Getting pleasure from pain makes me a sadist. I’ve been that way for as long as I can remember. Plagued by painful memories and a dark past, I use women to help me forget. I’ve done everything in my power to take control of my life, but there are some things I have no control over.

People think they know who I am, but in reality, they know nothing.

My name is Mason Cline.

But after today, you will call me Professor Cline.

I've had a passion for reading and writing for as long as I can remember. It has always been an escape for one reason or another. Now, I'm taking that passion and turning it into a book. My debut book Lifeless will be released late summer 2013. I can't wait for you to read this story that has been brewing in my head for over a year. :)

Emptiness. Darkness. It consumes me, like this powerful force which dragged me into a sea of nothingness, and I fucking hated it. I needed to feel. I needed to release it. It was poking at my skin from the inside and there was only one way to get it out.

I think I've been jaded, I may have read one type of dark romance and then I must have become stuck in my ways. So basically what I'm trying to say is that I have particular standards when it comes to a book of this genre. They're not high or low standards, they're just mine. I started this book expecting one thing and got something completely different, which is why I was probably bored about 70% of the time I was reading it.

Let me start off by telling you about what made me want to read this book. What I deduced from reading the synopsis was that the hero or anti-hero got off on pain and had copious amounts of sex with nameless woman to help him forget whatever it is that tortures him. And then the best of all he's a college professor who is drawn to one of his students (this I just assumed).

I'll be honest this is basically what I got but it felt like I was reading an extremely watered down version of it. I never felt this connection that the characters spoke of so passionately. The fact that the hero's childhood and teenage life was shrouded in mystery did not intrigue me, it annoyed me because I couldn't relate to the kind of person he was. Too little information about the hero's past in the beginning lead me to believe that the hero was in fact overly dramatic. In the heroine's case, she was doomed from the start. I lost all respect for her when decided to give her boyfriend the benefit of the doubt when his infidelity was staring at her right in the face.

If you come to my bed, Emma, I'm going to fuck you. I don't do the pansy-ass shit you're probably used to. I'm aggressive and I will give orders which I expect to be followed.

There's nothing wrong with vanilla sex people, but if you're promising a hot, aggressive fuck session then that's what I expect. Putting a blindfold over a woman and going at it doggy-style is not going to cut it for me. And yes I'm complaining about the sex scenes because I found them severely lacking in creativity. I was very disappointed in that aspect. The writing is very good, great imagery and the emotions... leaped of the page. But I feel like with this kind of story, where the relationship is based on sex. I feel like the writing should be simplistic otherwise your key scenes can get lost in between a bunch flowery words.

The was no way I could fuck her in my bed. The only person allowed in my personal space was my housekeeper, and even that had taken a lot of time to get used to. Too many of my demons lived in that room, and I wouldn't risk having someone in that space.
I opened the door and walked in to the gray room.
Everything in there was a shade of gray, minus the black bed.

I really think I should stay away from these kinds of stories, too keep myself sane. I actually hate this trope. Slightly older man introduces younger innocent woman to the darker side of sex, I'm really done with it.

I'm not going to go into the details of the story because it's pretty self explanatory. It's a teacher/student romance, although the taboo aspect was completely absent in my opinion. We have a tortured hero who happens to be a criminal law professor, and a young and innocent heroine who is his student. The story has a darker theme because of the and the supposed darker side of sex. This story is probably a combination of a few troupes but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. I've read this kind of story in some form or other, nothing new was brought to the table.

I will not change the way I do things, and don't ever expect me to. I told you earlier. I'm not your fairytale, Emma. I'm the man who will fuck you until you can't move."

“I will not change the way I do things, and don't ever expect me to. I told you earlier. I'm not your fairytale, Emma. I'm the man who will fuck you until you can't move.”

I've tried, people.

I really did. But I had to give up at some point...

This book sounded like it was written specially for me or some sh*t: A student-teacher romance, with a f*cked-up, damaged, tortured hero that promises dirty, filthy, rough sex! I mean what more could a perverted reader like me want, right?!

But OMG...what I got was more like a sweet sugary Disney version of that plot!

So why did NOTHING in this book work for me?

#1 // Mason Cline...

What a joke.

He's supposed to be a dark, tortured soul.

This guy was just an a**hole, and nothing more. Having a sad childhood could screw someone up, turn them into controlling, closed-off, dangerous people...but not necessarily into a jacka**!

Dear Ms. Author...THIS is not the way to create a damaged male MC, sorry.

He's supposed to be a brooding Dom.

Pfffft! He's one of the worst Doms I've ever read. No more comment is needed.

#2 // Goddamn Emma...

What a joke.

She's supposed to be a strong, independent young lady.

This poor little girl is the definition of a DOORMAT.

#3 // The incredibly, heart-breakingly, banging-my-head-on-the-wall kinda dull sex...

OVERALL: This could have been wonderful... The idea was great but the presentation lacked intensity and heat. I should have known that this book wasn't gonna work for me when Mason started using the word “princess” as an endearment... (UGGGGGGH!)

Read it at your own peril.

TEASER:

The grip I had on her hips loosened and I looked down to where I was holding her. Red marks splayed across her skin and I knew she’d end up with bruises in the morning. I’d taken her harder than I anticipated, but she knew to expect it.

Pulling out of her, she slumped down to catch her breath. I got off the bed and started to put my clothes back on. This was where most of the women got disappointed. I didn’t cuddle or speak words of praise. She was there for one reason. It was the only way I did things.

As I was tucking my shirt into my pants I looked down at her. She was curled into a ball and almost looked asleep.

“Stay as long as you like,” I said softly, before walking out of the room to get my things. She would stay in the room until she heard the click from the door closing. Then she’d more than likely take a shower before leaving.

I never stayed.

I’d go home and wash it all away. I’d convince myself that I was doing nothing wrong, that it was nothing like my past. It never worked, but it never stopped me from continuing either.

This book was weird and I can say that it was different. Different bad or good? The jury is still out on that?

Professor Cline is one fucked up son of a bitch and only uses women for one thing and one thing only...sex. That wouldn't be such a bad thing only that he has sex only one way:

description

He notices Emma at a bar where she waitresses and can't seem to get her out of him mind...only to discover later that she's in him criminal law course and his student.

description

From there on they start a cat and mouse game and we get to see glimpses from his past and start to understand the level of "fuckedupness" that he has and how he became that way.

description

But one thing is for sure...he doesn't want to let Emma go and he's willing to do much more to keep her.

description

This book ends with a ratter dull cliffhanger. Besides the fifty shades influence has an interesting story and is borderline dark romance.

If you're tired of the same old love stories this book deserves a chance. I can't guarantee you'll like it but at least you'll be intrigued and very curious of how Mason and Emma's story will play out.

*Actual conversation with my mom last night*
Me: I can't do this anymore.
Mom: What thing?
Me: Reading this book. I just... I want to rip my eyeballs out.
Mom: Ugh, harsh. How many pages are left?
Me: Like 29 I think. I'll leave it DNF. I can't deal with this anymore.
Mom: There's some ice cream in the fridge. Have some and then continue reading. Don't be rude. Poor author wrote the whole thing, the least you can do is finish it.
Me: ... Alright, I'll have some but I won't like the book afterwards.
Mom: That's why you don't have many friends.

And my mom talked me into finishing this book and man, that's not a good thing.

One of the main issues I had with this book was that I felt like I was reading a bunch of already read stories all together. And I think that the plot could've been delivered way better.

But my main struggle was the MCs.

Mason was a wannabe dom and I'm sorry because I know the man has like really serious issues but I couldn't sympathized with him at all. I didn't like him and I certainly didn't care if his dad was running a slaves sex emporium and he was truly screwed up as a boy. Damn sad biz, yes, but I did not feel a thing. Why? Well, Mason was an asshole. You can crave and have control in every aspect of your life and still manage not to be an asshole. Period.
description

And the only original thing about the man was that he cuts himself, that's all, and I couldn't even read those parts because I felt really inconfortable.

And then we have Emma, the chick thinks and wants us to think she's strong and capable of making her own desicions but she cannot say no the a man and actually mean it.
She wants to have sex with him? Good. She wants only sex with him? Great. But please, let me tell you that a woman is fully capable of having sex without falling in love.
I don't know how many times I have to say the same damn thing but WOMEN CAN HAVE SEX WITHOUT FALLING IN LOVE. WOMEN CAN JUST FUCK SO PLEASE STOP MAKING PEOPLE BELIEVE OTHERWISE. And please, stop writing dumb ass female characters who say one thing and do another. Most of us are not like that and men do it too.

The right thing to do was accepting Mason's idea of transferring her to another professor because, well, screwing your Criminal Law teacher is going to, eventually, screw you over. Those two are really inmature, throwing tantrums whenever they could and I was so sick of that "connection" they both had and wanted but couldn't deny. I want to call it lust because I don't see how I can meet a guy and want to share my deepest secrest with him an hour later.
description

And the sex scenes? I don't like when I'm promised hot stuff only to get dullness in the end. Bummer.

Anyhow, I think I'm being too harsh on this book but it was a waste of my time.

This book surprised me. It wasn't your usual professor/student story. It was so much more.
Mason Cline is a difficult man with particular tastes. He doesn't like getting close to the women he sleeps with. He has his own rules when it comes to affairs. He never sleeps with a woman more than once, he never allows them to touch him or get too close to him. He satisfies his urges and then he is gone.
One night, he meets a young woman who immediately captivates him. She intrigues him, she makes him curious.
What he doesn't expect is for her to show up in his law class. He is a professor and she is his student. She is unattainable and forbidden. He doesn't care. He wants her and he will have her.

Emma is a woman who follows the rules. She has a boyfriend and she has her life under control. When she is faced with the ultimate betrayal, she realizes that she hasn't been living her life as she should. When fate brings her to Mason Cline's path, she is shocked at how much he captivates her. When he propositions her, she isn't sure that she will be able to refuse him.
But Mason is not an easy man and being in his bed is not piece of cake. He has issues; issues that come with a dark past. He is a broken man; a tortured man.

What I loved most about this book is that we don't get your stereotypical professor/student storyline. The book doesn't focus on that particular aspect of the story; it focuses on Mason and I absolutely LOVED being inside his head. He is a very unique and dark man who ultimately, wants to do the right thing when it comes to his affair with Emma.

Are you thinking this just a student/teacher romance? Wrong, wrong, wrong on so many levels. JM LaRocca gives you so much more. I am honestly surprised at the depth of the story. This was fabulous!

Mason Cline is sexy, alluring, domineering, controlling, dark, and damaged. To cope with his past, Mason doesn’t date women, he f*cks them and there are rules. You don’t like the rules, no problem, Mason will find another “challenge”. Then Emma comes along and challenges the rules…… I loved her. Emma isn’t some weak woman that Mason can push around. She stands up for herself, and has no qualms about giving it right back to him. She’s feisty yet reserved. The chemistry between the pair……. oh my gosh, the chemistry….. it’s is through the roof hot!!!! And, the sexual tension will have you holding your breath just waiting to see what happens.

Professor Cline is an intriguingly very well-written and sexy story. Still can’t decide? Do you remember the butterflies you had in your stomach when you were first introduced to Gideon Cross (and I’m taking the very first book)? How about the feeling you were left with when you finished the first book? Well, JM LaRocca managed to give me that again. No, the story isn’t the same but if you liked what you got from the Crossfire Series you’ll definitely like what you get from Professor Cline.

So grab your books, it’s time to meet Professor Cline.

I LOVE JM! I'm super excited I had the chance to read this before it released.
And I seriously LOVED this book. I have a weak spot for damaged bad boys and Mason is at the top of my list. I don't read many "dark" romances but I gave this a chance and gah I am so glad that I did.

Mason has had a hard life, and he has lets say very specific taste. Emma is just getting out of a relationship with a huge asshole who was cheating on her and a relationship is the last thing she needs.

I love Emma, she wasn't a doormat but at the same time she was following her heart even when her head told her something different.

I thought this was an extremely well written book, sex was hot, alpha was hotter and I cannot wait for the second book! There is twists, turns, shit you don't even see coming.

Well I certainly didn't expect that. I thought this was gonna be a quick teacher/student but I was so wrong. This book was so much more.

Mason is a sexy but tortured soul. He refuses to get into a relationship and only beds women. His past has left him damaged and he can't seem to move forward. Emma's a great character. She gave as good as she got. I felt as if she was portrayed very well as a real person. Great twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

Brilliant read that had me gripped. Mason is one of my favourite damaged males. I'm so looking forward to reading more about him.
As this is my first read by this author I'll certainly be looking into her other books.

This was my second read by her and loved it. This was a very different read. It was sexy and hot, steamy, unique and different. I don't read much erotica but this was unbelievably amazing. I really enjoyed it. J.M. has a unique writing style that I enjoyed a lot and seeing in this. I thought the characters and book was well written. I liked how it was dual points of views, which I love seeing that in novels as well as past events for Mason. But I must say it was different I've read a lot of student/teacher/forbidden romances before, but nothing like this or as a erotica either. Huge plus there.

The story starts off with Mason (aka Professor Cline) getting in his daily romp. The physical side of him. I thought this was a great way to start off , because it immediately sends off a certain vibe, you get to step into the other side of him. Like a peek into the other world first which was unique and different of how she started this.

Later on his meets some friends at a night club for drinks, where he meets the heroine Emma. She spills some drinks on his jacket sleeve by mistake, and he immediate becomes attracted to her. From the first moment they meet they definitely have chemistry right away. I like seeing them at first trying to interact around each other as strangers and no pretenses.

I love when they finally meet as professor and student. Seeing both of them squirm in their seats, and seeing how they can keep this up while having to separate bedroom from classroom.

I thought Emma was a strong character. The way she had to deal with personal issues, and issues with Mason/ professor. She dealt with them some what well, which to me was very good better than anyone else would have handled it. I liked how she wanted to get to know Mason, and not the alpha in the bed room , or not just professor Cline either, but as a real person. I like how she was with him aside from her normal every day self.

Getting to Mason/ alpha male/ professor Cline. Boy what can I say about him. Too much to say. Boy what can I say about him. Too much to say. He was definitely an alpha outside and inside the bedroom. To me big turn on. When he wants something he goes after it. For him it was Emma. He was a little possessive and was becoming a bit of a hole too for that I felt bad for Emma. With the flash backs that were in Mason's point of view, it makes you realize why he's like this. He does the things he do. Why he's possessive and doesn't want a relationship. After reading those, I understood a lot more of him. And my heart ache on what he was brought up in, what he was thrown into, and what he had to endure and the grief and pain he carried.

But overall Emma and Mason are perfect for each other and has that connection that Mason isn't allowing to have, with Emma. I'm so excited for the rest to continue.

Highly recommend this.

Mason Cline is a Criminal law proffesor who has ALOT of issues. One night while out on the town, he literally runs into a waitress named Emma who he decides is going to be his next sexual conquest. At this point I'm praying to the reading Gods and asking them to give me a different storyline because I've been there, heard that and freakin read that.

So did I get my wish? Uhm No.I think this story reminded me of a lot of other storylines that I've read before. It wasn't all bad and I found myself still interested in it but I just wasn't in love with it. Mason was a very complex character to me and the whole you should stay away from me and I'm no good for you thing just irritated me.

Emma is a smart lovable character and I really liked her.She was NOT weak or whiny and she didn't put up with Mason's crap ( too much) Was she naive in the beginning at her own situation? Yes.I'm sorry the girl basically had damn neon lights flashing in front of her but she just didn't acknowledge it.

***ARC received in exchange of an honest review***

I've been waiting for Professor Cline: Revealed since last year and I just HAD to sign up for the blog tour!

This is the first book by J.M. La Rocca I've read and I'm definitely a fan!!!

Professor Cline: Revealed took me completely by surprise! I wasn't expecting a lot of twists that happened there!

What I most liked about this book? The fact that even though we have a hero with a broken past, it's still different! This is a dark romance (although for me it's darkish, because I wouldn't say it's really dark and my level of darkness is the HARD one lol). If you're not into dark romances you can still read it, it's not about kidnapping or anything like this.

Our hero, Mason Cline has a dark and broken past (I felt his pain - no pun intended) and J.M. wrote it perfectly, because we can relate to him and understand why he avoids all kinds of commitment. He is a college professor, so yeah this is a professor/student romance! HAWT!

I'm not very keen on teacher/student romances when they're in high school yet, but when the heroine is on college, all bets are off!!!

Mason is a Law School professor and being on Law School myself I found that extra hot!

Emma is a great heroine. She is attracted to Mason, even after she discovers he is her professor she is willing to have a sort of "affair" with him, but she also doesn't let him get away with being with her like he is with every other woman he encounters.

For instance, Mason is not a fan of repeats, and when he does the woman not only can't touch him, she can't see him. After an atempt on doing that with Emma and a failing (on Mason's part, which was surprise) we get to see that Mason's constant of non-commited sex was crumbling down.

Emma didn't know yet, but she made quite the impression with Mason. And it was quite out of norm for him!!

Mason is not a one dimensional character, at first we can't fully understand him and why he is the way he is, which I love. As the story progresses, we get to see more about his past and his troubled relationship with his father and how far into the darkness his father took him.

There is a complete twist there, a twist I wasn't expecting AT ALL! Hard to know now is how much would Mason be willing to risk to be with Emma. It's clear he wants to be with her, but there's much more in this way than just Mason being her teacher.

Compared to the hidden secrets and his father's own agenda make being Emma's teacher a little bump in the Mason's path. He is truly between a rock and hard place, but he's also gotta learn to share. Mason is very different with Emma than he was with anyone else before. Even the only girl he loved, back in his past. He learned a lot, but is it enough? Will Emma allow him to continue hurting her by being always hot and cold?

We know there's a reason for him to be all cold on her, after making love declarations. And then be all hot again, just to freeze up more...We know it, but Emma doesn't. Mostly because of Mason's own fear. Fear of not only losing her to his secrets, but fear of her getting more attached.

I felt Mason's struggle every step of the way. I felt the angst, the fear, the attraction. This is a book that makes you feel.

I can't wait to feel more on Book 2, there's not enough Mason for one book. But it might be enough of him just for me, so back off ladies!!! LOL

Mason meets Emma for the first time at a bar. Something about her sets his eyes ablaze. She, in his eyes, is different than all the other girls he's bedded. He makes it his mission to make her his next conquest. They have an undeniable attraction so why should the his position as her law professor hinder that? Although their relationship at school may pose a problem, it's Mason's dark past that will come back to haunt them.

Emma is sweet. But so naive. I can't say there was anything admirable about her character. There were moments when I questioned Emma's sanity and common sense. Her obliviousness towards Tim's unfaithfulness was baffling. All the signs were in front of her but she chose not to see them and ultimately made a fool of herself. Without questioning, she followed all of Mason's orders during their first intimate encounter at the condo. She barely knew him and agreed to his strange demands. My theory of her bad decision making was validated when she agreed to give him a second chance after what happened the first time they went on a date.

Mason. I have a love/hate relationship with him. He's an arrogant asshole which is my favorite kind of character. Reading his point of view was very helpful in connecting with his character. Often in books such as these we only get the woman's POV and although we get a decent idea of the male counterpart, it doesn't help the reader relate. Mason is a character you can't help but pity. His life hasn't been hard but it's dark and plagued with secrets. He's still trying to escape his tormentors but even as an adult, they won't let him go. He's done horrible things during his life in an effort to survive and protect those he cares about but his conscience and nightmares of the past won't let him find peace. He inflicts pain on his body to help alleviate the pain in his head and on his heart.

The story line isn't bad although the plot isn't all that new. Guy finds girl he actually likes. Guy has demons that tears them apart. Girl knows guy is bad but can't resist.

This book just slightly reminded me of Gabriel's Inferno. The teacher/ student relationship. The demons from the past. The friend that slightly poses a threat to their relationship. The jealous classmate.

I was confused about the synopsis and why they would mention his love for putting people through pain makes him a sadist if they didn't intend to incorporate kink into the book.

I am interested to see where this story goes so I'll be on the lookout for a sequel!

First of all I just need to say, when I am looking for a book boyfriend, I love a character with a dark, tortured soul and Mason Cline is that character for me. I can’t express how much I loved and hated Mason all at the same time. When you have a book and a character that have you reeling for days, you know it is greatness in print. I am a lover of dark romances, especially when the characters story is so captivating.

Mason Cline (Professor Cline) is a character that is hard to understand at first, he seems like a complete asshat, especially to the women he sleeps with. I use the term “sleeps with” because he does not date, at all. At first, it was pretty much all about Mason, how he feels, what he needs, how he needs it… but when you get more of his story, you can see there is definitely something lurking in the darkness. I think the best way to put it is, he is disturbed, not in a psychotic pyscho killer kind of way, but more in a, “I’m screwed up in head because of my twisted past and if I get too attached to you, I will ruin you too,” kind of way. There was a quote in the book that sums it up pretty good, “Thoughts of my past drowned me. Consumed me in the night and there was no way to get rid of them.”

Emma Blake is an amazing lead female character. JM La Rocca hit the nail on the head with her. She was the perfect combination of strong-willed and naive, which in my opinion is a hard combination to write. There wasn’t a time that I was ever annoyed with Emma’s character and that is hard to come by in a female lead character, especially when the male character is so dominate. I love when she showed some backbone and didn’t just lie down and take what was dished out to her. Her character was refreshing and a perfect combination to Mason. I loved the chemistry between Mason and Emma, and the best part, she is his law student! (WOOOHOOO <3… love some teacher/student romance). The twists and turns and dark secrets of this story will keep you entertained and wanting more.

This is definitely a book worth reading and I can’t wait to see where JM takes us in the next installment.

This was my first J.M LaRocca book ever....WOW! I honestly don't think that it can get any better then this. I Fluffing Loved it! It was intense and you never knew what this crazy man was going to do. That is the thing I loved the most about this particular book.
**Yes, it is based on a wealthy guy, with issues of course, that he keeps secret and he likes to be in charge of everything. It's the same as some others in that aspect but SOOOO different in other areas at the same time. She really WOW'd me with this fact.
*Professor Cline - Mason - is a complete ass!! Honestly, he is mean to everyone except Emma, haha well sometimes. If he was my professor...I'd be scared to breath for fear he would throw me out lol. But, once you break the surface with him and his issues, you can kinda see why. The things that he does to himself, really surprised me. This was definitely something that I didn't see coming. My heart was breaking for him within the first few chapters.
*Emmalynn - She is a smart driven woman trying to find her place in Law School when she meets Mason. And, well lets just say that she has no idea what she is getting herself into with this mystery man. She is not innocent by any means but she definitely has never seen anyone like Mason. The first sex scene, WOW..it will make you squirm in your seat but then also make you wanna cry for her. He is going to tear her life upside down. Will it be worth it? Or will she decide her future is more important?

All in all this book was amazing and full of surprises. The author did a very good job not giving too much away in the little details until the time was right. Actually, she wow'd me with the whole book. The writing is very good and the editing was also done very well. These are always basic issues that turn me away from a lot of books.
**** If you are looking for a suspenseful book full of surprises, that is also full of HAWT and steamy sex...this is it! She definitely does not disappoint in that area, at all. I LOVED it and she has just gained herself a new fan :)

**4.5 Stars**

OMG!! Where do I even start?

Mason Cline...my oh my. He is something else. I had no idea what to expect going into this book.

Mason suffered a great deal when he was 7 years old. I felt so bad for him because no child should have to experience what he did. His father was disgusting and I couldn't wait to see what his deal was.when we find out..WOW!!

Emma is student and NYU law school who works part time at a bar. She has dealt with a cheating boyfriend and she has some awesome friends :) She and Mason meet one night when he and his friends end up at the bar she works in. Their attraction was instant..especially on Mason's part. However, he is not the type for relationships. He sleeps with women and leaves them. Thats the arrangement. The way he is has alot to do with his father and I just wanted to give him a hug. He also . I felt so bad for him.

Here he is a Law Professor at NYU and who walks in his class? Emma :) From there it's intense. He will have her..that's what he says. Without going into detail, their story will have you wanting more. Emma is the one person that changes everything for him. I was so caught up in their story, that when I I got to the end, I couldn't believe it. The way it ended...I need book 2 ASAP!!!

Awesome J.M.. I can't wait for the conclusion to their story :)

“I’d told her I was bad for her, but she was worse for me.”

This is the first book I have read by J.M. but it will definitely not be my last. HOLY SHIT!!!

Mason is a devastatingly handsome yet damage man. He leaves you breathless yet totally on edge. He does things a certain way to keep control of his life. I found myself wanting to scream at him at certain points and other points, just wanting to dig inside his head.

Emma is a head strong woman. She has her inner battles, that anyone in her situation would have. You know certain things are probably wrong, but the itch to just push the boundary a little, drives you to do it anyway.

The chemistry between this two is real and raw. But one fights it and the other wants control It’s an intense attraction and the romance is not pretty. There are no hearts and flowers It’s a dark romance.

You must read this book!! I can’t say enough about it. And I won’t say more for fear that I will add spoilers and I don’t want to do that.

This is book is very well written. You can see everything as it happens as if it’s playing out before you. The book flows at a perfect pace, but it’s so intriguing, you will find yourself anxious for the next page. And you will be left wanting more!

so the blurb tells us he gets pleasure from pain makes which makes him a sadist and he has been that way for a long time. Painful memories plague him and he uses women to help him forget these memories. He likes to take control of his life and the women he f**cks.

I have waited for this book with so much anticipation. I opened the page and started reading..........................and where the hell did he go to because the sadist, the dominant, the controller was missing in action in this book and all we are left with it an unbelievable watered down version.

So much potential but the plot and characters Im afraid went down the plughole!

A massive disappointment. The character didn't deliver so lets see if he re-deems himself and show us what he is made in book 2.

This is my first J.M. LaRocca book and it won't be my last. Mason was an intriguing character from the beginning and I turned each page wanting to know what the hell happened to him to make him the way he was. Her writing is so well detailed and captivating. And even though there's a cliffhanger (of sorts) it left off right where you wanted it to - with Mason determined to FINALLY get revenge!

“If I were in your shoes I’d be freaked out, too. But doing things in life that are the most forbidden are the most exciting and adventurous.”

I love, love, love a well-written student-teacher romance story. Thank you,
J. M. La Rocca for knocking my socks off with this one. As a reader, you may be thinking, "We've read this before."  But, believe me,  you haven't. I am a connoisseur of this genre, and this is a new breed. "You can't judge a book by its cover."  This is the old saying and generally holds true. I have been looking at the cover of Professor Cline Revealed for weeks now and had in mind, based on the cover, what he would be like. Alpha male, possessive, dominant, hot lover. But the words in the book tell the true tale, and he is not as one-dimensional as I had imagined.

Mason
He is a well-educated, brilliant man of fierce control and authority. He plans his moves with precision and doesn’t like when surprises interfere with these plans. His routines keep him grounded, especially when it comes to women. He has a particular way he goes about finding and having a woman…that’s it. They are prey for his taking.

Emma
She is a bright and goal-driven young lady. She knows what she wants from life, and is doing everything she can to thrive in the life that she has currently. She is comfortable in her current circumstances, not realizing that just around the corner could be a world she has never experienced.

The initial interaction of these characters sets the stage for the story. Theirs is an unlikely meeting, but is definitely one that we would look at and know is going to make the earth shake. Each having their own life and moving at their own pace, not expecting to find the other. He immediately takes something from her, and he gives her one thing that has been missing in her life. It is a great foreshadowing for what is to come.

From there, things are not as easy and plain as they may seem. I am choosing not to give many elements of the story because it is definitely one that must be read to understand all of the secrets and details that are revealed. But, I will say that
J.M. La Rocca has given us characters with great depth and dimension, from the main characters to the supporting characters that added their own special flavor. I was moved during each interaction of Mason and Emma. At times I wanted to cry, then I found myself lost in their passion. There were also times when my predominant emotion was anger, especially when I began to have a greater understanding of what made Professor Cline tick. This book, in my opinion, would not have been as good had we not been offered the dual character point-of-view, as we were able to read the male and female view of life and relationships. My interest level was solidified within the first few pages and remained, intensifying with every flip of the page. Interwoven in this theme of teacher-student romance was possible danger and darkness, making for a more fast-paced and exciting journey. I am thrilled to have been introduced to the Professor and can’t wait to read the continuation of the story.

The words of Professor Cline that summarize my feelings for this book,
“You’re a fine wine I want to savor.”

Professor Cline is Mason Cline, a law professor at NYU. Emma is a law student at NYU. Mason is effed up 10 ways to Tuesday and Emma is…a law student….

I can’t put my finger on it but there was just SOMETHING about this book that didn’t do it for me. My best guess is that it was the depiction of Emma that left me with a case of the “meh”’s. Mason was a pretty compelling character, he was all angsty and effed up, just how I like them. When you put a female character into a story opposite a character like that, she needs some depth that I just didn’t get from Emma.

Emma was kind of the typical push-over 20 something year old just living life. The stuff that happened to her was more interesting than she was. So besides being physically attractive I didn’t really understand the connection between Emma and Mason. Emma was just…regular. There was never a point in the book when Emma really drew Mason out because of something she did. Now, that may be because this is a serial and we just have to wait to see what comes next but I’m a pretty impatient person. It’s like, if you want me to wait on a meal, I’m going to need a snack and I just didn’t get enough of one in this book.

I thought Mason’s back story was intriguing and I truly appreciated his very crazy coping mechanisms. I’m also a dark romance reader. If you’re not, things could get a little dicey for you. This doesn’t rank high on the “dark” scale but if you normally stick with the very “light” stuff, there could be some disturbing things in this book.

The writing of this book is good, the story, from Mason’s perspective is compelling and the sex is HAWT. My only issue with this book was that I found Emma, outside of the sex scenes, boring. That means I was bored by like 30% of this book. All that being said, I will still try Book 2 because I was intrigued enough by Mason to want to see what happens next with him.

A petty note: It didn’t effect my rating of this book but I went to law school and I don’t recall it being like this. I didn’t go to NYU (because those bastards had me on the wait list forever. Whatever, I’m over it) so I don’t know exactly how things go there but I’m going to assume it’s something like the school I did attend. I graduated several years ago so maybe things have changed but I’m reasonably certain they haven’t changed enough for the type of shenanigans that was going on in this book to be plausible. I say this in case you are considering attending law school and you think there is any chance any of this stuff will be happening to you. You are more likely to walk away with a nervous twitch and a lot of debt than a Emma-Mason situation.

Professor Mason Cline is a sexy, devastatingly beautiful, tortured man with a secret past the dictates his present relationships and career. Mason's father is a predominate lawyer who has half of the important people in NYC in his back pocket and a hidden agenda. When Mason discovers Emmalynn, a cocktail waitress, one night at a bar he's becomes infatuated with her beauty. Emmalynn is unable to look at Mason without blushing. Emma is in a relationship that is heading for an imminent beak-up when she discovers her boyfriends infidelity. Emma is innocently naive, her ex-boyfriend had been cheating on her for a year before started piecing the puzzle together.

Mason and Emma's next encounter occurs in the classroom. Emma is a first year law student and Mason is her Professor. Mason is unable to maintain a professional student-teacher relationship with Emma. He does offer to switch her to another professor, Emma repeatedly declines. They have an intense chemistry and they are unable to resist each other. Emma's life is thrown for a loop, she hadn't expected her life to be turned upside down. Mason continually warns Emma "I'm not the ever after you're looking for, Emma. I'm your one-night stand. I'm no good for you, I will ruin you." Emma is unable to heed his warning and unintentionally put herself in danger. Mason's past is unraveled, hidden danger is revealed.

Mason is damaged, a tortured past and a dangerous father have created an inescapable world of pain and fear. Emma has made Mason confront his demons and now must save her from them. Emma grows a backbone, but continually let's down her defenses when she's with Mason. I don't consider the story a dark romance, but rather a story of infatuation and lust with a twist of danger. The story develops slowly with past reflections being intertwined to develop Mason's character. I'm giving The story 3 1/2 stars because it has a very familiar plot, an abused hero who needs to find his strength to save the damsel in distress. The story doesn't leave you guessing but there is a cliffhanger.

This is an ARC given to me by Net-Galley

Stars: 3

Overall: The story starts with a Mason and some of the hardships he dealt with as a youth and how he deals with sexual situations now. Mason goes out to a bar with "friends" of his and he spots Emma and there is something about her that he can't get his mind off of her. Emma works as a waitress and recently her boyfriend has been staying out all night claiming that he needs to work late, but her friends believe that he is cheating on her. One night she goes to surprise him and finds out in fact that he has been cheating and she moves in with her sister. Mason can't get Emma off his mind, so when he sees that she is a student in his class, he cements the idea in his head that he will posses her and goes out of his way to make this happen. After this point we get to see into Mason's past and understand why he makes certain decisions and why he hates himself. As a reader we also get to see a relationship start out as something unfeeling, into something that blows both of them away. The ending leaves you with a big cliffhanger and a lot of questions about certain people in Mason's life.

Pros: I like that Emma is a more reserved character and she thinks before she acts. I am able to relate to her and what her character was all about. I know part of me didn't care for most of the flashbacks through out the book, but I did like that the POVs changed back and forth between them and we got a better understanding for why Mason acts like the ass he is. Like father, Like Son they always say.

Cons: I get that this is a dark romance, but it really bothers me how the author keeps switching back and forth between his past and present. I wish that the book would've started with his past and maybe a chapter or two brought it up, but the timeline from him being 13 to 17 and than back to 13 is just making my head spin.

Intriguing...

Mason Cline is handsome, rich and a respected NYU criminal law professor. He chose not to join his father’s practice but, instead, forge his own path. He was going to ensure his students learned everything they needed to be the best lawyers possible. On the surface, Mason seemed to be any woman’s fantasy come true. The reality was far from it. Since the age of seven he has been battling his personal demons with only the tools that he knows – intense physical workouts, indiscriminate sex and self-induced pain. When he met Emmalynn Blake he thought she would be the next in the never-ending women he used and discarded. Emmalynn was reeling from personal issues as well but wasn’t going to discard her personal beliefs and values for this man. He was treating her horribly though the intense attraction for him kept her giving him more chances. How many chances would he use up before there were no more?

This is the first in a two-part series about Mason and Emmalynn. I have to say I did not want to like Mason. I mean, not at all. He treats women as sexual objects only within his own rigid terms. He keeps an apartment kitted out specifically for his hookups. This distant approach to woman carries into the bedroom as he pulls out the blindfold and insists on his own version of anonymity during sex. No speaking and no peeking were the rules never to be broken. What can you like about someone so cold? As the story unfolds, however, you do find there is much more to Mason than meets the eye. Switching back and forth between Emmalynn’s and Mason’s points of view, much is learned about his childhood and what drives him today. Emmalynn’s voice is not as revealing. The story is different and the twists revealed throughout do keep you guessing. The writing style, the unanswered questions and the incomplete story between the two main characters will definitely have me seeking out book two.
