Mark Cole #2

Whatever the Cost

Rate this book
A Chinese cargo ship is hijacked off the coast of Indonesia by ruthless pirates; North Korea is involved in a covert plan to reunify the country by taking control of the South; and in Saudi Arabia, a terrifying new terrorist group has emerged that threatens to destabilize the entire world.

Adrift and psychologically damaged after the brutal murder of his family, ex-covert operative Mark Cole stumbles across a clue which might lead him to the hijacked ship. Realizing that it offers the opportunity to give him a purpose in life, Cole sets out to find the ship in a bid to earn redemption for his past.

From a gun market in the ancient jungles of Cambodia, to the teeming streets of Jakarta, Cole stumbles upon a plot far greater than the simple hijacking of a ship; and as he battles against North Korean agents and Islamic fundamentalists, he promises himself that he will do whatever it takes to stop the unleashing of a terrifying jihad which threatens the Western world like never before.

Whatever the Cost : Mark Cole Thriller

Brannan development of the characters in the book is exceptional. The action is swift and quick, you'll find that the story is going to keep you turning pages until the end, but it is going to leave you wanting more. Thank God for our men and women who are there protecting our country and our.

3.5 stars. Whatever the Cost is the second book in the Mark Cole Thriller series. This can be read as a standalone. There is a lot of violence. The action is slow to start but then takes off and continues through the rest of the book. If you like this type of storyline then you will enjoy this book.

DUMB plot and plotting

Very weak plotting, with absurd and impossible choices at every juncture.

Besides stupid measures taken against a “bioweapon,” frequent ridiculous points, like “his skin rippling under the flight suit.,” from the acceleration of a fighter jet. The author confusing shots of rocket-sled tests at many more gs than a plane. Just dumb.

Fantastic read

It’s Mitch Rapp and Scot Horvath combined into The Asset. I can’t wait for the next one. I only pray that we have many more like him with the intelligence and resolve to keep us safe.

Another engrossing tale of superman Jack Cole, a good read but over the top in exploits by the hero.

This is the second of the series, and I will read the next, but hope the next one is more realistic in situalistic realism.

The Mark Cole books are mesmerizing

I hope there are a lot more from this author and that they continue to be as edge-of-your seat as the three I have just consumed with the gusto of a hound dog! What.A.Ride! Get them! An American James Bond indeed.

Whatever the cost

Several stories within the same book, anyone of which could have made a good read by itself. This hero is definitely hard to believe but the writing is so action filled that you look beyond that and just enjoy.

Fiction that could be a fortune telling

The story while fantastical, could come close to something that could really happen. The ending was unexpected. You will have to read it for yourself to find out!
