Includes a nice variety of artwork by artists not typically highlighted (not the usual "famous" ones like Monet, Picasso, O'Keefe...)
Also, there is quite a time span from a Bayeux Tapestry from the 1000's to Edward Hopper in the 1900's. There is also a wide variety of mediums: A Native American Winter Count on Buffalo hide. murals, stained glass...
Each artwork is accompanied by it's story, info on the artist, and a related art activity.

Great for kids art projects and even inspirational for adults.

One of my greatest pleasures is using the children's nonfiction section to read about topics that interest me. The dissemination of information through layout and visual aids is so digestible when written for children that it's a shame we become adults. Case in point: here's the perfect bed time intro to art history.
