The Story of: HAWK, PIERCE, SHOT & FOX ALONG WITH THE OTHER BEASTMASTERS
Pierce aka Strategic Intelligence Specialist, Backhander is back to flush out some of the DEA’s most notorious criminals, and he has one helluva’ team backing him up. The country’s most decorated Navy Seals…the Beastmasters.
Pierce is more than capable of doing his job, but he has one insanely hot distraction that continuously causes him to second guess his hidden orientation. Dane Aramis, call-sign, Hawk. Hawk can see what most people can’t, and whether his sexy Pierce wants to admit it or not, he can see the brilliant man’s desire runs deep for him.
However, when Pierce and the Beastmasters are on their final assignment, the last person they expect to encounter with the opposition is rogue assassin…Omega. The man is unstoppable, and when he comes too close to what Hawk holds dear, the Beastmasters call on the only man that can control the lethal assassin. Omega’s faster, deadlier brother, Alpha.
Bringing Alpha back into society may be disastrous for everyone involved. But, Hawk is willing to take that risk to keep Pierce safe.

This is Reality by A. E. Via Blue Moon book 2. M - M romance with erotic elements. Best as part of the series in order. Ex-military and government agents team up to catch criminals. Multiple romances and relationships continue and expand while a dangerous assassin is tracked.
Hot, built and dangerous men get steamy. Hawk and Pierce. Shot and Fox. Call and Alpha. 2.5 rounded up to 3 for the multidimensional mental issues each of the men had to deal with.
The Beastmasters are an interesting idea. There probably may, or at least, could be a hidden group like this that come in to help the military and the law enforcement agencies fight the enemies of our country...and I'm also as sure that we NEVER hear or know anything about them. The group had a brief appearance in the first book, Blue moon: Too Good To Be True...well, they are back, and they dominate this story. First, we have the main couple, Pierce, aka "Backhander", the brainy leader on his last few missions before retirement. Pierce is a smallish guy, without military background, who has always loved the idea of strong alpha men but has always been too afraid of the damage they could do to pursue any type of relations, sexual or otherwise. Then there's "Hawk", who is known as "the Seer". He's one of the snipers on the team who has a sixth sense...he sees “visions” that the all the team have come to completely rely on. "Hawk" is also an extreme alpha, domineering and commanding. While these puts Pierce off for quite some time, "Hawk’s" persistence pays off, and Pierce eventually gives in. Then, there is the team’s other sniper, "Shot", and fellow teammate, "Fox". These two have been carrying on a very heated “friends with benefits” relationship for quite some time... but they have some issues. "Fox" wants to take their relationship to the next level...then to retire and have a normal quiet life. "Shot" suffers from PTSD and is afraid he will hurt "Fox" physically, without meaning to, while dreaming the dreams of past terrors. Therefore, he is terrified to get further involved. Rounding out these couples, all with major issues... is the captain, "Call", and the mysterious assassin, "Alpha". "Call" seems to have the same basic issues as the rest of the team. He doesn’t believe he is relationship material. He has too many demons and been doing the SEAL thing for too long. He is also reaching retirement and it seems "Alpha" has taken an interest. "Alpha" is just that – a domineering alpha, and the most lethal, assassin anywhere. If anyone needed another story, it is these two. This is a very fast-paced story. Actually, it's TOO fast paced. I had trouble telling the good guys from the bad guys and they were all a bit TOO over-the top, "macho man". I will read the third book soon, but I hope these guys have settled down some. Even though it's a trilogy and some events from the first book are mentioned, I believe this one could easily be read on its own...and each book tells the stories of more than one couple...which is also a bit hard to keep separated.
The Beastmasters are back! We were teased by them in Blue Moon: Too Good to be True, and while events from that book are mentioned, I believe this could easily be read on its own. As with the previous book, this one tells the stories of more than one couple.
First, we have the main couple, Pierce, aka Backhander, the brainy leader on his last few missions before retirement. Pierce is a smallish guy, without military background, who has always loved the idea of strong alpha men, but has always been too afriad of the damage they could do to pursue any type of relations, sexual or otherwise. The, there is the mysterious Hawk, who is known as the Seer. He one of the snipers on the team who also happens to have a sixth sense and gets “visions” that the men have come to rely on. Hawk is also extremely alpha, domineering and commanding. While this puts Pierce off for quite some time, Hawk’s persistence pays off, and Pierce eventually gives in.
Then, there is the team’s other sniper, Shot, and fellow teammate, Fox. These two have been carrying on a very heated “friends with benefits” hot and heavy sexual relationship for quite some time. These two are smoking hot, but they have some issues. Fox wants to take their relationship to the next level, wants to retire and have a normal quiet life. Shot suffers from PTSD and is afraid he will hurt Fox when they sleep. Therefore, he never stays over and is terrified to take the next step.
Rounding out these hot couples with issues is the captain, Call, and the smexy, mysterious assassin, Alpha. Call seems to have the same basic issues as the rest of the team. He doesn’t believe he is relationship material. Has too many demons and been doing the SEAL thing for too long. He is also reaching retirement though and it seems Alpha has taken an interest. Alpha is just that – uber alpha. He is the baddest, most lethal, assassin around. He is beyond stealthy and faster and more mysterious than anyone else. If anyone needed another story, it is these two.
This is a pretty fast-paced story. It grabs you pretty quickly and keeps you turning pages. It has a nice mix of dialog, sex and a lot of action. I love that these guys all have issues, but that we get to see them work through some of them. I also loved that these guys are all a little older. They are more experienced and still have it going on, even if they are all ready to retire to quieter, less deadly lives. I would have liked to have seen more with respect to the PTSD, but was more than happy with what we did get. Ms. Via sure knows how to steam up the pages, and the Beastmasters are definitely some badass hotties.
I DNF'd my 2nd reading at 60%and updated my rating. I was reading it again thinking I might read book 3. I won't be. This didn't have the campy, outrageous flavor of book one or the alpha-hero and humor of the characters done in the Nothing Special series.
It always amazes me the high ratings this author gets for his/her work, really it does. Blue Moon, like all the other books I've ever read from this author was garbage. From the kindergarten writing style to the highly emotional main characters to the rather nonsensical plot, everything coalesced into a big pile of unimpressive crap. Hawk and Pierce were so forgettable that I'm pressed to provide more details on what their story was about, I mean there was nothing of substance to this 100 plus pages of laughable fodder. I knew what to expect yet I picked it anyway and that fault lies with me, so instead of me going on and on about this I'll just end it here.
ah! This! I mean, the first book with Max and Angel is my absolute favorite but Dane and Pierce? Ah man, the love that I could off the pages was just...well shit it was just lovely! Such a great read Via! I laughed, I cried in heartbreak and I swooned all in a matter of the days it took me to finish!
May 20th I read it again lmao and love it the same. Well I audibled it this time but i stand by my initial review!!! Dane and Pierce? PERFECTION!
December 6th I CONTINUE TO STAND ON MY REVIEW! I love me some Dane and Pierce. At this point they are just a comfort read 👏🏽
This story had all the stuff I've enjoyed in the author's previous books: hot alpha men with a bit of damage, steamy sex scenes and fast-paced action. The story picks up with the Beastmasters who were introduced in the first book, but also adds two new, mysterious characters. While I enjoyed it, I didn't like it as much as the first as things seemed a bit rushed. I enjoyed the addition of Alpha and wouldn't mind seeing his story in the future.
Think I’ve fallen for Hawk myself. More from the M/M stable of this wonderful writer. Hawk and Backhander are predominately featured, but also, Shot and Fox , Call and Alpha who I’m sure we’ll here more from in the future books. Great characters and entertaining storyline.
Because it's about the most ridiculous characters in this book, and that's saying a lot. Look, I get you have to suspend belief to read this, I really do. As a matter of fact, the whole big explosions and gun fights - totally fine, I’ve always enjoyed the way she writes those. However, two super ninja warriors, from Persia, that are part of an "order" and walk around with hoods and capes, are just beyond ridiculous. Not only that, she totally tried that same BS in her last Promises book, and we all know how well that worked out. I laughed at how utterly dumb and unoriginal Alpha and Omega were. Oh they were invisible, but everyone knew who they were. I gotta say, I’m fairly certain I saw that whole schtick in a movie once.
Pierce - that character needed to be fleshed out more. He was weak. Genius DEA agent, turned firefighter, who was brought back for some missions as get this - BACKHANDER. Which btw, got real freaking annoying real fast. Oh, but do tell, why was he called that? It was his thing. He backhanded people. Funny, since he’s also described as basically a twink, with no real physical strength. Hawk was fine, Shot and Fox were fine too. The last two chapters were throw always really, stuff happened that needed explaining because she made it part of the story, but basically said meh, don’t worry about it. I can usually overlook a lot of the issues with AE's books and her writing, but yeah no, this was not great. So no, I won’t read book 3 in this series and I can’t imagine it being a big loss.
I’ve got two more books in me for her. One more for Promises and one more for Nothing Special. If those are as ... blah, as the last two books, I’m totally breaking up with her.
★★★★ A hot follow-up to Blue Moon: Too Good to Be True, this focuses on The Beastmasters, the elite SEAL team that saved Angel in the first book. While it was mostly about Hawk and Pierce, it also featured the romance of Angel's father, Shot and his lover, FBI agent, Fox. Overall, an awesome book and series that is a must-read! It just went too fast for me! It seemed like I just started reading and it was over. And I want more of The Beastmasters! And with the intro of Alpha, there are most definitely more stories to tell!
Can't stand alone. So much of the intro to this book is missing (probably because it's a sequel) making it harder to follow. It isn't as well written as the ones before it. Feels like there are too many plots going so none of them gets the focus it deserves. Would probably have done better as three separate shorts instead of such a mixed story.
WOW… talk about a story to remember! Fast paced action! Hot man-on-man love times 4!!! Hidden heroes! Mysterious appearing engagement rings! This was like four stories in one… and every single one of them was great! Eight men, all strong in their own way, who were fighting to live long enough to retire in peace, with the one that they love… *sigh*
Hawk is the gay epitome of a neckbeard. He has no respect for being told "no" and "I don't like you" and "leave me alone." Then he mentally accuses his love interest of playing hard to get. I had to stop reading this book halfway through because I was fed up with Hawk. That crap is not romantic at all.
It's review time 🎧 Warning ⚠️ : M/M romance, military story.
Narrator score🎧 ; Tim did a good job, he did a
Level of steam🔥: hot! Very hot, some of the sex was very quick in here and some was very hot.
Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: the book was more with action that with sadness, but I did feel sorry for both of them in some moment.
The book itself📖: it was definitely better than the first book, i did had issues with the book, but it wasn't as bad as the first book, this storyline was more complex, the description still was about how perfect they are, but the fact that one of them had saver PTSD helped to humanize the story. The relationship was kinda toxic in some times and it felt more real the quick sex, the deeper feelings everything was better than the first book, the premonitions added kind of a mystery to it. And it was nice. And the fact that we encountered more than one couple in here was great .
So here’s my thing with this one. It’s not even my 20th re-read of it. I tend to fall back on my comfort reads when I’m waiting for a new release to come out. I love the Beastmasters. I love how riveting the action scenes are. I’m glued to the page and holding my breath at times. I don’t love that this book has been out for over 5 years and the author still hasn’t updated us with a newly revised edition after the multiple reviews mentioning the poor editing. It makes me sad. I feel like once you are aware that there’s an issue with your ebooks, regardless of how wonderful the story is, that you would put in the effort to make the changes to show your readers that you think they deserve better. Cause we do. This author isn’t new anymore more. She even self pubs under her own publishing house and brings in other authors. She’s better than this. It’s so disappointing.
Alpha: Well that would be a shame. You’ve given enough for your country. You owe them nothing more. Gave them your beauty. I’ve seen your anger. Your controlled rage. Nothing to pour all that energy into. No outlet. I look into your beautiful eyes and I see the real you. I see your supremacy and strength. I see your weariness, too. You’re tired. Tired of the command. You’re ready, John.
Call relaxed, but he turned his head away, to show the side that had no scar tissue.
Alpha: I won’t allow you to hide. You actually think your scars bother me?
Call slowly turned his head back, showing him his disfigured face.
The endearments were not over the top, plus neither couple was an Insta-love connection. The histrionics of the male characters were toned down. The story was still very intriguing and full of action. One still needs a healthy ability to suspend belief, but not quite as much so as before. We do get updates on the previous couples, but this book can definitely be read by itself.
The only thing that stood out for me as a real negative was part of the ending. A lot of why the Beastmasters were held was never explained. A Character would say he didn't want to explain but would later, yet it was never really explained to us as readers either. What we were told didn't really make sense to me, yet it didn't really dampen the story overall for me.
We met the Beasrtmasters, FBI agent Fox, and Pierce in the first book when Angel is kidnapped then rescued by the men now prominent in this sequel. Just as in the first book we follow the rocky relationship and love of two couples. There is a lot of exciting action, heavy testosterone, sex and love. There is a strong sense of camaraderie while these men have run ins with Russian gangsters getting a real foothold in the U.S. There are action scenes that would make Hollywood proud. We get an HEA for our two main couples, Pierce and Hawk and then Shot and Fox with a budding possible relationship set-up for the next book. This is a most entertaining book and I highly recommend it.
Well... The story had some good moments. If you are interested in a cheesy, action romance that reads like a first draft of a a boy on boy fantasy, you will have some fun. I got hung up on the need for content editing. I can suspend disbelief for the sake of a good story sometimes, but this was too much for me. Having internal dialog that is pointing out how people don't understand military life, and then making mistakes about military related details is just too hard for me to ignore. Special Forces is not a branch of the military. A Navy Seal isn't going to say that. Just no.
I enjoyed the narration. I like some aspects of Via's writing. I would like this series better if it had better content editing.
This book is so much better than book one, and I was happy to see the writing of A.E. Via that I missed in the previous book. Blue Moon II is Hawk and Pierce ' s story, with Shot and Fox also taking part of he spotlight. It has a fast paced storyline that flows, intense romance and hot sex scenes. The men are all fierce fighters, and gentle lovers. I truly enjoyed reading this story, and have moved up Hawk as my favorite Beastmaster. The ending leaves it open for Call and Alpha ' s story, which I am now intrigued by. Well done A.E. Via. Another successful group of men I can eagerly get to know and love.
Pierce or Backhander as he's known came off like a straight hardnosed Alpha male in the first book but in this one....ew
I was waiting for him to faint and coo like some damsel in distress. Hawk goes to find a hook up when he got shot down yet again. Said hookup gives him the 10 min advanced exition of Why Hawk Keeps Getting the Brush. Of course, that little turn around was enough to crack open Puerce's "resistance".
Cliches abound with instalove getting slung around quite a bit. Glad it was cheap.
