Eliza and Jason made quite the pair being childhood buddies, but I could kinda see a little possible spark going on, at least I hope so ‘cause I’m Team Jason all the way. I’m not a fan of triangles and I saw the possibility so I’ll just keep hoping that doesn’t happen, lol. How about the other guy dates Trudy from the café, yeah that’d be good. 😉 Either way, Jason had to admit Eliza was a good sleuth especially after that showdown! Can’t wait to read the next book now that I’ve also read the little excerpt included for book 2.

This is the first in the series. The main character is Eliza Crunbles and she owns a bakery. One day her overhead fan in the kitchen goes and she calls someone to fix it. The guy fixing it goes outside to get the ladder and finds a murdered man right outside the door. No one thinks she did it but it still gets to her and when people come in and start to tell her stuff, she gets more nosy. Now she thinks who did it but not why and asks the detective to help her. Can they figure it out before it's too late to save her ?

Short murder mystery cozy with basic plot & not much depth. I did, however, learn three new British terms that are different from American. In all cases, I properly guessed what they meant. Zimmerman frame was one of those words. After looking it up, I went online & was able to see items that were more solid than in the US.

An Entertaining Little Mystery

A short, fun mystery. The ending seemed a little rushed, but everything was tied up nicely. Eliza and Jason are interesting characters that should be well developed as the series continues.

Short by fun mystery. Love any books that Maisy writes. This includes a little bit of romance at the end, mystery and great food and most of all Whiskers. I have 12 cats and just love reading books that cats are a part of the story.

A body found behind the Crumbles's Bread &Treats Bakery has Eliza involved in the investigation. Greed, threats and blackmail were a result of this murder. An intriguing quick read which is enjoyable. I received book free and leave a voluntary review. I recommend this book to other readers.

Entertaining

The premise of this book is believable. Eliza seems to be capable and intelligent. It's believable that a small town police force would need information from the public. I enjoyed this book.

First in the series

It starts a little slow but it does take time to introduce the various characters. Once it gets going it has a lot of twists and turns as Eliza tries to solve the murder of a local realtor in the alley behind her bake shop. A fun read.
