Major Milton Price DSC, MC & Two Bars spent over forty years of his life in the British Army, most of it in the vaunted 22nd Special Air Service where he set the standard for his generation in military skill, discipline and dedication. A master of the military arts, he’s participated in hostage rescue operations in downtown London and the steamy jungles of Sierra Leone, and direct action missions in the deserts of Iraq, Afghanistan and Oman. He’s fought his nation’s enemies on the streets of Northern Ireland, the jungles of Africa, and in the mountains of the Falklands. Now, as the patriarch for the Friends From Damascus, an elite counterterrorism team, he faces his greatest test of stamina, discipline and loyalty when he’s captured by extremists bent on retribution.
Cliff was born in 1963, and joined the Marine Corps right out of high school where he spent twenty-two years with the infantry. He served all over the world in a variety of billets including five years with the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team where he participated in operations in Central America, West Africa, and Europe. He has a master’s degree in History and Political Science and currently teaches both at a National Consortium of Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science, and Technology high school for academically gifted students. He currently lives in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas with his wife. They have three children.
Plagued by a couple of mistakes that bring the "Friends" down to a human level, they embark on a mission to destroy a bioweapons facility in the darkest corner of Africa. When Major Price is kidnapped, a good part of the story becomes introspective as the reader learns how he became the master strategist that he is. The stress on the team is taking its toll, and each of them is wondering if this latest mission is actually more than they can handle. Can they expand the membership to enable them to handle the more intricate and dangerous missions, or will the team be effectively disbanded. Another factor in the resolution of this problem is that all of the team members have a price on their head, levied by governments, criminal syndicates, and a lot of people that they have irritated or embarrassed over the years.
