Disclosure: I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
When I first received this ebook, I had no idea what to expect. I have never really thought much about the legend of Bigfoot/Sasquatch. I really have no prior opinions as to whether or not it exists/is a hoax/is real, etc. I went into this book with no prior beliefs or biases.
This book was very short and to the point. It gave examples of some sightings of this mysterious creature as well as a little bit of background. According to my kindle app, it was 41 pages long but I felt that it was shorter than that.
It felt like more of a preview than a full book. I would have loved to read more about the legend, heard more stories, and learned more about the history of this mythological creature. This book was a teaser into the legend and I will admit that it did make me more curious.
A well-written book but I would have loved for it to be longer and been more in depth.
I am 9 and I like this book because it tells you interesting stuff about Bigfoot, a.k.a. Sasqautch, and super cool stories about them. Before I started to read this, I thought Bigfoot was the Yeti because I read Tintin in Tibet once and there was a Yeti in it, now I know that the Yeti is only a cousin after reading this book! The origin, mythology and theory parts had lots of weird and interesting things about the Sasquatch that I never heard of and even thought about. =)
When I read the tales in this book, I had fun trying to predict what would happen next in them. I found “The Ruby Creek Incident” was scary and my family and I found an old interview online with one of the original investigators in it which was interesting to watch especially after reading this book and a bit eerie scary, too. Can you imagine footprints about 16 inches long…….that’s amazing, no wonder it stepped over the 43 inch long fence. I would run for my life too if I was in that Chapman family. I think that there is some truth behind it and thought that this book was an awesome way to find out more about the Sasqautch/Bigfoot.
I think it’s interesting that it is still a bit of a mystery and maybe with all our tech we have today we might find a bigfoot one day and even quicker than without it or find it just all a hoax or misunderstanding or something. That would be soooooo cool to uncover the real truth. Some parts of me wants it to be true and some parts of me doesn’t but either way this is a cool book to read and I had tons of fun reading it and know you will, too. I am going to camp soon and will be telling my friends about the Sasqautch around the camp fire and “The Ruby Creek Incident” ........Sooooooo can't wait....(^_^)
Everyone has heard of Bigfoot, even if they don't believe Bigfoot is real. People from all over the country and even the world have reported seeing Bigfoot (or one of his 'cousins'.) In this book Elgin Cook doesn't tell you whether you should believe or not. This is simply a guide, a research tool, to help you decide for yourself. He talks about history and mythology. He presents evidence and hoaxes in a way that is clearly unbiased so you can draw your own conclusion. Except for wishing it was longer and wanting more (in a good way) I really enjoyed this book. It was informative, entertaining, and easy to read. Whether you are a believer or a skeptic I'm sure you can't help but at least be a little curious about it. Even if you only wonder about the beginning-the first stories, first use of the name 'Sasquatch', etc-this would be a good book to read to get started answering those questions.
This is a simple little introduction to the creatures known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch. If you're new to the topic, Elgin Cook's book is a great place to start your research. Enough is mentioned to point you to search terms to enter on the internet or when looking for more in-depth books.
