This preschool book teaches counting 0 to 10 and 10 to 0. By adding a new character each time, the concepts of addition and subtraction are introduced. In this sequel to Take the Dog Out, the little white dog Coco is joining with his animal and multicultural human friends to teach simple math concepts. The word numbers and the number characters are all done in different colors so the book could also be used to practice colors. As an alternate activity, children could be asked to find and count the dog bones on each page. At the end of the book, the author provides a list of the sight words used in the counting story which can be used as a simple reading lesson for children.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Goodreads!
Great visuals to give context to counting up and down by ones to ten. It also gives context for adding and subracting one. Fun pictures and nice, huge representations of 0-10 using numbers and words.
Numbers!: Take the Dog Out is an exceptionally captivating preschooler book with a beautiful learning experience. With its vibrant illustrations and straightforward text, it skillfully imparts counting, addition, and subtraction delightfully and interactively. Moreover, the book introduces essential vocabulary, enriching children's language skills.
Following Coco and her friends on their thrilling adventures, Numbers!: Take the Dog Out seamlessly integrates math concepts into the narrative. The book strikes a perfect balance between being well-written and educational, ensuring it remains accessible and enjoyable for young minds. Its length and complexity are carefully crafted to align with the target audience, making it an excellent choice for children fond of dogs and numbers.
While Numbers!: Take the Dog Out is undeniably a fantastic book, I believe there are areas where it could be further enhanced. Providing additional activities at the end of the book to reinforce the concepts covered would be valuable for supporting learning.
Despite these minor suggestions, Numbers!: Take the Dog Out remains a delightful book that I wholeheartedly recommend to parents and teachers of young children. This book instils a love for numbers while ensuring an enjoyable reading experience by combining captivating storytelling, delightful illustrations, and a practical teaching approach. Its engaging content and educational value make it a valuable addition to any child's library.
This great book is all about numbers 1-10 and 10-1. There is simple addition and subtraction with picture clues. There are hidden bones to find and count. The number three is on the page along with the word. Next. 2 + 1 = 3. With picture clues. Another page has 2 - 1 = 1 with picture clues to help. This is made for ages 3-5. For these guys. Having them trace the word and the numbers will help them learn and it can be made fun to do.I I borrowed this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
I I liked the idea and illustrations that there were. but from about two till your turned the pages to say about six or Severn all I the reader could see was a red camera and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in the center of the triangle, see ? This is why I felt too that I could only give this ebook a rating of a three stars. I recommend first that the author fix this problems , number one and then it could be recommend for the fiery young children just leaning to count from one to ten and backwards. I received this ebook for free and n exchange now that I have read what there was to see and read I feel that I have given this particular ebook an honest review. Good job Lynne. Any Angela L.
Synopsis:"Help Coco and her neighborhood friends count from zero to ten and back down to zero. Along the way, add, subtract, and count the dog bones."
My Review: This was a free download from amazon ages ago and I am finally getting around to reading it. It was a little above Munchkin's level but it is a great way to introduce simple addition and subtraction equations. Even though he wasn't ready for that, he still really enjoyed the pictures and the simple counting that can be used as well.
I feel this is a good book. It can be used for teaching addition/subtraction skills as many have said. Being a retired Speech Pathologist, I see the book being used for language development, too. One aspect is saying complete sentences. An example, using the animal's color ("the dog is white." rather than "white." I had trouble finding the squirrel so sentences could be made about him. All in all, I find this book a cute one to share with kids.
Directions tell the reader to count the dog bones as well as the creatures (animals and people) in each picture. The pictures are colorful as are the numerals before each picture but the dog bones are all white and with the white background would be difficult for pre-schoolers to find on the page.
This is a wonderful book for young children. It not only teaches them to count from zero to ten, but it also teaches them the basics of addition and subtraction. I loved the simple pictures and simple phrases. There is a word bank at the end so you can practice with your children. Simple is usually best for the youngest child. I'll recommend this to my daughter for her youngest.
I like the concept of the book. I gave it four stars because the pages were incongruous. I think a few pages are missing. If the "camera" pages are replaced with the proper pages, I will revise my review.
Cute version of the original with none of the problems of the original. This one I would use with younger children like in Kindergarten learning their 1-10 math.
Skip this one! It's totally stupid and not really much of a book. 1+1=2, 2+1=3,... This is the extent of the book. Until 10. And then backwards. Stupid.
A good number counting book. Some pages had an error (see comments). I liked the added part of finding and counting the dog bones. The last page was odd.
A fun early reader/preschooler picture book that teaches counting on/back 0-10 and 10-0 and introduces basic addition and subtraction. The pictures tell the story well along with very basic text.
