After tragedy tears Jamie Brandt’s life apart, her only goal is to finish high school so she can leave her small hometown behind. In the meantime, riding her horse is her main source of solace, until a mysterious stable hand shows up at the barn. There’s something not quite right about the handsome new employee, and the more Jamie sees of him, the more determined she becomes to figure out what he’s hiding.

Dothan Reed came to historic Huntsville, Maryland, for one reason—revenge. But his plan can’t move forward until he finds the missing piece he needs to enhance his powers. As the only surviving Nephilim, Dothan is not only weaker than full-blooded angels; his forbidden lineage makes him an outcast in both worlds. When he discovers Jamie is the key to locating an ancient weapon, he’s forced to interact with a vulnerable human girl—a task that becomes more appealing with each encounter.

Jamie soon learns Dothan isn’t the only one with a dark secret. Each new revelation further threatens her safety, and Dothan’s betrayal shatters her heart. Forgiving him seems impossible, but the thought of turning her back on him is equally painful.

As their connection deepens, Dothan will have to make his own difficult choice: continue on his path of vengeance, or protect the girl he loves. And when Dothan’s actions thrust Jamie into an unforeseen danger, he must seek the help of his enemy…or risk losing her forever.

She met him when she fell from her horse. Dothan was mysterious, distant, even rude, but there was a side of the new stable hand that was caring and gentle and that is the side caught Jamie’s attention. That and the fact that she was certain he was hiding something. Short on real friends, Jamie reaches out to the young man who reminds her of herself, alone in a world full of cruel strangers and great loss.

Dothan was a man on a mission and nothing would stop him from seeking revenge against the man responsible for killing his father. It won’t be a normal killing, Dothan is the only surviving Nephilim, part angel, part human and his target is one of the strongest archangels there is. He will need a special ancient book with the directions to enhance his strength. His father was all he had, and now he had nowhere to fit in, until Jamie, the girl he had intended to use as a tool to get what he needed.

Dark secrets are putting Jamie in mortal danger and it isn’t all Dothan’s fault, but he learns that he may feel more for this human girl than he feels for his plot to kill.

Kathryn Knight’s Divine Fall is a dark tale of suspense and the healing power of love. From the first page there is a feeling of “the rest of the story” being kept just out of reach. Like scraping layers of old paint off a wonderful treasure, each page uncovers more depth and continuously urges us to read on for more. Fabulous writing, focusing on the characters’ throughout, even the angels become more human and less mysterious.

** Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in return for an honest review.

2.5 stars!!!

I really expected this book to blow me away but sadly it didn't. The story starts off with Jamie, a school outcast, who has lost her Mom. She meets Dothan, a Nephilim, who works as a stable hand at a barn where Jamie takes riding classes. The two start to form a relationship with each other but unbeknownst to Jamie, Dothan is planning on taking revenge and ultimately she gets sucked into a world of dark secrets.

Well, the blurb and cover definitely looked interesting enough for me to delve into the story. At the start of the novel, I really liked Jamie's character. She came across as a bit snarky but I felt that because the author pushed the relationship to progress quickly, her character devolved after that. We then just get chapters filled with how Jamie wants to be with Dothan but can't. Plus, she constantly goes on about how hot he is. We get it. Honestly, I didn't find him that attractive and he came of as quite creepy at the beginning. I didn't find him swoon-worthy. Their relationship lacked chemistry because it was all insta-romance.

As the story was centered around the relationship, I felt the main story line of Dothan's revenge and his backstory was somewhat sidelined. This part of the plot is thrown haphazardly in between chapters and picks up towards the end. The story would have definitely been better if this was the central storyline. I also didn't like the in depth information regarding horses. It brought nothing to the overall arc of the novel. The minor characters flit in and out of the novel. We have a villain but their character development was non-existent at best. The story lacks action and plot twists. There are minor revelations and the MC Jamie seems to just accept them willingly. She hardly blows up.

The only part of the novel I did like was about the bullying. I wish the author focused on this issue more and brought more awareness to it. But as I said, the book was more about romance. We do see Dothan and Jamie compromising and forgiving each other. Plus, they learn to open up to one another about things. But this made the story a little bland.

Overall, the story is enjoyable for a one time read or if you just want to pass the time. It had lots of potential but the delivery was just average. The author manages to tie up loose ends but it wasn't done in the most spectacular way. It was done just for the sake of it. If you are looking for a swoonworthy romance. This is definitely not it.

First things first, when I read this book I felt like I was reading myself, first love is in the air....

Jamie it's in junior year high school, she works in her grandpa's store, and she rides her horse. Her life has been full of tragedy but she's ok with that, she had learned to live with wherever that life gives her. Her life it's pretty normal, until mystery guy appears, Dothan, he works in the barn where she rides, he is amazingly sexy, the guy that she only can had in her dreams, so when he starts to come closer to her, she barely believes it, but he's different, and really has problems with people, but that only makes them come closer, until he asked her to do something and when she does, the lies around explodes. Now she doesn't know what to do, her gramps said that she has to stay away from Dothan, but her attraction for him it's to much and she needs answer, the thing it's that she can't believe the answer.
Dothan it's a nephilim, the last one in earth, his father was an archangel, and his mother a human, when he was born his mother died in labor, and because of that his father was accused of murder, because he in an indirect way killed her. Dothan wants revenge, but it happens to be that the archangel that killed his father it's the grandfather of Jamie, and he can't pursued his plan of kill Nathaniel, he cares about her and don't want to hurt her, after all her gramps is her only family.

Jamie don't what to see him, he lied to her, she can't trust him, but when he saved her from some bullies, she just realized how deep are her feeling, she fell for him, and the most important thing is, he's as deeply in love with her. So they keep seeing each other, but Nathaniel doesn't know, and rare thing keep happening Jamie, feels someone watching, Dothan it's determined to protect her, even from himself. But sometimes it doesn't matter how much you want it, people want power and Nathaniel and Dothan has that, they need to know how much they hate each other and how much can forget that in order to protect Jamie from something terrible.

I loved this book!!!!

A lot of things shocking happened, and I think I just fell from them, I had the butterflies of the first love, and Jamie it's such a funny girl!!! She's shy, and has her issues, and insecurities she was so real, I definitely felt relate to her, she's just as awkward as a normal girl is, in her first relationship. And Dothan he exude sexiness, the way she describe him, my god!! And he's actions he's not the normal guy either, he's is vulnerable and strong at the same time, I just think that they are adorable totally lovable. And it wasn't like all her life was him now, she wasn't that girl that falls for the guy and forgets everything, I just like her.

So I will give it 5 stars to divine fall, really easy to read and amazingly written I was awake all night reading this book. Totally for romantic people like me.

I love my paranormal books. This one is quickly at the top of my must share and recommend list. This is the third book of Kathryn Knight that I have read and each one is amazing. This one is about angels, which is not something I read about often, but was incredibly intrigued. As I started reading about Jamie and Dothan (love that name) I kept trying to figure out exactly what Dothan was and how Jamie played into the story. When it was revealed how the two of them were tied together, I had that ah ha moment and could not believe it, but it all made sense and fell together.

Although Jamie and Dothan are young, the love they shared was amazing. It was easy to see how strong and true their love was. It was beyond the mushy, young love. Their love was something deep. It is not everyone who can love a Nephilim and keep their secrets. Jamie was good for Dothan and Dothan was Jamie’s savior more than one time.

Kathryn Knight is an author that has never let me down with her books. She is an author I am confident in always recommending. Divine Fall is the newest of her great works and I cannot wait to have my friends read it.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal).

I enjoyed this book. The story was good and intriguing and romantic with a touch of creepy.
I liked and didn't like Jamie. Let's just say I didn't share some of her decisions or thoughts. About the bullies especially.
And about the pranks/bullying aimed at her: I found it too much. I don't know... either they were extremely immature (and with "they" I mean most of the students in Jamie's school) or they were all particularly evil. Some pranks were really cruel and even dangerous.
Dothan... I must say that for about the first half of the story I found him kinda creepy. And it was just SO obvious he had a hidden agenda. I didn't like him much in the beginning. But then he changed and it was clear he actually cared about Jamie. And their encounters? Hot! Really hot kisses.
A good read! 3.5 stars

Loved this book. It is well written with incredible intrigue and for this reader it felt very mysterious. I've only read a few YA books and the others were made into movies and though I like those books a lot, I think this book is much better written and would make a awesome movie.

Jamie is our heroine 16 yr old and Dothan's is the hunky 18 yr old misfit who rescues Jamie. There are lots of secrets and the biggest one starts with Jamie's grandfather. Secrets of a super natural flare. Oh my! Really wonderful story of angst and young love with high school bullying coming into play.

A definite must read and you don't have to a teenager!

I love me a story with fallen angels, a dark character who falls in love and changes because of it. However, this book fell flat.

Dothan, while I love the original name, he just wasn't attractive enough. Maybe because he came off only as creepy instead of mysterious.

Jamie was the most likable character. She was snarky which I love in my characters.

The chemistry with Dothan seemed forced. I feel like they needed more time to grow and she accepted revelations way too easy. It was all too naive. I'm all for insta love but in this case it just didn't work. More character development was needed.

Action. What action? No twists, no surprising turns. Again, flat.

When I read these types of books I unfortunately compare them to Hush Hush and Flight series.

Wow!! I just finished reading Divine Fall by Kathryn Knight and it was so good and suspenseful!!! Jamie was in her last year of high school trying to stay under the radar from her classmates. She was involved in an incident at her school the prior year and that made her the subject of bullying. She loved riding her horse. She had met a ranch hand named Dothan and sparks flew between the two of them. Both of them had secrets and were drawn to each other. There were twists and turns in this story that had me on the edge of my seat. I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest opinion. I loved it and I highly recommend reading it!!

I can’t say I dislike this book but I also can’t say I loved it. The pace was very plodding and the story fairly predictable. I felt like we had rising action for 80% of the book before we peaked, then a quick rap up and back to a plodding end. If you like equestrian novels with angels and Nephilim then this might be a book for you. You’ll learn more about horse care than the supernatural world so be prepared. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review by Lovers of Paranormal.

Divine Fall is a classic and lovely YA paranormal romance. Well-written, full of secrets, drama, and muscles, it's exactly the kind of crack that every YA reader needs.

Jamie is 17, an orphan, and the local school outcast. She fills her days working at her grandfather's antique shop and riding her horse, Beau. It's at her boarding stable that she first meets Dothan, a mysterious young man who seems to want to avoid her at all costs. But it's not until he comes to the antique shop looking for books that things start to get interesting. Despite themselves, Jamie and Dothan can't help but like each other. But each step closer in their relationship just leads to more secrets.

When everything comes to light, Jamie finds herself at a crossroads and in more danger than she realizes. The suspense is trailed out like bread crumbs throughout the story, the and tension doesn't quite let up until the final confrontation. Divine Fall is a fun, interesting romp through mythology and mystery.

If there were ever a sequel, I would definitely pick it up, but as it is, this book wraps up nicely, with our characters back on stable ground, with just a hint of adventures to come.

I found that Divine Fall was a quick, enjoyable read. The writing was easy to follow but not overly simple, and the characters were relatable. Jamie especially had some flaws, and I liked that she grew and matured throughout the novel after meeting Dothan (she made friends, was going to create an anti-bullying campaign, got over her dad issues and got some confidence). My first issue with this novel, like a lot of others felt, was the bullying part of the story. Jamie has lost her mother semi-recently and is also being bullied for ratting out someone from her school. The bullying is there in the background and doesn't take a whole lot of Jamie's time and therefore the reader's which was good, and the problem was also solved easily by Dothan. However, I just didn't find the whole scenario plausible. Why would these kids still continue to bully Jamie over something that happened the year before to someone who had already left school? Either they were immature or really didn't have a life.
For the characters: When we are first introduced to Dothan, I felt he had an agenda. I also felt he was too cliche - handsome, dark, mysterious, tall, knows French and Latin, long hair and general badboy appearance. This was however thankfully supplemented by an anti-social personality and a soft-heartedness that is revealed later on. This made him more believable.
I really liked the relationship between Jamie and Dothan; it was sweet and even though she did feel (inexplicably, I might add) drawn to him, the author took her time to write their interactions out. I also liked that their relationship had problems and obstacles that they had to overcome, which is more realistic.

Now, this is a small thing, but there are so many books out there, and therefore so many characters in need of names. I've read books with the same old names and I've read some where the author tries too hard with over-the-top, weird-sounding names and ones that don't really fit. This book doesn't do that :) (I'm really fussy, aren't I?) Anyway, Jamie is used for a girl which is not so common, and Dothan is used for the name of the guy, which I've never heard of, but it is a real word and not hard to say.
The one real issue I had with this novel was the pacing and the plotline. This novel is of ok length, has a good concept but the way the story was spread out made it feel a bit off. Basically, the first half of the novel is characterisation and world-building, all the essential stuff, and Jamie and Dothan moments. So really nothing much happens in the first half. Then halfway through, we get the revelation. Dothan is Nephilim and So I'm like, yes finally, and then after a bit she believes it, and there goes that major event, out the door. Then I'm waiting for the next thing to happen, and all this stuff how it's all dangerous to be around him (Dothan) etc. goes on and then I'm thinking it's not gonna happen and then finally Something big, right? And then the next chapter Dothan and Nathaniel And then the final plot twist happens but it's not really much but it could be something if the author writes a second book The scene where was too predictable, I knew he would be alive. So I was a bit disappointed with that. Saying that however, I surprisingly never really got bored with it and I think this is because every chapter either has Jamie and Dothan/Nathaniel/Sam (Jamie's friend) in it. A lot of good/bad books that I read; there is usually a dull, boring period where it sucks and so I take a couple days break so I can try and get back into it again. So that didn't happen in this book, which was good.

Jamie's only friend, Sam, is not too cliche, she's supportive and sporty, but not super popular and is a year younger than Jamie, which was interesting. She almost felt like a really side character to me; maybe the author could have done more with her? I don't really know, it was ok just like that though.
Dothan gives up his plan to avenge pretty quickly, Nathaniel ain't as as I thought he could've been and Jamie didn't do much, I thought, except to make Dothan happier.
It was good though that even though Jamie lost her mother the year before and was getting bullied a bit, she wasn't all whiny and depressed and broken, because sometimes those kind of characters get on my nerves. And she's grateful at the end too for all the people in her life.
The was a bit cliche at first but then Jamie quickly got used to it so that was fine.
I felt that Jamie was a bit cliche (I think I've said that too many times) with her social problems even though I do get it, it doesn't take too much from the story though. The most annoying thing about Jamie was she kept crying in front of Dothan, like countless times, and was woozy a lot (it was plausible, but still) and sometimes came across as helpless.
This novel is kinda meant to be a paranormal romance, I think, the romance was there but not so much the paranormal. It's got a lot of horse scenes (which I like, though I've never ridden a horse ever), but everyone else might not like that so much. I don't think the angel aspect of this story was delved into enough, I felt like I wanted more. However I did really like that the angels in this story That kind of take on angels was different.

Overall, as I've said, there were some issues but I did thoroughly enjoy reading this book, especially the romance between Jamie and Dothan. This is the kind of book more about horses than angels. I would recommend this book if you don't mind less paranormal, more horse, only a little bit of action and a quick read.

Divine Fall by Kathryn Knight

I was completely invested in this book...for the first 40%, then it just slowed to far for me. The beginning is enchanting and mysterious. The story never stops, and it is a great story. It just really slowed down with dull, unnecessary filler.

Not too bad of a book. Relatively easy read. Parts were very exciting to read, others reached a bit of a lull. There could have been more detail and anticipation in parts. But all over, not bad.

Definately young adult

This book was a little slow for me. It took me a lot longer to read because it just didn't pick up until 80% in. It was well written, I think it just lacked excitement unlike Kathryn Knights other works.

I was highly impressed with this book. It caught my attention in the first few pages and it stayed at the level throughout the book; I may have gotten a little addict it to.

What I enjoyed most was the way Jamie’s and Dothan’s relationship developed. There was much conflict and confusion, as how most relationships start out. The instance attraction was there, but that sickening insta-love wasn’t. At one point Jamie pointed out, in her head, that she couldn’t be in love, it must be a case of lust. And that my friends made me throw up my hands and scream “Finally!”

I also took note to how much she loved her grandfather (bio or not). Even when she was given information to cause her to doubt him, she never stopped loving or believing in him. There’s a reality there, as in most families, it is not natural to doubt, or to commend a beloved family member, like a grandparent, because a hot guy, who you barley know, told you shocking and fighting information, that may or may not be true. It is natural to defend and protect them, and that’s what Jamie does. Though she has some slight suspicions, she doesn't brew about it, she seeks out the truth, because to me, Jamie doesn't have time for BS.

Dothan is a whole different kind of trouble. He isn’t your typical YA hot guy who farts roses. Why? Well he isn’t a jerk, or a controlling toolbox that makes her insecure at every turn they take. He does have a sad back story, but in the long run, it’s a very real story. The emotions he feels for what happened are very real and connecting for those that have been in a similar situation. Though he does blames himself for it, he isn’t dark about it.

At first meeting with Jamie, and her little fall, I was sure he was going to be another cookie cutter bad boy that I just wanted to smack the shit out of. But no, that was not the case. Though he does us her to gain access to some pretty important information, he wasn’t a complete ass, about it. At no point was Dothan ever mean to Jamie, and at no point did she take any BS from him.

The balance was real, their emotions felt real to me, and most of all, Jamie strength, resolve and growing feeling for Dothan, made me believe that they will be okay. It will be hard, but they’re fighters, and will fight for what they believe in, not what others believe will happen. I do wish that there was a little epilogue at the end, just a little tiny peek into the future, to close out that feeling that yes, they did make it. (And to see if they did, in fact, prove everyone else wrong.)

This book is a fast but fun read. It leaves you with all the warm happy feels that a good YA should have. Not leaving you with the urge to whip the book as hard as you can at a brick wall. (That may or may not have happened to me.) This book brings so much more then what you would expect. At first glance, mostly at the cover (yes it’s true, don’t judge a book) I had no real desire to read it. I’ve haven’t had much luck with YA’s lately, (thus the book throwing comment.. I'd never do it, I have too much respect for books, but the urge still present itself, on occasion), out of the 100 or so books I’ve read this year, only three or four YA’s have stood out for me, and frankly, that shouldn’t be. I don’t really know what made me look beyond that typical YA cover, be I did, and I’m happy I didn’t turn away from this fascinating read about love, in all its forms.

Because love isn’t all about romance, family was there first, and it will always be. Some YA’s forget that, and I’m elated that Divine Fall did not dismiss that real world fact.

I highly recommend this book. It’s another one of those hidden gems that makes you believe that not all YA’s are carbon copies of each other, and that there is hope for this world after all.

Read what you want to read, be honest when you do, and nothing will stop you.

Keep On Daydreaming

**I received a copy of this book through the Guest Reviewer Program at Ethereal Book Reviews (check out that blog people!). I would like to thank Ethereal Book Reviews and Kathryn Knight for giving me the opportunity to read this novel!**

I would like to start off by thanking Kathryn Knight for not falling into what I call the young adult trap. The timeline is this book is pretty long and that means that we do not have the love at first sight thing going on. I don’t really like the fact that some of the characters in other novels fall in love when they don’t even know each other. Knight has Jamie and Dothan learn about each other and get to know each other before they start to sprout the L-word.

I couldn’t believe what Jamie had to go through because she did the right thing. I honestly thought that with the way that her classmates had been treating her, she had done something horrible. The right thing may be the hard thing to do, but I loved the fact that Jamie stood up for something that people don’t take seriously and followed through with her actions. She didn’t deserve to be treated like that.

I also enjoyed Knight’s use of the angels. In the angel department, I thought that this novel was pretty unique. I can honestly say that I didn’t predict some of the ways that Knight took “Divine Fall” in. I should have but I didn’t. The angel part of the plot didn’t over power the other aspects that she was working with. Knight did a great job of balancing that with the messages about bullying.

I loved the fact that Knight talked about bullying in her novel. Bullying is such a big problem in our society and Knight addresses that with Jamie. Bullying isn’t ok and it is important that we stand up and fight it. If you are being bullied, it is important that you talk to someone because no matter what you think, there is always someone out there who is willing to listen and support you 100%.

“Divine Fall” was a great novel and I quite enjoyed reading it! Definitely a novel to check out if you like angels!

This is a Young Adult Paranormal romance book and I found it to be a very good story—it kept my attention and I finished it in one day. The main characters are Jamie (girl) and Dothan. Jamie has gone thru a year of turmoil as her mother died leaving her alone and the high school she attends is shunning and bullying her. Luckily the man they rented from took over guardian of Jamie and she calls him her Grandfather. But---how much does she really know about him even though they have lived with him for years. Jamie has a horse and there is a new stable hand named Dothan. One day as Jamie is riding and daydreaming her horse shies and Jamie comes off, hits her head and blacks out for a moment. Jamie regains consciousness to find a hunk staring at her asking if she is OK. As she struggles to figure out why he isn’t helping her up she finally asks for help—Dothan hesitates and then reaches to help her up—the sparks fly!! I don’t mean sparks as in liking each other but real sparks that shock Jamie. A few days later Dothan shows up at the store Jamie works at (her Grandfather’s store) looking for him. A relationship builds between the two as Jamie struggles with serious bullying at school—a couple times Dothan is on hand and saves her. Jamie convinces Dothan to open up to her and she finds out that he is not just a boy. Dothan’s father was killed by Jamie’s Grandfather which causes problems as Dothan is in love with Jamie but did come to kill her Grandfather.

Grandfather forbids Jamie from seeing Dothan (we all know how that works) and the story unfolds about what Dothan is and what her Grandfather is. When Jamie is kidnapped her Grandfather must save her. I don’t want to give away the rest of the story but there are twists that will make you happy. I Highly recommend this book.

Jaime’s only happiness and peace was riding her horse, Beau. one day, a new handsome stable helping hand appeared and there was a mysterious aura about him. the more Jaime met Dothan, the more she tried to figure him out. Dothan was a Nephilim, half angel and half human. he came to the small town for one purpose, to seek revenge for his father’s death. but before he can take down the full-blooded angel that killed his father, he needed a missing piece to enhance his powers. when he discovered Jaime had the access to the missing piece he needed, he began interacting with her. but the more they got together, they more they fell dangerously in love with each other.

I received a free e-book from the author in exchange for an honest review. the book for me, started out with too much information to digest. but as I traversed through the pages, it became an easier and easier read. the moment I saw where the story was heading, I flew through the pages and immediately slowed down just to enjoyed the battle where Dothan was to join hands with his supposedly enemy to save Jaime. the twist was surprisingly satisfying. not being a huge fan of romance, I picked out the book for its supernatural part of the story, I was pleased to be not disappointed. I was even more glad that I didn’t once felt repelled towards the romantic sections throughout the book. although I had a difficult time rooting for Jaime even after the book ended; Dothan on the other hand, was a character so charismatic that made him impossible to resist.

I enjoyed this book immensely. I don't typically read YA, but I loved Kathryn's other two books (5 stars!), so I decided to give this a try. I'm glad I did! My biggest beef with YA is the continuous teenage angst and the ridiculous "first time" scenes depicted in many of the series books (think the Twilight saga and Tryll series). Luckily, I didn't have to endure any of that with Divine Fall.

Kathryn does a great job in creating believable characters while developing great tension. Initially, I struggled to accept Jamie's (the lead female) mature personality, but then I had to remember she'd lost so much. Like many of the students I teach who have gone through loss, and/or seriously debilitating events, youth tend to "grow up fast" when awful things happen. It actually makes sense that Jamie's more mature, and wiser for her age, so I got over it!

The only reason this is a 4 instead of a 5 for me, is the overall pacing lagged a little in a few sections or felt a bit too repetitive for me. The overall plot and critical point also felt like they could've been a bit more fleshed out. Again, this is an extremely minor complaint, and had me on the "should I give 4 or 5 stars?!?" fence for a long time. I guess I wanted a little more drama! LOL! But maybe this is why I tend not to read YA, as it is more about the romance than the plot.

Anyway. Great story, love the characters, love the writing. Another great book by Kathryn Knight.

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from LoP (Lovers of Paranormal)*

I am ever-obsessed with everything to deal with angels. Hence, my reasoning behind volunteering to read this wonderful book. We begin reading this book with a very lonely and borderline, if not already, depressed Jamie Brandt. She has suffered immense tragedy and loss, and on top of that she is suffering from constant bullying for doing the right thing. The only time she can escape from this torture of everyday life is a place called Fox Run. Fox Run is her sanctuary where she houses her beloved Beau. Out of the blue, Fox Run gets a new, mysterious stable-hand. Dothan is anything but ordinary in terms of your average teenager. He has also suffered great losses that he and Jamie bond over. As a growing relationship ensues, Dothan may not be telling the whole truth in the reason to why he has suddenly appeared in Jamie's life. I couldn't help but love Jamie! She was so broken and by the end of the story things actually start looking up for her. I didn't really trust Dothan in the beginning, but he did eventually win me over with his...well...everything. I strongly recommend this book to those who enjoy reading about angels, young love, and a dash of mystery.

Overall, I would give this book 3.5 stars. The author has created an interesting plot involving angels and humans. There are some creative plot twists and surprises. However, most of those are left to the second half of the book. In fact, it is close to halfway through the story before the reader finds out who/what Dothan is. The author has left open the possibility of a future book continuing the story of Jamie and Dothan. I thought the internal struggles of both Jamie and Dothan as they try to determine the appropriateness of their relationship, especially in light of the reasons why the relationship might be very unwise, were well-written. While the exact reasons for the dangerousness of the relationship are unrealistic, in a more general sense, many people have to face the struggle of being involved with another person who has secrets or who family/friends/society might not approve of. I also liked that the author touched on the issue of bullying among teenagers.

Jamie has one friend, well, two if you count her horse. After turning in a classmate for breaking the law, she has become a social outcast at school. While at the stable where she boards her horse she encounters Dothan, a mysterious and aloof stablehand. They keep crossing paths and eventually the two become friends and then more than friends. But when Dothan betrays Jamie and explains why he is so withdrawn and why he is strangely strong and his touch is shocking, Jamie must decide who she will trust, Dothan or her grandfather. The two men despise each other and Jamie is caught in the middle. Ultimately, the men must learn to work together to save Jamie's life.

Fans of supernatural romance will enjoy this story. The author's knowledge and love of horses is evident in the details. YA readers will identify with the drama of high school and the difficult choices teens face. The characters are well developed and the story is told in a well-written first person narrative.

I really enjoy reading paranormal books. And when you add in a little romance, well who doesn’t enjoy that?

These two are kind of star crossed lovers with no death involved. The instant love seems to be getting done in many books. What I did like about this couple is that no one person in the relationship “wore the pants”.
I love the stubborn characteristics that Jamie has. And I enjoyed the protectiveness Dothan felt for Jamie without it being overdone or out of line.

I don’t like to write spoilers so I will say that if you enjoy a little paranormal give this book a go. I’ve read that this book is a standalone but I would love to read a sequel should Knight get inspired to continue the story.

I was given this book to review from the goodreads group Lovers of Paranormal...
I have really mixed feelings about this book! I liked how it came together but it seemed to take an age to get there!
I felt for a Jamie she has endured so much throughout her short life and all you want is for her to be happy!
Dothan for the first half of the book was a little weird! I had a feeling there was more to him than meets the eye!
I don't feel the plot flowed enough for my liking, there was a few unnecessary horse riding explanations thrown in that wasn't really needed. The Blurb really captivated me and made me want to read the book but the story didn't appear as gripping when reading it.
Sorry but the book wasn't really my cup of tea!!
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to review the book.

Kathryn has a very pleasant writing style. This book is a nice read. Kathryn really focuses on developing her main characters, Jamie and Dothan. I think in doing so, she did loose a little bit of putting more action into the book. This was more like a read along kind of book. However towards the end the plot finally thickens and keeps you at the edge of the seat. I just wish there were more parts like this one in the book to keep you enthralled throughout. This author definitely has what it takes to deliver that, but in this book you had to wait until the end.

This is more of a young adult romance book with influence from the paranormal. I would definitely recommend it to people who like romance with a little extra (sorry no spoilers here).

I have received this book from teh author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
