On her way to work one morning, Jessica Kaplan is shot with a tranquilizer dart and falls unconscious. When she wakes up she encounters a masked man that forwards an unusual proposition. He tells her that he does want to have sex with her but he doesn’t want to take it by force. He’d like to earn her consent. To achieve this, he wishes for her to stay with him for three days so that they can get to know each other, paying her a thousand dollars a day for her inconvenience and accommodating her with as many amenities within reason. However if she doesn’t consent, he tells her, she will be obliged to remain under his supervision, under the same conditions, until he can ultimately win her consent. On the third day she does consent and is released as promised. Soon after she realizes that she has unwittingly fallen for him and dedicates herself to tracking him down; aided by a resourceful private detective and the suggestions of a coworker that is a bit of an amateur sleuth. The investigation leads Jessica through a series of twists and turns before finally culminating into a surprising finale.
