"One night. Christmas night. It was supposed to release him, yet it hadn't"
Martha Blue. She's the type of a leading lady. A pro football publicist. With her recent party-girl reputation. Martha's only way to protect the image of the Las Vegas Slayers, and to show her parents that she's worthy to be part of the team. She has to shed her past, and absolutely no time to fall in love.

these two had a quite bad start to their relationship in the past, and now that Joaquin is back to Las Vegas to be trained for the biggest fight of his carrier. He can't have another repeat with Martha. But no one can stop the heart...
Ever since their steamy encounter at a party. Martha knew that he always be the one who can give her everything she wants, yet nothing of what she needs. She believes in fairy tales. and Joaquin didn't buy into fairy tale he wasn't equipped to deliver.
But sometimes we need to face some ugly bumps in our path, tell we can reach to our destination. and by that, Joaquin need to face his demons.
"The night I'm outclassed is the night I cease to adapt. The night I fall is the night i fail. When I fail,I stop being worthy of the ring."
They were like Tom&Jerry. one time they are so good to each other, and the attraction was hot as hell. and other times they couldn't stand each other... Though the attraction was always presents between them even if they tried to deny it.
I enjoyed the twists between these two. and their issues felt so real. the intimacy was more teasing, less action. To be honest i had mix feelings toward this book. but who knew that the author could deliver you that twist at the ending!! it was for sure unpredictable. and i have to say that the most certain thing that bugged me in this book. were Martha's parents. My god i loathed them! to the point i fast forward every part they were mentioned. YES that bad.!
All in all. It was an enjoyable read..

Ok. Lisa Marie Perry is now officially on my list of favourite authors!
Just For Christmas Night is a fabulous and SEXY,SEXY,SEXY read!
Martha is the wild child of the Blue dynasty. She's like an enigma wrapped in a riddle. But not all is as it seems. Joaquin, the hero, is a tortured soul. He, like our heroine, has somethig to prove, if only to himself. Their relationship was broken in the past. They must make some difficult choices in the present but make the they will and always on their own terms.
This story has many different layers. The characters are very well written. They are real, they are raw, as are their emotions. I loved them both. I was rooting for them all the way. It was a real trip reading on to see how it would all come to a head.

What I liked about this novel ...
This was the third series of 'The Blue Dynasty' and it was a good read where this one is about Martha Blue who was one of the youngest but not a pushover. So, what she rebellious and just wanted to have a good time? Yes, but was there more to Martha than just that because she was able to have a few secrets of her own from her family. I loved how Martha was a strong women who fought for what she believed in showing how her hard work and determination...well I will stop here and let you read it for yourself.
Now to add to this story there was Joaquin (Las Vegas Prince) who seemed like a 'lost soul' that would leave him wanting to prove something of who he was ...from his past. This is a deep read that you will have to keep up with the read because there will be twist and turns as you read through each of these characters raw emotions. In the end will these two be able to fight for the genuine love that they really have for each other?
I found the characters very well developed, well rounded, well portrayed, colorful and believable giving the reader an excellent read of what all is going on. Martha's mother was really some pill to shallow and I did like the addition of the new character by the name of Avery who became part of Martha's family.
This author was able to really give the reader the description of just what was going on at that time and in the end giving us a well written script that will keep you turning the pages till the end.
I will say to learn more about this series ('The Blue Dynasty) I would suggest you read the first two series first before reading this one, however, "Just For Christmas Night" is a stand alone read. I found "Just For Christmas Night" was one interesting read where you will get a little of it all.... from 'past lust, desire, acceptance, trust to even some new choices' and with saying that I would definitely recommend this novel and just a heads up ....there will be another romance from this author's The Blue Dynasty series, 'Mine Tonight' coming soon!
I was truly under the impression that Danni story would be my favorite because she rocked the media with her stepping down but Martha, Martha, Martha.... There is no place to begin how this story was THE BEST in the series. Lisa took us on a journey of past lust, resentment, desire, trust, acceptance and choices.
In this story many truths were revealed and Tem got the truth told to her by Martha. Being label a wreckless person to their "brand" did not do anything but make her fight harder to show she was invested. With so many things in the balance and so much unfinished emotions for Las Vegas Prince, Marsha played the hand she was dealt with skill and finesse.
There are twist and turns. Tears and new character plots but the joy of it all is that Avery has a "family" and will be a big sister soon because in the ring there is no bullshit, no lies. Sometimes doing things out of order brings balance and peace to being an individual. No more hiding Tem because your girls are grown with lives that makes them happy. Manipulation can only go so far when it starts slapping you in the face.
Alias become enemies and secrets are revealed... Stay tuned there is a book 4. I can't wait.
Tonight I'm reviewing Just for Christmas Night by author Lisa Marie Perry. A couple of months back I reviewed Midnight Play, book #2 in the The Blue Dynasty Series by Lisa Marie Perry. Ms. Perry was a new-to-me author at the time and I really enjoyed Midnight Play quite a bit. My goal was to read book #1 in the series, but unfortunately my reading schedule never quite made it around to it. I've since had the opportunity to catch Just for Christmas Night, the latest in the series, and it reminded me just how much I enjoyed reading this author's work. In fact, I enjoyed it even more than book #2!
First things first, let me start by telling you what it's about. Martha Blue is the youngest of the three Blue daughters. If you read the other books, you'll remember that Martha has always been a bit of a free spirit. She has a party girl reputation that is an embarrassment to her extremely professional, conservative, and dare I say snobbish parents. They can't risk Blue's seemingly reckless behavior bringing negative attention to their football team, which has already suffered (and continues to) its fair share of scandal. They recruit the help of a close family friend to keep her busy and scandal free. The friend is professional boxer Joaquin Ryder. He's back in his hometown of Las Vegas for an upcoming fight. His preference was to avoid Blue while back in Las Vegas due to their history. Unbeknownst to her parents Joaquin and Blue have a secret attraction that once revealed years ago, didn't play out well. There was rejection and feelings were hurt. Both Joaquin and Blue still harbor emotions for one another, and things get complicated. Joaquin doesn't think that he's good enough, and Blue isn't the unfocused wild child that her parents assume.
What I like: This should be the "What I Love" section of my review, because do I ever love the Blue family. Blue's parents are a true nightmare. They are so wealthy, snobby, and controlling. They've tried to control their daughters and seem to care only about the football team. What's to love about that? Beneath the snobbery and self-centered behavior there is a couple that is still crazy in love with one another. There are glimpses of this really deep love that feels so real. These glimpses are really quite beautiful and it adds depth to this power couple. They are more than what they seem with their children as well. While they come off cold to their kids, I get the feeling that they don't see how their behavior is affecting them. They're so busy making money and building a dynasty for their kids that the dynasty and their name has become everything. I would actually love to read a story about Mamma and Papa Blue (*hint, hint*)
Martha is a well written character that has layers. She isn't quite the selfish party girl that one might believe (or that her family thoroughly believes). The problem is she's let them think what they want to about her, and while she's no angel, she's hardly the the thoughtless brat that everyone seems to believe. In fact, she wants what's best for the football team. She's even secretly taking steps so that she'll be more qualified for a hands-on role in the company. I also like that her feelings for Joaquin comes across as very genuine. She's in love with this man, but he's made it clear what he's capable of giving, or rather not giving, her. Joaquin loves her just as much. Unfortunately he has trust issues and a problem with the whole notion of love. Because of that, it takes him a bit to accept his feelings. I like that Martha was his flame, and like a moth he was continuously drawn to her. The relationships in general are all very well-written, and it gives this story so much life.
If there has to be a problem with Just for Christmas, I would say that I wasn't the biggest fan of the ending. I won't say why for those of you haven't read the book, but it left me slightly unfulfilled. Obviously not enough that I would give this book a bad score. Despite the bit of disappointment that I felt at where it ends, I'm still giving this 5 out of 5 rating. It was so enjoyable that I'd read it again. I'm not a huge sports romance fan, but this series and the Blue family work for me. I strongly recommend it, you won't be disappointed (although darn it I wanted just a little more at the end!) I'm off to read Night Games!
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and an honest review*
Not having read the previous books in this series I had no idea what to expect, but as it's a sports-themed romance I was drawn to it from the very start and it can definitely be read on its own. From start to finish Ms. Perry gave us a compelling and admirable heroine, a conflicted hero, lots of intensely emotional twists and turns as well as family issues galore. This read has definitely earned its place amongst all the other books in this popular genre and I look forward to more.
Martha is seen as an irresponsible party girl but beneath that facade is a woman determined to prove herself. She's a strong-willed woman who tells it like it is and with parents who cut their children down at every turn as master manipulators, she'll need that attitude. As she wants a bigger role in the family business though she'll play her parent's game, but in the end she'll hopefully get everything she wants. After setting eyes again on prize fighter Joaquin it's clear what one of the things she wants is.....lots more steamy sexual encounters with him. Their previous encounter may have ended badly but she's just as drawn to him now as she was four years ago and their reunion ends up being a torrid and chaotic journey to HEA.
Joaquin is a man full of determination. He has his eyes on the prize and is focused on fighting. The distraction of Martha is one he doesn't need, but he sure does want her against his better judgement. After getting burned by his ex he's sworn off women, but Martha is too tempting and leads to a relationship full of sexual tension and a sexual battle of wills. I loved Joaquin and his intensity. His intensity practically leapt off the page in fact. He's sexy too and his emotional and physical strength calls to you. Together, he and Martha are electric and I enjoyed seeing their constant push and pull.
The sports world is on vivid display throughout this story and the battles in the ring are in perfect harmony with the battles outside the ring. Joaquin and Martha are an engaging couple with enjoyable and crackling dialogue in a relationship teeming with sexual tension. Martha is a woman worth cheering for as she stood up to her parents in an emotionally powerful scene which makes her the highlight of this story. In contrast is her parents, who are truly nasty and who I hated having precious time wasted on. Their scenes left me frustrated. Thankfully the rest of the story was a winning journey with its nice pace, enticing sensuality, and admirable main characters. Ms. Perry has ultimately crafted an exciting and emotionally engaging story that has me invested in what came before and what comes next in this series.
Taciturn seriousness is the façade controlling undefeated boxer Joaquin Ryder life as he prepares for his next fight, until a promise to a family friend tests his fortitude. Vivacious Pro NFL publicist Martha Blue is a temptation for any man, and now Joaquin is tasked with ensuring her scandalous behavior does not jeopardize her family’s business. Martha is working on shedding her irresponsible party girl image which is now in jeopardy of being sidetracked by the nearness of Joaquin. As their witty catch-and-release bantering does little to relieve their hungry sexual tension from their unresolved past, the couple agree to surrender to their passions for one night. Will their heads or their hearts win this fight?
Perry has solidified her reputation as a writer of edgy heartfelt romances as she dazzles readers with multi-layered characters and a passion-driven plot in this amazing story. Martha is a strong heroine who grows into her strength and takes control of her life. There is more to Martha than meets the eye as we learn of her academic accomplishments, her willingness to give of herself to others and relish in her sensuality with the right man. Joaquin’s hard scrapple childhood and his caution of women have formed him into a driven determined man, often putting his emotions aside to be honorable and trustworthy. Joaquin struggles to keep control and has to work through his guilt of wanting Martha as his woman. The highly sensual sex scenes have enough heat and tension to ignite the pages. And who does not love an alpha hero who is both dangerous and desirable in every breath he takes.
While the Las Vegas setting adds glitz and glamour, it is the secondary storylines that adds unanticipated twists and turns to not only showcase the characters but provides the extra layer of fullness and richness to this emotional romance storyline. The appearances of the Blue family members will satisfy readers of the series and add the necessary continuity to the insight of their family dynamics.
JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT is the third book in the Blue Dynasty series. This book grabs the reader from the first page so be prepared to finish the book in one sitting. I highly recommend this book for its powerful writing, exquisite exploration of self, the sumptuous sensuality that is stunning and heart-melting as Martha and Joaquin find their happily-ever-after.
I’m on the fence about the whole “sport themed’ romance, but a nice twist here is less sport and more character, and I was intrigued and engaged early on. I’ve not read the earlier books in this series, so I came at this with a fresh perspective and having heard good things about the previous titles, curiosity.
From the start I liked Martha – the changes she was making as she grew up and started to take pride in her career and life, and her determination to do ‘the right thing’ no matter how many obstacles were thrown into her path. Even more impressive was the ‘reality’ portrayed – this was NEVER going to be an ‘easy’ job, and being a woman in a male-dominated sport where testosterone both rules and drools, Martha was aware that she was starting at a disadvantage with a long road ahead. A disadvantage that she quickly turned to her own advantages in using her perceived weaknesses to surprise and perform her job, showing everyone that her position was deserved and not gifted by Daddy.
Joaquin was interesting – curiously still attracted to Martha but very determined to make a name for himself in boxing. He does, however, know the struggle that Martha was going through in proving herself to her parents, and their attitudes about her party girl behavior, and not being able to let go of those judgments. He believes that his reappearance in Martha’s life will reinforce her parents’ negative image, so he will fight the attraction and let her make the moves.
Heavily character driven, there is growth and interference from all sides in this one. While I appreciated the ‘family’ aspect, it was overbearing and overly judgmental where Martha was concerned, she was proving her talent and worth. And there was a nice growth trajectory with both Martha and Joaquin and the relationship between them, as well as some changes, that felt almost grudging, for the Blues themselves.
An interesting and engaging read offering multiple perspectives on fighting for what you really want in your career and your life.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
WOW I just finish reading this book, and I have to say that I love it, I love the characters, and how the book turn out to be, I have to say that I couldn't put the book down once I stated reading it, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
The story begging with Joaquin, Joaquin is a professional boxer, his on the ring training when he see who show up at the gym, Marshall Blue and his daughter Martha, it's the first time in four years that he see Martha, and his feeling tower her have not change at all, Martha still have feelings for Joaquin, but she pretend not to have them, she is working with her dad but that's not enough she have something to prove to her parents, but her parents only seen her as the party girl, the wild child, but underneath it all what she really is doing is focusing at work go home, help with tutoring at the faith house, but at the same time trying to get with Joaquin, and Joaquin is focusing at his up coming fight training hard, and fighting the feelings that he have for Marta, would they end up proving what they need to prove, or would they fight for the love that they have for each other.
I love how Joaquin and Martha are with each other, I love Martha attitude love It how she don't take crap from no one, and love it that she goes for what she want, I love the way how Joaquin is with her, love how he begging to trust her love it how he is their when she needs him, I love the banter that they have when they together, and the flirting and the make out section love those part.
I really love and enjoy reading this book, now I cant wait to read the next one, Author Lisa Marie Perry THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome characters and this amazing book love it.
My current reading indulgence is Christmas themed romances and this sexy story by Lisa Marie Perry definitely hits the spot! I've read Just For Christmas Night as a standalone novel.
Martha is the epitome of the kind of heroine I love to read about. She's strong, determined, independent, but has a rebellious streak too. Underneath the surface, we see that there is much more to Martha than meets the eye. The party-girl reputation castes a shadow over her pro-football publicist job with the Las Vegas Slayers, which Martha uses to her advantage. She's secretly studying for an MBA. One day she hopes to prove to her parents that she is more than capable of taking on a more high profile position within the family business – with a lot of persuasion.
Joaquin, is from the wrong side of town, rescued by his Uncle and raised to become America's undefeated super middleweight boxing champion. He's back in Las Vegas for his next fight, the NFC championship match-up. He didn't expect four year old unresolved feelings for Martha Blue to resurface when he returned “home” from Miami. He's swore off women after his gold-digging ex-fiancée tried to trick him into getting pregnant – aiming to secure a large financial settlement. As a prizefighter and shrewd business investor he's solely focus is on winning, not women.
When Martha and Joaquin are together it's like electrical ping-pong. Both wanting so much, but not willing to give more than the minimum - Devon prepares for his fight with Eliáš Brazda and Martha is standing up to her self-righteous parents, whilst rescuing a teenager and becoming her foster mom.
In the end, these multi-faceted lovers find their HEA on their own terms. Proving there is more to them as individuals and also as a couple than the gossip that surrounds them.
Disclosure: I received an ARC in return for a fair and honest review.
I've been waiting for this book, because Martha Blue was my favourite of the Blue sisters even when she was just appearing as a background character in her sisters' stories. Raised by powerful determined parents (the mother is downright manipulative), she was the most rebellious, unconcerned with the family brand and with "image" and bent on having a good time.
Including, and ths is one of my reasons for loving this book, a good time with men. Martha doesn't do "dating" but she does do "sex," and I love non-virgin heroines who own who they are. The author doesn't do any cop-outs, either: Martha isn't secretly a virgin, or a virgin-to-one-particular-sex-act. When sex with the hero is special, it's special because of Martha's emotions about Joaquin, not because of any "this is the first time I've ever done X" thing.
Also, party-girl Martha has been keeping a few secrets from her family, and they're in the opposite direction from her mother's expectations. She's been building her education and is more determined to manage her family's brand--and more capable of doing so--than anyone has given her credit for. I loved it.
The only aspect I didn't love is that she rescues a foster child, and I have an aversion to children popping up in romances when I'm not braced for them. But to be fair, her foster daughter isn't an ordinary plot moppet, so there was no overdose of sweetness, just some reasonable compassion. So it worked better than most "suddenly, a child appears" subplots for me.
I received an ARC from Lisa Marie Perry to read and review.
Just For Christmas Night, the third installment in the Blue Dynasty series was great.
Martha Blue's story has been the one that I have been waiting to read and Lisa Marie Perry did not disappoint.
Martha Blue, the youngest and publicist for her family's pro football was one tough cookie. Although she was pegged the ultimate party girl, she never backed down from a challenge.
Joaquin "Sinner" Ryder, a prizefighter, has returned to Las Vegas to defend his boxing title. His biggest distraction is Martha Blue, a woman he shares a past with and has loved from afar.
You will truly love the chemistry and compassion displayed by this couple. Will Joaquin be able to tame Martha's wild side? Will Martha and Joaquin's love survive the test of time? You will have to read this story to find out. My favorite book of the series by far.
Thank you Lisa Marie for asking me to read and review your series. A must purchase and recommended read. I'm really looking forward to reading Book 4.
This is the third book from the Blue Dynasty series.
Well, the first half of this book was two stars but the second half was four stars. Thus the three star rating.
This is the story of the third Blue daughter Martha and her friend and eventual lover Joaquin Ryder. Martha is the publicist for the Las Vegas Slayers, the NFL team owned by her parents Marshall and Temprence Blue. Joaquin is a friend of the Blue family and a professional boxer who lives in Miami but will defend his title in a fight in Las Vegas.
The first half of the book is slow and I was disappointed that not much regarding the NFL team or the Blue family was being told. Just a lot of unsure romance regarding Martha and Joaquin's relationship. The second half of the book had a lot of big things happen to Martha, Joaquin, Marshall, foster child Avery and the NFL franchise.
Plow through the first half because the second half makes it worthwhile. Since most of you are reading it for the romance stuff you might even enjoy that part too.
Night Games introduced me to the Blue Dynamics and Charlette Blue and Nate. Midnight Play brings Danica Blue to the fore front and Dex. Just for Christmas brings me Martha Blue and the best offering of the three from the ‘Blue Dynasty’. Martha is strong, witty, complex, and a bit of a party girl (so that is what everyone thinks). She has much to prove to show that she is so much more.
Perry gives a beautiful offering in creating this Blue girl’s story. Joaquin is so much more than he appears to be on the outside. His life is filled with many complications with family/career/choice. Martha makes things all worth it. The Blue family patriarch and matriarch are still (to me) azzes with selfish intentions. They work hard to make #1 the currency that revolves around their lives and that of their children.
Looking forward to ‘Mine Tonight’ and more Santino.
Thanks, Lisa Marie Perry & NetGalley. This is my honest review of this book as I see it.
I loved this story as much as I loved the two previous! Lisa Marie Perry has done it again! I’m on the fence about to jump over and say that this is my favourite so far in this series. Again, another strong woman, doing what she does best and fighting for what she believes in is a must! I loved reading about how Martha’s hard work and determination came out on top, just like it should! I also like how again, it shows real life situations and things that can actually happen in real life and the things that people do to move forward! I just kept wanting more and more even when I HAD to put the book down because life beckoned as it sometimes does but at the same time, I feel like I read it too fast and that it was over too quickly! I continue to look forward to reading more of Lisa Marie Perry’s books and I recommend the Blue Dynasty books to everyone!
Martha is a publicist for the Slayers and mistakenly has the reputation as a party girl. A reputation that could cost her the job she loves even if her daddy owns the team. She reconnects with fighter Joaquin who lets her know that in fact her daddy is the one looking to fire her. But that isn't all he shares with her. They have a history together that broke Martha yet she is still very attracted to him. Joaquin admits to wanting her as well so they share some moments together trying to fool themselves that it's only a physical thing for both of them. They will have to stop fighting their feelings and start fighting for each other.
I so loved Martha. She feisty and bold and knows exactly what she wants. I loved watching her go after her man. I so enjoyed their story.
Edgy, shadowy tone in this novel pulls you right into the storyline, and keeps the hold. Both Joaquin and Martha want to prove something with their lives, and are willing to go for it. Joaquin is a true alpha male, who hold on to the promises made, loyalty, and integrity. Martha has an attitude, that is aggressive and forward. She knows what she wants, her goals are determinate, and she is willing to take a reputation to achieve them, even if in secrecy. Together they are hot, sensual, and intense. Their feelings for each other are raw, true, and passionate. There are many layers to the story, and the Blue family keeps you on your toes. The parents are dominant, at times seemingly running over their children with presumptions and judgement. The surprises, and turns in the plot are intriguing. Engaging and fascinating story ~ Four Spoons
They must make some difficult choices in the present but make them they will and always on their own terms.

Lisa Marie has a fabulous writing style. It is modern, flows easily and is a pleasure to read.
A truly wonderful, very enjoyable read. Highly recommended!
This book was absolutely AMAZING and I LOVED it!! Martha and Joaquin's story was OMG great! Two souls trying to fight the sparks that flare every time they're in each other's presence and man do they have sparks. Martha's trying to prove to her parents/bosses that she's not the flighty party girl they think her to be and Joaquin's fighting to not be who/what he was born into. The sparks and passion between these two could be felt in the pages. I could not put this book down and had a little tear at the end because I didn't want it to end ..LOL .. Ms Lisa, you rocked with this one and I can't wait to read the next Blue Dynasty book. If you have not read the previous 2 books to the Blue Dynasty, please go get them .. you won't be disappointed!
I liked this Blue Dynasty book. I really enjoyed Martha and Joaquin together. I also liked getting glimpses of her sisters so I felt updated and in touch with their lives as well. The Blue parents were a central part of this novel and I like how in love they remain and how integral a part of their lives family continues to be in their business. I hope we get updates on Avery and other situations in the upcoming 4th novel in the series. I look forward to it coming out.
Omg! This book was excellent from start to finish. After reading Martha and Joaquin's love story, I'm a true believer that "age ain't nothin' but a number!!!" Although Martha was 23 compared to Joaquin's 33, she was able to put something on him that infatuation had nothing to do with! I thoroughly enjoyed there back and forth banter, and even how they tried to resist and stay away from one another. When true love is in the mix, realization set in and neither one could live without the other! Awesome read!!
I received this book through the Goodreads First-Reads Giveaway.
This is a very steamy love story about two people who grew up together but an incident separated them. Now they are back in each others lives and old flames are rekindled. I really liked the characters, especially Martha. She is a strong, competent woman who doesn't take crap from anyone. She is more than beats the eye and has her eye on Juaquin.
I want to thank the author for giving me the chance to read this book! I won this wonderful book on good reads! I loved the characters Martha and Joaquin! Martha is known as being a party girl but really but she has great ambitions for life that no one knows about. Then walks back into her life her lost love and her life heats up. This was a hot and fun book to read.
I Love the Blue Dynasty series. Each time I read one it makes me intrigued. I wonder what's going to happen next. I Love the characters and all of their craziness. I would definitely recommend this book.
Won this is a goodreads giveaway. While I enjoyed it, I also found it to be a little slow paced. I think that most people who enjoy holiday romances will enjoy reading this book!
