The Blackout!: And Other Tales From Around The House

Rate this book
The Blackout! And Other Tales From Around The House is for anyone who has walked into a plumbing disaster at home and walked away with a good story to tell. Filled with humor, spirit, and the occasional obscure cultural reference, these nine stories make for a fast, fun read for anyone who can relate to minor mayhem at home.

"The Blackout! And Other Tales From Around The House is a compilation of laugh-out-loud stories based on family mishaps and the musings of a stay-at-home dad. I could easily visualize my own husband in every one of these frustrating, yet hilarious, domestic scenarios that Mr. Bryson shares with his readers. His sharp wit and rapid fire one-liners in stories such as "The Backup", "A Fridge Too Far" and "The Grind", will tickle your funny bone and keep you laughing for days." - Marcia Kester Doyle, Author and contributor to The Huffington Post, featured writer at In The Powder Room, and personality behind her popular web site Menopausal Mother.

A friend of mine, unbeknownst to me, wrote a book. Then he unleashed it upon the world one dark and dreary day. And it was good. Until the price of his friendship was the exact cost of his newly published book which also included a demand for a review. Weighing the hefty dollar amount versus his friendship, I decided that the pocket change and hours spent producing a review would be insanely cheaper than the years spent listening to him complain about what a horrible human being I am. I get that enough from the kid and the dog.

I sat down and read his book, which is a collection of stories that are as humorous as they are fast to read. He shared happy mishaps that any parent can relate to; from being locked out of the house, to entertaining a child during a black out. All told from the point of view of a stay-at-home dad living in the barely tamed wilds of Wisconsin. Bryson’s writing style is witty and entertaining. Why he’s not famous yet is a mystery for the ages.
