As the vessel for Solomon's soul, William has the task of choosing who will be representative king while Lucifer, the emperor of Hell, sleeps. William's days are spent avoiding the persistent demons who vie for stewardship of Hell. But when Heaven learns about the search for the king of Hell, it's time for the angels to swoop in!
I really enjoyed this volume, even though the story didn't really move forward a lot. However, we get to know a lot of background-information such as flashbacks from Gille's past. Also there's a lovely scene involving Baphomet, Dantalion's Butler, and Leonard, Sitri's Butler. I don't really like the way the angels are being put so far and hope this element will evolve into something more complex. Kevin provokes a lot of mixed feelings as well, but I want to trust him so badly.
So looking forward to vol. 5 after what the preview has hinted at!!
There is a new player in town, the Archangel Michael, who wants to bring Solomon soul back to Heaven. William get challenged at a test for the first position by student Elliot Eden, who turn out to be Michael vessel (as if his name was not a sight enough…) Kevin the butler is also hiding a huge secret. I continue to love this series and I am interest to found out more about Solomon and the other characters, there is starting to have a lot of them!
The politics got a little clearer once it was more heaven versus hell rather than various factions in hell versus one another. Kevin turned out to be the opposite of what I originally thought he was, so that was interesting. Lots of scheming for various purposes.
It's been a long time since I invested in this series, and I regret ever putting it down. This was absolutely amazing. The art and plot are super enticing and I really couldn't put this down.
We're back at the whole school setting and the plot is still moving slowly. We're finally introduced to some angels and it's interesting that they act more like demons. The end of the book brought up something that may be exciting in the next book, but how many times has this been the case only to not be anything too major? We find out that Kevin is actually a pretty powerful angel but also he's near to falling. The demons are finally going to take matters into their own hands and the action during the Sabbath ended so abruptly?
Also, I'm really curious about Dantalion's past. We've gotten a bit from a few demons but he still remains a mystery. And since he seems to be the closest to Solomon and the one who apparently killed him I'm Intrigued!
I found this one interesting; William gets to see Dante at his most dangerous (reminds me of seeing a cat get really pissed off and seeing what they can be truly capable of), Dante's and Sytry's backstories are sort of hinted at, we learn a bit more about Gilles (not sure I like the wording Baalberith used, but if being gay is a sin then I don't want to be a saint lol), and then we have Leonard and Baphomet's chef battle towards the end, which was quite entertaining, and we're also introduced(?) to Michael, who not only tries to kill William, but also asks him the difficult question of which side he's on (never pick the side asking, William!)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Isaac still continues to be the cutest thing in this book. They are trying to ramp up the tension by suggesting that William could ever have a "Passion" or "Ecstasy" or whatever that would make him a limp puppet to heaven, when we all know what a realist he is. I look forward to that hilarity. Also Gilles metions something about having sex with men being a sin =_ = The Bible actually never states it is.
This series doesn't really feel like it moves much, just keeps introducing more characters slowly with a lot of "damsel in distress" scenarios for William. But the next volume hinted at being more interesting, so I'll wait to see.
