What in the World is Going On?

Rate this book
The Bible has plenty to say about end times. But until now, there has been no other book that - in straightforward prose that's easy to understand - gathers ten scriptural prophecies, lays out a chronological checklist, and offers a guideline for sorting it all out. In "What in the World Is Going On?" Dr. David Jeremiah answers the hard questions, including these:

. How is prophecy playing out in modern Europe?
. Why does Israel matter?
. How are oil reserves and Islamic terrorism related?
. Does the United States play a role in prophecy?
. How should we live in the end times?

Events unfolding in today's world are certainly unsettling, but they need not be confusing or frightening. Now you can know the meaning behind what you see in the daily news - and understanding what in the world is going on!

Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.

As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.

In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.

Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.

Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.

As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.

Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.

Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.

Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.

Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God

So glad to find this one for $1 at Bety Griffin, especially since it was published 2008 and was a hardback in excellent condition. Had just heard Dr. Jeremiah teach on the radio, and wanted to read this book -- then, it appeared in front of me at Thrift Shop. I know it was the Lord gifting me with the blessing of the content, the teaching, of the book. Now I understand world events much more clearly: oil, the economy, America's role, Israel and other nations. Most of the book is spent on connecting the prophecies of Ezekiel with actual countries, for ex. the land of the north is Russia. It was the best teaching on Revelation I've had yet, and answered much I've wondered about. Most valuable, though, was the Lord's encouragement to not be afraid, but stay watchful, and prepared, doing each day's good work, secure in His love. Rather then be surprised or appalled by events, to see the King of Kings behind it all and to love Him even more, for He is coming to judge, make His name known, cleanse, and cast out evil forever.

The economic downturn surprised us. National spending is out of control. Europe is rising in power again. Events in the Middle East seem to be getting worse, not better. What are we to think of it all?

After a tremendous amount of study, Dr. Jeremiah chose the ten most important prophetic clues from the Bible that we all need to be aware of. He shares them with us in his book, What it the World Is Going On? As the subtitle of the book says, we cannot afford to ignore them. They are now affecting us and will continue to affect us until Jesus calls His children home or until He returns. In clear detail and a gripping style that makes it hard to put the book down, he explains these clues in terms we can all understand.

I've read a number of books about the End Times. They all speculate about what will happen in the future. What in the World Is Going On? is the first book I've read that includes End Times happenings which are already occurring. The first two chapters explain the importance of Israel, why it is now in the world spotlight, and why Muslims hate her so much. In the next two chapters, Dr. Jeremiah touches on the importance of oil and how it plays into the End Times events. He also speaks on the rise of the European Union and what its role during the End Times will be. The remaining six chapters prepare us for what is yet to come, and he explains how current events are leading to these final six important clues.

On top of it all, however, Dr. Jeremiah continually reminds us that God is in control. The world may seem to be falling apart, but God is bringing about His plan in His way. He has given us clues in His Word--clues He meant for us to understand when the time is right. Dr. Jeremiah does an excellent job of showing us that the time is right. We need to understand these clues.

No scholar of academic substance denies that Jesus lived almost 2,000 years ago. And we find three times as many prophecies in the Bible relating to His second coming as to His first. Thus, the second advent of our Lord is three times as certain as His first coming, which can be verified as historical fact. (xv)

Without the existence of the nation of Israel, we would not be able to say with certainty that we are in the last days. That single event, more than any other, is the most prominent sign that we are living in the final moments before the coming of Jesus! The Hebrew People have been called God's timepiece of the ages. (19)

Here's an interesting sidelight about world oil reserves. My friend Robert Morgan flew into New Orleans several years ago, and the man who met him at the airport was a geophysicist for a major oil company. Driving to the hotel, he explained to Robert that oil deposits result from the decomposition of plant and animal life now buried by eons of time. Oil is found all over the world, he said, even under the ice of the Arctic and Antarctic. That means forests and abundant vegetation once covered the world until destroyed in a vast global cataclysm (such as a worldwide flood).
The geophysicist went on to say that the earth's richest, deepest, and largest deposits of petroleum lie under the sands of countries just to the east of Israel, in the location pinpointed in the Bible as the garden of Eden...Barren sand and blazing desert now exist where once grew a garden flourishing with dense, lush flora, the likes of which the world has not seen since. It was destroyed in some disastrous upheaval and has decayed into the largest deposits of oil in the world. (31)

The average lifespan of all the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has ben about two hundred years. During that two-century span, each of these nations progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; and from dependence back into bondage....
In The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, author Edward Gibbon discusses several reasons for the great civilization's demise, including the undermining of the dignity and sanctity of the home and the decay of religion. America has been compared to the Roman Empire in secular and religious ways. Regardless of its ultimate legacy, America is a civilization on the decline. A couple of centuries from now (or sooner), someone will lament the loss of a once-great civilization that brought prosperity to the world and tried to make it safe for democracy. The glory that was the United States will lay in ruins, brought down not by terrorists but its own debauchery and complacency. (135)

What In the World Is Going On?: 10 Prophetic Clues You Cannot Afford to Ignore by David Jeremiah makes the case that we are living in the Biblically prophesied last days. Providing a scary, no-nonsense commentary on recent world events, this book motivates the reader to shrug-off society’s prevailing apathy and evaluate truth vs. falsehood, good vs. evil, and purpose vs. selfish indulgence. Regardless of whether you agree with Jeremiah’s conclusions, the reading of this book prompts examination of self and the world we live in.

Strengths: Jeremiah examines world events with stark candor; which is a refreshing change from the prevailing spin of ‘I’m OK, you’re OK’ and ‘world peace’. Also, he included much-needed proposals of a Christian response in light of his heavy conclusions.

Weaknesses: The subtitle is easily misleading, ‘Ten Prophetic Clues You Cannot Afford to Ignore”. Only about half the book addresses ‘clues’ that could be considered evident: Israel, Oil, The European Union, Islamic Terrorism, and the re-emergence of Russian power. The remaining ‘clues’ are more speculative and future-looking: the role of America, the Rapture, the Antichrist, Armageddon, and the return of Jesus Christ.

Bottom Line: Paul admonishes Roman believers to ‘know the times’ and ‘awake out of sleep’, “for our salvation is nearer than when we first believed” (Rom. 13:11). Dr. Jeremiah urges the same for believers today along with these sentiments: “Our trust has never been in governments, civilizations or cultures”, “we have always put our trust in the One who stands above institutions, above history, and even above time itself…”, “only He is worthy of our allegiance.” (pg. 139)

Here's the bottom line, this book will have you remember that the Lord could return at any time, and it makes you excited to think about. To be ready. To see how things are unfolding that make His return imminent. Yes, the book is now 12 years old, but remember, the Lord is not slow in keeping His promises, He's tarrying, waiting for all to come to repentance. If anything, the age of this book simply affirms that we're closer now as the headlines have only continued to move towards the direction of the rise of Russia and Iran, Turkey and others. It makes the headlines exciting rather than scary.

I've read other books on the end times that can get wallowed down in details and be challenging to follow, but Dr. Jeremiah lays things out in a very understandable way. He's done his research, and you can delve deeper by following his notes. I was particularly glad to read his insight on the place of America in the last days. For those who are believers, your faith will be strengthened, and for those who are not, this book provides insight into what is happening in our day and how it relates to the prophecies in the Bible.

If you are reading this after all the Christians have disappeared from the earth, hold tight, things are going to be hard, but Jesus will save all of those who call upon Him. Don't take the mark.

I'm truly thankful that I got a chance to review this book from Booksneeze. It's been awhile since I read a good book regarding prophecy and the end times. What In The World Is Going On by Dr. David Jeremiah is one that certainly takes into account what is pertainant for today. This book takes a look at the center of the oil reserve controversary; the nation of Israel and it geographical signifigance and the nations that will come against her at the end of days.

So what makes this prophecy book different from any others? It is certainly more complete. Nothing is left to question. Dr. Jeremiah has covered every aspect of the Lord's return to gather his flock to the great battle of Armeggedon and beyond. This New Your Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestseller is a must read. Don't let the subdued cover fool you. What is inside the cover is a lot more explosive that you can imagine and more important to you and your loved ones. I highly recommend picking up a copy and keeping it on hand as you read the daily newspaper.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Is the current economic and political crisis actually prophesied in the Bible?

If so, what are we to do about it? It is hard to piece together all this information in a way that gives a comprehensive picture of what the end times will look like. That’s why so many theories abound. And that’s why Dr. David Jeremiah has written What In the World Is Going On?, a unique book that cuts through the hundreds of theories to identify the essential 10 most important bible prophecies. There is no other book like this. You’ll find it the ultimate study tool for understanding the future. You’ll have a greater sense of comfort that, even in these crazy times, God is indeed in control. If bible prophecy as always been a mystery to you, Dr. Jeremiah’s book will help you solve the mystery. At last, bible prophecy can make sense, and make a difference. What In the World Is Going On? is shocking and eye-opening but essential reading in these turbulent days.

Dr. David Jerermiah is the senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California.

MY OPINION
I found this book to be an interesting read, especially the sections that focuse on the ancient conflicts in the Middle East and how they influence today’s politics. Dr. Jeremiah explains the differences between the various religious sects in the Middle East and the reasons for their long~standing hostilities towards each other, the nation of Israel and America. He also examines the relationship between Israel and America and how their pasts, presents and futures are intertwined. At the end of the book, significant reference material is provided to support the claims made in each chapter.

Perhaps one of the more intriguing chapters is chapter 7, “When One Man Rules the World”, in which Dr. Jeremiah describes the coming world dictator. The first thing Dr. Jeremiah does is dispel the myth that Henry Kissinger (or any other public figures who have been named) is the coming Anti~Christ. Rather than name names or point fingers at individuals, what he does do is give the characteristics of the one world leader and how he will rise to power.

While providing a detailed narrative for what the world will be like after the Rapture, Dr. Jeremiah is also careful enough to offer the plan of salvation at the end of each chapter. Ultimately, this is a book not of fear but of hope.

This book is recommended for new as well as seasoned students of Bible prophecy.

This book is an excellent introduction to the relationship between Biblical end times prophecy (eschatology) and current events.

Unfortunately, the book is not consistent. When Dr. Jeremiah is close to the Scripture he is outstanding, but some of the work is a bit reaching, particularly early in the book, such as the chapter about oil and energy. In addition, while he does a good job explaining how the rapture fits in the time line and giving some background on why he favors a pre-tribulation rapture, believers with a prophecy background will be uncomfortable with his strong assertion of a pre-tribulation rapture. Although I agree that a pre-trib rapture is, in my limited perception, the best alternative, i am uncomfortable with it being taught as the absolute Biblical interpretation as these events are forthcoming and the only confirmation that we have understood the mind of God correctly is the actual occurrence of the events. Certainly, the LORD will not be wrong, but there is room enough for our error and I would prefer a more humble presentation of this concept.

Nonetheless, the chapters on Israel, the re-emergence of the Roman Empire, Does America have a role in prophecy?, The New Axis of Evil, Arming for Armageddon and the Return of the King make this work a worthwhile introduction to the application of Biblical prophecy to our current, increasingly global, political situation. These chapters are more in the four star range.

For me personally, the point by point clarification of the difference between the battle of Gog and Armageddon on pages 199-200 was particularly insightful, as well as the concise chart on page 216 articulating 12 differences between the Rapture/ Translation and the Second Coming/ Established Kingdom of Christ.

A better resource on Islamic Terrorism is "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades" by Robert Spencer (I have a review on Goodreads). "Epicenter" by Joel Rosenberg is also good with current events, though he focus' on the Battle of Gog and Magog.

Recommended. Three Stars.

This is a book that our Sunday School studied in Richmond, VA. Dr. David Jeremiah fills the book with so many claims and so few citations that it's easy to label this book as mostly drivel. However, I wanted to give it a fair shake.

Firstly, Jeremiah spares no expense in scaring the people who will read it. This seems to be his main MO of the book. If you can scare someone, you can get them to follow you. It's the old, "I think I can catch this fly with vinegar, screw honey," model. His is an antiquated form of evangelism that doesn't work.

One of his purposes is to fill in where other preachers have left voids. He shares that others do not talk about prophecy because they believe it distorts people from living in the present. Later in the book, he explains that there is little we can do to stop the coming of the Lord but to simply be ready. I wonder how these two points, his criticism of pastors who do not preach prophecy and his own admittance that prophecy cannot be swayed by the actions of human beings, interact. If God is going to act as God is going to act, who are we that we should stand in God's way? Thus, let's do what Jeremiah does in the last part of the book and give practical teaching on what to do in the meantime before GOd's return through Christ!

What is most infuriating in this book are the lack of citations. Jeremiah refuses to follow the standards of literature in citing sources and when sources are cited, he will include Wikipedia as his guide (see his study guide, page 44). Dr. Jeremiah, that's pathetic. Middle schoolers are failed for less. And when he is not citing Wikipedia, he is only citing a small coven of prophecy "experts" and avoiding other theological viewpoints on the subject. He refuses to consider that others outside of his Shadow Mountain Church group could have opinions on the subject.

The book got us to talk, most vigorously about his vitriolic statements regarding Muslims which are too plenty to include. But outside of that, please don't buy this book and support a terrible writer like Jeremiah.

Very few books impact your life in such a way that you will never live the next day in the same way you did the last…..this book does just that. You will find it more than difficult to put this book down. Dr. Jeremiah clearly and concisely reveals Biblical Prophecy in a way that will impact the way you live your daily life; truly you will not be able to view the world, nor your individual life, in the same way after reading this book.

One of the things that will fascinate you, as you begin to read, is the current events that are explained in such captivating detail. The book reads as if it were just written a few weeks ago. In a few chapters you will have a better understanding of World Affairs and you will clearly find the answers to the question, “What In The World Is Going On?” This book’s purpose and presentation help you to understand Biblical prophetic events as they unfold around you at this very moment.

Dr. Jeremiah helps you to easily discover and understand the astounding truth about the upcoming Rapture, the Antichrist, and the Armageddon with amazing detail in an “easy to comprehend” style of writing. The discussion and detail that is devoted to understanding the role of America in Bible prophecy, the significance of Israel, the global oil crisis, Radical Islam and how they factor in to God’s prophetic plan provides the ability to view the world and your life from a completely Divine perspective. For those who are believers, your faith will be increased and strengthened; for those who are not, this book provides a doorway to Light amid the darkness, as you discover that you are witnessing the unfolding of God’s great plan!

What In The World Is Going On? 10 Prophetic Clues You Cannot Afford to Ignore by Dr. David Jeremiah, is a wonderfully informative book to help fellow believers and unbelievers catch up on current events in connection with the Bible. This book can answer many questions that you may have pondered, such as What is all the fuss about Israel?, Will America have a role in prophecy?, Will Christians be present during the battle of Armageddon?, and many other facts that you may not be familiar with. Dr. Jeremiah recounts prophecies that have already taken place as well.

What is going? Have you been asking yourself this question over the last few months as we have seen political unrest and upheaval across the world? If you have, this book would be a fantastic read for you. Dr. Jeremiah gives commentary on what is going on in our world today with a Biblical perspective. The idea of prophecy sparks great attention in the church and even outside of the church. We are intrigued by what the future holds and we would all like to know that it will be okay.

In this insightful book, you will discover 10 different topics that you hear about in the news weekly that have a significant role in the end times. One important topic of conversation is Israel and what the Bible says about Israel's role in the future. Another topic that is sure to peak your interest is the role of Islam. Whatever you think about Islam, make no mistake about it, this religion plays a large role in the events of our world today. Do you know the restructuring of Europe is not just political genius, but it is predicted in the Bible? Something that might spark your interests is the question that takes and entire chapter to address, Does America have a role in prophecy? If you have not ever thought about this, I would encourage you to check this chapter out.

Overall, this book is written so that you do not have to be a student of Eschatology (Study of the End Times) to be able to understand it. I appreciate Dr. Jeremiah's ability to combine the facts of today with the truths of God's Word.

This is a good collection of prophetic, end times events compared with the current state of the world. I found the first few chapters particularly intriguing, as Dr. Jeremiah discuss the switch from gold to oil, to stabilize American currency. And the summary of global oil production versus consumption was alarming. If you are someone who believes that the prophecies of scripture will be fulfilled in a literal way, like I do, you'll be interested to read Dr. Jeremiah's speculation on the shifting balance of power occurring in the world today, the strategic alliances being formed between countries, and how this fits perfectly with the necessary environment needed to usher in the end times. The first two-thirds of the book was organized well and presented prophetic events in a logical fashion, but the last third seemed to jump around, coming back multiple times to the same subjects. I'm sure if I read the book in parallel to a topical outline, his approach would have made more sense. Granted, end times prophecy is a HUGE subject and the chronology of events is debatable, but I've seen some of this same information organized in a more-logical manner elsewhere. Still, this is a great book if you want to "get your feet wet" with the subject matter. Dr. Jeremiah's ultimate intention, which I share, is to point people to redeeming work of Christ and recognize the "signs" of the times that we're living in.

it's ironic that it is "new york times best-selling author", it taught me how some extremists think (it is good to view other's beliefs after all), but David Jermiah who holds a pro zionist ideology wrote a book which lack evidence or common sense or relate to bible and he use brain washing as tool to play with other's emotions for political goals and to justify Israel not only as "humane" but as part of being a "true believer". while teaching of the bible oppose inhumanity. and in Judaism the principle of promised land can be understood clearly in different way than Zionists do.

I read this book 7 or 8 years ago and it was shocking to view such beliefs, what unit us as humans is human rights, love, respect etc which this book lacks... whoever knows history will know that Zionists made massacres against Palestinians and crimes against humanity, and that Jews, Christians and Muslims used to live peacefully together in Palestine before Zionism, even when Moses (peace be upon him) came to Canaan's land he wanted to make Jews co exist with the natives (the Canaan's are Palestinian's grandfathers) not to genocide the natives or expel them. Zionism believes in Jungle law and will eliminate any one who stands against it and even use media and brainwashing to defend it's existence.. this is not religious matter but political interest to build a colony in the middle of the Arab world to control it especially with the growth of it's wealth due to oil.

This is an excellent foundation for the many other books that have been written in the last two years about what is going on in this world. Start with this one and build on it with all the others. Dr. Jeremiah's book is lucid, plainspoken and comprehensive, the best of the genre that I have read. An absolute must-read for the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of us who want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Excellent, important books I would read to build on that foundation:

1."Five Thousand Year Leap: 28 Great Ideas That Changed the World" by W. Cleon Skousen

2."Broke: The Plan to Restore Our Trust, Truth and Treasure" by Glenn Beck

3."The Coming Economic Armageddon: What Bible Prophecy Warns About the New Global Economy" by Dr. David Jeremiah.

4."The Roots of Obama's Rage" by Dinesh D'Souza

5."Inside the Revolution: How the Followers of Jihad, Jefferson and Jesus are Battling to Dominate the Middle East and Transform the World" by Joel C. Rosenberg

6."Sharia, the Threat to America: An Exercise In Competitive Analysis (Report of Team B II) - Center for Security Policy - by William J. Boykin, Harry Edward Soyster, Henry Cooper, Stephen C. Coughlin, et al.

It's a great book. So far I've only finished it half way. Now I'm on the chapter dealing with whether America is in biblical prophecy in the end times. The "Crude Awakening" chapter opened my eyes to what's going on globally with oil and the middle east. The Modern Day Rome chapter is very enlightening. We are definitely in the last days and if you don't believe it you will.....if you believe the Bible. Can't wait to finish this book...
ADDENDUM:
Okay it's been 3 days and I've finished this book. The whole thing is good. The explanations of Armageddon and the modern day names of the countries to be a part of that war really helped me to understand prophecy clearly. Actually, the last few chapters really helped me GET IT. I can totally understand Dr. David Jeremiah explanations and descriptions of the War at Armageddon and the final war when Jesus comes back. This book is a must read for everyone. I think you will be well convinced that not only are we living in the end times, but you can see how it's going to go down.

As global problems and climate instability mount in 2021 “What In the World is Going On?: Ten Prophetic Clues You Can’t Afford To Ignore” is a well-written and compelling additional study tool that gives clear prophetic understanding of these times and comfort in the knowledge of the future. It is remarkable to read a book where the author's insight 14 years ago still applies today as Canada and the United States face economic decline; the US’s status on the world stage declines; radical Muslim grows; World War III draws closer; pandemics increase; and the EU gains strength.

Backed by Biblical prophecy and in a conversational manner Dr. Jeremiah delves into what is going on from a prophetic perspective giving hope and peace to Christians as they face the disturbing events reported at home and abroad. This is definitely a foundational book that can be expanded on by reading other studies on this topic.

Never has world news, history or prophesy been so readable and understandable. I try to follow current events, especially those in the Middle East, but I get bogged down in the myriad of details.

Dr. Jeremiah hits the major points, and lays out it all out in a way that makes sense and enthralls. He offers concise but complete teachings on end times prophesies from the Old and New Testaments as a backdrop to very relevant current and recent world events. He then ties it all together into an eye-opening experience.

I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone at all interested in the current state of our nation and our world, and where we might stand in God's unknowable timeline. Although no one knows the day or the hour when the Son of God will return, He did tell us the signs to look for, and He told us to watch and to wait.

This book by Dr David Jeremiah [one of the best Biblical teachers we have] is a familiar tour through prophecy including Israel's role in the world, oil crisis, evil regimes, coming AntiChrist, America's role in prophecy and other Endtime themes. Jeremiah's teaching style is always fresh and engaging. This is a mainstream evangelical approach with some risks taken along the way [he takes a personal stand on Islamic issue]. A primer for beginners or the curious, a great book for those who love Dr Jeremiah's ministry and a resource book for those seeking current information. David Jeremiah has a rare ability to communicate and engage the listener, and this book is an example. For those looking for more edgy treatment of same, see Epicenter: Why the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your Future.

Excellent book! This is an easy read. The subject can be confusing, but he brings it down to earth and easy for anybody to understand. There are lots of stats and figures and many are very current, so this book is very relevant. After reading this book, not only did I understand prophecy better, but I understand some of the World's current events and issues better. For example, this showed me that our situations in Iraq and Afghanistan are more complex than everybody thinks. Is it about oil? Of course it is and just pulling out could destroy our economy. How you ask? Well, you will have to read the book to find out! I am sure that I will be trying out some of his other books as I am told that this writing style shows through in his other books as well. You should definitely check this one out!

As a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Jeremiah writes from a Dispensational Premillennial interpretation of Scripture and I feel this book stands as the perfect example of why such an interpretation is the clearest and most sensible interpretation of eschatology. Jeremiah offers the following ten chapters:

1. The Israel Connect
2. The Crude Awakening
3. Modern Europe... Ancient Rome
4. Islamic Terrorism
5. Vanished Without a Trace
6. Does America Have a Role in Prophecy?
7. When One Man Rules the World
8. The New Axis of Evil
9. Arming for Armageddon
10. The Return of the King

This book cuts through the confusion that often accompanies eschatology and guides the reader through Scripture in a manner than is easy to follow and engage. I highly recommend this book to those studying end-times Scripture.

Three Boys and an Old Lady Reviews

My Thoughts: I remember my great-great grandmother always seeing signs of the apocalypse. Some may have dismissed this as 'old folk's talking' but I wonder what she'd say of these days we live in. Would her thought's be similar to Dr. Jeremiah's? I didn't see this book as a gloom and doom book, but rather a reminder to believers to stay focused as we are a 'peculiar people'. I imagine Dr. Jeremiah's congregation gained much more insight in his classroom teachings, from which the book is based, than we could merely by reading the book. However, I think this book would make for great bible teaching and reference.

I picked up this book at a library book sale, and was intrigued by the topic. I know of Dr. Jeremiah's radio show and have read a few of his books. this book talks about how world events such as oil prices, terrorists, and politics relate to the Biblical End Times. He also discusses the Rapture and the wars discussed in the Bible during the end times. Normally books like these are just full of doom and gloom with the writers showing no hope. Yes the end times is a serious topic, but Jeremiah also states that Christians have hope through the scary times. This was an easy read , with the chapters covering each topic with several sub topics in between for the reader to take a breaks if they do not want to read the whole chapters (which are short anyway)

Here is an "oldie but goodie"book, first published in 2008. I listen to David Jeremiah on his Bible Teaching program "Turning Point", and I appreciate his down-to-earth explanation of the scriptures.
One of my friends passed this book on to me. I have been enlightened by the author's showing every reader how to live in these days when the Rapture could come at any time so we will be taken out of the world before destruction comes. The warning signs are clear. We need to get our message across to those who ignore or scoff at the Bible before it's too late. Either position is the pathway to destruction.

I have just finished reading “What in the world is going on” by Dr. David Jeremiah.
Let me say that Mr. Jeremiah really helped me put things in perspective. There are so many things that I didn’t understand about the end of days and the second coming as well as many other subjects, he worded everything so well and made me see the reality that I hadn’t saw. I’m really excited about this book , Im thinking of donating it to my pastor so he can go over it and put it to some good use. If you do not understand the bible , this will help you profoundly.

A really good non-fiction/spiritual growth book. If you like stuff about the end-times and the world ending, this is the book for you. It may come as a wake up call, however, if you are not a Christian. Therefore, I urge you to read it. You need to be able to read through lots of stats, numbers, and percentages. I don't like math and that kind of thing (leave that for the oppressive textbooks), so those parts were a little dry for me. But then Jeremiah would touch a heartstring and get me excited about the second coming of our Savior! If you don't want to learn, don't read this.

I had somewhat of a biblical upbringing so when I saw this book recently I decided to give it a read. I remember my parents talking about Bible prophecy and what it means and Dr. jeremiah's book definitely pinpoints many things that are going on in the modern world with references to Biblical predictions for the future. I found this book very interesting and intriguing and recommend that you read it along with your bible for reference.

*Note: This book really has a 4.5 star rating!!!

This book is very similar to Joel C. Rosenberg's Epicenter. It contains a lot of the same information and conclusions, but it does contain some new insights. The writing style is very simplistic and easy to understand, so I highly recommend it for anyone interested in Bible prophecy and elates to current events in the world. Dr. David Jeremiah explains biblical prophecy very well in this book.

David Jeremiah does a great job of brining the prophecies together and putting them in order, especially in terms of end-times events. He paints a picture of how the yet-to be fulfilled prophecies could be fulfilled on the current geopolitical stage. As always, specific countries, etc. I think, should be taken with a grain of salt. But still, the amount of real-world data he regiments within his dispensational, premillenial is impressive. The end is inspirational, as it should be.

I don't buy into a Dispensational theology anymore, but Dr. Jeremiah raises some interesting questions that I want to explore further. He is a good writer and I found the book easy to follow. He attempts to back up most of his arguments from the Scripture (I don't believe that he is always successful but at least he tried). So, while I doubt much of Dr. Jeremiah's interpretation of end times events, I find him to be decent to read for a Dispensational perspective.
