When I first read the synopsis, I was intrigued by the dark story of these two characters that I knew were bound to be the romantic interest of each other. The first few chapters were a bit slow-paced, as it goes around with normal lives of the characters before they met and eventually get to know each other more. I enjoyed the personalities of the minor characters (the friends of the protagonist). Though they don’t really play much of an important role to the main plot, they kept me entertained and laugh amidst the seriousness and mystery of story. I admit, my curiosity to know the mystery behind everything, Ella’s past and the band’s dangerous secret got me flipping the pages for answers. There were a lot of music references and even singing numbers. Though they were tedious to read, at least they lightened a bit the darkness of the plot. The writing was well written and vividly described. The characters were realistic and distinct. To sum up everything, it was a good read, especially for those who are into dark, mysterious and thrilling books with romance.

This book was amazing! It was nothing like the usual cliche teen romance novels. This thrilling novel included action, romance and suspense. Loved it!

spoiler free review!

so i just finished that book and phew, that ending wrecked me. i hope there'll be a sequel. ;)

overall, i really enjoyed the book. :)

the characters were well established and i was hooked from the very beginning. this one wasn't full of stereotypes/clichés, but sometimes i could sense some of the things/changes coming, so the book didnt surprise me that much. but that didnt bother me, since the plot was full of twistes and didnt bore me. even not essential scenes like f.e. a talk with her best friends were fun and i enjoyed reading about those daily interactions, like singing together or teasing each other all the time.
i didnt mean to, but the main characters ella and ben made me fall in love :) some of the changes during the book truly got me flipping the pages, like 'no, you cant do that, this cant happen nooo'.

still, i sometimes felt like it was drawn out a lil too long, especially the "highlight" during the very end of the book.

overall, a good book with the teen romance as the primal aspect, but also with mystery, drama and a lil action starting in the middle.

Ignoring the grammar, I loved this book. I found the characters interactions with each other one of the driving forces of the novel that kept me interested. Adam and Hayley were the perfect supporting characters that kept me laughing throughout the novel. And Ella, who couldn't love a girl like that. This book is awesome and given that it was written by a writer at such a young age, Rae receives extra brownie points! I would really like to read the sequel (if there is one).

Definitely unlike any other young adult novel I've read before...actually unlike any novel I've read before. The storyline is unique and captivating. I loved each of the characters, especially Adam and Hayley's hilarious bickering. I loved Ella's development from Part 1 to Part 2. It's almost like watching a younger sister grow up but in a story. I really hope there is a sequel involved because the ending was just not enough closure for me. I need more from Ella and Ben!
