Welcome to the bowels of Wellard Asylum, where desire is dangerous and deadly, and madness has a face. 𝓣𝔀𝓸, 𝓲𝓷 𝓯𝓪𝓬𝓽.
Twins Wren and Bash Norwood are serial killers, monsters in the eyes of the world. But to Dr. Caterina Vaughan, they are something far more treacherous, something intense and fascinating that she can't seem to keep her professional distance from.
As their therapy sessions blur into manipulative mind games and fantasy twists into fixation, Caterina is seduced into an unhinged web of fractured truths and buried violence. The deeper she delves into their psyches, the harder it becomes to tell whether she's curing them or they're awakening something darker that lies deep within her.
One whispers in riddles and chaos. The other paints her with words dipped in blood, using his mind to wrap her in his sinister games. Both are broken. Both are always watching, always waiting for an opportunity to sate their hunger. Both see something in Caterina that no one else ever has.
Now, neither intends to let her go, at least not 𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆.
They say love is a kind of 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, but in Wellard Asylum, it might just be the deadliest 𝒔𝒊𝒏, and there's no way to escape your 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒆.
Darkly erotic, psychologically intense, and soaked in deadly secrets, Lethal is a razor-edged standalone thriller that asks: what happens when the one studying monsters begins to fall for them? This is book three of the Wellard Asylum shared world and features an MFM love triangle.
Loved every second of this degraded Mind F! This series is truly unhinged in the most beautifully and dark twisted way. On to the next delightful book of horrors!
4.5⭐️ I got an arc, but my rating/review are my own!
I have so many questions about that ending😮😮 I lovedddd how possessive and unhinged the twins were. the trio? so damm hotttt. the question and answers she was seeking and how twisted that got???🤌
this series is been everything I wanted and I cannot wait to read the rest.
Я шокована сюжетними поворотами, самими близнюками і подіями що відбуватись в цій новелі🤯 Таки краще її розтягувати на декілька днів а то я за один день прочитала і в мене розболілась голова
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for providing an ARC of Lethal by A.L. Magura in exchange for honest feedback.
What in the dark dark world did I just read?! This was a wild, disturbing ride about some legit depraved individuals…and I’m covering my eyes while I say this but I liked it. I’m typically a horror and thriller girl but tend to grab a romance or lit fic when I need a palette cleanser. This had a little bit of horror, thriller and dark romance all mashed up in one story. It was giving 365 Days meets Shutter Island.
I lowkey love that it was less than 300pgs too. I feel like so many dark romance books are 450pgs and up, but this was short sweet and to the point. It gave me everything I needed and keep things moving.
I have to say that I feel dirty admitting this but I will definitely be reading more in this series.
Okay, this book was a real peak—probably one of the best horror erotica novels I’ve ever read.
Please make sure to check the content warnings before diving in. Saying this was “dark” feels like an understatement.
When you enter Wellard Asylum, nothing is as it seems. This is a Doctor x Patients story with an MFM dynamic that will truly shock you. I loved how brutal the twins were when they were free to roam, as well as their eerie association with the circus (which honestly creeped me out—even more so since circuses have always given me chills).
I kind of predicted the plot twist at the end, but what I actually got was ten times more than I expected. Every single novella in this series has managed to surprise me, and this one was no exception.
The spice was excellent, and I loved that the main male characters are twins. I’ve always wanted to read something like this, and I’m so glad this book found me.
If you enjoy horror stories with a mind-blowing twist at the end, definitely consider picking this one up. You won’t regret it.
Yessssssssssssssssssssssss!!! Let's do this shit! Will update in a couple of hours when I've finished!
ok- i finally finished. I definitely slowed down, it dragged a bit for me at about 60%. Then i just buckled down and finished and it was an interesting read to say the least. It was a good ending, i had my suspicions and they were not completely incorrect. The ending made up for the slow middle.
This is part of the Wellard asylum series so as always and mentioned previously - please check your triggers! ❌ Clowns! Got a clown trigger? 🤡 proceed with caution.
The thriller lover in me truly ate this up! I really needed to stop and gather my thoughts after finishing this because I want to do justice to the depraved roller coaster this is.
Catarina is the treating doctor for the twins within Wellard Asylum. The Norwood twins are seductive and violent - oh and serial killers committed to the Asylum and yet, I still cannot blame Dr Vaughan for risking it all for them 😂 The twins draw her into a violent web of depravation. The events that unfold are insane. This is an erotic psychological horror. It’s violent and gory, and yet in the end I was so emotionally attached to each of them. I truly don’t know when it happened but I loved it !!!
I was so consumed by the twins, the doctor and their story that when the twists hit - I was gobsmacked!
“Ring around your silence… A pocket full of screams… we’re coming for you, dolly... you’re already ours to eat.”
This was everything I ever wanted and so much more. Excuse my Canadian French but, what the actual F**k. I’m obsessed. Quick reminder though: even though the Carnevil Twins are hot, obsessive, possessive, and dangerously charismatic in their own morally black way… this is not a dark romance. Please check the trigger warnings before diving in.
Our FMC, Caterina, is the sixth psychiatrist assigned to “The Norwood Twins”, two of the most dangerous individuals to ever step foot in Wellard Asylum. Everyone expects her to fail like all the others before her. But Caterina isn’t just there for a job, she has her own motivations, and the twins may be the key to the answers she’s been searching for.
“Next time, I’ll fuck this beautiful mouth and take your air away. I might even let you breathe once again when I’m done. Then again, I might not.”
Listen… I fear I’d fall victim to both Bash and Wren in a heartbeat. Like, take my fingers and turn them into little hotdogs, I don’t even care. These two are psychopathic, serial unalivers, and absolutely unhinged. And yet? The way they balance each other one smooth and charismatic, the other chaotic and feral creates this perfect storm of creepy danger and toxic lust.
10/10. I would absolutely read this again, because it was that good.
This book was fascinating from the jump—depraved serial killer, cannibalistic twins, and an obsession with a stunning doctor had me instantly locked in. The middle of the book turned steamy, with juicy details that cranked the intensity way up.
But the ending? Whew. I did NOT see that coming. The twist had my brain doing somersaults, and for a few chapters I was questioning everything and trying to deny the reality of what I’d just read. Dark, twisted, and completely mind-bending—this one will stick with me.
I got through a good chunk of it, but honestly I just couldn’t connect with it. The writing style and all the internal thoughts were too much for me, and it made it hard to stay interested. I know some readers will definitely like it. I couldn’t finish, but I’m still glad I got the chance to read the ARC. Thank you so much A.L. Maruga, for the opportunity! 🥰❤️
Warning: Please check the trigger warnings before reading this book as there are many dark topics in this book. If you dare to read it, grab your straight jacket and enter the Wellard Asylum.
I was hooked from the beginning. Bash and Wren are so dark and twisty that could can almost understand the obsession that Caterina has with them. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The ending was such a plot twist I was not expecting!
The twist in this book almost had me throwing my kindle…almost. To say I didnt see it coming is an understatement.
I fell in love with Bash and Wren. Especially Wren with his unhinged rhymes. The Carnevil twins are going to sit with me for a long time because what was that?!
You have Caterina out doctor who is out for revenge for the death of her cousin and while hunting for the truth her obsession with the twins takes hold and what happens when they hold the secrets to what reallt happened? Will she give into their depraved wishes or will she maintain her boundaries?
This pushed me to the brink honestly. But I loved it!!!
Things you can expect:
🩸Twin Serial Unalivers 🖤 Enemies to Lovers 🩸Throat Necklaces 🖤 Power Imablance 🩸 Forced Proximity 🖤 Doctor x Patients 🩸 Dub Con 🖤 Mind Games 🩸 Erotic Horror 🖤 Primal 🩸 Obession 🖤 Killer 🤡
"Ring around the silence, tied up nice and neat. A pocket full of fingers, snipped and cooked to eat. Ashes... ashes... we laughed as you go down..."
Umm...
I'm officially out of words… again 😭
You know how your girl always waltzes down the FORKING spiral staircase to hell? This time? I collided with a pair of psychopath twins. A CARNEVIL twins. Totally chaotic, absolutely unhinged. It was so dark, so twisted, and a messy thrill that made my pulse pound and my sanity question itself. I can't stop, and honestly… I don't want to 😈
And you want to know what they do to me? To Caterina? To Cecelia? They crawl inside my mind, twisting every thought, making me doubt what's real and what's a lie. Every word, every promises, feels like a trap, and I don't know how much longer I can hold on before the spiral completely consumes me 😩
Your girl plunged back into chapters twenty-seven through thirty-two - TWICE! I swear, if chaos had a face, it's staring at me from these pages. I might need Wellard Asylum on speed dial. My sanity is officially on fire 😫
A 6☆ read, and trust me when I say you're not ready for the twins. Bash and Wren will rip your sanity to shreds. My brain's still reeling, and yeah... pretty sure your girl needs a permanent bed at the asylum just to survive this madness 😭
⚠️ This story will seduce your mind and leave you questioning reality. The darkness will crawl under your skin and will haunt you long after the last page. Trigger warnings in full effect ☠️
Thank you for shattering my sanity 😂 and for giving me the chance to read this early 🖤
Okay I’m going to be honest here when I first found the arc applications for this I was hesitant. 60+ TW list what got me hesitant was the clown part. But I decided to give it a go and I’m so glad I did. I loved it and I’m speechless what do I say?!?
The carnevils are twin serial killers in Wellard Asylum. Wren is the one who hears many voices in his head one being a clown, a little boy, old lady, old man and more. Bash is the one who tries to keep his twin brother under control and protects him. He is also the one who falls in love with Caterina first.
Caterina is the carnevil twins doctor. A therapist. She is there in the asylum to talk to patients about what they have done to be in there. She is also there for her own agenda to find out what happened to her cousin Cecelia in that place. She never meant to fall for them. So things get interesting. She wants to know more and they want to play with her. So she does things to get the information she wants.
The plot twist tho. Is she really Caterina or is she Cecelia?!?
Dr. Halstead runs the Wellard asylum. He is watching everything all the time. He says she is Cece and that everything was in her head. I don’t want to give to much away I probably already have. That ending tho OMG I was shook.
This is a dark erotic horror thriller book so please please please check the 60+ TWs for your own sake.

Can’t sleep, clown’ll eat meeee. Literally. I have a fear of clowns but somehow these two cann!ballistic twins can gettttt it. This is a psychological mindf-ck. The storyline and characters keep you wanting to read more, devour it, and find out what’s going on. Bugs and rats are involved, clowns and roasted fingers. Truly nasty, but oh so delightful. A.L does a wonderful job at creating an environment to submerge yourself in that gives you the heebie jeebies. Love this world!!
I’m going to admit I was looking forward to this one upon mention of the twins 🤭 it did not disappoint, grabbed my hair and pulled me all the way in. The doctor, Catalina lives by her ethics until she doesn’t, as the twins, Wren and Bash seem to have a hold on her, one she just can’t turn away from. Dr. Halstead keeps his beady eyes on her too but to what degree 🤔 Their love for 🩸seeps into their conversations, the lust fills their eyes but is it aimed at her or what they see inside? I am not giving you any more than this because it is put quite simply, a book you need to read, so stop clowning around, grab the strap and hold on tight!
Not the first book I’ve read by this author, her writing is great and this one is no exception, she builds you up, gives you the spice, the mayhem of twins, the darkness you crave and the ending you really, really, do not deserve 😈😈😈🤭
That was a haunted rollercoaster of a ride. A psychological twist that I honestly did not see coming. 💀
Mental asylum, twisted twins, a sprinkle of eating people, some filthy scenes, and a plot twist that will make you want to re-read as soon as you've finished.
Check your triggers for this one! Has some disturbing topics and scenes, but I highly recommend reading if you have a strong stomach and are in the mood for a book that will literally fuck with your head and have you thinking you're the insane one. 😮💨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ LETHAL by A.L. Maruga — a dark, delicious mindfuck
Holy shit. Lethal was a ride that blew my mind — no understatement. From the very first chapter, I was sucked into the asylum, into Caterina’s razor-thin sanity, into the twisted, beautiful monsters that are Wren and Bash.
⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️
⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️
⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️
I loved the twins — setting aside all the horrors they committed (some absolutely inexcusable) but damn, the way the author writes them, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the psychos. Wren stole more of my heart, with his brokenness, the voices in his head, his reliance on Bash. Together they’re this uncanny, symbiotic darkness that seduces both the mind and body.
The smut? 🥵 Fiery, twisted, boundary-pushing. It isn’t just shock porn — it’s part of the suffering, part of the power play, part of the descent. The eroticism is drenched in danger, and I was gasping.
Then the ending my mind was completely blown. 🤯 NOTHING is what it seemed. The entire narrative unravels and you see the strings, and realize you’ve been played. Bash and Wren were real but were were twenty years ago. The “reality” Caterina inhabits is a delusion. All those layers of identity that Caterina = Cecilia, the asylum distortions, the alternate reality spun from fragments of trauma — it shattered me. It hurt my heart to wrap my mind around it.
This is a book about power and possession, about a clinician becoming the specimen, about how delusions can become more real than reality. It’s about whether the monster is who we think it is, or who we create in our broken minds. The staging, the carnival-twins aesthetic, the manipulations everything works. The prose is clinical, yet lush. It draws you in and crushes you.
If you love dark romance, erotic horror, morally gray characters who dance on the edge of madness Lethal is a masterpiece in that realm. I’m giving it five stars, no hesitation.
Caterina Vaughan is a psychiatrist at Wellard Asylum, drawn to its most infamous inhabitants: Wren and Bash Norwood, twin serial killers with a carnival past and cannibalistic tendencies. As she studies them, Cat’s curious professionalism devolves into obsession. She becomes entangled in their madness and seduced by their twisted power — unable to cleanly separate doctor from patient, healer from prey.
Wren and Bash are portrayed as one monstrous unit physically identical, emotionally codependent, dangerous beyond measure. Wren’s inner voices, his fractured psyche, his need for Bash make him magnetic. Bash matches him in domination and seduction, binding Cat deeper into their world.
The asylum itself is suffocating, every staff member and inmate concealing secrets. As Cat edges closer to the twins, lines blur. You question her motives and sanity. The narrative drops hints, red herrings, and finally pulls the rug.
In the final act, everything unravels: the “reality” we’ve accepted is a delusion. Caterina is really Cecilia; the twins’ story is historical, not current. The “present” is a fractured construct that Caterina built in her mind based on shreds of trauma and the twins’ documented history. The patients, the relationships, the smut, the power dynamics — they’ve all been woven into a psychological mirage.
In the end, Lethal forces you to ask: who is the real monster? Who is the victim? And can you trust your own mind?

Omg!!! This was a deranged, twisted and unhinged read, and I never saw the ending coming!!!! I'm still sitting here thinking that can't be what happened 😮😮😮 the twist at the end had me screaming and wanting to throw my phone!!! Nothing at Wellard is what it seems!!!
Bash and Wren are absolutely morbidly delicious characters with a seriously dark and demented history!! They are twins who get themselves locked away for life in Wellard Asylum because they kidnap, murder and eat their victims while working as clowns in a circus!!! Yup serial killer clowns!! Like I didn’t have trouble sleeping before! While in Wellard, they become infatuated with their doctor and begin a sexual relationship with her!
Bash is the observant, manipulator who climbs inside your mind to pick you apart. He is domineering and needs control. He is the only person that can calm and control his brother’s delusions!
Wren is chaos and frenzy!! I loved Wren in all of his chaotic glory!! He is a schizophrenic with multiple personalities and hums crazy lullabies! His taste for humans and blood are insatiable and is what drives his behavior!! His character was by far my favorite!!!
Caterina is their new doctor who came to Wellard to discover what happened to her cousin, Cecilia. In the process of trying to find the truth, she ends up a play thing for the twins in order to gain answers!! She allows herself to be put in depraved situations that turn her into a sexual deviant like them!!
Thank you A.L. Maruga for taking me back to Wellard and letting me ARC read this book, I absolutely loved every moment!!
Definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings prior to reading!!
Includes: 🩸 Cannibalism ☠️ SA 🩸 Killer clowns ☠️ Drugging 🩸 Torture ☠️ Unethical Medical Treatment 🩸 Necrophilia ☠️ Somnophilia 🩸 Major Mental Health Disorders ☠️ Manipulation & Gaslighting 🩸 Insect Consumption ☠️ Medical Experimentation 🩸 Plus about 50 other TWs!!
"I'll see you in my dreams, Doctor. You and that pretty tongue, we'll have a feast together."
"I decide when, and if, you take your next breath, slut. I decide if you'll be breathing after I'm done fucking this pretty, pink pussy. You belong to me now, broken dolly."
My sweet, broken doctor dolly is quickly becoming an obsession for me, a craving I don't want to live without, and that's not good, well, at least not for her. None of my previous obsessions are still breathing.
She's cracking, brother. Just a few more sharp taps, and she'll split wide open for us. Then, we can feast to our heart's content.
"I want to watch you fall apart... piece by fucking piece. I want you on the floor writhing, with your theories shattered, and your wet mouth swallowing my cock deep into that tight throat. I want the doctor to disappear. I want the slut to stay. I want you to be mine, and admit that you want that too."
Welcome to Wellard Asylum.. where nothing is what it seems. Cecilia is a therapist in Wellard and the patients she has chosen to work with are Wellard’s most dangerous patients… Bash & Wren Norwood. You see Bash & Wren aren’t of the “average” psychopath kind. Wren has many voices that tell him to do very dark things and Bash is his twin who sort of grounds him. But together, they have a very disturbing appetite. They’re known as The Carnevil Twins.
Caterina has chosen to work at Wellard & with the twins for her own selfish reasons. See, her cousin, Cecilia, was committed to Wellard many years ago and things happened to her there.. things that ultimately resulted in her death. While treating Bash & Wren, they become convinced she belongs with them. Bash just has to get her to follow along.. and he’s got the perfect way.. tell her the answers to the secrets she’s been dying to uncover of what really happened to Cecilia.
But the Caterina works with these disturbing twins, the more she realizes, she may have a lot more in common with them and the truth about why she’s REALLY at Wellard will have your jaw on the floor.
Wow!! What a disturbing read!!! Initially I thought it was kind of slow.. but the more Caterina became involved with the twins.. the more intense it became. The author did an excellent job at writing Wren’s other voices. While Bash & Wren were EXTREMELY dark and disturbed.. their bond with each other was somewhat beautiful. Bash was definitely the protector and Wren, as much as he loved his brother, had this element of jealousy.. he thought that everyone always liked Bash. My black little soul held sympathy for Wren.
I definitely recommend giving this book a read, it’s fitting for spooky season. But .. BUT trigger warnings must be checked. This story is extremely dark and deranged and there’s some content that some people might think is just too far into the dark side. Even though the tension dipped during certain parts, the plot twists, the taboo relationship between doctor and patient, and the SPICE definitely made up for it. 4 stars!
The dedication was top tier, the writing style was immaculate and the darkness was absolutely perfect. I felt like this book was written for me from the very beginning, with the most incredible tropes — twin brothers and asylum!? Who needs more?!
Ahh, I loved the Norwood twins, Bash and Wren, and this whole story so much! They became my new all time favorite book boyfriends. I am literally obsessed with them! I love both of them but especially Wren, he is sweet, funny, so perfect and special. God, it was so heartbreaking to read about their childhood, what they were going through and how even after everything they just locked them into an asylum... I felt like I knew them far longer than these pages, like they've been part of me for my entire life but they just took shape in this phenomenal book. I felt like the author and I must share the same brain as 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥 was everything I ever wanted and so much more! I loved savoring this story slowly like I was inside the walls of Wellard Asylum, with my new book boyfriends who already owns my soul completely. I feel so protective over them, more than I ever thought imaginable, like they were always mine. I wish this book could have lasted forever!
And that plot twist!? I've got goosebumps, I cried, it was the most insane, clever and perfect thing I've ever read!!! I am literally speechless and in shock but in the best way possible! It was tragic but at the same time so breathtakingly beautiful!
If you love dark and spicy reads I highly recommend checking out this beautiful read!
Thank you so much to the author for an ARC of your novel in exchange for my honest review! I will be forever grateful for writing such a special and unique story and sharing it with the world!
The moment I finished this book for the first time I just knew I had to do a re-read on it as soon as possible. Because there was no way another fiction book can compare to this. There was no way I can pick up another story and actually enjoy it while I'm still thinking about the two most perfect fictional men — Wren and Bash Norwood. My obsession with them is real, every moment of the day my mind wanders to the twins. Like they were always a part of me. I would literally do anything for them!
So after reading a refreshing nonfiction about dogs, I couldn't resist re-visiting Wellard Asylum and see how my second read will go after knowing, the insanely perfect plot twist!
I have to admit I usually never read author notes or acknowledgments but for this time around I just had to read every single word, I wanted to savor this re-read as much as possible. I never wanted it to come to an end, and it was absolutely perfect! I am definitely a red flag lover who doesn't need trigger warnings! To know that there are over 60 of them for this dark erotic horror romance novel, was a fun information to discover. Ohh and the dedication definitely gripped me for the first time around as well! Absolutely perfect! Ahh, how I wish to read more books about these characters! Perhaps more about the twins past. The glimpses this novel gave me makes me want to know more!
How can I finish a re-read and want to immediately start from the beginning again?! I could honestly just read it over and over again for the rest of eternity and never get tired of my brilliant twins!
I literally cannot stop recommending this book, every chance I got I have to mention this phenomenal story! The twins and the author deserve all the love in the universe!
Thank you so so much for the author for writing a true masterpiece! I am honestly so grateful for creating the Carnevil twins. 🥹🫂👬🏽
3rd read
Re-reading my absolute favorite book is such a huge comfort to me, especially after a book that made me very emotional because of its topic of grief was too familiar. This was my first physical read with this story and it was my greatest joy to be finally able to annotate all the quotes I previously highlighted in my Kindle. It was a fun time reading my paperback and having my Kindle annotations next to me so I won't miss anything I wanted to remember.
The fact that I cried multiple times on this book on my third read shows everything. How much the characters mean to me and even knowing all the twists I still cried and had the best time!
Needless to say that I absolutely loved my re-read on this masterpiece and I highly recommend reading it to everyone who loves dark romance! Who wouldn't want to meet Wren & Bash Norwood?! Honestly they're the absolute best book characters ever written and I am obsessed with them and this novel. ♡
This book has 60 trigger warnings and if you want to dive into it I really recommend to check all of them! This book is disturbing, heavy and scary. An erotic horror romance set in an asylum with serial killers, deranged people and mentally unstable. Keep in mind this story is in an asylum, so everyone is insane.
Doctor Caterina is in the institution for a research of Carneveil Twins, cannibal serial killers, Bash and Wren. Both of them really insane and smart with psychological games. She is there for her cousin, Cecelia, which was institutionalized and she ended up dead.
It was really interesting since we have chapters from Bash and Wren’s minds. Disturbing as hell. How insane the author wrote those thoughts. Sometimes, the book was a bit confusing with dr Halstead and the girl from which Wren loved at the Carnival in the past. I wanted more details about her and what experiments and how is controlling the asylum dr Halstead.
The twist was insane! I mean after reading the whole book you can say “oh, that makes sense now” BUT IN THE STORY you really can’t tell! Well done!!! And I absolutely love the writing. I can’t wait to read more from this author
"Let them try to break you. You came here to find monsters, and now you’re surrounded. You’ll walk out of this place alive, but the same can’t be said for them. I will have my vengeance, and the walls of this asylum will run red with their blood, I swear it on all that I once held holy."
♡Has a book ever been so good & mind altering that you went through every emotion you have & by the end you're left staring at a wall speechless wondering how you're going to write a review because that is what Lethal did to me!
This was my first read by A.L. Maruga & now I'm on my way to add their entire backlist to my tbr! The writing was impeccable, the attention to detail had my jaw on the floor & my mind able to vividly picture every single description, & the story had my brain & my heart fighting with one another!
I can't wait to continue my journey through Wellard Asylum & if you are brave I recommend checking in as well!♡
ARC Review Lethal by A.L Maruga Pub Date: September 12th, 2025 Star Rating: 5⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵 Dang…there is so much to say about this novel, it had me in a chokehold from page one to the ending and I LOVED it. The 3 characters Caterina, Bash and his brother Wren are really messed up in the best way. The brothers are serial killers and are fawning all over their “doctor” and they get really hot and disturbing right from the first interaction. This is very thrilling and horror with the blood and it really plays into the psychotic personalities of the brother and we don’t get to know much about Caterina until later but the ending will shock you. I read it in a day and that’s unusual for me. Very dark themes and so very twisted. Around the end had my jaw on the floor like what is life anymore? If you love dark romance and horror and get unhinged crazy gory stuff this is the book for you.
Lethal by AL Maruga is an unhinged descent into obsession, madness, and desire that feels like stepping into the darkest corners of the human psyche. Wellard Asylum becomes its own character—claustrophobic, sinister, and dripping with danger—as Dr. Caterina Vaughan spirals deeper into the twisted world of Wren and Bash Norwood.
The twins are absolutely depraved—equal parts fascinating and terrifying—and the psychological games they play are as seductive as they are deadly. The way their words crawl under your skin makes it impossible to put this book down.
And then comes that plot twist. Jaw-dropping, gut-punching, reality-shattering—I didn’t just read it, I sat there stunned, trying to piece myself back together. Maruga doesn’t just deliver a thriller, she delivers a full-blown psychological nightmare you can’t escape.
If you want a book that is depraved, addictive, and guaranteed to mess with your head, Lethal is it.
