No, wait. That's Batman. Sheesh. I always do this.

I was born in Wales, and lost myself in books as soon as I discovered them. That kid who hangs out in the library. Yeah, that was me.

I never wanted to be anything other than a writer/superhero and eventually I moved to London, finding work as a journalist and editor, before turning to writing horror and science fiction, and being continually amazed that people actually read it.

Pretty Fantastic

A wonderful writer. A unique take on the “zombie Genre”. Excellent prose, unique characters. Should be a TV series (as a writer of screenplays and teleplays; recently sold a series to Showtime, I humbly offer my services)’ even with “The Walking Dead” out there, this is uniquely involving, delightfully engrossing and, due to both the vivid characters and the world in which they are forced to adapt t, or die, is a real “page turner” in the best of all ways.

SPOILER: I do find it a huge shame that John had to leave us so early in the series. Perhaps the author found him to be “One Hero To Many”. Still, I missed him a great deal, however, as well as his unique ideas, fleet-footed escapes, he humanizing flirtations with Rachel, and primarily his ethical, moral code. END OF SPOILER.

My one complaint, which is really more of a suggestion; is that, with each book in this six book series being so short, I think it might all work better as one long novel. There are many important characters from wildly divergent locations with very different agendas, and to have them constantly being reintroduced, book to book, or if not, just BEING there to initially confuse us, would no longer be necessary. Aside from this making the story ever further distinctive , it would join the ranks of other epic novels such as Stephen King’s “The Stand”, and Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”. I believe that one immersive experience would better serve the story. Rather than the somewhat disjointed and haphazard separate
“dispatches” through which the tale is now told. It would encourage the author away from writing repetitive-seeming events, and serve a complex, delightful, truly horrifying narrative and all that implies, structure-wise. Just a thought. Anyway, blah, blah, blah! This is an EXCELLENT tale, superbly told. The unusually high level of the writing, the particular and clever details of the new world the author creates, the multitudes of vivid characterizations, along with the cathartic and often devastating events that unfold, make this a series of books which I most highly recommend.

Oh, to be Brad...

Through six books, Brad was ultimately important as to the future. Sure, there were several important characters but none had the experience Brad had during the series timeline. Enough of that. I rated book six in the series three stars. It was pretty good and it brought all the plots together in the end. There was plenty of blood and many MANY last second just in the nick of time rescues. Too many for me to the point of anticipating how the next miracle rescue from certain death was about to transpire. It kind of reminded me of those old serial movies with the cliffhanger at the end of each episode. I'm not into zombie stories but if I were, I might pick this series as the one to read. It had a plot that could be followed and characters you could root for, or against as the case may be. Plenty of bad guys in this one. There were even bad guys dealing with bad guys. The way one bad guy dealt with another bad guy was telegraphed back in book four or five. Not sure but it was pretty obvious. Who survives and who doesn't? There were no surprises....well, one, but no major surprises. Anyway, I read all six books and though I don't care for zombie stories, I would read more by this author who does a good job describing action, giving a clear picture of what is going on. The characters seemed incredibly consistent in their behavior though some were just so darn evil with no redeeming qualities. The book and the series probably deserve more than three stars if you like these kind of tales. Finally, the ending. It was not quite what I expected. Good old Brad!

Underwhelming

Anne and Jake's deaths were anti-climactic. They deserved sooooooo much wise. Jake's similarity to the Incredible Hulk was not lost and seemed rather silly. Would a battle between Jake & Jason have been predictable? Maybe...but I still would have liked to have seen that happen.

Fantastic

Absolutely brilliant end to a fantastic series of books. Really well fleshed characters and a story line it was hard to put down.

Reaction is the 6th and last book of the Wildfire Chronicles and it is in my opinion the best one!! Of course it is!! All the loose ends are taken care of, plots are filled out, story lines brought to a close...... This book is the goriest of the series, but it is a necessity that it is that way. Some of my favorite characters die, some that I didn't like redeem themselves. The money guys that unleashed this zombie virus all lost everything.

The world is changed forever and there are very few survivers-- 18 from the UK and the continent of Australia. The ending of this series brought to mind Nivel Shute's apocalyptic book "On the Beach", originally published in 1957!

Mr. Griffiths, please keep writing stories. I highly recommend this series to avid readers who like reading all genres,

I got this book as a gift from the Author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the 6th and last book in the Wildfire Chronicles and like all the other one's it had me at the edge of my seat and I read way passed my bedtime to find out how it would all end. I loved all the characters and it had plenty of action and a new twist to the whole zombie genre. It was quiet an intense series that had me captivated the whole time and I highly recommend it. However you really need to read it in order to fully enjoy it. K.R. Griffiths has a new fan in me for sure.

And here the story goes off the rails...

I really enjoyed the series and the different take on "zombies". Oddly enough, much of the book had a "real" feel to it - I could believe the characters (not so much the spinal injury, but I can forgive that). I can believe a manmade virus and a band of rogue survivors.

But finding his daughter amidst the chaos, another unlikely reunion, the super rich bad guy. Hmmm.

Then Jake. This went from implausible to asinine. Didn't work for me at all, and put a damper on the whole series for me.

I read all six of these in a row, so this is a collective review. Fun, fast, freaky: this book was everything a zombie novel lover like me is looking for. Liked the interesting take on the zombie outbreak (I've always been partial to the rage ones.) I wasn't in love with the whole mutant Jake storyline, but the mutant Jason one kind of made up for it. After being thoroughly entertained by "Adrift," I'm quickly becoming a fan of this author.

This was a truly fitting conclusion to the series. K R Griffiths deftly and plausibly ties up the several plot lines within the series and creates a satisfying ending for all the characters. I'm truly sad to have reached the end of the series, and I look forward to seeing it on screen, whether big or small!

Wildfire Chronicles

Wow. I haven't enjoyed a series as much as this gem in awhile. Griffiths is an amazing author, character creator, story teller, nightmare inducer. I'd be more inclined to compare to King's The Stand than any zombie books. Can't wait to read the rest of Griffiths books, and I very highly recommend.

Excellent story telling

I was disappointed by a short book in this series earlier however the remainder of the books have been excellent. I would like to see this become a movie provided the actual author saw to it they didn't mangle the story.

I'm sorry the series is over :(
The ending had me laughing a bit but the build up to the end was intense! A wonderful series that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Overall a good series. The flashbacks to develop characters felt excessive and lasted long enough to detract from the action in the story. Even so, an enjoyable and fun read.

am not sure if I like how this series has ended. But it held my interest for all six books. I dont want to put any spoilers in here. But I think the wrong guys died.
