Ancient legends, edge of the seat suspense, a heart tugging romance and such vivid details that the reader is right there at every turn of the plot. This is a wonderful story that will appeal to both Tony Hillerman, and other Native American based suspense tales. Ms. Holmes keeps you guessing until the last page where she delivers a happy ending and all the loose ends tied as well.
I so enjoyed the story and the accurate description of the Unalaska Island surroundings. I couldn’t stop reading it. Very personable characters and really fun! I look forward to more! Anyone who loves Alaska, adventure and a good mystery (not to mention love story) will love this book.
I liked this book. It was a romance, that had a lot of flavor; set in the Aleutian Islands and in the Northwest. Cora writes Native American suspense based tales and this had plenty of suspense. Grueling climbs, ancient legends and mysterious disappearances of people from their past. The story really held my interest. There were sex scenes, but the book was not overrun with them as some Romance Novels were. I enjoyed the read.
Exciting fast paced love story set in the cold Alaskan tundra. A heart reading encounter between a woman special-needs teacher who's mom is an archeologist and a half Aleutian man who been disinherited by his sheep rancher farther. I cried a lot for her as she struggled to find him, help him and love him.
