Look at Yuri, ruling those rebels like a kween (pardon the spelling; I've been binging Broad City)! To me, this whole volume was bittersweet: on the upside, Ramses decides to aid Kail, Yuri gets delegate/strategize on her own (giving those old "am I worthy of being Ishtar without him" worries a good swift kick), but on the flip side, Ramses gets kidnapped by his own corrupt queen just as he agrees to the alliance, and Yuri gets to return to Kail, with news of the miscarriage. I'm dreading that convo, and it's simply fiction. It's even acknowledged that her leading the troops is a good distraction from her pain and that she and Kail will be able to fully grieve together. What a reunion...

The beginning was ok but better when Yuri saves a small boy & us reunited with the 3 sisters & Il Ban. Also when Yuri decides to rescue Ramses. Il Ban has really gotten to know Yuri that he already knows how she should do that.
It’s so funny that at this point people are no longer trying and are simply accepting that yes you can kidnap Yuri but she’ll bring her own entourage and probably cause a rebellion or two in the city
Overall Rating: 2..../10 I re-read from teenager to grown up. Not the best idea...
This may be my third re-read of this series. I am pretty sure I read it twice in the first two years of it's release. I was young, I loved it. It was romantic. But after reading it this year (maybe +15 years later....), I was wrong. I just saw wrong turns, within wrong turns. Maybe as an adult, you see things differently.
If you,ve read a manga or book during your early years and end up reading them much later in life, you may end up like me- loving a series in the past and ruining it as the adult in you laughs for once enjoying them... :(
Do I recommend this: Unless you are under the age of 20 honestly...
Welcome to Book 21, which with just 7 volumes to go Yuri FINALLY figures out a way to escape ravishment. Guys it was a loooong time coming.
Still acting under the guise of marrying Ramses (and man do I love Nefert) Yuri pretty much acts like she does with Kail (just minus the touchy-feely stuff). I think Ramses figures out pretty quickly why Kail always seems so exasperated with Yuri. She incites a minor kerfuffle during some of Queen Nefertiti's priests chopping off a 5 year old's arm (yeah, them Egyptians...) which gives Nefertiti all the excuse she needs to arrest Ramses and have him tossed into a room to die horribly at her palace.
Shinohara you still haven't convinced that Nefertiti is a bad person by the way. GOOD TRY.
And Yuri, in typical fashion, wins the love of the common people (this time of Egypt!) to help rescue Ramses because let's face it. He needed rescuing.
What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect. I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past. I don't know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world.
I would really recommend this series to fans of Inuyasha, it has a lot of the same concepts.
I found this series on a mere coincidence but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I read the entire series in 1.5-2 days. It was truly wonderful and a joy to experience.
