When armed men invade the Easy Bake and kill the owner, the cook and another waitress, Anna sees her life flash before her eyes.
Jack's on his way back to the Storm Runners' clubhouse when he sees the slaughter, and for a minute he thinks about minding his own business. But when he spots Anna trapped in a chokehold, he knows he can't let the pretty blonde waitress get wasted.
Now she's hiding out with Jack and the Storm Runners, trying to stay one step ahead of the men who want her dead. The club is in an uproar, trying to claw its way onto a more respectable path after the old executive board was murdered in a bloodbath. Jack knows he needs to focus on the club that gave him back his life—but he can't make himself walk away from Anna.
There's just one problem: Anna has a devastating secret that could separate her and Jack forever.
BOLT is a complete novel at 60,000 words and is the first in the Storm Runners Motorcycle Club series.
The story and writing was okay. The dialogue was a bit stiff, making the characters seem a bit dry at times. The story was good but there was too much telling and not enough showing.
First time author for me and first book in the series. The book has a pretty good story line and I liked all of the characters. Typical biker romance of the h being saved by the bad ass Sargent at Arms of the MC. He doesn't want to fall in love and have an ole lady. She wants to focus only on finding her BFF who was abducted a year ago by a rival club and is being held as a sex slave. The romance builds kind of slow between the H/h. At least they don't fall in bed and have wild sex within the first 12 hours. There is a HEA and no cheating. Although the writing style was fluid and easy to follow, it could have used a more thorough edit. Some words were left out of sentences and the most distracting thing was that some of the character's names were interchanged. The evil villain's name, Axel, was sometime used instead of the good guy's name. I would recommend this book over some I have read lately. It does have a good story, likeable characters and most of the editing is good.
2.75 Stars This story is super short. I read this book in one sitting but I didn’t love the story. I didn’t see much personality in the characters. The storyline was a little slow and it didn’t grip me what so ever yet I may give it a second chance in the future.
Jack saves Carly from being taken and/or murdered when the people she works with are executed. Meanwhile Carly is trying to find her missing friend that was kidnapped a year ago. The motorcycle club is dealing with the massacre of some of their members and a new president taking the club in a new direction. This was a good, but at times gritty, story. Kind of suspenseful with all of the plot lines going on in the story. A couple of them were solved, and new ones were brought up. I liked the fact that there was a good plot. I LOVED the fact that we didn't have to deal with the crazy and or jealous club sweet butts that are in a lot of these MC stories. There was no cheating or sexing other people once Jack and Carly met. There was somewhat of a struggle with their feelings, but not enough to make we want to smack the H/h. There want much sex, and it was just ok. But I didn't mind because the story and characters were interesting. I am looking forward to the next boom.
short and sweet. Basically nothing much happened besides getting together, but still flows well, though wish it is longer so there is more depth to the characters.
