in friendship! I think my favorite part of the book was when Patches took the little Stuffed Elephant to Buttons & they started playing! Rosalie kept saying, “Dog. Buh.” While pointing at the dog & the bunny. Michael says that Patches the dog reminds him of our dog, Cleo, because she is one that would become friends with a Bunny! We have had bunnies before & when the little bitty babies would get out of their cages right after birth, Cleo would simply put them in her mouth & bring them to us so we could figure out where they went!

The pictures in the book are super cute also! While this book is a little easy for Michael to read, I think it will be a perfect book for Connor to read for his reading homework! I’m not sure if Connor is behind on his reading, or if Michael is just more advanced, but there is a world of difference between their reading skills! However, Connor tries & is getting better daily, so he will be excited to be able to read this one!

Thank you, Jennifer Link, for letting us read about the blooming friendship between Patches & Buttons!

Buttons is a bunny who is easy to scare. Patches is a very noisy dog and scares Buttons all the time. How will these two animals learn to live together?
My Opinion: I think this book is good because it teaches an important lesson about friendship. The pictures were fun, too. My favorite part was when buttons got scared by the vacuum cleaner. I rate this book 5 stars.
My siblings Opinion: I read this book to my younger siblings. They said “ I think the animals will learn to love each other." and "I like this book because I had never before seen a dog and bunny get along." and "My favorite part was when the bunny hid behind the towels." I think they really liked the book so thank you, Jennifer Link for letting us enjoy this book!

I want to start this review by thanking both the books author and Bostick Communications for allowing me to read and review this book.

This beautifully written and Illustrated book was well worth the five stars I gave it and I would have give it more if I could have done. The story was a lovely endearing one about a rabbit whos scared and a dog who wants go be the rabbits friend.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story to my son although I'm not sure he enjoyed it as much but I feel sure that as he gets older he will grow to love it.

I can say without reservation that I will not only reccommend the book to other people but it will also be one that I buy for other children as a gift.
