Sometimes people choose their own fates; other times their paths get chosen for them.
Psychic Jenny Watkins has been called to investigate some paranormal activity at an old Virginia inn. While trying to determine the source of the problem, Jenny and Zack discover a terrifying scene nearby which threatens the lives of countless women. With the help of the police and her feisty, clairvoyant grandmother, Jenny and Zack try to find answers for the troubled souls who had been stripped of life too soon--and do so before others get added to that list.
During these investigations, Jenny has some very serious decisions to make in her own personal life. Finally happy and desperate to remain that way, she struggles with the notion that the wrong choice may cause her a lifetime of regret.
As she sits by the pool watching her kids splashing around, Becky Durfee is busy under an umbrella writing her Jenny Watkins Mystery series. A statistics teacher by trade, she uses her spare time to explore her more creative side.
She has worked full time, stayed home with kids, gotten married, gotten divorced, gotten re-married, acquired step-kids, juggled a career and a home, been pregnant, puked from morning sickness, given birth, peed from sneezing (directly related to that whole 'birth' thing) and somehow has managed to laugh through it all. Those experiences lend themselves to believable characters and humorous plot lines in her Jenny Watkins Mystery series.
Driven was accepted into the Self-e Library Journal in October of 2015.
Ms. Durfee writes a great novel. Spellbinding and fast paced. This is the fifth book in the series and I have read them one after another.
The only problem I have with reading Ms. Durfee's books is that she jumps from one scene to another without any warning to the reader.
Ex: Jenny is throwing up, Zack has to go pee...then the next line has Jenny finishing her pancakes...while I the reader, am still hanging out in the bathroom.
She needs to put a break between the scenes as in: ****** I took screenshots in several areas of this book in case I could post pictures of how the writer totally teleports Jenny and Zack instantly from one state to another... One room to another, and so on and so on.
Surely, the proofreader should catch these leaps and suggest a break.
I really like the books and would recommend them to others with the warning that they will take flying leaps with Jenny and Zack. I do hope Ms. Durfee will read this review, and sharpen her skills as a writer. Now on to the next adventure in book six.
This book was not as good as the others. I'm this book Jenny took ridiculous risks, especially considering she was pregnant and so conceded whether Zack would be a good father. The other negative was the constant giggles. They are not children. More appropriate is a chuckle. That was very annoying.
In my last review of this author's books, l stated that each mystery in this series just keeps getting better! I have to say that it is still true. I could hardly put it down to go sleep! Finished it today and couldn't stop myself from ordering the next one!
A great read with so many different story lines but done in an easy way so you can keep them straight. I really enjoy her stories. I have a hard time putting the kindle away. I can't wait for the next one!
Great story, love the grandmother, she is an adorable character with spunk. Unlike previous books the mystery is a mystery until the end. Good writing, good editing. Love the series.
