Megan Miller doesn't believe in ghosts or in reincarnation. But that soon changes after moving to a new city and a new school. It starts with feelings of déjà vu. Vague feelings at first that remain annoyingly just out of reach. Then the flashbacks start – memories of ancient times and fragmented dreams of when she had been called Celeste.

Then comes the haunting. After visiting the old bombed out cathedral, Megan believes some dark ominous presence is haunting her, following her, whispering in her ear. And always the same question, where did you hide it?

Megan becomes entwined in a frightening and heartbreaking world as she slips between her present life and her medieval past. But the links are fiercely strong and she fears that a new friend is actually a past enemy – and evil has followed her through the centuries.

Don't read a lot of YA, but this supernatural-occult thriller sucked me in from the cover. Good believable characters, a fascinating mystery, and a pretty solid villain kept me reading, and I finished the book in two days (while I was supposed to be working on other stuff, of course). I'd've liked to see more villainy from the villain (we're told he's bad, but I prefer to see them being bad) and maybe a bit more oomph from the climax scene, but then, it did keep me reading, and reading, and reading. Had to see what happened next. We'll call it 4.0 to 4.5 stars.

Five stars are not enough!
'Celeste' by Ann Evans is a real page-turner.
The idea is totally fascinating and the characters in the book are awesome. Megan seems so real! Thee scenes are totally breath taking. I was unable to stop reading the book, despite my efforts. It is the best suspense thriller I have ever come across.
The writing style is what makes the book A+ People, it isn't easy to write in between time-slips. But the words act out the time slips so easily, as if they're leaping off the page.
Surely, words are not enough to praise the work.
Celeste MUST be a bestseller!

I really enjoyed this book, though it's aimed at children anyone older can enjoy it too. I read it all in one day to find out what happened! It tells the intriguing story of 14 year old Megan who moves to a new city (Coventry) and begins to experience strong feeligs of deja vu, which develop into more serious timeslips as if these are memories she has had of previously living in this place. The suspense builds up as she tries to work out what happened to her, what task she was entrusted with and what she can do about it now, whilst simultaneously gettting used to a new house, new school and trying to make new friends, before it reaches its dramatic conclusion.
