Book Review: The Seller Of Beliefs by Trishala D Shah: A Life Journey In A Day

The Seller Of Beliefs by Trishala D Shah is spiritual fable written in an interesting manner to showcase the complete lifecycle of life in an eventful one day learning program. Few thought provoking, inquisitive and introspective questions will definitely come to your mind after and while reading this book that you will surely ask from yourself. There are lot of people in our life whom we keep ignoring due to various reasons, one of the main reason being to satisfy our own ego altar. To give a false hope to self, at times we do nullify certain truths of life. And in the race of life - rather the rat race - we forget to stop and think on what happened a while ago and if the action that we took on that particular instance was right or does it require an improvement to make my life a better life?

The Seller Of Beliefs by Trishala D Shah is a simple 112 pages fable written in an intrinsic style that keeps you engaged towards all colors of life. The story inspires you to build your faith and trust towards life and you - yourself! At time we get so much engrossed and mechanical towards our routines of life that we forget the real meaning of life and its purpose. This book tries to get you back on track in that matter. The fable is in simple words, which become magical and at times bring tears in your eyes. At times it becomes hard to face the reality of life and one it bound to become emotional and tearful while encountering the facts and truths.

The Seller Of Beliefs is so well written by Trishala D Shah that it can be categorized as a soul searching fable. It reminds us that there is no age for learning a new thing in life and one must understand that it is only the learning that fills in the gap between a learner and learned. There are some pretty lessons in this book. Are you fed up of yourself? Do you want to change your physical appearance? Do you really love yourself? Because if you don't love yourself, you can't love the world. While in a race of trying to follow someone else, trying to become someone else, we usually forget ourselves that steals away the happiness from our lives. It is the same piece of sound that has a capability of becoming a noise or a piece of music - choice is yours in a similar manner. What would you like to be for others - a shrill noise or a sweet musical note?

Everything that you keep searching, craving and starving in the outside world, that every bit of knowledge and wisdom, lies within, it is just the realization that can carve a path within towards your goals. Excellent learning is there in The Seller of Beliefs by Trishala D Shaha where it says that the ups and downs in life never stay for long, it just is a testing phase for you on how to behave during these conditions. The real character of a person is when in solitude and if there is a wide gap between
how and what you behave in public vis-a-vis when alone, then it is a point of deep worry.

A small line can shake your heart to the bottom - A state of effortlessness can only be achieved through effort.

Overall a must read for any learner of any age who has an urge to look at life from a different perspective and is open to learn and adopt to make life simpler and happier.

The book describes a girl taking up a weird course which she was hesitant of going to. But the course turns around her beliefs in just two days. The book is a journey, a discourse to search what lies within. It aspires to search for the penultimate truth in its own unique way. The story is a search of the protagonist to find herself and inscribes a wonderfully woven chain of events .

The book being first from the author is worth appreciation for it's lucid language and story is smooth enough to keep the reader engaged till she finishes the book. It is a good effort which touches the heart and inspires. The book certainly could have been more effective had it been more intense in approach. But we can certainly expect that treatment for future writings from the author.

I would love to quote a few lines from the book:

"Kids are similar to a cheerful waterfall; they have crystal clear hearts and are least bothered about silly thoughts. The waterfall never thinks if it should fall now or later, or whether it ought to fall straight or zigzag, or whether its fall will hurt the rock or not. It neither has the mind nor the maturity to think to such extent. It simply goes on with its splendid freefall. Letting people judge and admire it."

"Desire by itself is not enough, you should deserve as well."

"Ignore the desire that people should always hold a high opinion of you."

"Shahrukh Khan is the god of acting." < Author certainly is a big Shahrukh fan ;) >

To sum up, Someone looking for a good story with a tinge of philosophy must go for it. It is a book for those who believe that change comes from within and for those who don't, this might change your perspective.

I got this book from first read give away. Thanks AUthor for giving me this book.

A very short and insightful book. Well written , and the story nicely told.
A girl under depression and self doubt being forced by parents to Join a 2 day class. She joins the class hesitantly. First day of class is nothing special and a task given to the students for second day.
A secret place, a secret task and secret outcome.

The Mail story is all that happens the second day. Students taken to a FAIR and assigned individual GUIDES. A Jar of PUNYA given for expenditure . The journey thru the fair changes the view of life for our girl.

This was the story element, short crisp and with awesome scope for maneuvering, The author has take good advantage of all these to deliver some good messages and thoughts.
I love lots of elements of what Author has tried to suggest.
Sometimes you pick up a book and have a feeling of DEJA-VU, Whatever is written is something you always believed in and tried to incorporate in your life. But somewhere down the line in your life you forget them.
This book gives all the ideas which i always thought were worth following , but the pace of life and put them somewhere in background.

"THE CHARACTER OF THE PERSON IS BEST JUDGED BY THE BEHAVIOUR WHICH ONE CHOOSES, WHEN ONE THINKS ONE IS ALONE AND NOBODY IS WATCHING"

This for me is the best line of the book. Lots more to make you think :)

Loved the booked and used a highlighter after a long long time ....
5/5 from me

The Seller of Beliefs is a narration of a young, dynamic girl about her visit to an unusual fair. The story begins with her reluctance to attend a two-day course, though she finally succumbs to her parents’ persuasion. As a part of her course, her teacher instructs to find, what she calls as, ‘essential ingredients’ and a ‘secret element’ from the fair. A guide is assigned to her who would take her around at the fair.

Now what’s so unusual about the fair? One enters it with no pennies and returns with nothing either. Instead a jar of Punyas is allotted to each. And for every joy ride or a game, an amount of the Punyas gets depleted. In other words, the fair is metaphorically depicted as the life of an individual which one enters with the punyas he carries at birth. The fair events are set as life-learning lessons which the girl is supposed to grasp with the help of the guide, whose character is subtly woven as a spiritual being.

I received this book through Goodreads First read in exchange of a review.

This book is first from this author and her writing style is new to me,it's nice and engaging. One of the best thing is I didn't felt bored till the end.

You know what they say about great things?
They come in small packets!
This book is nothing special or out of the ordinary & is actually written out of the author's anguish, which can be felt through the course of the book.

This was difficult to rate. I was fairly confused between a 3 and a 4,but I settled for a 3 because I certainly expect, more from the author.

Was expecting much more from the book, as the Title was so impressive.
One Positive thing is the writing style of the Author, but that can't make the story interesting. Well written but not enough juice in the story.
