Most of Brynn's friends and family tell her she is crazy to leave everything and everyone behind to move 1200 miles from home just to try something new. She feels like she is being adventurous and wants a change from her boring Midwestern life. The only thing she wishes she could bring with her to Denver is Ned, her boy-toy turned serious boyfriend that her parents know nothing about.
Once in Denver, Brynn finds being 'adventurous' isn't as fun or easy as she expected. She's suddenly on the bad side of one of her grad school professors, she's just about out of money, and when she thinks things can’t get worse, Mother Nature wreaks havoc on her car. At least she has Kim, her new best friend that she met at school, to talk to about almost anything.
Brynn didn't anticipate meeting any guy that intrigues her, but Dave sure peaks her interest. She wants to explore if she is imagining a spark, or if there really is something there. But Ned...the sex with him is too good to just throw away, and they're making the long distance thing work...sort of. Ned? Dave? Is any of this really what she wants?
What Brynn thinks is essential in life changes drastically when she gets the call that causes her to get on the first plane home. Only then does Brynn realize what is truly important to her and what she wants in life.

Thank you to Sky Greene for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book and found myself hooked on it from just a few pages in. I finished this book in a day as it was so easy to read and the story just flowed.
It is a classic feel good chic-lit book, with some tears thrown in! We learn a lot about Brynn and her life right at the very start so this made me connect with her straight way. What I loved most about this book was that it really deals with long distance relationships and the emotion and strain that they bring. Although I have never been in one I feel as if I know now exactly how it feels and the pressure it puts on the two people involved. It is dealt with in such a realistic way and makes you feel like you are in the story and experiencing it yourself. I was very close to tears when the relationship between Brynn and Ned comes to an end because I put myself in the story so much, it felt like I was going through the break up! It just draws you in and the brilliant way the scene is written by Sky makes it so emotional.
There are a lot of will they won’t they moments along the way, will she stay with Ned, will she give up school to see him more, will she end up with Dave? Although the book was an easy read it kept you guessing right up until the very end and did eventually have a happy ending, which by that point you aren't sure if a happy ending is what will come! The story is left open at the end so I have my fingers crossed that Sky writes a follow on book!
The book definitely fits it’s title as Brynn definitely does find herself during this book and in the end realises what she really wants and should be doing in life. Although she is an adult we see her grow up a lot more throughout the book and she learns not to be so naïve when it comes to some things, this is really great to see as you feel for her and want her to see what is in front of her, I found my self wanting to shout out to her a lot whilst reading this book!
I would definitely recommend this book to chic-lit lovers for a quick and easy read, it would be a great book to take on your summer holiday with you. I cannot wait to read another of Sky’s books and be well and truly sucked in! She is on my list if I ever want a feel good, quick read.
Brynn has decided to leave her comfortable life in the Midwest behind to go back to university in Denver, 1200 miles away from home. Even though this means leaving behind her parents, her family home and, most importantly, her boyfriend Ned, Brynn feels it is time for a change. However, life doesn't start off that great as soon as she arrives in Denver, and combined with the struggles of a long-distance relationship Brynn starts to doubt whether she made the right decision to go to Denver. She is forced to rethink her decisions and choose what it is she really wants at this stage of her life.
The author of this novel, Sky Greene, is a counsellor at a secondary school who decided to turn the struggles she sees every day concerning self-discovery and relationships into her very first book. ‘Finding Brynn’ deals with exactly those issues; the main protagonist Brynn has made the big decision to turn her life around and start over in a new place, away from everything that’s familiar to her, including her family and boyfriend. It took me a bit of time to warm to Brynn, mainly because she was complaining quite a lot at the beginning of the book, in my opinion. However, this definitely changed as the story progressed and I started to enjoy Brynn’s journey of self-discovery. I think the process Brynn goes through is realistic and most readers will be able to relate to the things Brynn is going though, one way or another.
The book deals with long-distance relationships and starting over in a new place, but mainly deciding what it is you truly want from life; something which will speak to many readers, I think. The story is well-paced and easy to read and has an interesting mix of characters at its core. I didn’t fall head over heels in love with this novel, but it was definitely an entertaining read and it has made me curious to see what else Sky Greene will bring us in the future. Overall, ‘Finding Brynn’ is a quick and enjoyable read; a book which I think chick lit fans won’t regret picking up.
A coming of age story with a splash of humor and intrigue! I am a sucker for any type of ‘starting over’ chick lit and a ‘finding yourself’ type of story. Finding Brynn was both so I couldn’t wait to dive into it.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the main character Brynn entertaining and down to earth with a slight adventurous side just waiting to peek! Don’t get me wrong, though parts of this novel made you giddy there were quite a few points that brought you back down to earth. Her relationship with Ned for starters, who I found adorable, begins light slowly teetering towards a heartrending end that almost had me shedding a tear for both of them. Sky Greene manages to put the hammer to the nail as she writes about the trials of a long distance relationship and I think it’s something most readers, whether in one or not, can connect with.
There was one very large twist in the novel that made my jaw drop. It was perfectly thought out and beautifully yet tragically written that it only made the story flow even better than before. This was a quick read for me that brought on numerous levels of emotion and I highly recommend it to anyone who adores chick lit with a dramatic flair!
Within a year of graduating from college, Brynn realizes her quiet life isn't the life she intended to live. Though she's only been dating Ned a short while, and their connection is strong, she decides to risk it all, and moves to Denver to pursue graduate school.
Living on her own, balancing school and work, Brynn finds time to develop new friendships - life for her is great, except for the fact that she misses Ned. Almost immediately she recognizes that though their sex life is great, and it is easy to be with him, something has changed, something is missing from their relationship.
When her father is in a serious car accident, Brynn returns home to Wisconsin, leaving graduate school and her personal life hanging in limbo.
Ms. Greene writes this New Adult work of fiction with a tender, methodical heart. We feel Brynn's day by day growth as an individual; a young woman on the cusp of emotional and financial independence.
I would love to read further adventures of Brynn and follow her evolution from a young woman who is tentatively putting her toe in the water, into the strong and capable woman I believe she was evolving into.
