Together, they'll make the man who held her captive pay. But he doesn't count on what a temptation Rose can be.
She wants to share his bed, but is she ready after the trauma she's suffered? Or is she damned?
Cynthia Rayne is a USA TODAY bestselling author of the Black Star Security, Kinky Security, Lone Star Mobster, and the Four Horsemen MC Series. While Cynthia was born and raised a damn Yankee in Ohio, her parents hail from Dixie, and she grew up on homemade buttermilk biscuits and southern wisdom. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, reading way too many romance novels, and drinking a truly obscene amount of coffee.
This is the best one yet in this series Rose and Duke two damaged people finding each other and finding t h at even though they are in so many ways including age very different people but down deep they are very much alike . They teach each other to love and trust again cannot wait to read Eddie's story
Can I just say how much I love it when an author keeps growing and moving in the right direction?! I find myself enjoying each new Four Horsemen MC book better than the last. And for you May/December romance lovers out there- you are going love this one! Funny thing is, I ‘m usually not a fan of a huge age gap (19/38ish) but the way Damned is written and with the abuse Daisy has suffered, which I feels ages her, I don’t really have an issue with the age difference.
At its heart, Damned is a story of a survivor taking back what’s hers. Her strength, her lust for life, her sexuality, and her heart: things that can be broken, but never fully taken unless given. Daisy reclaims it all.
Yes, Duke is a tough, terrifying hellion with a sour disposition, but he is also a care giver. Being a medic isn’t the only healing qualities about Duke. He understands Daisy and her issues on so many levels, and understanding has no age gap.
I do wish the ending had more. It felt a bit rushed and I wanted to luxuriate in it and revel with Daisy. She deserved it.
SO excited for the next book in the Series! Eddie gets a man!!!!! And of course finally getting Pretty Boy and Shepherds story….. GAH!

★Review★
Again another great addition in the series.
The series as a whole seems to be getting darker as it goes on.
There are some trigger scenes in this book, descriptions of sexual abuse and self harm.
I liked how the romance between Duke and Rose developed, although at the end, it for me, seemed a little rushed, after them denying they were anything serious, to suddenly being committed, but as with previous couples from the series, I hope we get to see their story continue on as the series goes on.
Duke was not what I expected from previous books. He was more and less in different ways. He had more depth to him, a hidden pain and a vulnerability to him. Yet, especially at the end, he seemed not as skilled or as efficient as he should be given he is the clubs enforcer. Although in saying that I am glad it was Rose who managed to get the payback for herself.
But, overall, an enjoyable 4 star read, and I did really love Duke and Rose as separate characters and as a couple, and how Rose grew in this book, and changed to get her life back.
I really really really want Shep's book now though!!
*Feb 9 2015* Ok so author's website says that it will be out Feb 17th. So hopefully it won't change again. I really liked the first 2 in this series and I don't want to let the delaying effect my rating, hopefully this is super good cause I'm very much excited to read it. Hopefully worth the wait.
*Feb 8 2015* So the release date has come and gone and no word from the author why this hasn't been released yet. At this point I feel really jerked around. The constantly moved back release date wouldn't bug me so much if the author would just communicate with us. Let us know when it will be out. That is literally all I want, to know when it will be out and for it to be a firm no changing date. I don't think that's asking for a lot. I know that stuff comes up, that life can get in the way of a release date, but just tell us! Like straight up, "sorry guys but this or this happened and the book needs to be moved" Just communicate with your readers! They will understand!!
*Jan 31 2015* Sigh now Goodreads says Feb 6th. That makes me sad, I really wanna read this.
*Jan 25th 2015* A tentative Jan 31st release date is what the authors Facebook says. So I'm crossing my fingers that is when it will come out. Waiting is killing me!
3.5 Stars for me It started off with a bang but somewhere along the fizzled out for me. I liked the concept of the romance between Rose and Duke even with the 19 year difference in age. Duke is your usual OTT alpha hot sexy biker who has a very dark past filled with abuse. He can understand the emotional baggage Rose is dragging along with her because of her own imprisonment by a man who abused her greatly. Duke is the MC member that rescues her from a cage she has been put in after horrific sexual and physical abuse. She also has experienced a terrible childhood, basically being raised by her sister Daisy. It's not insta-love and the author takes time to build the relationship. There were so many things I noticed that went beyond believable in the story even if I was wearing my "this is fictional romance" hat. Duke is into BDSM and even has a dungeon with all of the hard core BDSM paraphernalia. At most the BDSM scenes can be considered lite-lite. So much focus on the dungeon and Duke being a dominant kind of fell flat with the actual BDSM sex scenes. Rose adapts and actually begs for the BDSM from Duke even after all of her torture. Then there's the conversion of Rose from a shy, introverted, solitary girl into Rambo Bambi who goes with Duke to kill the bad guy and Duke decides to take on the bad guys with just himself and Rose. That really made me roll my eyes. But Rose kills the bad guy while Duke is unconscious from being shot. There's a HEA and no cheating after commitment. And the most aggravating factor, if I read another time about Daisy crowing "I'm a Marine and I'm a badass", I think I'll be sick. That was repeated so many times in Daisy's book and in this book every time she shows up we hear again how Daisy is a bad ass ex Marine. Enough already. I am looking forward to book 5, which will be Shep's story.

Wow through all the heartbreak terrible things that happened love conquers all!
This one is the best of the series by far. So much character growth and a great plot.
Duke is so heartbreakingly wonderful. He learned how to open up and start to heal as he tried to help Rose heal. They are so darn perfect for each other.
Rose and Duke’s character development in this book was really good. Duke wanted to stay away from Ro but he just couldn’t. Another great book in the series and I’m really picky when it comes to MC books. Two things that bothered me were and that is why I took a star off my rating. What happened to Lisa/Chesty? That was left open and that I wanted Ryker and Duke to work out their differences. I didn’t like Ryker in this book. So Shep’s book is coming out soon but seriously I need one with Voodoo, Steele and Coyote.
OKay, I was soooo looking forward to this book... well I did enjoyed it but I thought it going to be more dark and twisted !! it was more like touch and go with the darkness or maybe I'm too into different kinds of books..

But I really do enjoy this series so I am looking forward for the next books :)
Let me start off by saying that I have a deep respect for all writers of any kind and in any genre. And I normally do not post negative reviews of a story that I did not like, but sometimes I can't control myself.
I must have read a completely different story then every other reviewer because I could barely make myself give it one star let alone 5.
There were so many things that irked me about this book but here is just a few.
1.) There are way too many similarities between this story and Shade's Fall by Jamie Begley - which is by far a superior story in every way.
2.) I had issues with Duke. I was drooling for some bad ass killer sniper stuff - as eluded to in Hot as Hades - but this did not come to fruition in Damned. He was not a well-rounded character. For me it was the whole doctor thing. It didn't mesh with the cold-hearted killer the author wanted you to believe he was. I just didn't believe in him, and if I can't believe in my hero then how can I believe in the rest of the story?
3.) I had issues with Rose too. Why? Because she wasn't broken enough. The author gave us glimpses into what she actually went through, these were written well. It touched me. Made me feel horrible for her and what she endured, but clearly everything I felt from reading those scenes meant very little to Rose. She seemed to get over everything pretty damn quickly - which snapped the reality right out of it.
The girl was a nineteen year old virgin who was raped then sold as a sex slave, where she was abused and raped over and over again, held against her will for months. She should be traumatized and yet she jumps right into lusting after Duke like nothing ever happened to her and she's open to having a D/S relationship with him. Now I don't have a problem with the idea behind this (it was done to perfection in Shade's Fall, Bonds of Need by Lynda Aicher and of course This Is Who I Am by the Goddess Cherise Sinclair) but you have to make me feel her pain, make my heart break with the struggle it takes for her to find the courage to have that sort of relationship again, to let herself be open and vulnerable to another man, and that never happened in this story.
4.) Then there was the real killer for me. At one point Duke and Rose are preparing for a play session when the words 'No safeword tonight' come out of Duke's lips. My mouth dropped in sheer utter shock. That is just too much too swallow for me. I don't care what level of play you are involved in, but if you consider yourself a Dom then a safeword should be the bible. No BDSM session of any kind should be done without a safeword. It is just flat out stupid and irresponsible. And the fact that Rose - a woman who had all her choices taken away from her by an abuser - easily rolled with it, turned my stomach. This completely ruined the story and I could not even bring myself to finish it.
It pisses me off when BDSM elements are used in a storyline and not used correctly. Even couples that are in a D/S relationship for years use safe words.
I could go on with other things that were wrong with this story but I won't. In fact, I'm ending my rant here because I'm getting ticked off just writing it.
This was definitely my favorite book in the Four Horsemen MC series so far. Keep in mind that this book does have some dark disturbing parts but overall I do not find this to be a “dark“ book. It’s a story about perseverance and love. To watch Rose go from a broken shell to a strong fierce woman was amazing. And to see Duke let down his guard for her left me with a huge smile on my face. I loved watching both characters grow. And the fact that their story wasn’t insta-love was even better. I can’t wait until I have book 4 in my hands!
Be warned. If you start this a night, be prepared to never go to bed. That’s what happened to me. I couldn’t put it down.
Man..... I absolutely love this series! Cynthia has truly outdone herself with this latest addition in her Four Horsemen MC series.
Duke is dark and sexy as all hell...
Rose's character development was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the unique characteristics of her developing relationship with Duke and with herself.
I also would say that I am very much enjoying the vigilante, "biblical" war that the Horseman have declared. I look forward to seeing how this continues to develop through out the series. It feels as if the club is the embodiment of Loki the Destroyer and his band of Avenging Angels.
I loved this book. I liked the follow-up into the Horsemen. The characters are "real". Cynthia rocks this series and I am happy to given my opinion. If you are looking for a classic, this isn't for you. If you are looking for a HOT read that will keep you entertained grab this book and a glass of you favorite beverage and enjoy.
Damned (Four Horsemen MC #3) by Cynthia Rayne Rose Weston was held prisoner by a madman. Forced into submission she endured horrible abuse at his hands. Some days wishing for her own death and others wishing for the strength to take his life. Her sister Daisy with her boyfriend Cowboy and his brothers from the Four Horsemen MC come to her rescue. All the big bad bikers scare Rose to death, but one of them Duke catches her attention in a way no man has ever had. He’s much older and much more experienced he wouldn’t want her, she’s damaged now no one will ever want her. But she knows he is watching her when he thinks she’s not looking, keeping her safe. Could he feel the attraction she feels or is she too damned to ever be loved?
Duke has a lot of demons most of which he chooses to forget. Meeting Rose wasn’t something he counted on. He doesn’t care about woman he gets what he needs from them and moves on they all know the score. But Rose is something special a temptation he finds hard to resist. She is so young, but she’s been through so much more than any woman should ever have to experience. He agrees to teach her some self-defense when the monster who held her captive threatens her again. He tries to tamp down his attraction to Rose. The last thing she needs is a man gawking at her, but when he finds out his feelings are returned and that Rose wants to experience a sexual relationship of her own decision, he jumps at the chance to be the man to show her that sex doesn’t have to equal pain. Can Duke help her get past the trauma she experienced? Can Rose show Duke he can trust her with his secrets? Or are they both too damaged and damned to their own living hell.
My Review:
I love how Cynthia has grown as a writer through each one of the books in this series. Sweet Perdition was great I enjoyed it. Following Ryker and Elizabeth and centering on Elizabeth’s abusive relationship. Hot as Hades focused on Daisy and Cowboy taking us on a journey with them as they learned to trust each other. Cowboy sharing his past with Daisy and the trauma of losing his wife and child. Damned was deeper and more emotional than both of the first two books. I loved it! Truly a gripping story of two people who experienced horrible tragedies in their lives. In finding each other they are able to get stronger and get passed the fears they carry. Duke and Rose are a perfect match as a couple. He is almost twenty years her senior but Rose has been through way too much. She sees into his soul and understands him before he even shares his own traumatic childhood ordeal. When they begin their sexual relationship I found the BDSM scenes to be well written and worked for the couple. Every time they participated in a scene they learned a little more about the other. Rose grew stronger with each chapter and each scene as she learns her own body’s reactions to pleasurable pain. I don’t like spoilers, so I won’t give anything away except to say Rose starts off as a victim scared of her own shadow and ends as a warrior for herself and the man she loves.
The characters from the previous books like Shep and Pretty Boy make an appearance and give us a glimpse into what we may expect from their stories. Pretty Boy is a little cray cray, but I like it will be interesting learning more about him. The next book is Eddie and Captain a little bit of an older couple I don’t usually read books with the female character in their fifties not because I don’t like them just never came across one that interested me. I am however looking forward to reading Eddie’s story she is a total trip love her spunk.
This series is gritty and dirty, its gets deep and emotional and each couple has their own unique story to tell. Very enjoyable read can’t wait for the next one.
Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
What was that?! Oh my stars how do I even begin to review this without spoiling; first of all I was again lucky to have an ARC given by the author like the first couple of books in the series and thank you Cynthia for that! Damned is sooo different from the other two, it deals with really graphic situations and it's not an easy book to read but still worth it. Daisy (from Hot as Hades) was on a mission to find her sister, Rose and now that she finally did, they're all together living under the MC's protection.
Rose went through hell while she was being held and now that she's out, she needs to fight her demons and find a way to get her life back on track. Enter Duke. While this book is not about Duke helping her but about her helping herself, Duke's past enables her to see herself in a different light and to have someone to talk to that will understand her.

Duke is older. The she could be your daughter older kind but like Duke says she's not! Personally age difference doesn't make a difference to me, and especially in this case, it's not really an issue that would bother anyone; Duke is teaching Rose self defense and how to learn to accept that she should not let the past affect her life more than it already has; it's beautiful, the way he comes to care about her and she about him, almost effortless and endearing to read.
Oblivion is a comfort, but it's an illusion, it ain't the way out.
Of course the old couples are mentioned as well and I loved it cause they all are cute in their own way and I do hope there's another glimpse at them with the next book, hopefully more LOL! For MC lovers, highly recommended!
Let me start off by saying, I thought Duke and Rose's story would be interesting and it did not disappoint. Duke tries to help Rose heal from her ordeal. Both are very damaged and it's kind of like the blind leading the blind. I thought I was going to get more from Duke.....you know, guns blazing and knife throwing bada$$ action.
The surprising thing....I didn't see the standoff happening that way!
How in the heck did that happen?! REALLY?? So glad Rose was able to get what she needed though and I enjoyed them as a couple.
I am looking forward to Shep's book. I really want to see what the author comes up with that will be believable, bada$$ and HOT.
Although I've enjoyed the other books in this series, this book just didn't hit the mark for me. I felt absolutely no chemistry between the two main characters. I also felt a lot of conflict in regards to how much Duke despised pedophiles (especially those that prey on children between 11-14 years old) and yet Rose is 20 and he is 38. The age difference wasn't an issue but I would have been more comfortable if she had been in her mid 20s at least. He also kept stating he would protect her and never did. He left her completely unguarded all the time. Duke's interpretation of "brotherhood" sucks by the way. Even though he went to prison for the MC, I don't think his character is a "Ride or Die" brother.
Duke and Rose share a tormented past. Hers by the hands of Kent and his by his stepfather. I was glad they were able to seek comfort in each other. I disliked Chesty and I would have liked to know what happened to her. Once he started training Rose he was not with Chesty again.

Duke is a silent but deadly type of guy. Most of his brothers even steer clear of him. That is until the night he saves Rose. Once he meets her, he soon realizes he might have met his other half.
Rose was held captive and doesn't think things will get better. However, the trust and lessons she learns from Duke help her feel whole again.
Every book gets better and better !! I have always wanted to know Dukes story and this did not let me down!! Kai Kennicott And Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration ! They bring all the characters to life !! I am so excited to move on to the next book!!
Awesome 👍 Loved this third book in the Four Horsemen MC series. This story deals with several forms of sexual abuse so be prepared for triggers, I know I have to prepare myself for these types of books. Still totally recommend it 🔥😍🔥
Never have I wanted to jump through the pages and hug a character so badly before, but I wanted to hold them both so much. The heart break, intrigue, desire, palpable even through the page! Looking forward to the next couple to come!
Another great story that keeps you locked on to page after page. Not a repeat of the previous stories but a new direction. Can't wait to start the next one.
3.75 stars! I really enjoyed this. I think it needed to be a little longer to be fully fleshed out and don't get me started on the last few chapters because there were some real TSTL moments, but on the whole, new author for me and glad I gave it a go.
What a amazing story. I love Duke and Rose's story. They both survived things no-one should have too. You will get pulled into this story. I could not put it down.
