I love the Pokemon Adventures series, but I have to say that Emerald is my least favorite main character so far. I mean, come on. If one of his opening lines is "I don't like Pokemon. I like Pokemon battles!", then I'm already not interested. And he somehow has a telepathic connection with Latios and Latias? Really? Will it ever be explained and will it make me care about Emerald?

My level of caring for his mechanical arms is very low, as well. Using those calming pellets during the battle with Noland should probably have been considered cheating, had anyone noticed. Using items was against the rules, so... But it's okay because the sceptile wasn't legal and someone used poison sting on it, right? Right??

It took way too long to even hint at the greater story arc. I want to know how Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Silver are all going to be saved. Also, where did Emerald get that pokedex?!

Not a huge fan of Emerald as a person, and the battle front setting seems weird. I haven’t connected to any characters yet, and this particular novel felt kind of useless, but of course I’ll keep reading and see what’s going on. If my boi Ruby shows up in this arc, I’ll be a happy reader.

Me gustó mucho el cierre del arco del quinto capítulo, fue una gran entrega cargada de nostalgia y continuidad para los protagonistas originales, pero sin dejar de lado aún así una muy buena historia en ello, resultó ser emotiva y emocionante.

El paso al sexto capítulo fue muy radical al presentarte algo que no parece tener nada de relación con sucesos previos pero le doy el beneficio de la duda, no es una formula nueva en la serie. Me agradó la presentación de Pokémon pero de nuevo resulta muy confuso, más siendo en blanco y negro, la forma en que se desenvuelven las batallas. Quedo intrigado por ver como seguirá la narrativa, nada del otro mundo pero muy emocionante, he de decir.

This volume is small and only really introduces us to our new main characters. Emerald's a bit of a brat, but that's okay. Some of the others were at first, too. Heck, Gold is still a brat. How does Emerald not like pokemon and supposedly doesn't have any of his own, yet Latios and Latias are clearly his friends and partners? Whatever, let's see what happens in the next volume.

The Battle Frontier is pretty cool, though. So is Emerald's little dirt gun.

This brings the Deoxys plot to a close which I really enjoyed. Then it jumps right to the Battle Frontier and Emerald. Emerald is a fairly obnoxious character who I don't like, which kinda ruins this volume.

Un comienzo divertido a este nueva saga. Emerald como protagonista me divierte bastante. La trama de la batalla de la frontera está siendo muy entretenida. Con la trama del pokemon mitico, soy un poco mas ambivalente. No me mató, pero tampoco la odié. Veremos como sigue.

5 sao. Emerald cậu bạn bé nhỏ phiền phức, nhân vật ngố tàu đáng yêu, bao nhiêu tính từ để giải thích cho đủ đây :)) Từ lúc bắt đầu xuất hiện với chiếc áo dài quá khổ, chiếc dài độn gấp 3 bình thường cùng quả tóc bánh sừng bò thì đây quả thật là một nhân vật chính triển vọng.

Đây là chuyến hành trình thứ 6 mang tên Emerald, kéo dài từ vol 26.5 - 29, diễn ra ở vùng Hoenn. Cũng khá là ngu ngốc khi mình cứ nghĩ Hoenn sẽ chỉ có 2 nhà huấn luyện đại diện là Ruby và Sapphire (vì câu chuyện của hai bạn nhỏ này cũng khá chỉn chu rồi) nhưng mấy ông tác giả cứ phải thích thêm vào cho đủ 3 mới được cơ đấy. Con số huyền thoại của Pokemon, há há. Kể ra cũng hợp lí vì phải cho chi tiết là chú Pokemon Cỏ cuối cùng của giáo sư Odamaki thuộc về đứa lỏi nào đó chứ nhỉ? (Chưa kể là hồi lũ lụt trước ở Ruby - Sapphire, ông già dầm mưa ra đứng chờ ai để trao Pokemon và từ điển nữa cơ, thật sự là truyện xây dựng đỉnh cao của logic luôn á).

Thú vị nhất của phần truyện ở Hoenn là mỗi nhà huấn luyện đại diện cho một cuộc thi khác nhau: Trước là có Ruby tham gia Hội diễn Pokemon, Sapphire tham gia các nhà thi đấu thì giờ Emerald đi lượm mấy cái huy hiệu ở Đầu não giao đấu. 7 cuộc thi phải nói là siêu, siêu khắc nghiệt nhưng qua mỗi cuộc thi lại càng ấn tượng với khí chất chiến đấu của cậu bé. Đỉnh của chóp Emerald ơi.

Bùng nổ nhất của phần truyện này là khi 10 nhà thi đấu chiến đấu bên nhau và tạo nên màn trình diễn nghẹt thở. Kể cả nhân vật phản diện cũng phải lôi hẳn một ông xuất hiện từ những tập trước (thủ lĩnh Băng Thủy Hạm - Team Aqua) cho có chút hoài niệm. Bất ngờ thú vị nhất với mình là bé Gold, ông tướng có vẻ chững chạc hơn so với trước. Cuộc chiến đấu chống lại thủy quái thật sự đỉnh. Với ba con Pokemon mỗi hệ (Lửa - Nước - Cỏ - Điện), chiến thắng này thật sự hoành tráng.

3.5/5. There's not really much to say about this volume, it is shorter than the ones before it. This chapter takes place after the battle against Team Rocket in the 5th chapter (and after Sird petrifies 5 of the Pokedex Holders) and follows Emerald, a young boy whom arrives at the Battle Frontier in Hoenn.

Not too much meat in this volume; we follow Emerald as he angers the Frontier Brains and challenges Noland, and learn that he has a connection to Latios and Latias, and that there is a villain lurking in the shadows of the Battle Frontier, but not much else.

Personally, I don't like Emerald too much, he seems really over-the-top with all the gadgets and personally I would've preferred Wally as the main character to represent the Emerald games instead. Emerald dislikes Pokemon but likes Pokemon battles and it is never explained how he got so good at them (how can he be good if he has no Pokemon and never has!?). Oh well, interested to see where the story takes off and what will become of Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Silver. Also, I love that Crystal made a cameo, meaning she will appear more in this chapter.

Ooooooookkkkkkkk I was a little shaky on Ruby when I first met him but he became fairly good in the end but besides that there has been no main character I really didn't like ... Until now. Emerald is well kinda annoying I'm sure in the end he'll be fine but I am glade he is only getting half a series. He seems like a character that will work better as a supporting character rather than a main protagonist.

I'm with the reporters in the crowd on this one. An absolute overload of pointless, no stakes battling leaves this being an incredibly boring volume.
