In order to give you an honest review, I must reveal some spoilers, sorry. I will try my best to not ruin the read for you completely if you decide to get this book.
Narrator review: Marami Hung has delivered another great performance in the final chapter of this short series. She truly captures the heart of Nancy, and malevolence of Jaxon in her tones and expressions. I love her, she awesome, and gets 5 stars from me!
This was the third and last installment of The Love Trials novella's. I was so expecting a big knock out fight, break up, something!! In the second book, Nancy finds out Jaxon's secret, and their was a murder! But Nancy didn't really find out the true secret, just the one Jaxon made up to keep her under his thumb. The relationship between Jaxon and Nancy finally go to the next level, in book 2, with them doing the nasty.
As we enter book 3, Jaxon moves to the next phase of his "secret" plan, which the reader is clued in on, but never poor Nancy. She NEVER finds out the truth! The murder of a friend, so she thinks, and the plot against Jaxon she thinks her father has on him just goes over Nancy's head, as she delves deeper into her affections for Jaxon. And the ending, WTF?! The story doesn't makes sense, nor does it give you a sense of completion!
This book had so much potential to go out in a bang, and left me flat. The build up to finding out Jaxon's secret, and how the situation would go down between Nancy and Jaxon, once Nancy found out the truth was awesome, but then the delivery fell short. Are we really suppose to believe that Nancy is SO gullable that she would put up with Jaxon's shit, or just forget the conversations she overheard between the other students and staff?? Well it seems so, because Nancy never investigates it, nor does she confront anyone about it, but yet it has her questioning reality and upset?!
In light of this, even though the first two books were very good, I don't think I could recommend this last book to anyone...unfortunately.
Alright, I finished it, that is about all I have to say about the story. Seriously not happy with the outcome. There is just something about this author that draws me in and gets me reading serials that I really do not love. It is weird but I just could not stop reading.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Marami Hung, who is fantastic. She has a great energy and sucks you further into the book. She is a big part of why I kept listening and needed to finish the serial. Her tone is pleasing and the energy she puts into it is engaging. It is a nice pace, but I like it a little quicker, so I punched up the speed.
*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Spoilers, sorry but I have to in order to express what I didn't like it.
I hate that he cheats on her with the slut, sorry, it ruined the whole book for me. And the fact that right up till the end he was playing her. I hated him and he never redeemed himself. Also, she took him back after leaving her at the alter??? I know there is another book but still, he's a scumbag, and with no explanation he shows up at the end after months and literally 1 minute later she wants to play with rope and have sex with him??? AYFKM????
The Love Trials has reached it’s conclusion. Secrets have been revealed, the final hand has been played, a murder has been solved, players have switched sides, and road to vengeance has been traveled.
Everything that happened in the final episode of this serial surprised me. At times I felt like the story was rushed and some scenes didn’t have enough “meat” to make them work in the story. At other times I found scenes that had too much “meat” , that made it feel like the words were just fillers. The ending was good and the characters found their HEA, however again it was too rushed.
The overall series was good but I do think the final episode was the weakest contribution. I felt the story was rushed, a times the character motivations did not seem realistic, and I found quite a few editing errors. The Love Trials serial is a good contribution to the overall story that has played out in The Ex Games serial and Private Club serial. I would recommend all three serial’s because J. S. Cooper has created some fascinating characters in a world that is beyond our imagination.
*** SPOILERS *** Whilst I really loved the EX-Games and The Private Club. I got totally annoyed at this one. Nancy was a really smart girl, she had finally learned where she came from and how complicated her background was but seemed to leave all of her common sense at the door when she walked into the Lover's Academy. Why the hell would she have unprotected sex?, why would she agree to marry someone she didn't know after just a few days? why didn't she leave and do some research? why didn't she trust her Father? After everything Brandon had done for Nancy, why did he leave her there?, why the hell did this very clever man believe the story about Nancy being pregnant and believe she wanted to marry a man she didn't know and not even speak to her about it? It was just totally unbelievable and unrealistic. I do hope that this story line changes in the final book. I know we all like our romance stories and a bit of escapism, but this was just all wrong. Sorry!!
I'm sad this series is over but happy to hear there will be something to tie them all together. I really enjoyed this series but have to say by this book I was left a little unsure. I felt like it was kind of left hanging. There was no real closure in my opinion. No confession of sins like the other series had. I felt like it was missing a little something at the end. I'm really hoping I get that something in the final story. With that said I did really like the series and getting to know Nancy better and get to see a little bit more of Brandon's devious ways.
I can't believe that is the ending. It's as if the story was only half written. Nothing about Brandon's thoughts or actions. Nothing about Amber, Shannon, Louise or his "dad". What part did Hunter really play? How did Jaxson pass off all his dirty deeds and just how STUPID can one girl be, Nancy? She heard enough and saw enough that even the most naive person would have questioned every action. The story really missed the mark. It could and should have been so good. What a shame.
Well I m totally gutted that it ended like that I ve enjoyed it so much an then it ended bang that's it I luvd nancy I like her in the private club an was delighted she was gettin her own series but wanted 2 slap her a few time cause she was so wrapped up in jaxon an who wouldn't he's gorgeous but we did find out anything out at the end wanted 2 know so much more gutted just needed more of an endin xxx
After Love Trials 2 kept us hanging at the end (no spoilers)Love Trials 3 picked up right where it left us in Nancy and Jaxon's story. This book gripped me and I couldn't put it down till I was done. Leave it to JS Cooper to take you where you never thought the story would go. A great series and a fun read. Yet I don't think Nancy and Jaxon's story is done yet.
The first book by JS Cooper that I didn't give 5 stars. I loved the story line with all its twist, turns & hold your breath moments that Cooper is famous for. However at the end of this book I felt was a huge letdown. All was forgiven in a 5 minute conversation after showing up at the dorm.Really?
It's hard giving feedback on this series. I've read the others from this author, that link to this one. I've had a hard time liking the main characters. This one was, for me, the worse one of all. Nancy's character was, just to stupid to live, shallow end of the gene pool, in need of serious therapy. Jaxon's character is sleazy, untrustworthy, and would put most professional con artists to shame. I didn't, couldn't, buy that he fell in love with her. He would have been more likely to have married her, took her for every penny he could get his hands on, then moved on to his next victim... and the next, etc.
I saved my thoughts for the end. Volume 1 was great. Loved the cliffhanger. Volume 2 wasn't as good but could redeem itself. Volume 3 went completely out of left field and ruined the story. It's like the book was started by one person and then they decided to write the 2nd part together and then the 3rd part was written by someone who hadn't read parts 1 and 2. No. Just nope. I gave it 2 stars because I finished it, but nope. I spent $7.99 on a paperback version of this. Nope. I want a refund.
I absolutely love Coopers books. But this series seems unfinished to me. I don't like the ending of book 3 at all. I feel like I was left hanging off of a cliff after reading them all three in a day because I grew so attached to the story line.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I loved this series, loved the characters, loved the story, the background. Yes Nancy was at times gullible and slightly naive but she is young and vulnerable. This is the last book in the series and it rounds up and answers all the questions.
In a way i am really sad to be saying goodbye to this series, to Nancy, to Katie, to Meg, to Brandon and Greyson.
I did not trust Jaxon, i could not get a grip on his angle, why he was so bent on revenge. It was during this book that i started to trust him, although he did have issues with telling the truth and not a half Jaxon truth. He did seem to want to be everything Nancy needed and deserved.
Amber and Shannon, i thought they had a hidden agenda and i was right but it was not what i thought it to be. They wasn't really vindictive or mean, just bitchy due to what they had been told and what they believed to be the truth.
I wasn't sure about Jaxon at first, but then he seemed like he was opening up to Nancy, which we all know, has already been through hell, I mean finding out her sister is actually her mother and then she meets her father and his family. Nancy really isn't sure if she trusts Jaxon, she really wants to but she has a nagging feeling that he's not being honest with her. If you remember the end of The Love Trials 2, there was a shooting and we do find out who the victim is but I don't want to spoil it for you. So, why don't you 1 click it and find out if Jaxon is what Nancy wants and who she ends up with. J.S. Cooper, you just amaze me, I mean you keep writing hit after hit, I just don't know how you do it, you have so much going on right now. Everybody needs to show J.S. Cooper a lot of love. Thank you.
The Love Trials 3 prologue pulled me in right away and let me know we were in for quite a ride.
The story picks up with the standoff between Jaxon, Brandon and Greyson. Jaxon is bent on his vendetta against Brandon and isn't above lies to stick it to him.
Nancy is so confused when she is told that Hunter was killed. Jaxon tries to convince her that Brandon isn't a good man and that he was the one who killed Hunter. He convinces her that they should get married so they can be protected from both their fathers.
We find out about a lot of the secret/lies being told and why Jaxon hates Brandon so much. Jaxon's plan is to use Nancy to hurt Brandon, but what he didn't count on was how he would come to feel about Nancy.
So, what will Jaxon do for love? Or, better yet, what wouldn't he do for love?
All of the major plot points happened wayyyy too quickly.
When I read this was the third and final installment, I was a little surprised because I thought they would have a lot to wrap up in this part. Said wrapping up didn't actually commence until I'd read around 88%.
She was far too forgiving, and the fact that she didn't ask the right questions just made her plain stupid and naive. And he...Jaxon was just a class A jerk. Not in the typical sexy Alpha male way, but like a piece of crap on the sidewalk in the heat that stinks so badly, you have to run past it just so you won't catch a whiff.
This book is like an underwhelming "O" - built up with great anticipation and then you're left feeling like THAT was IT???!!!
Very disappointed. If you like serials, I suggest investing in Deborah Bladon. Do not waste your hard earned money on this.
First off I'll mention that I feel I can't fairly review this book. The main character is 18 years old and I think this would be a much better read for someone 18 - 20 something age range. The story-line is for a much younger based than myself and that was my only issue with this book. Otherwise, Although this is a short story, you really get a lot of background info that helps you really get to know the characters and really helps build the plot. However, I did continue on and read the novellas in the order given on Goodreads. The Ex Games novellas 1-3, then The Private Club novellas 1-3 and then The Ex Games #4 (After the Ex Games) and then The Love Trials novellas 1-3. I did enjoy some of the novellas more then the others but I think anyone in the 18 - 20 something age range who likes this genre would enjoy these novellas.
All the secrets come out and they took me by surprise, more so than I expected. I really liked Nancy and Jaxon up until now. Nancy was still sweet as always and while Jaxon wasn't always of good intentions, he redeems himself. Still, I got a little lost with the motives behind the Lover's Academy setup and the reasoning behind it as the fuel for the story. I'm thrilled Nancy found what she wanted most because she deserved it. Jaxon proves he isn't heartless but his transformation had me wondering when he was being authentic vs not. I liked the previous 2 volumes more but am glad to have all the questions answered finally.
I absolutely loved this book. The lies and deception just kept building, but Nancy and Jaxon still grew closer. I think that the interlude with Brandon, Greyson, and Jaxon was too short. It seemed rushed. I felt that a little more elaboration would have been nice.
The entire book seemed rushed. We don't know what happened to Amber, Shannon, Louise, or Jaxon's Uncle. Where did they all go? Where did Jaxon go after he left Nancy at the altar? I really liked this book, but it seems like there needs to be one more book to tie everything together. I really love The Love Trials series :)
