Lightning on Ice #2

All-Star Pride

Rate this book
It's the All-Star team, made up of the WHL's young hockey players, just one short step away from the NHL. Their goal is to beat the Russian All-Stars in a best-of-seven series to be shown as a television special. Hog Burnell, one of the biggest and toughest players in the league, is happy to be part of it. He could use the money that would come with a series win by the WHL All-Stars. At the very worst, it's a free vacation to Russia. It doesn't take Hog long to discover there's plenty more money to be made along the way...if he's willing to pay the price for it.

I thought this book was really good because it has lots of action and lots of stuff going on. I really enjoyed reading it because there's a couple things that I like in this book. for example There is hockey it and there is some action in it I enjoy reading books about hockey because there usually is lots of action in them and I like reading about hockey because i just enjoy reading about hockey just in general because i play it and enjoy watching hockey and reading about hockey. I enjoyed most the part when "Hog" Burnell got his cheek cut open and had to get lots of stitches

I enjoy Sigmund Brouwer's writing a lot. While sports fiction isn't necessarily my thing (I am reading it for a genre challenge) he makes it interesting. I have read others by him and he never disappoints.

Wow! You would think that this book is about a young boy named Timothy Burnell who also goes by the name Hog, who is a great big WHL ice hockey star, and loves to smash his opponents into the glass, and wants big time agents to call him to ask if he would like to play on their NHL ice hockey games, but no, this book is sort of like a book about a mob.

Timothy Burnell thinks that he is only on a trip because he was chosen to be one of the WHL ice hockey players. He was chosen to be part of the WHL but he was also chosen later on to help Matthew Martin Henley smuggle Russian art into the states.

I'm not going to say a much more because it'll ruin the suspense... but here's a quote to help get you motivated to read the book "Mr. Eyepatch stepped out from behind an old truck. I almost speared myself on the huge knife he held. I managed to throw myself to the side and dodge the knife. He snarled something at me in Russian" (pg. 88)

ALL-STAR PRIDE is about a guy named Hog Burnell. He is a part of the WHL (Western Hockey League), which is a step below the NHL (National Hockey League). He is going to play on the all-star team against Russia. They even get to travel to Russia for the games!

They are going to have a seven-game series, and the first team who wins four games wins the series. Hog does not realize, though, that hockey isn't the only thing they'll be doing. There is plenty of more money to be made in Russia.

Soon Hog finds himself on the borderline of what is right and wrong: do I join in the schemes to make more money while in Russia?

ALL-STAR PRIDE is a thrilling story that will pull you in and not let you out until the book is over. I hope you consider this book for reading because I really liked it.

Hog Burnell is a WHL player who was selected to be on the WHL all star team. he is one of the biggest and toughest hockey players in the WHL. The WHL team played a 7 game series against the Russian all star team, and get a $100,000 reward if they beat the Russians. along the way Hog Burnell discovers there can be more money made while in Russiam, but instead of trying to make the extra money, he tries to bust the thieves. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys ready realistic fiction and sports fiction.

This book is about I guy named Hog Burnell who plays in the WHL and was selected to play on an All-Star team to play in a best of seven series with the Russians in Russia. It isn't smooth sailing for Hog when he get his hockey bag stolen. Will hog find his bag before the game or will his team have to forfeit the game because they don't have enough players? I recommend this book to anybody that is in to sports or realistic fiction. I would read another book from the Orca series and I got this book from the library.

I enjoyed this book by Sigmund Brower. He really knows how to catch the reader's attention with short chapters that persuade you to read "just one more".

All Star Pride was very interesting especially because it takes place in Russia, where Hog Burnell's hockey team is playing. There's illegal Russian things that Hog gets tied up in, there's a lot of hockey lingo and of course... mysteriousness. It's really written for boys, but hey, can't a teen girl read it too?

In this book, Hog has to deal with double-crossing. Harris, Hog, and the other people in the hockey team went to Russia to go against the other team. Harris starts paying Hog five-hundred dollars just to walk with him while he does something sneaky. I think that Harris pays him just to bribe him to protect him as he does something illegal.

Hog Burnell got on a plane to go to Russia to play hockey with an all-star team. It was a best to 7 series so that means first one to win four games out of the seven games win. When he landed they went to his hotel room. He had his first game against Russia that night. They sneak out after curfew and go to a black market and then the next day they had to travel on a train to the next place where they had to play game three of the best to seven-game series. This part of the book made me realize how much hockey players travel and how much they are away from their family's.
