Fifteen years after the accident that destroyed his family, Jackson Avery is at the top of his field. Only one thing stands between him and his promotion to the college degree he failed to complete before tragedy struck.
Going back to college to finish his degree after fifteen years in the working world sounds insane, but the board insists Jack do it before inheriting the big chair. To help him out, his mentor introduces him to Marcie, a fresh-faced student pledging the Delta Rho sorority. She'll guide him through campus life, and he'll keep her out of trouble during the semester.
But trouble is closer than either of them realize. Delta Rho is ultra-exclusive, secretive, and filled with beautiful women half Jack's age. And when Jack inserts himself into their business in order to save a pledge in peril, he discovers that college girls aren't shy about pursuing an older man who knows how to handle them.
The cover image and blurb would lead you to believe that this is just a blend of wish fulfilment and sex. And indeed, that's exactly what is.
Unfortunately, even by those standards, this book is not…great.
The premise is meant to be that, for plot reasons, a successful, well off guy is forced to spend a semester at college to finish off the degree he abandoned years ago; being well off, confident, and experienced, he's like catnip to a bunch of college girls, and he has ridiculously great time.
So far, so good, although it's the type of premise more likely to appeal to lonely college students dreaming of a better future than *actual* successful older guys. But the execution is so erratic it's hard to really get into it.
The book really needs an editing pass to smooth off the rough edges. Slow things down a hair, sell the protagonist's need to spend a semester at college better, make his actions feel slightly more plausible.
For example: Why not say the protagonist has just sold the startup he dropped out of school to start for many millions of dollars to Google, but has been feeling burnt out, and since he recently found his wife was cheating on him and divorced her, he decides he might as well go back and finish college while he thinks about what do do next? That makes the protagonist going back to school much more plausible, makes his financial situation make far more sense, makes his interest in casual sex with multiple women more reasonable, still gives him a *slightly* tragic backstory, makes the idea that he's sexually experienced enough to please multiple women more plausible, etc.
Meh. Not unpleasant to read, but you've got to work hard to just not think about whether any of the events occurring make sense.
This was like 25% as long as i expected but like 200% hotter. The circumstances for the ceo to be going back to college years later to finish a degree are a bit contrived but not overly so. The lead MC isn't obnoxiously suffering "main Male lead alfa syndrome" but gets a wakeup call and a newly ignited sex drive this book so I hope he doesn't backslide into a "generic harem mc" The steam and spice go up fast given the limited page count and dont disappoint or shy away from it. Lastly, there is even a bit of a fun explanation for why this is about to become a harem series other than "because the lead just can't decide " or "because" . I recommend reading if older guys x college campuses interest you or if.....
[small spoilers for names used in sex scenes]
you like when they call thier mid 40s Dom "Daddy" (bit don't lean into any age regression other than being called babbygirl) i add this because i know it can be a big turn off for some when you dont know it's coming so wanted to inform potential readers.
Words Dropout Pledged To Him I couldn't drop this, and yet the words WTF fell out of my mouth with the TWIST. The unexpected, perhaps. However, I did enjoy 'Pledged To Him.' But from this genre or this writer, perhaps. When things start getting real… Anyway, of course, my favorite part was the whole Daddy and Babygirl angle, which makes me think about wanting to give it the good ole college try once. But yeah, more adult universe and less real. It's been a minute.
It's not something I would necessarily recommend to friends given the beginning's "realness." But everything else after that. And especially the promise that Jackson Avery made. Neil Bimbeau never disappoints. Only be ready for some darkness and also the heroics.
Went from a really good and fun story to dumpster fire in the span of like 5 pages. I was thoroughly enjoying the story till the sorority queen decided to play her stupid games. No one likes blackmail, even implied, or stuff like that. Instantly killed the story and fun.
Every guy wants to goto college to meet pretty girls, but when your in your 40's, you don't plan to go back unless your job makes you. Thats what happens here. Sorority girls are hot, but here they're super hot. Being ba**s deep in a super sexy Sorority girl is a dream and for her to love it and call you "Daddy" is the best...
It was great how the author managed to give the main character a new lease on life. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the future books in the series.
The story and setup have been perfect for a really good short series. I like the characters and the interactions, as well as the hotter scenes are well written!
To become the CEO of a company the MC has to make his degree first and goes back to college.
For my taste the beginning was too long winded and later his first conquest was way too fast and easy. All girls he meets seems to have a "daddy" kink. I don't think I read more of this series.
This is a first type of books ive read that goes down this lane but i have to say i am definitely not opposed to it! Love it so far! Wish it was longer but im excited for more of other books!
This is a fast I tri to college life. What a great night for our hero and his lady. I can't believe how well it was written. I think I'll love the pledges.
Jack is expected to become the next CEO at a top engineering firm where he has worked for the last 15 years. The only thing preventing that is he is one semester short of obtaining his college degree. So begins the premise of the story. The story develops at a nature pace, is well written with characters that are grounded and interesting. The erotic elements are very well written and enter seamlessly into the overall story. Pledged to Him is an entertaining and fun series.
You go into this thinking it’s probably going to be corny… and then BAM, it’s actually really good. And spicy. Very spicy.
Jackson is an older, wealthy guy who returns to college to finish his degree and immediately stands out on campus. He gets pulled into the world of a sorority, and things escalate fast, attraction, tension, and dynamics that are absolutely not subtle. What surprised me is how quickly I got invested instead of just skimming for the heat.
There’s more going on than just spice, though. You get sorority politics, secrets, and a slow drip of mystery that hints something bigger is happening behind the scenes. Add in jealousy, power imbalance drama, and emotional complications, and suddenly you’re not just reading for the heat, you actually want to know what’s coming next.
It’s the first book in a six-book series, and it definitely feels like a setup for bigger drama down the line. Messy, indulgent, dramatic, and fun, with enough plot to keep things moving and enough spice to keep things interesting. I really liked it a lot and I’m curious to see where the series goes next.
