After being away at college the last four years, Kacie Foster is not looking forward to returning home. Her reluctance has nothing to do with it being time for her to grow up and get a job like other recent graduates. The problem is her parents. To say they have never been the supportive and caring type is an understatement. Complicating things further is the fact that she’s just beginning to grieve over the recent loss of her grandmother. Once she’s back home, Kacie encounters Evan Pierce and realizes her parents may not be the only obstacle she needs to face. After losing his twin brother in a tragic car accident six years ago, Evan Pierce moved far away from the place he once called home to escape the constant reminders of his loss. He keeps his misery hidden with booze, girls, and street racing, but deep down, Evan knows it’s all merely a distraction from reality. Just when he thinks he finally has a handle on his life, Kacie Foster storms into town turning it upside down all over again. Will they each be what the other needs to finally move on? Or will one of them, once again, be left behind?
Wow, where do I start? Before I go on about what the book is about let me first tell you why you should buy it today! I fell in love with D.J. Pierson's writing when she wrote Forever Altered.
This book is about how the people "Left Behind" when they lose a loved one try to pick up the pieces, some never really do. I messaged DJ at chapter 3 and told her I was sucked in and needed tissues. Not because it's a tear jerker but if you've ever lost someone you loved more than yourself you feel everything that Kaci and Evan feel, you feel their lose, you feel their pain, their emptiness and their need to be strong. I literally didn't put the book down until I finished it, a book hasn't sucked me in that much in a long time!!!
Kaci is heading back home after four years at college a thousand miles away. The drive from Pennsylvania to Florida was not enough time to get herself ready to deal with the parents she can never please, she has never been treated nicely by her parents, never good enough or smart enough or pretty enough. She does however want to get home to her best friend Jade and her brother Jake, she has missed them something fierce. When she arrives home to the house her grandmother left her when she died a few months ago she is brought back to reality and all the things she has to deal with.
Evan is trying to run his uncles club for him while he is gone and everything seems to be going wrong that day, the liquor order is wrong 2 waitress quit because they both found out gopher slept with the both of them, on the same day, then he has a party for some snobby people in the upper floor of the club. When a woman he can't take his eyes off sits at the bar he jumps at the chance to serve her a drink and see what is making her look so sad. Little does he know that one conversation with her and his world is turned upside down, then to top it off she's best friends with his friends sister. Getting to know her seems to be the only option, but can he do that when girls are usually on a one time only for him?
Can two broken people be the glue each other needs?
This book was AMAZING, (read it if you enjoy a hot public sex scene too cause it happens).
"Evan lifts up the dress and picks me up as soon as I release him. "Wrap you legs around me." He demands. I comply instantly. Just before he enters me he whispers at my ear "I dare you to be quiet". It's a dare I can't win. Between the ache I've had for entirely too long finally being satisfied and seeing the muscles of Evan's back and a$$ in the mirror behind him, there's no way to keep this inside"
I'm a hard person to get 5 ⭐️ from but I really did love this book and I can't say enough great things about it!
I loved this book and have been waiting since Forever Altered for it to come out!!
It's nice for a romance book to be just that!! This is not an erotica book and isn't filled with descriptive sex scenes.
I love Evan and Kacie and their stories of how they've been left behind. Kacie takes no shit from anyone (although her parents are douchebags who make her life miserable) and manages to change Evan's manwhore ways without realising!!
The book ends with a HEA but their story continues in book 2...can't wait!!!
"Being left behind is the worst kind of pain. It can't be kissed better, rubbed away, or bandaged. it's always there, crushing any chance of relief. It's the kind that will never go away because the only person who can make it better isn't ever coming back."
I fell in love with Forever Altered and couldn't wait for this author to bring more to the table! She supports my blog as well I support her writing. This story pulls at your emotions. I just lost a grandparent and another one on their way anytime now and so it was hard at times to read especially the scene of Kacie's grandmother's last words. In the same time, I was crying, I started laughing because of the banter between Kacie and her best friends Jaden and Jake.
"Ever kiss shared with Kacie brings my dormant soul to life." ~Evan Pierce
Thank you for the gifted copy of your new series! I loved it and cannot wait for more of Kacie and Evan's story in the next book coming this Fall!
I would love to see some of the side characters get their own story, Jake and Jaden. I hope they both get their hea as well.
I absolutely LOVE Kacie and Evan!! It's hard not to love every character in this book, except Mommy Dearest of course!! This is an absolute MUST READ!! You will see dressing booths in a whole new light, trust me!! Did I say MUST READ?!?!
I love this book. The characters deal with pain, loss, trust and love. These are realistic characters that you come to know and love, well except for the mother! It is a must read that I will read again.
