I have been teaching since 1997. This is the best book for elementary and early childhood educators I have ever read. It is so needed in today’s society. It is my hope that the practical tools and intentions outlined in this book spread like wildfire as it is shared educational community to educational community throughout the world. This embodies “be the change you want to see in the world” and can speak to the heart of many disenchanted teachers who want more for their students. Here is a path to that reality.
I learned of this book through a fellow educator who had been teaching for 13 years and said she’d always felt there was something missing from her teaching practice. She said this book was the answer for her to fill in the missing pieces. After reading the book I can strongly concur and already have ordered Conscious Discipline (another book by Becky Bailey) to continue this journey. I appreciate that this book asks me to commit to enacting the parts of it gradually and in my own way. I am currently rereading the book immediately. In this round I will decide on my first commitments in each category now that I have the big picture. Thank you Becky for your ability to pivot and willingness to work hard to share these insights with fellow educators. It is important heart work that is changing lives.

Lots of ideas for nurturing a sense of community and inclusion in your school. Best for preschool and early elementary grades.
