This is Dylan and River’s first real conversation when their friendship begins to develop, along with Mavis’s POV pushing them to become friends, and a late brief chapter from the scientist’s POV. It does jump around a bit, but ultimately all the random POVs lead back into each other. It’s not necessary information for the book, and I can’t see it as anything that would you encourage to read the main book either. More of a little extra from the lives of the MCs for fun.

A glance in the past of the characters of Another First Chance

This is the reason why I teared up from basically page one when I was reading Another First Chance in 2024. The context of the friendships between the characters and how AFC starts just made me emotional. It really made my reading experience better reading this short story before the main book.

I like author Robbie Couch. But this wasn't the short story it is billed as on the cover. It's more like an extended excerpt in prequel form.

The characters had me interested-- one of the author's notable strengths-- and I am open to the plot of the main book, which was hinted at herein.
