The text is pretty silly, covers some basic facts, but the full-colour page spreads of the world’s cutest animal makes up for it!

This beautifully photographed book is a great introduction to koalas with just the right amount of specific vocabulary. The author uses varied sentence lengths to include embedded questions, exclamations and descriptive language. Open-ended questions that connect readers with koalas provide opportunities for discussion and thinking. One element I loved is the Koala Maze in the back of the book.

Very young readers are sure to find the interesting tidbits about koalas fascinating as well as enjoy looking at the photographs of this wonderful animals. The shots of a mother koala and her little one are especially endearing, but so are individual shots since they show the joeys taking their first bite of a leafy snack. It's almost impossible to resist these cuties! The book will make an animal lover out of just about anyone.
