Just when I think I’m getting the hang of this whole “married to a wereape” thing, life throws me a curveball in the form of pregnancy. And let me tell you, pregnancy and magic do not mix well. My cravings are bizarre, my magic is on the fritz, and I’m pretty sure I accidentally hexed the toaster. Twice.

But as if dealing with unpredictable magic and hormonal mood swings isn’t enough, an ominous threat shows up, warning me that my baby is in danger. And around here, threats are never just idle words. They’re curses waiting to happen.

To make matters worse, Marcus’s past is coming back to haunt us, and our little town of Hollow Cove is getting a bit too crowded with strangers asking too many questions.

Great series

All I have to say is I love characters riddled with ADHD and angst. I feel a kinship with the what ifs and but maybes.

Toujours enceinte, Tessa attend avec impatience sa délivrance. Elle a pris des kilos, se voit imposer une doula par Amélia, sa mère trop envahissante (qui ne se mêle pas de ses affaires) et se sent fatiguée. En somme, ce n’est pas la grande joie. Mais le pire arrive : un adolescent de onze ans nommé Dylan frappe à sa porte et demande à voir son époux. Le jeune garçon ressemble comme deux gouttes d’eau à Marcus et prétend être son fils né d’une relation avec une certaine Annie. Choquée par cette nouvelle inattendue, Tessa voit son monde s’écrouler. Tourmentée par sa jalousie, elle mène l’enquête pour en savoir plus. Elle téléphone à Zeke, le chef de la meute des loups-garous et apprend qu’Annie Ford est morte depuis trois ans. Partagée entre son empathie naturelle, sa jalousie et ses soupçons, la future mère vit d’intenses émotions contradictoires. Entre regrets et culpabilité, elle se débat. Mais elle a plein de problèmes. Des douleurs la paralysent. Sa magie fait défaut et lors de son déplacement sur une ligne tellurique avec Iris, elle faiblit et manque de tuer son amie qui perd Dana, son livre des ombres. En plus, Vara, la doula autoritaire et gênante la materne au point de l’étouffer, ce qui crée des conflits avec les sœurs Davenport. Zeke menace de venir chercher Dylan. Marcus tombe littéralement amoureux de son fils avec qui il partage de bons moments tel un père affectueux. Comble des ennuis, la fée Clochette si chère à Ruth disparaît. Rien ne va plus pour Tessa !

Tout est bien qui finit bien parce que Tessa résout la situation avec l’aide de ses tantes à la rescousse. Et c’est ce que le lecteur souhaite avec les sympathiques sorcières de Hollow Cove. C’est toujours aussi drôle et plein d’humour. Cependant, personnellement, j’ai moyennement aimé le scénario un peu trop prévisible et vraiment facile à deviner dès les premières lignes du livre. Cette histoire de Dylan était grosse comme une maison. Pareil pour l’odieuse Vara, menteuse et traîtresse. Heureusement, l’auteure nous a épargné une autre ânerie du style « Allison est la mère de Dylan ». Il ne manquerait plus que ça ! En attendant, pour conclure cet énième tome, Tessa perd les eaux. La suite au prochain épisode. Le style d’écriture du livre est du simple langage parlé. Produit en langage familier trop drôle, l’ouvrage se lit aussi rapidement que les précédents. Il est tout aussi distrayant, sans « prise de tête ». A conseiller aux lecteurs veulent passer un bon moment. Mais là, ça commence à devenir un peu long et répétitif. Et je ne suis pas encore arrivée au bout des 24 tomes. Ce n’est pas un peu beaucoup ? Il faudrait conclure l’histoire de Tessa et mettre un point final pour ne pas lasser le fidèle lectorat. Même les grands fans de la sorcière-démone, du gorille-garou et de leurs tantes pourraient en avoir assez.

I read Books 18 & 19 because my friend loaned me her Kindle. They were the only 2 she had of this author. After reading Book 18, I couldn't understand all the good reviews. I read Book 19 to see if the same issues were present—and guess what? They were! This author either does not have an "editor," or she doesn't listen to her editor regarding tiresome repetition. Kim uses the same terms and phrases over and over again. Ugh!! Sure, the stories have some interesting dialogue, and the plotline is passable, but if Kindles didn't cost so much money, I probably would've set fire to it, after being so frustrated with this author's writing. Plus, my friend would have never forgiven me for destroying her reader, lol. Anyway, if you don't mind constant sighing, brows furrowing, eyes flickering (flickering??), repeated reminders of the color of a character's eyes, etc.etc.etc, then take this author on. I don't appreciate the "dumbed-down" attitude and shoving redundancy down the reader's throat. There's no figuring why this author charges so much for her books. She's got a formula and definitely sticks to it. I certainly wonder who writes so many of these great reviews...

I absolutely love these kinds of series—the ones where you fall in love with the heroine and can’t wait to dive back into her world with every new book. Witches Behaving Badly is another fun, fast-paced installment that delivers everything I adore about the Witches of Hollow Cove series.

The author has such a talent for keeping the storyline fresh while staying true to the charm and sass of the characters I’ve come to love. I read fantasy for the escape, and this book—like the rest of the series—is pure magic. Fun, witty, and completely addictive.
