Fawn is not good at keeping secrets. And she has been poorly hiding two very big ones for some time.
But it’s been getting harder and harder for her to hide her infatuation with the big, growly wolf pack enforcer.
She’s not surprised when he rejects her. He thinks she’s a human beta, after all.
But then a mysterious stag shifter arrives at the pack, and her other secret is out.
The stag wants her.
The wolf wants her, too.
They are both predators. Her gentle inner side is prey.
What’s the one thing prey should not do in front of a predator…
What does Fawn do?
That’s right, she runs.
Fawn is a fantasy shifter romance with a large cast of suitors and one very mischievous heroine at the center of all their desires. Includes angst, adventure, two scent-matching, and hero-on-hero loving. Fawn doesn’t need to choose, and neither do you.
In a secret garden hidden behind a wall of shrubs and trees amid a tiny English village, you'll find L.V. Lane's writing den, where she crafts spicy adventures...Magical and mythical creatures, wolf shifters, and alphas of every flavor give our sweet, sometimes willful omegas and heroines a guaranteed HEA. If you like my books, you might also like my contemporary pen name, Verity Arden!

I love L.V. and I can get behind some good smut, which this was top-notch at that, but sometimes these fuckfest free for alls are just a little too poly for me. This was like a slow roll orgy where we just kept adding people and everyone starts fucking everyone. The problem is that the book was so heavy on the sexcapades that I really didn't get a chance to feel a deep emotional or love connection between any of the characters.
I liked the characters, but it seemed really only skin deep or should I say balls deep. Also, I know that some of Fawn's ridiculousness was supposed to be tongue in cheek (God I hope so) but she came across as a literal dumb, walking vagina. I just can't get behind a dumb girl whose best quality is that she's always horny and wet and can take monster cocks all night.
This didn’t read like a romance to me, more like a sex diary. All that happened in the first 140 pages was the FMC fucking the first MMCs exclusively, most times in front of the second MMC, then she got into a bath with the third MMC, got head and then fucked again by the first MMC, no plot, no real connection between any of second and third MMC towards her but sex. At page 285 (out of 371) she has sex with fifth MMC. You read that right, the fifth MMC was introduced and had sex with her the same chapter, already 72% into the story. And the fourth MMC has been present in five or six sex scenes but hasn’t had a real conversation with her.
Maybe this is a personal preference, but RH romances for me need to have all the MMCs introduced at the same time and already know each other. Because if not, the disconnect between characters should be a plot point, which in this case isn’t. They are just expected to move on and get used to it.
Another point is the FMC. She has been horny from the first page (where she was being ‘disciplined’). She has more sex than is healthy and I genuinely am curious as to how she hasn’t gotten a yeast infection. She also behaves like a child and says “oops” way too many times. It’s not endearing it’s annoying. She turns into a doe, and the fact that the 4/5 MMCs are stags doesn’t make me feel better about the fact that the guys were sexualizing the animal. “The lines of its thighs, it’s ass, it’s tail” … Hell no in all accounts.
While all the sex is going on, we get minuscule crumbs of plot that’s going to unfold in the last 15% of the book. And I understand trauma, I can understand the lasting effects, but if I’m about to get REALLY hurt and the man that professed his love for me won’t help, I couldn’t forgive him. In the end all’s well that ends well. Mated and with previously straight MCs now swinging both ways (out of the fucking blue might I add but oh well).
Do I recommend this book if you want to read smut and nothing else? Yeah. Do I think it’s a great representation of the omegaverse? Nope Would I generally recommend this book? Nope
I had high hopes for this book but I'm done and here's why.
The fmc fawn- at 1st you think oh she's a sweet shifter hiding in plain sight and this will be a sort of awakening. But its more a coming of age and by that I mean its like reading about a 16 Yr old little girl who's a nympho. And it doesn't improve on that, she has zero personality or depth just lots of lustful thoughts about multiple men and of course all the men want her. I don't know about you but I'm 57 yrs old, I don't want to read about characters that are the same age as my kids and less mature. I also want a fmc whom I like, I can get behind n cheer for. You can't do this with a 2 dimensional fmc. Its like cheap teenage porn for old men fantasising about schoolgirls ffs.
The story is weak, and I mean there is no story other than shes hidden in a wolf pack with her family all her life. Thats it. Its beyond simplistic.
Next are the men in this rh, sigh. Again 2 dimensional non entities who like to fuck n have big dicks: have I said this is like a cheap porn movie n a bad one at that?
Yes there's titillation with multiple sex scenes incl mf, mm, but honestly boring af.
So here we are, a vacuous fmc, pathetic rh males and insipid non existent plot.
Is this one of those auto ai written books? Because its soulless and we see it all too often especially when authors jump on certain trope bandwagons.
Absolutely NOT for me, dreadful.
Oh and I didn't receive a free copy or arc, there's a reason I never do, so I can give genuine not sycophantic reviews!!!
An omegaverse shifter why choose Romance with a fancy peen and they do it in beast form… what else can a girl ask for?
I have enjoyed every book in this series so far and LV Lane just knows what to put in a book to get my attention. Her stories are different, they don’t feel repetitive and I absolutely love everything she does!
ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ She is so precious, sweet, and loving. And a perfect hussy all rolled into one.
This is a fun and primarily lighthearted shifter why-choose omegaverse read. It is a fully contained standalone in the Coveted Prey fantast romance series.
Fated mates. Fancy peen. Mating in beast form. Make it fit. Two omegas. A little bit of danger. What’s not to love?!
This is a fast-burn and spicy MMMMFM romance with lots of sword crossing.
Dnf at page 38 - excessively simple language, uncomfortable for the genre
The FMC is disturbingly childish despite being 20 years old. Her language, both internal thoughts and external communication, is around what you would hear from a 5 year old. She seems developmentally stunted and, considering the nature of the book, it feels uncomfortable right out of the gate. What I read of Wolf isn't much better to read. I skipped ahead a bit to see if it might improve but I cannot get past the overly simplistic syntax.
Another DNF... This author likes TSTL naive FMCs. And Fawn is just that, a brainless cumdumpster.. And all of a sudden, anything with the dick falls head over heels for her. She goes from sobbing over the thought of leaving her home to "i need to leave" all because a dude she said three words to 15 years ago came waltzing in...
There's no connection. None of the MMCs click.. And she's just an idiot.
The storytelling itself is interesting and initially, I was curious to see how things would evolve. I love all supernatural creatures, so I was looking forward to this reading experience. Unfortunately, I did find myself drifting away from the story as the intimate scenes overtook the plot itself. I do enjoy a good amount of spice, but here it just felt like that was the predominant element and sadly it just did not work for me. I would have preferred to see the characters develop an emotional connection along the way, which for some reason I did not see forming. I hope that I have more luck with the other book that I have selected by the same author. Glad that other readers seem to have enjoyed this one though.
On one hand this was definitely smutty and raunchy, but on the other hand I really could not get into it. The story is mostly smut but I didn't feel the necessary world building and connection between characters and relationship growth.
As with most of the author's books, the heroine, Fawn is basically just sweet and horny. She doesn't have much personality aside from wanting to be bred constantly by any available male and it kind of got old for me after the 30th time or so. She's also basically in love with all the males when they have barely spoken or bonded.
Then there's the "mates" and while this is a why choose I really didn't see how any of them fit together. "Why choose" can work but I just didn't feel any connection between them or each other tbh. It's the standard "alpha obsessed males who love their delicate saucy but sweet female" type stuff:
- First we have Jude (or Wolf as he's known) who is a wolf shifter. She's known him since she was a kid and was in love with him from the start. He didn't want to get with her when he thought she was human but knowing she's a shifter he's all over that. He's not big on sharing and expected to be her only mate until Seven shows up.
- Seven is basically a king of the stags and a shifter and they met once when she was a child. I didn't get this relationship tbh. He holds himself apart from her most of the time and gets off on watching her fuck other guys, mostly her mate, Wolf. Then all of a sudden he takes her too and she's in love with him.... When they barely spoke 3 words to each other and have nothing in common.
- next is Eiden. He's another stag and omega who's in a relationship with another stag. He's sweet but has a hidden wild side and his deal is getting off on degradation at the hands of his partner Nox.
- Nox is supposed to be a wild card who's like crazy hardcore and ruthless but he's just kind of there? He's abused Eiden who's into that and kind of guides some of the sessions but aside from that there's no reason he's so into and obsessed with fawn.
Lastly we have Gideon.... Who I liked the most but seriously?! He is basically just some lowly worker guy who was around when Fawn was horny (which surprise surprise is like all the time) and he "fell" on her. He's also got the biggest cock so of course she had to make him a mate too.
Look it wasn't a terrible book but I wanted more relationship development and love with my smut. This is basically just fawn being a c*m dumpster for a bunch of guys she's sexually attracted to. I wanted cute moments, bonding, romance etc and from the blurb I thought it was going to be a close relationship between her, wolf and seven but it really isn't that.
This was a typical L.V. Lane fuck-fest orgy, where the mates keep on getting add up to the group until there were 5 on 1. There weren't much world-building or rather it was the same as the other books in the 'Coveted prey' series. I didn't necessarily feel the connection/love between all of the characters. But nonetheless, it was a good addition to the series.
Fawn is a doe shifter (yes, a deer) who was raised in a pack of wolves who then falls for the wolf enforcer whom she calls… Wolf. Then, plot twist! She turns out to be the missing mate of the king of all the deer. But he’s already essentially bonded to two other stags who are conveniently also Fawn’s mates. Then, plot twist! There’s one more mate: the innocent guard who was assigned to stand watch but Fawn couldn’t help but fall in love with.
This sounds all fine and dandy, but the writing was not great with loads of typos and grammatical errors. The sentence structure was super bulky and weird, which definitely distracted [me] from the story. The mmcs continuously praised Fawn, saying she was so brave and compassionate and blah blah, when tbh she wasn’t really? She was the most helpless damsel I’ve ever read about and could only ever really function if she was with one of her “powerful mates.” Not to mention the instalove/instalust was not done well and made me hate myself for forcing myself to finish reading. (Ex: Gideon, the soft hearted soldier assigned to guard her and had just been introduced literally one page before, gets… aroused and Fawn sees that he has an absolute unit in his pants, so she proceeds to have her way with him quite literally two pages later and they’re already confessing their love for each other. Like I’m all for bringing in another partner, but the way it was done frankly sucked which made me even angrier because Gideon is so my type, ugh.
Oh! I forgot to add: she runs around chasing butterflies. Idk why but this gives me the ick so bad.
Added one star for Nox, the controlling dom daddy.
I loved this book. so many unique aspects that I haven’t seen in another reverse harem/ why choose. It had the common stuff like BDSM, super spicy scenes, etc. but also had unique shifter creatures like the stags. I am so curious what a stag shifter form looks like in the book because it seemed super epic kind of dangerous. On a random note, just shifting tongue to “beast form” is wild lol. I loved the characters, mainly the men, they had really good back stories and have a wide variety of personalities. I was happy that I picked this book to read, one of the best shifters reverse harem/why choose romances I’ve read. 5 out of 5 stars.
-Reverse Harem/Why Choose -Shifters -Omegaverse -M/M and M/F Relationships -Rags To Riches -Secret Omega
Omegaverse top tier fantasy! Great characters and dynamics. I just love when the harem does not quite get along to start and must figure out each relationship dynamic in order to complete the group. Also Stag shifters yes please!
This book can be read as a standalone but I’m begging you to read more of her books. I promise she has something for everyone if you’re into this type of thing!
Fawn has been hiding who she really is and her feelings for too long so once she’s able to be her true self it’s phenomenal and instantly saucy! ;)
I loved getting to see Fawn come into herself and doe form fully and meet her mates. They all had me swooning and wishing that I was Fawn!
The more I got to know her and her mates the less I was able to choose a favorite. They all offered Fawn things that she was seeking/needed.
If you’re into these types of books please do yourself a favor and read this one plus her other books! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
I was absolutely enamored with this book. Not a single thing in it is something I'd usually read because it has some personal triggers for me in it, but it was done so well that I couldn't put it down.
If you like age gaps, soft doms, sadists, why choose with two omegas, you're really going to love this one. One of my favorite parts of this book is that the FMC wasn't someone who just magically became the strongest person in the room. while I do love a strong, independent FMC, sometimes that sort of damsel FMC is nice to read--except the FMC was independent to a point and knew herself well...
That being said, this book was spicy AF. probably 95% of the book honestly, and damn. worth the read for sure.
Thank you to Chaotic Creatives and LV Lane for the ARC. I'll definitely be reading more of Lane's work for sure.
As with everything Liv writes I just fall in love with the story and characters.
We head back in the coveted prey world for this latest story about Fawn a doe shifter and her mates. Fawn has led quite a sheltered life from circumstances out of her control. So what happens when a huge stag shifter enters her life? Well a certain someone is determined to stake his claim 😍
I loved the dynamic between the characters and how Faens Omega nature really shines through in everything that happens.
This is a sweet and very spicy shifter why choose romance with some of that Alpha grrrr that Liv writes incredibly.
PS - if you haven’t read the bonus chapter yet, what are you waiting for? 🥵🥵
Yet, another wonderful RH by L.V. Lane. I so loved every character from Wolfe the wolf shifter, to Seven, Nox, Eiden (M Omega) who are all stag shifters btw. Oh and let’s not forget the beta stag Gideon! Put them all together and boom, a lot of sexy men.
Then add yo the mix, Fawn who is a beautiful omega doe (who by the way was raised among wolves) and you get a fantastic mix!
In closing, the storyline was wonderful and the hotness between all characters were off the charts. Also, the ending was my favorite, HEA! A must Omegaverse read.
I have received this as an ARC and this is my honest review!
… Abschiedsschmerz, so genial … berauschend, spannungsgeladen, voller genialer Gefährten…
Fawn is quite the steamy and action packed ride. It begins with a young girl, Fawn, who unbeknownst to her, actually finds one of her mates while frolicking in the woods, but she's so young that she has no idea where life is going to take her or where her destiny lies. Fast forward several years and she is now living in a wolf pack and she is about to embark upon her new life.
Fawn is both the main female character's name and the name of the book, so forgive me if it seems confusing. Within this world, mates can, for lack of a better term, cross-breed. Fawn is the offspring of both a wolf shifter and a doe shifter, hence why family lives on pack lands. Both of her parents have now passed and now that Fawn is mature, it's becoming harder for her to...ummm...not want some action. 😂. However, the wolf pack believes her to be human since they don't realize that she is a shifter. Her parents never allowed her to shift in front of the other wolves, fearing her safety. It isn't until Seven, the stag king, arrives and declares that she is his mate that everything changes.
Suddenly Wolf, the man that Fawn has had an infatuation on for years, claims her and that bond is unbreakable. He's kicking himself at not doing it years before, but even with this new development and knowing she will leave with the king can Wolf leave the only pack he's ever known...when it means following the one woman he truly desires, you bet he does, but Seven isn't his only competition. When they arrive at the stag kingdom there are even more shifters who vie for Fawn's affections; Eilan, Nox, and Gideon. How will their relationship work and the ultimate question, can a wolf and four stags satisfy one mischievous fawn?
Fawn is full of steam, that's right...hot MF, MFM, MMF, and other combinations of everyone. I loved how each man had their own dynamic, whether it is fitting in with Fawn, their new dynamic with each new male, or with each new relationship within the poly world. It's one of the reasons why I love why choose, it's to see how the dynamics play out and to see who submits to whom, not always in the bedroom, but sometimes. Relationships are fascinating and this world was truly unique in that way alone.
This was my first L.V. Lane book and I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed jumping into her world and hope to read her again.
I thought the synopsis was super misleading. The Wolf (Jude) never rejected her (not really. He suggested moving her to the human village to protect her then couldn’t do it because he wanted to claim her) and there is a king of the stags who wants her because he thinks it is fate that he saw her on his quest when he was 13 (she was 5). There there are the other stags mates who are lovers and friends of Sevens (Nox and Eiden) who weren’t even mentioned in the synopsis. That being said, it was good. A little slow in places but sexy and thoroughly fun to read. As always with LV Lane the FMC is a virgin, a brat, and needs “a firm hand” read: spankings. It was nice to have a truly funny MMC (Wolf/Jude) who follows her to the ends of the earth once he claims her. Seriously I love that he gives up everything for her and is so grumpy and funny about everything they get in to (especially with his possessiveness around the new mates). And then GIDEON too??? At 75%. Come on. A little much. And a little long. But still a good easy read.
Shifter. MMMMMF. Squirting. Spanking. Brat FMC. Sweet and innocent but lusty FMC. Training. Wolf cleans her up with his tongue after cuming. Wolf mating bite. Scenting. Exhibitionism. Male Omega (Eiden). Scent match with Eiden. Fucking womb (seven). Somnophilia. Eiden and Nox have a dom/sub relationship and love each other and fuck each other. Eiden cums first thrust of first sex with FMC (during consensual somnophilia). Adding males/mates. Monster cock (Gideon). Ddlg (Nox). Kinda virgin (Gideon). Beta mate (Gideon). Captured and rescued. Fucking in deer/beast form. Her becoming queen. Breeding. Mentioned pregnancy. No epilogue. No breakup. No OMD. Slight OWD (former lover of seven tries to upset fawn and later tries to kill her. No epilogue.

So this is the latest book in the Coveted Prey series and I've read them all so far. I'm a big fan of the series and of L.V. Lane as an author. But this book was just too long and too slow. I don't mind long books as long as they are plot heavy and have a lot of content to fill the pages. But this is mostly smut and so it just dragged on and on.
That's my main problem with the book. But also I didn't think the characters had very much depth or backstory. Other than Fawn and Eiden, the others didn't get very much buildup at all. And Gideon is just added on at the last minute so we learn virtually nothing about him.
Now, don't get me wrong, L.V. Lane nails it when it comes to the smutty scenes. So hot! But if it's only going to be that, then it needs to be a shorter book.
I don't know what else to say. I didn't love Fawn, but didn't hate her either. Despite not getting to know him much, Gideon was my favorite. He had this sweet innocent vibe going that was adorable.
Overall this was one of my least favorite books in the series mainly because it's too long and slow. I didn't hate the content, just how much I dragged through it.

I’ve been here since book 1 of the Coveted Prey series and basically if L.V. Lane writes it, I’m gonna read it! Love this series and the unique magical world that the author has created. Fawn is book 8 and introduces a different magical group which was very intriguing and interesting.
Sweet Fawn was made to keep a secret from the time she was young. Her parents were trying to protect her and in doing so she could never experience the freedom to be herself or run how she longed to. Once they passed she was on her own but still watched over by the leader of the wolf pack that they lived amongst, as well as some good friends from the nearby village.
Then one day, someone that she met briefly when she was just a child, comes back into her life and everything changes quickly. She is brought into a new kingdom and finds not just the freedom that she has longed for but also a new family and a future with her mates.
I loved the interactions between characters and the cockiness of her first two mates with one another. “Fear not, little one,” Seven says. “Wolves are pack fighters and rarely effective alone. I shall be careful not to unduly wound your first mate should we get into a scuffle.” LOL
Eiden’s story was also very moving, one of acceptance and found family, that I thought tied in well with Fawn’s story. I did feel like there could have been a little more character development all around but found that there was enough for me to know that I liked all of them and could see how they interacted with one another and complemented one another.
A sweet, steamy story with an interesting plot, plenty of action, and lots of spice!
DNF at page 128. I just couldnt anymore.... The summary sounded so good. But in reality, it read like a bad wattpad story.
There were grammer errors, skipped workds, incorrect past/present tense, and overall parts that just made zero sense.
The romance was so unbelievable. Fawn has been in love with Wolf since she was 5. Wolf wanted nothing to do with her but suddenly someone else wants her and hes rawdogging her in the middle of the forest, cuz ya know... he only wants what someone else wants. Also, good lord I feel like his favorite word was "brat". Fawn asked a legitimate question- she's a brat. Fawn stops listening to his constant nagging- She's a brat. Fawn went in search of her missing goat- she's a brat. Fawn went to let her dog out in her pjs- she's a brat. Fawn gets pissed because she's told she can't shift- she's a brat. No. Just no. Thats NOT bratting, thats basic human actions and reactions. This didnt ready as a Dom/sub relationship like the author was hoping.
Seven has this link to the gods, but its touched on and never mentioned again. His "quest" as a kid made no sense and he just sounds snobby.
And dont even get me started on Fawn. She's 20 but seems to have the mentality of a preteen. All she can think are lusty thought, but acts like a freakin child the whole time. Even her thoughts are childlike.
Overall, it just wasn't worth it to me to power through when I know there are better books out there. Which sucks, cuz I really liked the concept of this book.
To much intimate scenes. To little character development and no plot. Wait, it was not at all any development of the characters.❌ There was almost no plot, only in the near ending but only a little bit. But throughout the whole book it was with her or the other omega sleeping with al the male alphas over and over again.
Hated that the male omega was an omega and together with the abusive male. Wanted the attention to be on her and only her and not on some male omega. The last lover came in the middle of the book and he was also an submissive one (I think, because at that point I started to skip pages😑). HATED the male submissive ones, wanted dominance ones🫠 Don’t get me wrong, cause I love MM romances, MMF, MFM and so on but in this, I was not prepared and didn’t want it in this book. I love if is done right, but in this it just fell short.
I wanted some male alpha ones who only looks at her, that’s why I started to read this book because it seemed like it. The fml was way to childlike and infantilised by everyone. She lusted after everyone!!😤
The personality of the male omega was sweet and that but I did not want him too be an omega❌ The other male who was abusive toward the male omega suddenly became possessive and inlove with the fml even though he had done nothing with her. All the male characters became that🤦♀️
The one I remotely was okey (kind of) was the one who hade known her a bit longer, Wolf (or whatever). Him I got but the others, not so much. I wished she only mated him😑
