Coming back to Tennessee was never part of the plan. But when my grandfather’s veterinary clinic starts failing, I have no choice but to return to try to save his legacy. The problem? Bryce Lynch. Smug, infuriating and somehow more attractive than I remember. He’s taken over the town- and most of our clients along with it. I don’t care how charming he is. I’m not about to let him run me out of business. Even if every heated argument leaves me breathless. Even if, deep down, I can’t decide if I want to strangle him or kiss him senseless.
Bryce
Sage Monroe has been a thorn in my side since the moment she waltzed back into town, all fire and attitude, ready to pick a fight. She seems convinced I’m her enemy, but I never wanted to compete with her- I just wanted a chance to prove I belong here too. But the more time we spend clashing, the harder it is to ignore the fact that I don’t hate her. Not even a little. I want to wipe that stubborn glare off her face- with my lips. I want to make her stay. But Sage isn’t looking for a reason to put down roots, and I don’t know how to be the one to change her mind.
The back roads of Tennessee have a way of leading you right where you’re meant to be....
Sage has returned to Reeds Hollow to help her grandfather's veterinarian practice while she regroups after her life falls apart. She instantly jumps to conclusions, villianizing Bryce, the local who opened the new practice in town. Bryce proves to be a good man who proves her assumptions about him wrong at every turn. Can they call a truce and maintain a distance?
This is the first in the series that I have very much disliked a protagonist. I really didn't like Sage very much. She was very quick to jump to conclusions and handled things immaturely. It kind of made me feel like Bryce deserved better. At least a better apology for her actions and disparaging words.
A soft enemies to lovers, secret dating trope that makes you want more. Sage rolls into town with a chip on her shoulder the size of Tennessee and which is warmed very quickly by the guy she is trying to hate. This book has everything from vet wars, to gruff grandpas, to small town vibes, to a guy who will drive for hours to pick up a horse. The butt hurt miscommunication annoyed me a little but only cause they were as bad as each other and I just wanted to knock their heads together. A well deserved 5 star
First BRYCE. What a swoonworthy southern gentleman. I am in love. If I’m honest, I loved him from book 1 till now but being able to see more of him — giving back to the community, supporting everyone, loving everyone, protecting everyone. He is last on his own list of priorities. Bryce literally makes me want to move from the Chicago suburbs to a small town in Tennessee.
Second Sage…girl, I wanted to shake her so hard sometimes. I completely understand her untrustworthy behavior, but as an outsider observing all 3 books into the series… I’m like SAGE THEYRE GOOD PEOPLE HERE. She’s so defensive and protective in the beginning until she start to open her heart - cue Bryce.
I loved the dynamic. I loved that Bryce adored Sage and I also loved Sage and her feistiness even if it did get her into trouble sometimes.
And now 3 books in, all the bread crumbs leading up to book 4… I can not wait!!!
I fall more in love with this town and these people every book I read in this series!! Bryce & Sage are both healing from past experiences but find a way through with each other. You get enemies (more like irritation) to lovers, small town romance, found family and more of Colt & Kelsie and Owen & Amelia 😍
Getting to see Bryce get his story was AMAZING!!! Sage was the perfect spitfire to keep him interested and on his toes. I was glad to see her finally thinking of herself and what she wanted out of life. I can't wait for Book 4!!!
