This could have been such a good book......but the last quarter completely ruined the story! The main male character is asinine....and our heroine is not anything she has been built up to be from the beginning.....she ends up being a dolt and just another mindlessly stupid female. I so wish one of these romance novels would show a truly storylines woman who, after losing her virginity to the rake, would tell him to bugger off after he has hurt her. Don't bother reading this one.
A very convoluted suspense, steamy romance. Kat meets Morgan on the docks when he saves her from two brutish men. But then his men kidnap her and the madcap intrigue rises to a fever pitch. She wants to marry only for love; he’s determined never to risk his heart. But neither anticipated the overwhelming nature of true love.
Kat is desperate to find her brother. She puts herself in danger by going to the docks at night. Two ruffins, accost, her. And she,s saved by a nobleman named Morgan, only to be kidnapped by his men. A case of mistaken Identity. This fast paced love story will steal your heart. Thank you ♥️
Morgan and Katherine show their intense love for each other in this very well written Sensual Romance. The characters are strong and display their individual personalities in this story. Fabulous start to the series.
Engaging characters in a witty and sexy historical romance, with some scenes of peril. Can be read as a standalone. I stayed up until the early hours to see how it finished.
Starts well, but slowly loses its compulsion. Heroine goes from strong and feisty to a typical Victorian weepy and vaporous miss. Jumps into his arms with little conversation and explanation. Pity, as it was fairly entertaining otherwise. I’d like to know Stephen’s story.
Rather disappointing, the author teased with plots that come to nothing and leave one confused but she thinks that readers want 40 to 50 pages of smut !
What a wild romance! So much action and craziness, how was a proper lady to survive. Their characters are what kept me glued, stubborn but totally smitten.
Once again, Wyatt delivers! This book is one hot, sizzling romance that I just fell openly in love.
Somehow I managed to read the second book of this series first. While I'm not entirely sure how I managed to overlook The Right One I can only be glad that I discovered it as this book has quickly became one of the best romances I have ever had the pleasure of reading!
If I had to pick only one trait about this book that I loved most (and there were many) I would settle on the plot. Brilliant, worthy of a good swoon and was exactly what I was looking for in not only a romance book, but a novel in general as I feel like Wyatt was the author I have long been searching for.
Moving onward to the characters, I fell in love with both Morgan and Elizabeth. Their story started off a little rough but that is to be expected given their introduction. I thought that Elizabeth paired perfectly with Morgan as she was a strong-willed character that even when in fear she was able to stand her own ground. As for Morgan I enjoyed how thick his outer masculinity appeared, but with Elizabeth he seemed somewhat softer to the point that I enjoyed his rugged character that much more.

This story started off good. Lots of interesting things happened. Kept me interested until... towards the end. The heroine was a strong woman in the beginning and then she deflated. It was like reading about two different heroines. One thing I don't like to read about is, when a woman is portrayed in a story as an independent woman, strong headed, spitfire, but has no common sense. As the he story progressed, she seemed to handle the circumstances and not "swoon", that I had to hand it to her. I do have to say, I enjoyed parts of this book but I also skimmed over a few parts that seemed annoying in general. Like when the Hero drank himself into a mind numbing pitiful ass or when the Heroine dwells on her feelings over and over again. Those are the things I didn't care for but I did like some of the secondary characters and some of the servants. Would I recommend this book? Yes, it starts off good and keeps you interested... (If you can handle little annoying parts.) This book was free, so I didn't feel much of a loss.
Actually, I would give it 3.5 stars. There is nothing wrong with the grammar and is pretty well written. My problem is if women read this and think this is what love should be like or even was during the 1800s it is unrealistic. In 1825, which is when the book is set, the actions of Katherine would have probably gotten her killed. It pretty much follows the romance genre: young woman's parents die, brother leaves to go to sea on a ship but is currently missing, she goes to live with her childless aunt and uncle. Decides to go to the London docks, is taken for a prostitute and attacked then rescued by a Lord. Katherine is mistaken for a thief, taken to the manor, falls in love... Heaven help a reader who thinks every time one goes out without thinking that there may be consequences for her actions she will be rescued by a handsome member of the aristocracy.
I just finished this one, first book for me by this author. I couldn't wait til the end to see how she brought about the hero and heroine fighting through their issues. I need to find out more about a couple of the characters and hope future books include them to get their backgrounds and find out why they acted why they did.( Like Giles!) The book started out nicely with the tension between Morgan and Kat, then finished in the same way. I love that Kat was so open and forgiving, yet still keeping her innocent ideals while dealing with Morgan and his issues. The only thing, I think Julianna should have gotten off worse! Loved the book and will be reading more.
Morgan, Lord Whetherford, and Karherine eventually fall in love. Standing in the way of true love is one seductive villain, a case of mistaken identity, abductions, and daring rescues. In short, this book has all the passion and angst that I look for in a historical romance novel.
Kat's brother is missing. When she goes to the docks to talk to another Captain she gets kidnapped. Since the man whose men kidnapped her was hurt in a fight and took several weeks to recuperate she was held prisoner for all that time.
Love this book but missing the clear transition between story sections would get lost and have to go back and re-read to figure out where you are. Going to get the next book and hoping that since its a pay version the transition between the sections will be clear
The plot was wonderful, the encounter was very cleaver. The romance was intense and reminded me of Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. The sex was engaging and yummy. The part I like the most is the plotting to rescue both Stephen and Katherine.
