Conqueror #2

Saxon Lady

Rate this book
Drawn to her avowed enemy
Baron Mathieu Fitz Autier expected some resistance when he staked his claim to the Saxon land he'd won in battle. But he never imagined that the former lady of the manor would have the courage to fight back—with an arrow aimed at his head!
Lady Aelia saw her world slipping away as the Normans took control of her beloved home. Worse, she was drawn to Fitz Autier—her avowed enemy. She would not give in to the passion she sensed in this fierce warrior: not when he was honor-bound to deliver her to a Norman king. The journey ahead was sure to test them both beyond reckoning.

As a nice, sane break from the drama and fast pace of working as a registered nurse in an intensive care unit, Margo Maguire returned to college to study history, and fell in love. Writing about the historical characters she encountered in her classes was a good way to unwind from a crazy day in the unit. She soon started creating her own fictional characters and putting them into historical settings.

Margo is the author of twenty historical romance novels. Her books have been published in numerous languages, and have even come out in Japan as manga—animated books. She is the mother of three grown children and lives with her scientist husband in southern Michigan.

Buena historia. :D

I really really wanted to like this book as I am a huge fan of Medieval romance particularly if the hero is all alpha and a superb warrior. But with this, the hero was excellent in my book but I just couldn't like the heroine - she irritated me from start to finish... for me, she destroyed this story... ugghh!

I liked this book, but not as well as the other two in this series. I will read the complete series again though. It's one that I will be keeping long term on my shelves. I definitely recommend this complete series.

Baron Mathieu Fitz Autier was sent by William the Conqueror to take Ingelwald from the Saxons who controlled it. Not realizing that Wallis who was lord there, had been killed in battle by previous attempts to take the castle, the baron was surprised when he found out it was defended by his daughter and her young, headstrong brother. After Lady Aelia attempts to kill him with her arrow and her brother came after him, he had no choice but to take them with him on his way back to the king. Her mother had told Aelia that when she met her soul mate the earth would tremble and she would feel an incredible shiver pass through her. This couldn't possibly be meant for her enemy now, could it? As for the Baron, he felt it too but he was promised to another who would bring him wealth and status! As they traveled the length of the country and met with many misadventures, would they be able to overcome their obstacles?

I really loved the story. The way to true love is never easy and the Baron's and Lady Aelia's certainly wasn't.

This is my 3rd Margo Maguire book, and I think I am reading them out of order. :) I did like it very much, it was darker than the other two I read, and I liked how she incorporated the very dangerous political situation England found itself at the time of the story. The heroine was strong and admirable. It took me a little longer to get attached to the hero, but I did eventually like him. The story was fast paced, and the conflict was resolved quite easily. It was enjoyable to read.

Strong leads, feisty natures, vulnerability... Good book, glad I read it :) love steamy historicals packed with battle scenes and passion, this story doesn't disappoint. However, I would have loved to of been able to remove the the word 'round out of the book, its constant use really annoyed me lol aside from that its not the best or worst, its worth the read though!

Love is Victorious

When the Normans storm the castle of a Saxon, no one expects the outcome. Both the conquered and the conqueror must change their plans. Neither expects an instant attraction. Love must overcome many hurdles before succeeding in bringing the hero and heroine together.

I truly enjoyed the Saxon Lady. The blossoming relationship between the two main characters was really good. Her brother was a character. I look forward to the next story.
