Imagine what would happen if you have made different choices in life? Nigel Saunders gave up theoretical physics to dedicate himself to his family. A mysterious stranger appears from a reality where Nigel was a physics genius who created a time machine. Nigel’s life is about to change completely in a fast-moving adventure through time and space!
Timothy Michael Lewis is a London-based author. He spent 18 years working as a computer programmer and IT manager in the world of financial IT. In 2011, the death of his wife after a long illness made him reassess his life goals. He decided that he wanted to write stories, especially in the science fiction and fantasy genres. Coming from an interest in screen-writing, his writing style is a fast-moving concise style of short action-packed books.
I was bitterly disappointed by this book, which made me quite sad. This book has the premise of a quite good novel (and I've read quite a few with quite similar back-cover text), but the story is seriously let down. I felt like this was a skeleton of a story, ready to be filled up with the content that is the meat of the story which will actually make you want to read more.
I finished the book, which was a challenge. There's no real rhythm to the story. Yes, there are funny bits but on the whole, it could do with being taken up by an independent third party to encourage the author to fill out whole chunks of the book.
Here's a quote from the first chapter:
"A young female police officer sat with Nigel in the local police station and showed him photo stills of a man from a CCTV surveillance camera near the alleyway. Nigel confirmed the man was the person who had attacked him. The officer told Nigel that the only person named Raymond Deville they had on file had died almost ten years previously. She told Nigel that his attacker was probably delusional."
Now... I don't want to be overly mean here, but this is a random paragraph from the first chapter. There's nothing here that drags you on. No speech with the Police Officer. Why did he think she was pretty? What else was said other than "he's probably delusional". No suggestion of more support from the police? No details about the CCTV stills (perhaps "showed him some grainy photo stills which showed the man they thought had attacked him.") No. It's just a unfeeling monologue. Later in the book, when an illicit affair occurs, and the traumatic resolution of that happens... it's just reported as though by a bored newspaper reporter. "X happened. Y burst in, full of remorse. 'Z knows!' Y said." Sigh.
Ultimately, there could be a good story in here (and it's the first part of a series... sadly I won't be buying the next one to see if it improves), it just needs a lot of care and attention to bring it out from down there. And I'm not sure that someone is willing to spend the time bringing it out.
If you're a Sci-fi geek, a fan of time travels stories or alternate dimensions (as I am), then you're going to love this short story!
The book is a quick read, features a lot of dark humour and all the chicanery and twists we've come to expect from time travel tales. It has your head spinning, but in a good way!
I look forward to reading more of the authors work.
This happened and then this happened and then this happened....
Timeshock needs substantial padding out with descriptions and dialogue. Also plot and character development, including descriptive emotion to avoid sounding like something my 9 year old has written.
Dr. Nigel Saunders (PhD, physics; financial mathematics) & Natalie were married had children & were in love. Raymond Deville gad been following him & needed his help. Funny thing is when the police interviewed him about the incident the female officer told him he had been dead for 10 yrs.
When Nigel got home after work there was a note to meet me at Hilda's café. He was knocked unconscious & kidnapped. His wife/kids (Nathan) were already being held captive. Raymond divulged his story to Nigel, he died but his sister Amanda didn’t in a car accident. Raymond wanted to go back in time (alternative realities).
Nigel diligently worked on the time machine (teleportation). Things did not go as planned. Raymond killed Nigel’s family.
Later Nigel Johnston (Saunders) went back/forth in time & got into gambling & placing bets. He quickly became a multi-millionaire.
Nigel travels to Previum (city of Elders; Refugees) & meets Zac. They are habited by an Emperor who is in charge of Bilozians (creature, cat eyes).
Nigel’s next stop Niana. Then on to Rome Italy, & Paris France.
What will Nigel find out about Natalie?
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A fairly well written bizarre sci-fi or paranormal book (short story). It wasn’t always very easy to read/follow from start/finish, but never a dull moment. There were no grammar errors, no typo errors, & no repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make great sci-fi movie, animated cartoon, or mini TV series. It was just OK for me so I will rate it at 4/5 stars.

I gave this book 4/5 stars
This is a book about man who is travelling through time and trying to fix everyone's past and lives. But then he realizes that he also travels through alternate universes. The story follows his journey.
I started reading this book with no clue what it is about and i didn't expect much. I loved the idea of plot and was really interested in it. I think this book could be better written. Everything was to fast and i couldn't catch with it. Also it would be more interesting if the different worlds and times were more described, i just feel then we miss that aspect of story. I think i could use more describing details, because it was just action and i couldn't relate to characters as good as if i knew a little more about their lives and worlds.
Overall i really enjoyed book, it was interesting and kind of different than i expected but in good way. Everyone who like sci-fi should enjoy this book, but even if you don't like that genre you will like it because it is really good and exciting adventure.

I'm a big fan of time machine stories (thanks to 50 yrs. of being a Doctor Who fangirl), and this one did not disappoint. It's not overly scientific, and it has plenty of humor,as well as suspense. There is time travel, alternative realities, alien life forms, etc.
No matter what Nigel does, there always seems to be a flaw in his plan, or in his new reality. The ending was a little disappointing, but the more I think about it, it really does fit in with the rest of the story.
Excellent premise, quick read and well paced. That said, the character development is weak. Sadly, the book "jumps the shark" around chapter 11 as it slides sideways from time travel with it's multiple paradoxes to alien civilzations pursued in comic book style. Had the author developed his characters so we could care for them and then kept with his well developed time paradoxes to a good, even cliff hanger, finish it would have be a great read. For now..2 stars.
Downloaded free from Kobo. Not what I thought it would be. Short & easy to read but I did not enjoy the story... it jumped around a lot. I see it is the first book in the series so maybe the story will improve but sorry to say I won't be bothering with the next book.
This book could have been a great book. If someone like Stephen King went with a story like this he would have made it into a 1300 page novel. This was an 86 page book. Not enough detail, jumped around to much, and writing was sloppy.
Got a bit confused with the various duplicated characters in the different realities; don't know how the author kept up with it, copious notes maybe! Not really my sort of book but being short I persevered.
It was OK as the rating implies but I thought it tried to be too clever and managed to confuse itself. The paradoxes of time travel were laid out but it didn't grip me as much as I wanted
I thought this book was pretty good. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't long and was able to hold my interest. The back and forth in the main character got kind of confusing but the author did a great job at making it understandable. I liked the idea of alternate universes, that was interesting.
