LOVED! Where do I start? How about I start with the fact that I just inhaled this book! I was captivated from the first word to the last. I was never bored, or distracted, completely taken by the thrill and suspense.
Jack and Djinn is a step outside the norm for a Jasinda Wilder book, but that just makes it so much more impressive! Wilder takes a gander at the paranormal romance genre, and produces an original and exciting read. Jack and Djinn is a great mix of reality and the supernatural. In a world of magic and fantasy, the author injects very harsh reality.
The heroine, Miriam is an average girl with not so average capabilities. She is living a life filled with horror, stuck in a nightmare she can't escape from. At a time in her life when she's lost all hope, and has learned a helplessness that's left her numb, she realizes that hidden deep within herself is a strength, a fire that dimly glows. This faint flame grants her the glimmer of light she needs to find her freedom. Jack is the man that Miriam needs, not to save her, but to show her a true reflection of who she is, so that she can see past the warped image filtered through her fear and low self-esteem. Miriam learns that in order to take control, she has to let that fire blaze.
This book was very fast-paced and suspenseful. It opened with a mystery that snatched my attention immediately. The clues to the mystery unfolded in a nonlinear narrative, which I believe enhanced the suspense, and kept me intrigued. I thoroughly enjoyed Miriam and Jack, but I also loved the supporting characters in this one. The whole lot was diverse, multidimensional, and interesting. Mrs. Wilder usually writes characters that represent the many shades and shapes of her readers, and this book was no different. Love that! The cast of characters in Jack and Djinn added layers to this story, creating a new world, and making this more than just a romance. Of course this had steam (it's Jasinda Wilder!), but the sexy was one of many layers, and not the whole cake. This opener to The Houri Legends series left me very happy and completely satisfied. Well, maybe not totally satisfied, since I am desperate to read the rest of the series. Hey, there's always room for more Jasinda! I definitely recommend you read this one!

Another winner from the amazingly talented Jasinda Wilder. I never once doubted the author's ability to deliver a compelling story, one stretching the boundaries in regards to her norm, but this is pure genius - creativity at it's best.
Jasinda composed a novel driven by raw and riveting emotion. Bearings derived from life's realities and genuinely conceivable circumstances. The characters are rich and intriguing, well developed with the unmistakable blazing chemistry that IS Jasinda Wilder.
The plot is captivating, adventurous, magical, and it demands your attention. The suspense drove me mad and held me captive until the very end. I cannot wait until the next book in the series.

*** Little Tiny Baby Spoilers About Plot Basics ****
I loved the cover of this book and admit to being lured in by the great colors and design combined with the title. I'm a sucker for great marketing! But it's the writing and story that kept me reading. Amber Sweetapple can write! Her descriptions of the magic in this book are very poetic. I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see she writes poetry too. Oh, and the sexy parts were just sexy enough for me. Weeee! :) I don't want to put any spoilers in here, so I'll just say that I love the idea of a book about a different kind of magic than I'm used to (another author who does it well is Samantha Young), but this book stands on its own, different in many ways. I admit to being frustrated with the MC when she wasn't standing up for herself enough, but I know this is a true dynamic of an abusive relationship, and it was oh so satisfying to see her finally come into her own. Amber Sweetapple did a good job getting me to hate Ben but also see how Miriam might be drawn to him. There's a lot of underlying understanding for the human condition displayed in the characters and their thoughts and actions - it makes it believable and real, even when it's fantasy. Bravo, Amber! Looking forward to the next installment.

Well, it's official, I am a Jasinda Wilder virgin no more. Now, I know some of you are doing the Minion Whaaat?!" expression from Despicable Me, but it's the truth. Jack and Djinn popped my cherry and it was an excellent book to have popped it! I so very much enjoyed reading this book and I'm very excited to read more from Ms. Wilder!
Miriam al-Mansur's life has never been easy, in fact, it's been downright hard and painful, but that's just the way it is and there's nothing she can do change it. Or that's what she thinks anyway, but while things have already been set in motion, it takes being saved by a kind, handsome stranger for Miriam to find herself and to fight for herself.
I truly liked Miriam, she was a fine heroine. There were times when I didn't agree with her, when I was upset and angry with her, and times where she made me feel just as helpless as she felt, but it helped me connect to her more and understand her better. It might not always seem like it, but she is strong and brave, maybe a little foolhardy sometimes, but courageous nonetheless. Miriam was real and kind and it was great seeing her grow. I really loved her character.
Jack, Jack, Jack. What can I say about Jack, other than he's totally awesome? He was a wonderful hero and just perfect for Miriam. He's patient, kind, gentle, understanding, accepting, and caring. Really, the list can go on and on with Jack, I have no doubts that he'll steal your heart just as he did Miri's.
Jack and Djinn is a magical, beautiful story filled with heat, mystery, danger, heartache, struggle, and action. It's about discovering yourself and your worth, fighting for yourself, and ultimately freeing and loving yourself. It's wonderful and meaningful and I loved this book!
Jack and Djinn is a standalone, it's told from several different points of view and it does end in a HEA. There is more yet to come, though, and I can't wait to read the Djinn and Tonic!! ~ Paige, 4.5 stars

I love the paranormal genre. This book had me very excited to start. What is a Djinn? Why did this start out as a murder mystery? Right off the bat, I was intrigued. Also, being a former Metro Detroit girl myself, this was fun to go back "home" with the characters.
Miriam is such a weak shell of a woman. It was painful to see her life play out and know she felt so hopeless and accepting of a miserable life. This book does have a lot of domestic abuse, so read beware.
Jack was a sweet protector of a man. I wish we knew more about him though. Gramps was great. All old people are great, come on!
Although I loved the idea of the book, I became frustrated with the development of her powers. Why wasn't anyone screaming, "What the eff??" That being said, there are more books in this series, so I am sure there are answers somewhere....

3.5 Stars from Between the Bind
Jack and Djinn begins with two detectives at a murder scene - an unrecognizably burned body was found in a casino. However, the fire seemed to only burn the victim, not anything around him, leaving the detectives baffled.
We quickly skip back to a few weeks before the incident and meet Miriam, our female protagonist. Miriam has led quite a difficult life. She lost the only positive male figure in her life at the tender age of 11, her mom abandoned her as a teenager, and every man she dates is *eventually* physically abusive.
So when she met Jack, she couldn't have been more surprised and he couldn't have come at a more difficult time in her life. Weird things keep happening and somehow, Miriam believes she's responsible for them.
The story develops over a course of a few weeks, jumping from the past to the present and then meshing together at the end. I thought Ms. Sweetapple did a wonderful job jumping back and forth between past and present. It was actually one of my favorite parts of the book.
Although I enjoyed the writing style, I really didn't connect with Miriam. She was much to weak of a character for me to relate to. I was extremely frustrated with her relationship with Ben, but not in a good way. I've read several books with broken characters but Miriam wasn't broken enough for me to feel sorry for and she wasn't strong enough for me to respect. She just walked the muddy middle road. However, she did begin to grow on me and by the end of the book I enjoyed her much more, it just took a long while.
Jack was a great character - although again, not relatable. He got stronger with each page turn and I truly enjoyed his real-life moments. I would say the character who made the most sense was Ben, our villan. Ben was completely hate-able and I enjoyed every minute of hating on him!
I gave this book 3.5 stars because even with the above issues, I really saw Ms. Sweetwater grow throughout this book, creating a unique plot with difficulties that truly affect the reader. I just hope that the characters in the second installment grip me a bit tighter.

Jack and Djinn
A paranormal murder mystery!! The story starts with a murder at the MGM Casino in Detroit. I thought this was really cool since I live within driving distance of this area. The 2 detectives come onto a burned body. It is strange because it is burned, almost cremated yet nothing around it is burned. No signs of trauma, nothing. The author has 2 stories going together. One investigating the murder and the other leading up to the murder. They intersect in the end. Miriam is a young girl with a troubled past. Ben is her current boyfriend. Ben is abusive both physically, mentally and emotionally. Finally one day he beats her, almost to death and leaves her in a park. Jack stumbles on her and saves her. He knows she is different and is extremely attracted to her but doesn't under stand why. Jack also understands than if she stays with Ben he will kill her. So on one hand the story continues with Ben, Miriam and Jack...leading to the murder. On the other, the cops are trying to figure out how it happened. The author has well developed characters and you hate the villain and fall in LOVE with the hero. As the story unfolds you realize that there is more to the situation than what anyone can imagine.

2015 tbr challenge
2.5 stars
*insta love - they know each other for three hours before they speak of wanting nothing more than "to be together".
*no real consistency in her powers
*her powers magically manifest after years of being dormant when there is no actual change around. What made them burst? It would've made more sense if she had met Jack before it started, because then there would be an actual trigger instead of this rather convenient sudden manifestation...
*CALL THE EFFING COPS! I know this part is real, and battered women rarely call the police, but from a certain point (after she'd already had Jack, and she fought and refused Ben a few times, showing she wasn't afraid to fight against him), I was so frustrated with how she didn't involve the cops and put the bastard in jail.
*Also, a surprisingly really boring interpretation of Jinns. I mean, her powers weren't even close to being an important part of the story. They were there to create some conflict, to make it possible for Jack to find her in an impossible situation, and then *snap* and she can control them.
*Oh, and why was no one suitably FREAKED OUT by said powers?? they were all way too easily accepting...
And more small things....

The price was the only good thing about this book. (It was free).
Miriam is dating an abusive a-hole named Ben. I have no idea why she puts up with him. She has a job, she has her own place, and she's beautiful so it's not like she's dependent on him and can't get away easily. She never calls the police and she prefers the nights when he just uses her to get off and goes to sleep. What a way to live.
But then strange things start happening. Ben starts to get things he wishes for (new phone, new car) and their first assumption is that Miriam is subconsciously granting his wishes (Huh? That's your first assumption?) and then Miriam begins to catch fire. We never learn what the catalyst was for her to get these powers and nobody finds it odd.
One night when Ben is beating up Miriam in a parking lot a sexy guy named Jack comes to her defense. Instead of taking her to the hospital or the police station he wants to take her out. Their first date is meeting his family. Oh brother.
I started skimming at this point. It was all too ridiculous. I can't believe Jasinda Wilder wrote this. It was so, so bad.

I have to admit that the beginning of this one threw me off so much that I didn't get beyond the first couple of chapters.
And it's not because the writing was poor, or that the characters were believable, in some ways they were too believable. And that was the problem. Because this book starts out chronicling Miriams' abusive relationship with her boyfriend. And it was hard to read. Even when the magical stuff started happening, it was a bit hard to believe.
Jack swoops in on a motorcycle and sweeps Miriam off her feet just in the nick of time to save her....but then her instalove for him (not my favoritest trope) also turned me off a bit.
So didn't get far. I'd try another Jasinda Wilder book as long as the plot didn't involve abuse, I think.

Writing reviews about a paranormal romance book is often difficult. You can’t mention a lot of things so you don’t give spoilers. You can’t explain the mythology thoroughly, because it also becomes a spoiler. PNR has to be savored page by page; it has to be unveiled slowly and at the right pace and most importantly anything goes. This book has the most severe pet-peeve of mine: Insta-Love. But, the only genre I allow myself to overlook it is PNR.
Having said all of the above, this review is for you to have a hint about what to expect and, understand my rating and why I recommend it.
This story centers on Miriam, a woman suffering constant abuse by her boyfriend’s hand. A woman who is lost in a relationship based on fear, regret and misery. She want’s more out of life, she wants to be worthy of love, but she is incapable of detaching herself from the pattern; from her self-imposed prison as a battered woman. Miriam’s strong emotions are triggering something inside her. She has no idea that her life is about to change dramatically; she has no idea what she is capable of.
Jack is a sweet, caring man from a quirky Irish family. He is special, but he doesn’t believe it much. He meets/saves Miriam and forms an immediate connection with her; he fights to be with her, he shows her that love is real and not all men are the same. They need each other, they fit together, because their own souls recognize the rightness.
As the story unravels, Miriam and Jack discover the true meaning behind their gifts, all the while finding transcendent love. After defeating and defending themselves from the ugliness of life.
The mythology behind this story is that of the Djinn (Genies). This was a new genre of paranormal for me, since I’ve never read something based on it. It was awesome! Jasinda nailed it from the first page to the last; the explanations, the way everything unravels is quite clever. The writing is superb, it’s poetic and lyrical when describing the supernatural events; the reader is able to imagine everything clearly, the pictures, every description conjured by the mind is just!!! Perfect!!!!
The supporting characters and the roles each will play in further books is hinted smoothly. There is much to tell I am sure, and I believe the story will get every bit as interesting as I imagine. I particularly loved Carson.
I can’t wait for the next installment, that first chapter in the end is just cruel… I can see the wind element coming….
Totally recommend even if you are not a fan of paranormal.

There is no shortage of love for Jasinda Wilder here or on my blog. Time after time, I pick up one of her books and she pulls me in. “Just one more chapter” turns into five more chapters and I just can’t stop. So when I heard about the The Houri Legends series, I was intrigued. As I started reading the book, I was expecting one thing, but when I finished, I was left blown away.
When we first meet Miriam, she has some issues within her life. She has a history of abusive relationships and her current boyfriend Ben is no different. Though as each day goes by, the reader wants her to get away from him, but she can’t. In a way, she is trapped as many women in this situation are. Then she meets Jack. He rides in and gets between Ben and Miriam one night. He is everything that Ben isn’t. He is kind, caring, and genuinely wants to help. As the two get to know one another, their relationship grows and Miriam realizes that she needs Jack in her life and he needs her.
You make my wish come true: my heart’s desire is YOU. My only wish has always been for you, just you. The magic can’t give me something I already have.
To add a little something extra, Miriam is dealing with the fact that she is fire. Not on fire...but actually an elemental Djinn that can harness and use fire. She never knew what she was, but it appears that after years of having her magic bottled up, now is the time that she is discovering who she is. Fearful at first, she tries to understand what she is. With the help of a new friend, Nadira, and Jack she beings to put the pieces together of her Djinn life.
Will these two be able to overcome Ben’s rage, a police investigation, and Miriam’s new powers? You will just have to see.

The story in this book is beyond what I thought I would get. Sure, there are the paranormal and romance elements as well as the captivating story that we have come to love about the author’s books. However, this story has something more. It dealt with an issue that many women face in this country. Abuse. Jasinda put it all out there on page. She gave Miriam a voice that is so honest and real that you not only feel for her, but start to think about the issue on a larger scale. The writing not only elevates the story, but it allows the reader to understand the characters and their decisions. This book is one that you will not want to miss out on.

Jack and Miriam...
I've read loads of paranormal books before, but never about a Djinni...
Actually thought it was a "genie" in a lamp...rub the lamp...and your three wishes would be granted... Which it sorta was...but not!?
Personally I would've played around with this concept, as the idea is genius!!
It was strange how Jack just accepted who she was...glowing ball of fire girlfriend with healing abilities...and she healed him a lot through the story...
Luckily in the end, the story came together...
Overall the plot was interesting enough, so I'll be moving on to the next book in the series....Djinn and Tonic!

Jasinda Wilder proves once again that she is great at tackling varied topics in her books. Jack and Djinn is a eclectic mix of suspense, paranormal, and the heart-breaking realities of romance. I devoured this book in one sitting.
The heroine Miriam is in a very dangerous situation. She seems to find herself in one bad relationship after another. But like many abusive relationships, she is unable to find a safe way to leave her volatile, complete jerk off of a boyfriend Ben. I found Miriam's character strong, despite my inability to understand why she couldn't leave him. But as I got deeper into the story, Jasinda crafts a plot and back story for Miriam, helping me understand why this happened to her. My heart broke for her, but grew to admire her inner strength and her protective streak. There are some key scenes where Miriam put her life on the line for people she barely knows. I admire that a lot in a heroine.
The hero Jack literally saves Miriam's life after being attacked by Ben. He's just so swoony! He works as a mechanic but is an artist on the side. His determination to help Miriam is noteworthy because he goes through hell for her. We're introduced to Jack's huge Irish family. They're hilarious, loyal, and definitely surly. Jack's grandfather Sean is a standout secondary character. He's funny, straight-forward, and charming.
Jasinda does a fabulous job of weaving in suspense, the paranormal aspects of the Djinn, the ugly real life brutality of domestic abuse, and romance in this book. I'm thoroughly impressed. I'm a huge romantic suspense reader and she did a great job of keeping me on the edge of my seat. I also loved the fact that this is an inter-racial relationship. This adds another compelling element to the romance between Miriam and Jack. They are so very different, yet they have bonds that cannot be explained so easily.
In my opinion, Jasinda hits this one out of the Detroit Tiger's Comerica Park! One-click this book! You will not be disappointed.

Book 1- Jack and Djinn
This story revolves around Jack, an mechanic and artist, and Miriam, a woman just realizing that she is more than she ever imagined. Miriam is in an abusive relationship with Ben, a former Marine that served two tours in Afghanistan. The clever part about this book is that it goes back and forth between the past and the present. The present revolves around a homicide detective, Carson, who is investigating the death of a man that was burned to a crisp in a very unusual way, and the past describes Jack and Miriam’s history and what led to the death.
Miriam falls for Jack while in a relationship with Ben, after he saves her one night after Ben beats her up, though she continues to see Ben. She comes off as slightly weak at first, but as her story unfolds you see that she has had a very hard life. As she gets more deeply involved with Jack, Miriam realizes that something is awakening in her, some kind of power she never knew existed, much less had. She eventually realizes that she is half Djinn, a mystical creature that has an element as a power.
This story grabbed me in from the first. I loved watching Miriam come into herself and the romance between Jack and Miriam. It is sweet, sexy, and packed with adventure as Miriam realizes the scope of her powers and comes to terms with the bully Ben. You are also introduced to many other characters that are prominent in the next book, such as Nadira, a water elemental. Ok, I do not think I am even capable of a mini review, lol, so I will make myself stop right here and just tell you that Jack and Djinn is a magical ride full of romance, and adventure. I give it 5 stars for originality and for how smoothly the story flowed.

If you're not a lover of the paranormal genre, I suspect you'll like
Jack and Djinn
anyway. The story was cleverly constructed using two intersecting timelines. Past and present. Two interconnecting stories to unpack, one immersed in the discovery of unknown, ancient magic, the other dissecting fact from fantasy to solve a homicide. In effect, you therefore had one heroine and two Heros, but not in preconceived roles you'd expect.
What I appreciated, as I often do in a Wilder creation, was emotionally intelligent Hero, Jack Byrne. The heroine, Miriam, was joined in her journey of self-actualization, changing from victim to victor, with this wonderful man. I loved when Jack accurately advised her:
Jack and Djinn paced well, was captivating in its intriguing yet fairly predictable plot, had credible character development, and was a light mystery, paranormal romance read. I enjoyed it.
Best of all for me? Secondary characters provided wonderful support and as it is a series, we'll get to hear their stories. I'll be back for Carson's story because I liked him and was hooked by the second book's teaser at the end. Djinn and Tonic. Can't wait.
This wasn't a sizzling sensual feast, but you'll still be humming happily during the sex scenes. Thank you, Mrs Wilder.

Every time I read a Jasinda Wilder book I am physically moved by the words she puts down on the page. There is always so much emotion going into each story-- pain, love, angst, anger..... I find myself wondering about the author and what has motivated her to write with so much emotion. Jack and Djinn is not exception. The book takes on a difficult subject and lays it out there raw and real for the reader to experience. **New readers take heed as there is sensitive material throughout the story.** Thank you for sharing your heart with us Mrs. Wilder!
Things to like about this book: Well Jasinda Wilder, so, duh! I also am a PNR from the get go and can honestly say I have read maybe only one other book with a Djinn in the story. The plot was intriguing and drew me in right away. Jasinda set up the next books in the series with a bit of mystery as to what is really going on in Detroit. But what I really like best about the story was the hero, Jack. He was so into Miriam and wanted to care for her and love her, that it didn't matter to him what she was or what she could do. He accepted her for who she was. He didn't give up on her, ever! There were hints of some Celtic mythology in this book--maybe something to come in later books???

I tell you this with every single fiber in my body, read Jack and Djinn. Do you like mythology? Read Jack and Djinn. Do you like symbolism and strong plots? Read Jack and Djinn. You don't read paranormal books? You don't like characters with powers? Throw out all your preconceived notions and read this book!
Miriam has had a horrid life, including death, abandonment, homelessness, and abuse. She is in a relationship with Ben who sees her more as property than someone she loves. As things to become unbearable for Miriam, she begins to feel a powerful fire in her body. As well, she meets Jack, who just wants to protect her. Miriam is scared of all the things that are going on in her life. From her dangerous relationship with Ben, her growing feelings for Jack, and discovering who and what she is.
What I always love about Jasinda Wilder's books is that there is always something more for you to think about after reading. Fire symbolizes warmth and passion and it can also symbolize pain and death. Jack is the warmth and Ben is the pain, and Miriam's fire reacts accordingly.
Jack and Djinn has something for everyone and it will leave a a fire in you, similar to Miriam's, that you cannot get rid off. Thank God there will be other books to read about djinns..

This was interesting. I think there were two different stories told here; the paranormal aspects and the romance. The romance took center stage and the paranormal aspects were left hanging in the wind.
I read a lot of paranormal romances and it just didn't connect like I wanted it to. The romance side of the book was perfection and I really enjoyed Miriam's story and her journey to really finding out who she was & what she was really made of. But, at the end, I would have liked to know more information about her and her family since djinn is so heavily influenced by genes. I would have thought she would have at least searched out her aunt and asked her more information. It just kind of ended.
Also it felt like two different stories at times. After all the drama was over towards the end, she then finds out whats been going on with her and I just don't think she asked enough questions. I dunno, it felt disconnected to me, I would have liked more information, so we shall see if we meet up with Miriam in the next book....
I give the story and romance a 5

WOW, with a side of fireballs.
Ok, Miriam, is in a shitty relationship. The worst kind. Ben is just a POS after coming home from his tours in Afghanistan. Having only known these kinds of relationships, she deals with it and tells herself this is what she deserves.
One day, a life savior helps her after an ass beating from Ben. And Jack, is perfect. Miriam just knows he is too good for her, and she will never deserve him. But, he doesn't stop trying. The more she is around him, the more angry she gets with Ben, and finally starts sticking up for herself. Which isn't really the best thing, because he continues to just beat her ass to a even bigger pulp.
During this time, she finds something different in herself. Something she has yet to control. And if she doesn't control it, her life and everybody life around her is doomed.
Great read! Very inspirational to women that deal with any kind of abuse from others.

I'm not a huge of fan of paranormal. With that said Jack and Djinn is a must read. I loved how Jasinda Wilder constructed the story by using past and present. I also love how the magic in Miriam was a gradual process. She was discovering who she was as the story progressed, as well as becoming a stronger more confident person.
This story was different from Jasinda's other writings, but I think it just makes it that more special. She could have made this a typical love story...guys saves girl, they fall in love, and live happily ever after. Jasinda takes you on a ride with the suspense and mystery of the storyline. I love the paranormal aspect of this story, I don't think it would have been any better if it weren't.
I would recommend reading this book if you are looking for something a little different from you typical romance books. Can't wait for the other two books. <3

What a pleasant surprize from Jasinda Wilder. When I got Jack and Djinn, I was apprehensive to read a paranormal romance read. Not because I haven't read any before. Actually quite the opposite. I have read so many I think I burned out on PNR. Well this was not any cookie cutter PNR read. It was a fresh new story within the modern world.
Jasinda continues to provide her readers with strong characters that we all love to connect with. In this world or an other, who doesn't want want a hot hero to come and save the day and sweep us off our feet?
And we all have come to expect the women in Jasinda's story to be as strong as Jasinda herself and Miriam proves to be that strength we've come to expect!
Dont miss this refreshing, believable paranormal romance read!
Jasinda continues to provide her readers with strong characters that we all love to connect with. In this world or an other, who doesn't want want a hot hero to come and save the day and sweep us off our feet?

I am not normally a paranormal reader. I have read and enjoyed a few ( Twilight, city of bones series. H.M. Wards vampires ). I'm usually hesitant going into them and I felt the same with this book, but I adore Jasinda's books so I was not going to not read this one.
I enjoyed this book, it had just the right amount of angst, mystery and drama. I really enjoyed this more unusual take on the paranormal. I had never heard of djinn before, so that was interesting. Although I really liked Jack and Miri, I unfortunately did not feel a huge amount of connection like I usually do between the characters in Jasinda's books. I can't explain that. I think their connection was well written, so it may just be me.
If you love paranormal romance you will love this book. If you don't usually, I urge you to give this one a try!!

What a great read, i was completely surprised by this book, i am an avid reader of anything by Jasinda Wilder but was worried about reading paranormal as i haven't read any in about 2 years but it is a must! It kept me captivated and intrigued throughout the whole story which i must say is fairly hard hitting as it does deal with domestic abuse but is dealt with in a good manner.
It is a perfect medley of paranormal, reality and romance which Jasinda writes very well, i loved the connection between Jack and Miriam from the start and envisaged the situations they dealt with as if i was dealing with them myself, Go and give it a read, you wont be disappointed, i cant wait for the next book!

This was a great story! It was such a unique story and aside from the unique paranormal side of it, it gave light to a very serious issue of abuse in many forms and the importance of getting help. I thought it was a very wonderful, unique and interesting story and I can't wait to read the next in the series!

My first love is paranormal romance and not a genre I expected from Mrs. Wilder. All I can say is she nailed it. I started this book and I could not put it down. This story is about overcoming unimaginable things you thought would destroy you, realizing you are worthy and deserve to be loved. It has it all fast paced suspense, drama, magic and most of all love. Jack is my new hero and I love him!! No cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book!!

The story of Jack and Djinn was surreal and unlike anything I've ever read.
I've read everything Mrs. Wilder has ever written and this is definitely outside of her comfort zone and I LOVED it. It just made me love her writing even more. When a writer takes the risk of dabbling in different genres, they earn even more respect from me.
I can't wait to read more of their story!

We were pleasantly surprised with this X-Files meets paranormal romance. There is pain, there is mystery and there is romance all woven together in this page turner. The story is focused on abuse and why as women we tend to stay with someone who causes pain in such a terrible way. Jasinda Wilder paints an engaging story that had us on the edge of our seats, setting up for more stories to come of this series. We are hooked and cooked.
